Digimon Journey of the Crest:
The Past Revealed
Part 1
Eight years ago, Eragon is strolling across the desert, since it is after he defeated Darkdramon in that fight, and now he has the Crest of Compassion in the palm of his hand. With rage, he throws it away and he journeys through the desert until he gets covered by the sand. But then, Guilmon appears out of nowhere and starts digging him out like a dog, rescuing Eragon.
Eragon: [coughs] Who are you?
Guilmon: [hesitates] Guilmon. I… Guilmon.
Eragon: You shouldn't have rescued me.
Guilmon: Why?
Eragon: I…. I don't know why. I want to know, but I… don't know who I am.
Guilmon: You have no name?
Eragon: I do have one. It's Eragon. And I-
But then, he feels something in his hand. It is a Digivice, which looks at it in a puzzling look. But then, some wild Digimon come charging in to attack them, and Guilmon drags Eragon to a rowboat near the ocean. They both get in and they row for their lives before the wild Digimon would get at them.
Eragon: Why did you save me?
Guilmon: Well… I don't know. But I feel like… we're meant to be with each other.
[PRESENT DAY]
The Dark Ocean is quiet and peaceful, and Mermaimon's island palace is also silent, until an explosion occurs on the water. The palace is on high alert with alarms blaring, a bubble-shaped barrier defending the palace, and aquatic Digimon swimming on patrol for a counter attack. Flying in the air is BlackExVeemon with Davis riding on his back, wielding his Culi Sword. The castle fires a catapult, then Davis cuts it in half with his sword as it flies towards them.
Davis: This is your big plan? To charge in and draw attention?
BlackExVeemon: You carry a sword that cuts through anything and I'm the traitor, right? It would make us bigger targets than the rest of us.
Davis: You know, if I knew about this, TK would be here instead of me.
BlackExVeemon: [glaring] Davis!
Davis: Just kidding.
A squad of Topiumon launch out from a grotto below the palace, and take to the sky like fighter jets. Then comes Hookmon's carrier, but it is commandeered by the citizens on Maro Village, and Davis makes the call with his feather.
Davis: Yolei, you there?
Yolei's voice: Sure, Davis.
Davis: We grabbed their attention. Now's your cue.
Yolei is onboard the ship, standing in between Growlmon and Veedramon, at the front side.
Yolei: Right. We'll deal with the skies. Aquilamon, get ready!
Yolei rushes over to mount on Aquilamon and they both fly into the air with some Butterflymon following them both. With the flying Topiumon arriving, both sides engage in aerial combat, shooting and slashing at each other. Aquilamon grabs a Topiumon by the tail and throws it at another, clashing them into each other. With her Horn of Gavilar to disorient the Topiumon at the front, allowing her Digimon partner to strike.
Aquilamon: Blast Rings!
On the ship's front, Growlmon and Veedramon are shooting their breath attacks like they're a pair of cannons at the bubble barrier protecting the palace, but it is bouncing them off.
Veedramon: This won't work. That barrier's too strong.
Growlmon: We'll have to keep trying. Eragon wouldn't want us to give up. Pyro Blaster!
Growlmon fires his Pyro Blaster, bounces on the barrier, and it strikes a Topiumon instead. And then, Seadramon pops out and slashes his tail in the air, knocking out some of the Butterflymon flanking Yolei.
Yolei: [worried] Hey guys, we need some back up!
Right on cue, Kyubimon runs across the carrier to stand at the front, and she growls as she stares at Seadramon.
Kyubimon: Fox Tail Inferno!
She fires blue flames from her nine tails, and striked Seadramon in the face, who retaliates with his Ice Breath attack. Gunners fire on the ship and the palace guards take fire in return. Gun emplacements are destroyed. The crew goes flying, but Growlmon and Veedramon save them from falling overboard.
Inside the palace, Mermaimon is viewing the battle in her magical viewing device with Octomon standing at her side to share her vision.
Octomon: Orders, my queen?
Mermaimon: Just let them attack… again. By the time they try to eradicate the barrier, they'll be out of power.
Octomon: Your majesty, we may have to turn it down for a bit. I just received from the Metal Empire. General Cyberdramon is coming back.
Mermaimon: Tell him about the grotto. We don't need to shut down our shield.
Octomon: Yes, my queen.
Back outside, Davis seems upset about something.
Davis: This blows. We've finally got ourselves together, and the first thing they did was keep us apart again.
BlackExVeemon: We couldn't ignore their decision. We have to honour them.
{FLASHBACK}
Shortly after the battle of the Eastern Castle and the defeat of Sandiramon, the DigiDestined are consulting with EmperorGreymon, with Kyubimon passing around. Kari is standing in between them and in the middle of the room, having an ashamed look on her face.
Cody: You can't be serious. Arresting Kari?
EmperorGreymon: She purposely abandoned you during the journey, recklessly ventured into a wild forest, and offered the new Crest to Sandiramon. All in an attempt to negotiate with the enemy, which was futile endeavour. An act like that must be punishable.
Kari: I understand.
Hawkmon: Shouldn't there be a lawyer first or something?
Armadillomon: I don't think these people know what a lawyer is.
Davis: No, wait. I should be blamed, not Kari. I am the leader of this team, and I just… overlooked what she did.
Kyubimon: That's noble of you to say, but we need to send the right message to the others.
EmperorGreymon: Trust me, the punishment can be a reasonable option. As a consequence of her action, she'll be under house arrest inside the village for the remainder of the war.
Cody: But EmperorGreymon, we said we will always stay together, and that includes during the war.
Eragon: We all did, but we can't ignore their laws.
Gatomon: But what if we're needed?
Kari: It's alright, Gatomon. I never wanted to be in this war to begin with. I can always stay here and wait for the others to come back.
{FLASHBACK ENDS}
TK is sitting down in a tent with Patamon looking into his quiver, which has no Homing Arrows at all, so he can't do anything now with his bow. Then he is visited by a SnowAgumon.
SnowAgumon: General TK.
TK: What is it, SnowAgumon?
SnowAgumon: The siege is going well. With our continued assault, the palace barrier should be down in three weeks.
TK: But we've been here a week alright.
SnowAgumon: Yes, sir. We're right on schedule.
SnowAgumon takes his leave as TK groans in complaint, then Cody arrives into the tent with Armadillomon.
TK: What is it?
Cody: I've got good news today. Armadillomon was taking a bath, until he slipped off and fell into the ocean. But he was swimming and he found something.
Armadillomon: A tunnel. It goes right under the palace island.
Patamon: So that means that we can sneak our way in, knock out the barrier, and it'll let our friends in to storm the Deep Savers.
TK: That sounds like a plan alright. Let's go.
Heading out, TK and Cody walk to the edge of the cliff where it has a view of the palace assault. With his Deflector Shield, Cody makes a sphere around them like a bubble and it plummets down into the water until it hits the seabed.
TK: Smart thinking.
Armadillomon: It's this way. But don't stop, unless you see the little mermaid.
They walk in the bubble on the seabed like it's a wheel, on their way to the tunnel.
Meanwhile, Cyberdramon entered the bridge of the throne room followed by his two Strikedramon. He walks to the front of the throne and stands beside Mermaimon.
Cyberdramon: [bows] Your majesty. I hope you have no situations, other than the assault outside.
Mermaimon: They have been at this all week, but it's nothing I can't handle.
Octomon: My queen, someone had entered the secret tunnel. It could be one of the DigiDestined.
Cyberdramon: Just as his lordship predicted.
Elsewhere, TK and Cody both pop their heads out of the water and they are now inside the palace boiler room. Patamon and Armadillomon swam to dry land, shaking the water off of them like dogs. But they see a large battery charging up the neon wires on the wall, which could mean it's the main power system.
Cody: That must be the main power core. We just have to shut it down and friends will be-
Patamon: Trouble!
Out of nowhere, a swarm of Gizamon crawl their way on the walls and ambush the two. Cody activates his Deflector Shield to block himself and TK from harm, while their Digimon partners engage the Gizamon. While they're distracted, TK gets his time to reach out for the lever of the machine, and he pulls it to shut it down.
The barrier outside is shutting down and everyone in the battlefield notices.
BlackExVeemon: The barrier's down. Davis, this is our moment. Remember your training.
Davis: Got it.
BlackExVeemon flies over the Dark Ocean, punching the Seadramon out of the way. When he is above, he fires his Laser Punch to drill a hole on the rooftop of the palace, and he drops down with Davis falling beside him.
Davis: Geo Digivolution, engage!
With his Digiband activated, Davis transforms into GeoGreymon before he lands hard on the ground.
GeoGreymon: GeoGreymon! Mega Flame!
He breathes Mega Flame at the swarming Gizamon and BlackExVeemon joins in, just before a Dolphmon pounces on him from behind, but he flings him across the hall. The two Hybrids defeat the remaining guards, until they hear footsteps approaching and they are about to attack, but it is revealed to be only TK and Cody arriving.
BlackExVeemon: Oh, it's just you two.
TK: We shut down the barrier system. The others should be arriving shortly.
GeoGreymon: Why did it take so long? We-
BlackExVeemon: [defensively] Hey. Easy on the comments.
GeoGreymon: Did I say anything?
BlackExVeemon: You were about to.
GeoGreymon: I didn't say anything.
Suddenly, an electric shock blasts both BlackExVeemon and GeoGreymon that forces them to revert back to their normal selves. Cyberdramon comes out with his two Strikedramon bodyguards, and some Geckomon show up to surround the intruders.
Cyberdramon: Look who it is. The traitor Eragon.
Eragon: [groaning] Cyberdramon.
[DIGIMON ANALYSER]
Eragon: He is Darkdramon's most trusted General back in the old days. His Desolation Claw is powerful enough to claw his way through a mountain. And his bodyguards are Strikedramon. He's got a whole squadron of them, plus their attack Strike Claw can cut through your bones.
[END D.A.]
Cyberdramon: It's a real pity you turned your back on us. We would've done great things together.
Eragon: Not a chance. I know better than to be responsible for so many lives in the Digital World.
Cyberdramon: Why would you care? You don't even know who you are, so you owe nothing to the world on your decision to be some hero.
Davis: He is a hero, metal face. And he's more than that.
Eragon: NOW!
The group duck their heads, but before a blast blows through the hole, and Growlmon and Veedramon come inside to save their friends.
Cyberdramon: Get 'em, boys!
The Gizamon that surround them begin to tackle, but Davis shoos them off with his Culi Sword swinging around. Growlmon and Veedramon are locked in a pitched battle between claws with Cyberdramon's two bodyguards.
Eragon: Davis, stay with the boys. I'll handle Cyberdramon. Black Digivolution, engage!
Eragon activates his Digiband, transforming back into BlackExVeemon, and he engages in hand to hand combat with Cyberdramon.
Growlmon: Dragon Slash!
Strikedramon: Strike Claw!
Growlmon and Strikedramon clash their attacks together, causing the whole room to tremble. In the end, Growlmon is proven stronger when he sends that Strikemon flying to the wall. In the meantime, Veedramon simply picks up the other Strikedramon and slams on the floor from side to side before he throws him across the hall.
BlackExVeemon and Cyberdramon are still fighting, and they clutch each other's fist before they lock eyes on themselves.
Cyberdramon: You're ditching your big moment, Eragon. He has the past, he has memory… but you throw it away.
BlackExVeemon: Laser Punch!
His Laser Punch is enough to push Cyberdramon away, but the General kicks him in the face to knock him out. Then, Cyberdramon gets surrounded by Angemon and Ankylomon, ready to strike.
Cyberdramon: Until another time, rebel scum.
Angemon tries to get at Cyberdramon. Ankylomon runs at the General from the opposing side. Cyberdramon turns and slashes his claws at the wall. It breaks, causing chaos as everything is drenched in water flooding the whole room. Cyberdramon is the only one to fly out of the palace through the hole in the other wall.
Davis, TK and Cody hold their breaths as the water flooded, but BlackExVeemon and the other Digimon get them and they make a run for it out of the palace.
Mermaimon, in her throne room, watches the battle from the window, and then Kyubimon bursts in with a few PawnChessmon to corner her.
Kyubimon: Mermaimon, as a consequence of your siding with the Metal Empire, you are hereby under arrest until further notice.
Mermaimon: [groans; to Octomon] Siding with them was your idea.
Part 2
Later, the ship is sailing down the river to dock right behind Maro Village, where the villagers applaud and cheer for their heroes' success over the Deep Savers. The DigiDestined all walk the gangplank on the wall, and they walk down a platform that takes them to EmperorGreymon's palace.
EmperorGreymon: Well done, Generals. Another enemy fortress taken.
Eragon: For the moment. Mermaimon and the Deep Savers are under house arrest in her palace with a probation, but General Cyberdramon has returned.
EmperorGreymon: He's back? This could be bad.
Kyubimon: My lord, we mustn't worry. We should be making plans for the next battle.
TK: Speaking of battles, we should go with our previous plan and make an alliance with the Western Coliseum.
EmperorGreymon: I agree young man, but with the Black Hybrids leading the Darkdramon's armies, things are getting difficult to master. And I assure you the village will have to keep fighting the war as long as they're at large.
Cody: Understood. We can always think of another way.
EmperorGreymon and Kyubimon take their leave to go inside the palace.
Kari is in the village, wandering around and admiring the merchandise the marketplace is selling. Gatomon and Impmon are following her from behind, also looking at the merchandise.
Kari: Just look at what they're selling. So many flowers, different-flavoured bread, even treats. It all looks so cute.
Impmon: I fail to see how they are. They look just the same from my point of view.
Gatomon: That's because you have a boring point of view. If you spent less time in the dark and more time with others, you'd get the idea.
Impmon: Gimme a break, toots. I don't always live in a cave, you know.
Gatomon: You don't smell like it.
Kari: Gatomon, be nice. We just have to wait for-
Yolei's voice: Kari.
Right on cue, the DigiDestined all come over from behind to greet her.
Kari: You came back?
Veemon: You guys missed a really great battle yesterday. It took us longer than we thought, but we've managed.
Guilmon: Say, um… can we get some bread? I'm hungry.
Eragon: [peeved] Guilmon.
Kari: [giggles] Don't worry, I know a shack nearby.
Later, the DigiDestined are in their room for a discussion, while Guilmon is chowing down on some bread.
Davis: The war is becoming more complicated than we might've thought it would. Maybe we should've gone to the Western Coliseum before accepting the offer as Generals for the rebellion.
Eragon: The Metal Empire now knows of our powers. All of them. And now, he's making more soldiers to do his bidding, he's appointed the Black Hybrids to be his field commanders, and worse… he's brought back Cyberdramon.
Cody: But Eragon, what's so bad about him?
Eragon: Everything. After the creation of the Black Hybrids, when he found a way to modify Digimon data, he did the same thing on Cyberdramon. So the General is almost as strong as a Mega-level Digimon, but not strong enough to overthrow his master.
TK: We have to think of another way to save the Digimon here. We don't have much on our side. Most of the villagers are at the Rookie-level, and the Major's leading his squad to the wilderness.
Patamon: What about Cherrymon and the wild Digimon?
Yolei: He's occupying the Eastern Castle. He and the other wild Digimon don't want to be a part of it.
Hawkmon: They're more likely to be just ordinary animals instead of soldiers.
Davis: And that's why we need backup from the Coliseum, right?
Eragon: Yes, but they're all living a life like gladiators. They wouldn't take weaklings to be sided with, and… to their point of view… we are.
Davis: [offended] Hey!
Kari: We have to do something. We can't just face the Empire by ourselves and hope for the best. If my brother was here he'd [pauses; realizing] Wait. I got it!
Gatomon: Got what?
Kari: We can always call Tai and his friends to help us.
Armadillomon: Good idea.
TK: But Kari, they're all busy with their own duties.
Cody: TK's right. But even if they can help us, we don't have our D-Terminals to contact them. Our only best option is to get back to our world and call them.
Patamon: But we don't have a TV to take us there.
Guilmon: Hey, what's that?
The DigiDestined hear what Guilmon said, and they come over to see what it is. Much to their surprise, it's a TV placed at the corner of the room.
Eragon: What's a monitor doing there?
Davis: We're in luck. That should take us home in no time. Cody, you think you can flick it on?
Cody: I'll try.
Cody goes behind the TV to find a few switches and it turns on the machine, which opens the gate to the Human World.
Cody: That's it. The gate's opened.
Eragon: Gate? Gate to what?
Kari: You'll see. Just follow our lead.
The DigiDestined hold their Digivices to the screen; the puzzled Eragon does the same, and the gate glows bright to transport them and their Digimon partners into the screen.
Meanwhile, Cyberdramon is flying over the desolated landscape to approach Death Tower itself. A secret hatch on the tower opens for him to enter, and he slides down a tunnel to make a landing in the throne room, where he encounters Darkdramon, Marcus and Seth.
Cyberdramon: [bowing] I have returned, lord Darkdramon.
Darkdramon: Rise, my old friend. Now we're together, it's time to move on with the plan. Seth, I suggest you round up the Jungle Troopers to the border line.
Seth: Consider it done, boss. When they face the rebels, they'll be beggin' for mercy.
Cyberdramon: I've already spoken to the Wind Guardians. They'll come when the storms break out.
Darkdramon: Good, very good.
Darkdramon is looking to the other end of his throne, where a Clockmon is standing by the corner and glaring at him.
Darkdramon: Well Clockmon, it looks like your predictions have failed you.
Clockmon: [glaring] We shall see about that.
Darkdramon: Oh, I think we have. The rebels have their forces stretched thin across the entire continent, and the end of the war is nearing us.
Marcus: But my lord, we have lost too many. First, it was two of the Black Hybrids, then it was Sandiramon. And now, the defeat of Mermaimon….
Darkdramon: Her defeat was a nesseccary move. Soon, I will have a new ally, one more important and more powerful than even any of the Digimon against us all. [laughs evilly]
Part 3
In the Human World, the basement room in Ricky's house is quiet, until the computer starts glowing for opening the gate and the DigiDestined are transported through it. They all get piled up together from that trip and most of their Digimon partners are in their In-Training levels.
Eragon: Where…? Where are we now?
Davis: You're in the Human World. Or, in our case scenario, our world, including your own.
Yolei: Finally, I was starting to feel a little homesick back there.
Eragon: Guilmon? Where's Guilmon?
Then, Guilmon lands onto Eragon's stomach.
Guilmon: Right here.
Yolei: Hey, he's still in his Rookie level.
Upamon: I thought he would be In-Training, like most of us.
Cody: It must be because he's got a lot of energy inside of him.
Then, there is the sound of a door opening, and the kids quickly hide their Digimon into a laundry basket. Eragon is still baffled about what his friends are doing to hide them, then Ricky comes in through the door, stunned to see them all before him.
Ricky: Did I disturb you or something? I just got home, and wondered if you took care of things.
Davis: We have, Uncle Ricky. We, uh… did alright.
And then, Ricky notices Eragon who he didn't know at all.
Ricky: And who's this?
TK: This is Eragon. He's our new friend.
Ricky: Well, I'll be shot. Made new friends already?
A few minutes later, everyone is in the living room where Ricky is serving the kids tea. Eragon, on the other hand, is stunned and marvelled at all the stuff around the house.
Eragon: Interesting. I…. I never imagined….
Ricky: Is he alright?
Kari: Uh… he's homeschooled. Sadly, he's never been outside much.
Ricky: Ah, I see. I was like that when I was so young. It's what motivated me to be a wildlife photographer. It helps me learn more than I did, and see the cultures I wanted to see from my movies. Ha-ha-ha-ha! Say Eragon, care for some tea?
Eragon: Uh… yeah, sure.
Eragon walks over to sit down on his seat, where he grabs himself a cup of tea from the coffee table. Ricky looks at him more closely, and he stares to see something strange about him.
Davis: So Uncle Ricky, how was it?
Ricky: Splendid. After a one-in-a-half day flight, I was in Peru. I managed to find mountains, just like I wanted to go, and I've managed to finish my travel book. Here, take a look.
Ricky hands Yolei a neatly inscribed title page of a red leather bound journal. The kids crowd over to see it themselves.
TK: "From Home to Afar and Back", by Ricky Motomiya.
Ricky smiles proudly. Yolei looks at page after page of beautiful handwriting, with intricate maps and drawings, and pictures of animals from separate countries.
Yolei: It's amazing.
Ricky: It has taken me a long time to finish it off. You see, I… uh…. Had to recollect my memories from my childhood and put all of the pieces back together, so I could give explanations.
Cody: Can we read the whole thing?
Davis: Uh, we can't. No one can. That's my uncle's number one rule. He even made me promise to not read the first chapter.
Ricky: And you better listen to him. It's, um… unfinished, that's why. All I can say is that it's my life's work, though it doesn't pay me at all, but it was worth it all to me. It's taken me twenty years to work on it, and all I could think about was going back to some places I've been to, but I… have problems that cannot be fixed by anyone.
TK: Well, what kind of problems?
Ricky: Some other time. Right now, you should all get outside and do something together. It's a gorgeous day.
Ricky gets up to take his leave. But when he leaves, Eragon sees a glimpse of something hidden in his pants pocket. It looks like a top part of a Digivice, but he isn't sure of it.
The team is outside the house later on. Eragon is amazed by the surroundings around the neighbourhood. He has Guilmon at his side, who is liking this Human World as much as he is.
Cody: I was able to email Ken and the others about where to go. So all we have to do now is wait for a response.
Eragon: This place is so calm and peaceful. But where are the Digimon?
Davis: About that, Eragon. There aren't any.
Eragon: They went extinct here?
Kari: [giggles] No, silly. This is just a world of human beings, so there aren't any Digimon living around here at all.
Patamon: And there's lots of new things to try around here. Stores, theaters, parks, and tasty food.
Guilmon: Food? [slurps]
Eragon: [unamused] No surprise there.
Yolei: Come with us. We can show you.
Yolei grabs Eragon's hand and rushes off elsewhere, while the others follow them.
Part 4
The team is in the interior of a large crowded shopping mall in Bayshore Shopping Centre filled with many shops, and Eragon is even more astounded by it all. Guilmon is wearing a collar and a leash to make him look like a dog.
Eragon: [awed] Incredible.
Guilmon: [awed] Same here. I could stare at this all day.
Davis: [whispering] Guilmon, keep it down. They'll find a talking animal too weird around here.
Kari: Hey Davis, Eragon, right this way.
Eragon is in a clothes shop, a bit baffled by the variety of clothes it had for sale. Yolei tries on a variety of outfits.
Yolei: Pretty sweet, huh?
Kari: Yolei, you looked nice in the second one.
Eragon: You guys actually… change your outfits?
TK: Sure we do, but why? Don't you change?
Eragon: Uh… not really.
Davis: Well, that's unhealthy for you. You should try some clothes on.
Eragon: Well… alright.
Eragon walks into a changing room, and he steps out wearing a ball gown, which makes the girls laugh at him.
Yolei: That dress is for girls, you silly boy. [laughs]
Cody: Here, let us show you what boys wear.
Next, Eragon tries on a variety of outfits: a bathing robe, a Mickey Mouse outfit, a luchador costume, a pair of Spongebob Squarepants pajamas, and a business suit.
Kari: You look handsome in it.
Eragon: I…. I never thought of wearing anything else.
Employee: Is everything okay here?
Yolei: Yes. We'll take it.
Later, Eragon and Davis are in a toy store of the shopping centre admiring the Bionicle (first generation) set.
Eragon: You… put it together in pieces?
Davis: Yeah, it's part of a set called Lego.
Guilmon: Hey Davis, I'm getting hungry, and I smell-
Then, a kid snatched Guilmon by the tail and drags him along the floor.
Eragon: Guilmon!
Kid: I want this one! Can we buy it, mummy?
The kid's mother snatches her son back, and gives Guilmonmon back to Eragon.
Kid's mother: I'm very sorry. [to the kid] I told you not to take what doesn't belong to you.
Davis: I told ya.
Guilmon: [whispers] Sorry.
Later, the team is outside the shopping mall and they are carrying bags of takeout food. When they find a remote place hidden from the public eye in the bushes, they set up a picnic there so their Digimon can eat the food. Guilmon is stuffing his face in a McDonald's bag, scuffing down the cheeseburger.
Guilmon: Delicious!
Eragon: And just wait until you eat the fries with that.
Eragon and Guilmon are enjoying their meals, and Gatomon looks at them with a peeved look.
Gatomon: Honestly, those two are behaving like little kids in a theme park.
Kari: Oh, Gatomon, go easy on them. They've been in the Digital World for so long.
Eragon: I… don't know how to thank you all for showing me this world.
TK: Don't be, Eragon. This is like our way of showing how we appreciate your company with us back in the Shadow Continent.
Davis: As much as we like what you've done for us, think of this trip as pay back. But why bring only a business suit.
TK: Well, he did look like Bruce Wayne in Batman. Though not like George Clooney when he's Batman.
Eragon: Please, try seeing Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins.
[3 second silence]
Eragon: [stunned] What did I say?
Patamon: You said Christian Bale as Batman.
Cody: But how do you know about him?
Eragon: I…. I don't know. It just… happened.
Yolei: Well, whatever the case, I bought us some BeaverTails.
Yolei hands out a BeaverTail for each of her friends. They take a bite of them, and they enjoy it. For Guilmon, he just eats the whole thing in three bites.
Yolei: I finally got a taste of it.
Poromon: Yolei, they had all kinds of variants for BeaverTails.
Yolei: I know that Poromon, but I thought of just the original.
Kari: Anything from Tai?
Cody: Nope. I told them all to call us if we don't have a computer for the emails.
Davis: Wait! I forgot we left our D-Terminals to Zephyrmon back in the Digital World. Why couldn't we just go there first?
Cody: If only we had both a computer and a phone put together.
Eragon: It'll happen, when Steve Jobs makes an iPhone model that's a phone, a computer and TV set put together. [pauses; stunned] What did I say?
Kari: Eragon, are you sure you're okay?
Eragon: I don't know what-
Then, Eragon's vision begins to blur and he collapses. He begins seeing images of his younger self, playing in a playground with a younger Marcus. The two boys are playing soccer together, until the images fade into when Eragon argues with his blurred father.
Young Eragon: You're never there for me! I hate you!
He runs away from home, heading off to the streets, until Marcus comes over to stop him in his tracks. However, before he can say something, a swirling portal appears before them and out of it comes Darkdramon's hand.
All of a sudden, the images fade away and Eragon regains his concsiousness as the kids crowd him to wake him up.
Kari: Eragon? Eragon!
DemiVeemon: Come on, wake up.
Eragon: What…? What happened?
TK: You fainted. And… you started to cry, which was a first.
Eragon wipes a tear drop from his face, knowing TK is telling the truth.
Davis: Are you okay now?
Eragon: I…. [realizing] I must go back.
Later, Eragon is storming down the stairs and he is tailed by the baffled DigiDestined.
TK: What do you mean "back"?
Eragon: Back to the Digital World. I have to see my masters there. Guilmon, hurry up.
TK: What for?
Eragon: Questions. Questions that need answers.
Yolei: But you've only just arrived! I don't understand.
Eragon is already at the computer, opening the gate to the Digital World, and he turns to his friends.
Eragon: Neither do I. But I have to go. I promise to return. In the meantime… keep an eye on Ricky. Because there's something about him I don't know what it means.
Eragon held his Digivice to the gate, and he was entering the Digital World with Guilmon, leaving the DigiDestined standing alone in the basement.
Part 4
In the Digital World, three Gigadramon slowly descend through the cloud cover of the perpetually gray twilight side of the Shadow Continent. One by one, they land in the eerie swamp. Then a group of MetalKabuterimon roll down from the backs of the Gigadramon.
The invasion force of the Metal Empire moves out of the swamp and onto a grassy plain. A Commandramon, the one leading the force, looks out over the vast army marching across the rolling hills. A small hologram of Cyberdramon stands in front of him.
Commandramon: Yes, General?
Cyberdramon: Commander, we've scanned the Eastern Castle and Maro Village, but there's no trace of the DigiDestined. We suspect that they're in the wilderness.
Commandramon: If they come this way, we'll crush them all.
Cyberdramon: Do it with caution. These humans cannot be underestimated.
In Death Tower, Cyberdramon ends the holographic call and turns to his master.
Cyberdramon: Nothing. But I'll send Seth for the jungle right away, and I'll stay in touch with the others.
Darkdramon: See that you do. I want no mistakes if we want to achieve our glorious and noble goal.
Cyberdramon bows his head before taking his leave. Then Darkdramon is distracted when Clockmon talks to him at the corner.
Clockmon: There's nothing noble about crushing desperate lives.
Darkdramon: They're all traitors to the Empire. Surely, you would've known that after I modified your data.
Clockmon: I have… but it wouldn't matter anything for your sakes.
Darkdramon: Don't forget your place. I saved you from the cruelty of the wilds out there. And in exchange, you allowed me to grant more power to make you a soothsayer.
Clockmon: And with that, twas I who foretold the coming of the DigiDestined who would come forth and stop your reign on the Digital World.
Darkdramon: Eight years, you told me that. I was lucky to delay that in their world with… a little friend of mine.
Clockmon: Don't be so sure of yourself. Time has a way of fighting back to those who try to mess up its tellings, so… it will come.
Darkdramon glares at Clockmon, then he walks away to leave the throne room.
Elsewhere, Eragon and Guilmon are both rushing down the pathway to the Heavenly Palace, the home of the Harmonious Ones. Eragon knocks on the main gates, which are opened right away, and he steps in to bow before his four masters.
Eragon: Masters, I have returned.
Azulongmon: Welcome back, Eragon. We've been wondering if you and the other DigiDestined are alright.
Eragon: We all are.
Baihumon: Splendid. Zhuqiaomon was having doubts about it, because rarely anyone gets out of there.
Zhuqiaomon: I was drinking when I said that. But anyway, I want to ask if anyone was harmed in any way.
Eragon: So far… no. But we had complications along the way. Davis has become a Hybrid, just like me, and Kari is placed under house arrest at Maro Village because of her desertion.
Ebonwumon: Well, that was to be expected. But the part where Davis is a Hybrid now? That's a shocker.
Zhuqiaomon: And why would you come? Is it because you need lunch money from us?
Azulongmon: Let the boy speak.
Eragon: I was…. I remembered. Not just the time when I was being operated on, but… it was before that moment. Before Marcus and I ever came to the Digital World. It was….
Azulongmon: Your memories. That's what you're remembering.
Eragon: But how can it be? Ever since you brought me here, you promised a way to bring back my memories, but… you weren't there when it….
Ebonwumon: No. But they were. Because you've been altered with Black Energy, it was getting difficult for us to find a cure. The Human World, however, was bound to be your home of origin.
Baihumon: We all had a feeling that if you have a chance to crossover, your memories might return to you. And it looks like… we were right.
Eragon: So that was it? You requested the DigiDestined to be with me because you knew… I would go there?
Azulongmon: Yes. We did. And besides, you needed the company.
Eragon: Well, that's taken care of. But I do have a request. Kari was thinking her older brother would bring his friends along to aid us with our war with the Metal Empire. What I want is… your influence to bring them here.
Ebonwumon: The DigiDestined from the days of old are older now. They may be the ones who saved the Digital World before, but they have duties to attend to on their own, so we cannot ignore them.
Zhuqiaomon: But what proof do we have that the Metal Empire is starting another war with the Digital World?
Eragon: I have none.
Zhuqiaomon: Because there is none. All you're basically doing is causing a fray with them. It's hard to believe that you may need some backup for a war no one can really start to begin with.
Eragon: But master, I know what I'm saying. I've seen firsthand what Darkdramon is willing to do after he turned me into a living weapon. He's willing to say and commit anything he wants to start a war with the entire Digital World. That's why my friends need help from whatever you've got.
Ebonwumon: Calm down, son. Just send them here and we can discuss more about what to do.
Eragon: They're not here. They're at… Ricky Motomiya's place.
Azulongmon: [alarmed] What did you say?
Guilmon: He said… Ricky's. He's Davis's uncle.
All four of the Harmonious Ones look at each other in alarm, which means this was concerning to them all.
Eragon: Masters?
Azulongmon: Eragon. I think we have something to say… you may have to hear.
Meanwhile, Kari is staring at the computer in the basement, where she is waiting for an email response, but so far nothing. Then Davis came over to see her.
Davis: Anything?
Kari: No. And I hope Eragon is okay.
Davis: Are you kidding? No one can beat that guy. He's like Superman and Batman put together [chuckles]
Kari: Well, I just hope-
Then, the gate to the Digital World opens and Eragon comes out with Guilmon landing on the top of his head.
Kari: Eragon?
Eragon: Where's Ricky?
Ricky is in the kitchen, wiping up something to eat. But when he turns to get something in the cupboard, Eragon and Davis are both standing in front of him.
Ricky: Boys. I was making some supper for us.
Eragon: Sir, we need to talk… about your travel book.
Ricky: Maybe some other time.
Davis: Uncle, I looked through the pages, and one of them mentioned the Shangly Forest. That location doesn't exist.
Ricky: Well, it may have been a fictional location, so I-
Then, Eragon grapples Ricky, restraining him. The others rush over to see what's going on.
TK: Eragon, what are you doing?
Reaching into Ricky's pocket, Eragon shows the DigiDestined what he discovered: a Digivice.
Eragon: I knew it!
TK: [shocked] A Digivice?
Eragon: You're a DigiDestined.
Ricky: [nervously] No, it, uh…. It's only a toy I kept for so long.
Davis: Uncle Ricky. We each have one.
One by one, the team shows Ricky their Digivices, and then their Digimon show up out of hiding. Ricky is marvelled by them, but he has a feeling that now is the time to explain.
Ricky: Alright. I'll tell you.
Later, everyone is seated in the living room to explain how Ricky knew about Digimon.
Ricky: I have encountered Digimon before, twenty years ago. I was… a very different person that day. The only thing that ever interested me were my video games. Until one day… an egg came out from my computer and it hatched into a little Digimon named Bommon.
[FLASHBACK]
Ten year old Ricky is staring in awe as a Digi-Egg flies through the screen and into his hand. A Digivice appeared in his hand as well, then the egg hatches to reveal a Bommon.
Young Ricky: Who are you?
Bommon: I…. I'm Bommon. And you?
Young Ricky: Ricky.
Ricky/narrating: It was the best moment of my life. My own pet and he talked too. But I wasn't the only one.
Later, Ricky encounters five of the original DigiDestined, long before Tai and the others, in the Digital World. The leader of the five offers him his hand, but Ricky looks at them with a glare, and he just walks away with his Commandramon.
Ricky/narrating: They were offering me a place with them, but I was too self-reliant that day, so I refused. The first thing my partner and I did was explore the Digital World, starting with the Shadow Continent, but it was threatened by a wicked dragon. One they say rarely any other can defeat…. Megidramon.
An evil dragon-like Digimon known as Megidramon is attacking a city of Digimon from the sky. Ricky and Commandramon both watch him destroy the entire land, and they look at each other with determination to stop the dragon once and for all.
Ricky/narrating: But eventually, my partner has grown stronger and he was able to digivolve into… Darkdramon.
Darkdramon faces off Megidramon in the air, and he jabs his Gigastik Lance into the dragon's chest, defeating him.
Ricky/narrating: We saved so many lives back there, but I had other things to worry about back then.
Later, Ricky and Bommon are transported back into the Human World from the computer.
Bommon: We did it! The Shadow Continent is saved!
Young Ricky: [concerned] Um, Bommon? I have something to say. I have to go.
Bommon: What?
Young Ricky: Yeah. My parents can't stand me being alone all the time, so they… want me to go to boarding school.
Bommon: But…. What if…?
Young Ricky: Don't worry. I'll be back.
Using his Digivice, he transports Bommon back into the computer, sending him into the Digital World.
[FLASHBACK ENDS]
Ricky: But I never did. I was so caught up on my studies, I… never got to see him again. All I could think about was… reuniting with him, but I was afraid that he wouldn't make it.
The DigiDestined are looking concerned when Ricky mentioned something about Darkdramon. So they all decided to speak the truth.
Kari: Ricky? I think… we've heard of Darkdramon.
Ricky: You have?
Kari: Yes. But sadly, he's become an evil Digimon.
Ricky: [gasps]
Kari: He's made an empire to conquer the Digital World.
Eragon: She's… telling the truth. I was there. Darkdramon's using a substance called Black Energy to make human become weaponized Digimon. My brother and I… are one of those.
Ricky: [stunned] No. No, it can't be. Bommon is a kind-hearted little fellow, not a version of Hitler.
TK: Sir, it's hard to imagine it, but it's true. Ever since you've left, we've been in the Shadow Continent for almost two weeks. We almost lost ourselves, but we've managed it, and as far as we can tell, Darkdramon is the dictator of the entire location. But… we wouldn't want to offend you, if we knew.
Ricky stares at them with disbelief, then he walks out of the living room to be on his own.
Later, Kari stares at the computer yet again, waiting for a response, but this time the rest of the team is with her.
Davis: Still… nothing. [impatient] I know it's summer vacation, but people could always skip a few hours on something.
DemiVeemon: Well, maybe they're all sleeping because it's night time back home.
Cody: Mimi should be in New York, so she might be the first to get it.
Gatomon: I wonder if this can work out for us.
Kari: I hope so. It was my idea, hoping we could have the Western Coliseum to join us.
Eragon: We can only hope. Because eight years ago, none of them were there when EmperorGreymon led the march to Death Tower.
[computer beeping]
Cody: We got something.
Cody looks into the computer and he finds out it's a response from Ken.
Cody: It's Ken. He's with Tai, and…. They're all coming. They're going to help us.
Yolei: [cheering] Alright!
Davis: Now we'll show the Metal Empire who's the boss.
Eragon: Tell them where to find us, Cody. Now there's no time to lose.
Cody makes the reply on email. When that's done, the DigiDestined hold their Digivices at the screen, entering the Digital World, but Davis and Eragon are left behind when Ricky comes over to them.
Ricky: Davis? I…. I wanted to apologize for the way I reacted to what you've told me.
Davis: We're sorry too. But… why didn't you tell me?
Ricky: I had to. I was so self-reliant because… I never trusted anybody. I kept thinking people cared nothing about others. They demolished my favourite stores, my childhood home, the video rental store I loved going to, and I had to watch it all. I protested them from doing it, and I was ignored, which drove me to trust in only myself. But in the end, I was just a kid.
Eragon: I've seen that reaction before. Mostly from Davis when TK's around.
Davis: Hey!
Ricky: That's probably why Darkdramon is reigning over there. He was… following my lead to rely only on himself. [pauses] I wish I could go back and try to reason with him.
Davis: Uncle, the gate to the Digital World is opened for anyone, as long as they have a Digivice. And you still have yours.
Ricky: But… now I see you two so close, I can… almost see a resemblance.
Eragon: You can?
Ricky: It's almost like your brothers. However, Eragon's eyes are different.
Davis: Well, I always wanted a brother.
Ricky smiles at Davis, and he hugs his nephew to embrace him for a bit.
Ricky: If you see him, tell him… I'm sorry.
Davis: We'll try.
Davis and Eragon hold their Digivices at the computer and they are transported into the Digital World.
Part 5
In Maro Village, the DigiDestined are waiting at the main gateway for their friends to come over as it was discussed.
TK: They should get here by flying. But would the Empire rebuild their sky towers already?
Eragon: Not likely. They're more focused on this war than rebuilding whatever they had that was destroyed. I gave Cody a map of the path we took, so they should be-
PawnChessmon: Flyers dead ahead!
Flying towards them is Ken on Stingmon, and following him is Tai and the others on Birdramon and Kabuterimon.
Sora: There they are.
Mimi: I never imagined that I would be this far south.
Izzy: Me neither. But a southern continent would have to be expected.
The older DigiDestined make a landing in the village, before Stingmon, Birdramon and Kabuterimon revert to Wormmon, Biyomon and Tentomon.
Kari: Tai!
When Tai is ahead, Kari rushes over and hugs him.
Tai: We're here, Kari. Is everyone okay?
Kari: Yes. We're all here.
Davis: Ken!
Davis walks over and shakes hands with Ken to greet him.
Ken: I apologize for not joining in with you.
Veemon: Don't sweat it. Better late than never.
Matt: So where's the trouble?
Eragon: Around the corner.
For the first time, the older DigiDestined and Ken notice Eragon and they are baffled about him.
Tai: Who's this?
Sora: He looks so dark and all.
Kari: Tai, this is Eragon, a new friend we talked about on email.
Matt: So you're the new guy. No offense, but I thought you'd be shorter.
Eragon: And I thought TK's older brother would be more… buffer.
[kids laugh]
Ken: Well, anyway, can we get to the point?
Afterwards, the DigiDestined are talking about the team's adventures throughout the Shadow Continent and what they've experienced.
TK: And so, that's how we all got involved here.
Tai: Incredible. I never thought some humans could turn into Digimon.
Sora: But did it hurt?
Eragon: Only a little.
Izzy: I'm still wondering what more this Black Energy does. Could it be a weapon? A new power source of some sort?
Joe: And you all asked here because why? Should I remind you that I've got some other studies to attend to?
Mimi: Relax, Joe. I kinda missed having adventures here in the Digital World.
TK: But Mimi, this won't be the same as the last time. Many of the dangers in the Shadow Continent are known to go the way you least expect.
Matt: If that's the case, no brother of mine should go into war. Do you have any idea of what dad would say if he finds out you wouldn't make it?
Tai: Matt, they can take care of themselves.
Agumon: Yeah, so there's no reason we can't let them handle dangers from more evil Digimon.
Eragon: But there's more to it than that. Darkdramon is as cunning as he is dangerous, and that's what we must be worried about.
Davis: And recently, we found out that he was a partner to my Uncle Ricky twenty years ago. [pauses] Long story, don't ask.
Matt: What I don't understand is how there was another Crest made without Gennai telling us?
Gabumon: And why would Darkdramon want it for destruction when it's for compassion?
Matt: Well, he must've found a way to use its power. And we have to keep it out of his hands.
Sora: So you asked us to help you out? Well, if I knew we had to do some fighting, I could've put on some old clothes in case I-
Eragon: No. We've got the fighting covered. What Kari brought you here is so we can expand our numbers. There's a coliseum a bit far west from here, and there should be an army of warrior-like Digimon. It was our plan to go there next, but we're being delayed because we have to lead the Digimon in the village to help fend off the Empire.
Joe: [concerned] I don't know.
Tai: Joe, we may not have much of a choice. If Eragon speaks the truth and the Empire seeks to conquer the Digital World, then we'd be no better than them if we just refuse the offer.
Joe: It's not that. It's more to do with the fact that we're going into war and we're not at the right age to join some sort of army.
Cody: We all feel the same way, but we were mostly here because Eragon suffers amnesia. He has no memory of his past, only when he knows his brother is Marcus, one of the Black Hybrids.
Izzy: Then we'll go to the coliseum for you. Try to speak to their leader, and we'll come back to join you all for the final battle.
Yolei: Actually… most of us will be there.
Ken: What do you mean?
The younger DigiDestined all look at Kari, who hangs her head down in shame because they know what they were talking about.
Kari: I won't be joining them.
Sora: Why not?
Kari: Because I… ran away from them, and journeyed alone to the Eastern Castle. I was trying to reason with the enemy, hoping it would stop the war, but it was revealed to be a trap. The others were able to rescue me, but now I'm under house arrest here in the village.
Tai: [disbelieved] What?
Gabumon: You know, I was thinking that Matt would wander off like that, but from Kari? That's a shocker.
Matt: Gabumon, take it easy.
Ken: Well, if it's not too much trouble, I can take her place in the battlefield.
Wormmon: Ken, I have a bad feeling about it. I don't know if you can-
Ken: Don't worry, Wormmon. We won't let our guard down.
Davis: So what do you say? Think you can finish the plan for us?
Tai: We can. Just give us the directions, and we'll go there.
Meanwhile, BlackMaildramon overlooks a march of MetalKabuterimon through the woods while he is on top of a boulder. Then, a Commandramon rushes over to his side.
Commandramon: Sir, I've received contact from one of the Giromon. They've sighted the enemy back in the village.
BlackMaildramon: Good. Turn our troops around. We're going to the village.
Commandramon: Yes, sir.
Part 6
Back in Maro Village, after the conversation, Kari is leaning at the railing where she's overlooking the shorelines over the wall. Then, Tai comes over to her side.
Tai: Kari? We have to talk about your actions.
Kari: I had my reasons to go there.
Tai: I know, but…. [pauses] Going into the woods, alone? Do you know how dangerous that would be? If you had Gatomon, it wouldn't matter.
Kari: I'm sorry, Tai. But I…. I had no choice. I was…. I was-
Tai: Scared. You were scared of what outcome this war would bring. I know how it feels.
Kari: But you're not scared of anything.
Tai: That's not true. Without fear, there can be no courage. That's the importance of earning my Crest back then. And I was when you first got here four years ago, back when we were facing the Dark Masters… and you were sick. I thought I might lose you. It was almost like when….
Kari: When I was in kindergarten and I collapsed in the playground? I remember it very well. Every second of it, Tai. It was scary for the both of us, but in the end, I'm lucky that I have the bravest brother ever.
Tai and Kari look at each other, and they hug one another.
[explosion]
Tai: [alarmed] What was that?
PawnChessmon: General Kari! The enemy's approaching the wall!
At the front wall, the DigiDestined all gather together over the gateway where they see BlackMaildramon and his troops, consisting Commandramon, Sealsdramon and MetalKabuterimon, arriving and shooting at the wall.
Tentomon: That's the Metal Empire?
Guilmon: Well, part of it. But yeah.
[DIGIMON ANALYSER]
Tentomon: I know some about MetalKabuterimon. Unlike myself, he's pure metal and little meat inside. With his Electron Cannon, he can prowl his way through a highly secured vault.
[END D.A.]
MetalKabuterimon: Electron Cannon!
Three of the MetalKabuterimon each fire an extremely high-speed positron laser from the gun turret on its head, hitting the gate.
Matt: It looks like we'll be joining in with you, guys. Gabumon, digivolve.
Eragon: No! Don't. They'll become aware of it.
Tai: But Eragon, our Digimon can fight.
Eragon: I'm not doubting you, but we'd want to give the Empire the element of surprise. You and the others must stick to the plan, and let us deal with this.
Sora: But how can they fight without-
An explosion from the gate causes the kids to duck down for cover.
TK: We've got this.
Eragon: Hey TK, I was able to find Zephyrmon, and she's offering you these.
Eragon hands TK some Homing Arrows, and extra ones, which he is longing for so long. Now with them, TK takes aim and fires his Homing Arrows at the MetalKabuterimon that was about to finish off the gate.
Matt: [stunned/amazed] TK?
TK: I had a good teacher.
Cody: Go to the Coliseum. We'll deal with this.
Tai: Are you sure?
Eragon: Trust us, we've done this before. When you complete the mission, you will join us. Go west, head into Shangly Forest, and ask for Cherrymon. He'll lead you the way.
Tai: [pauses] Alright. We'll follow your lead. Come on, guys.
Joe: What? Go into the woods?
Davis: There's a back door. Go through there.
Ken: You go on, I'll stay here. Wormmon!
As the older DigiDestined take their leave, Ken stays behind with his Digivice activated. With it, Wormmon begins to digivolve.
Wormmon: Wormmon digivolve to…
Stingmon: Stingmon! Spiking Strike!
Stingmon flies down and skewers some Commandramon with the spikes on his arms. Then, a Sealsdramon charges in to attack, and they are both locked into hand in hand combat.
BlackMaildramon: Another one? How many are they?
But then, BlackExVeemon and Growlmon both jump over the wall and land on the ground, clearing away the main gate to let out the PawnChessmon battalion to join in the fight. Yolei blows her Horn of Gavilar to disorient the enemy troopers, allowing TK to fire his arrows.
MetalKabuterimon: Bolo Thunder.
A MetalKabuterimon collects and then fires all of its energy from both of its arms, but Coby uses his Deflector Shield to parry the blows before they would hit the opened gate, allowing it to close.
TK: Tough safe there.
Yolei: [prideful] Are we the unstoppable Generals or what?
BlackMaildramon: Iron Press!
BlackMaildramon charges in and makes Cody's force field, shattering it like glass.
BlackExVeemon: Cyclone Flap!
Before BlackMaildramon would get into the village, BlackExVeemon's Cyclone Flap blows him away to knock over several MetalKabuterimon in a row.
BlackMaildramon: Traitorous scum.
BlackExVeemon: Growlmon, it's time. Powerlink, engage!
Just like before, BlackExVeemon swipes on the Digiband and turns into magic dust, swirling all around his partner to help him digivolve again.
Growlmon: Growlmon, digivolve to…
WarGrowlmon: WarGrowlmon!
Both WarGrowlmon and BlackMaildramon engage in a duel with hand in hand combat, trying to defeat themselves to death.
Meanwhile, Tai and the others sneak their way out the back door of the wall, allowing them to flee into the woods without being seen by the enemy.
Biyomon: It sounds like they're really fighting.
Sora: I just hope they know what they're doing.
Tai: Sora, don't worry about them. They've handled situations without us before. I have faith in them.
Joe: So… who did Eragon say to ask for?
Gomamon: I think he said something about… Cherrycake or something.
Izzy: It was Cherrymon, actually.
Matt: We must hurry before they see us.
Palmon: Hurry up, Mimi.
The older kids manage to hide into the woods. As they leave, a Sealsdarmon hears them and turns in their direction.
Back at the front, a Sealsdramon climbs over the wall, but Davis stabs his hand with the Culi Sword, pinning his hand down.
Veemon: Vee-Headbutt!
Veemon hits the Sealsdramon on the face, knocking it down to the moat.
On the ground, BlackMaildramon is thrown across the battlefield and he lands onto a tree.
WarGrowlmon: You're being used. Darkdramon is only using you as a pawn, just so you can be disposed of and replaced with another.
BlackMaildramon: You know nothing about him. If you stayed longer, you would know the value what he's trying to accomplish.
WarGrowlmon: It's all a lie.
BlackMaildramon: No, your belief is!
BlackMaildramon gets up and charges with all his might. WarGrowlmon leaps at him to deliver a punch. However, at the last second he sees only young Marcus running towards him. WarGrowlmon pulls his punch short. Then BlackMaildramon counters with a devastating strike and WarGrowlmon crashes to the ground.
Kari looks down to see WarGrowlmon is about to be destroyed by his own brother. Thinking fast, she takes the Culi Sword from Davis and throws it at BlackMaildramon's side, penetrating through his armour. BlackMaildramon roars in agony as he withdraws and he changes back to Marcus to pull the sword off of him. Kari peers at Marcus, and she sees a white whistle around his neck, which looks like the one she had long ago, much to her confusion.
Marcus is starting to get a blurry vision as he looks around the battlefield, but gets back to him to show him that his forces are being defeated.
Marcus: Retreat! Retreat!
By his command, the troopers take their leave and the people of Maro Village cheer for their success. WarGrowlmon reverts back to Eragon and Guilmon, who are both baffled about what just happened.
Guilmon: Eragon…. Was that… Marcus we saw?
Eragon: I…. [hesitates] I think it was.
Part 7
After the battle, all of the wounded Digimon are in the throne room to be attended to for their wounds. Kari is passing them all as she pours a drop of her Phoenix Juice in each of their mouths, healing them one by one. Watching them from the back, EmperorGreymon and Kyubimon stand there concerned for the future.
Kyubimon: They just attacked us out of the blue, sire. Could this mean the Metal Empire now knows of what we're planning?
EmperorGreymon: I wouldn't think so. If that's the case, they would've stormed the back door before they left.
Ken is offering some water to the recently injured Digimon, and Stingmon flies down before reverting back to Wormmon.
Wormmon: I really have to say that Metal Empire sure knows how to fight dirty.
Ken: Well, the important thing is… nobody was killed.
Kyubimon: Great work, both of you. You helped keep us safe.
Ken: It's nothing, really.
Kyubimon: But we've got no time to waste. EmperorGreymon wants a meeting right away.
Later, the DigiDestined are called in together for a meeting.
EmperorGreymon: The results are in, and the votes were accounted for. We must march forward and storm into the border line, where we will face off Darkdramon's forces once and for all.
Hawkmon: We're going to attack them on their turf?
Patamon: I don't share that feeling at all.
Davis: But… we don't know if we can win this war yet.
Kyubimon: We don't have much of a choice. The enemy is now getting stronger.
Eragon: She's right. That attack is what Darkdramon would want. To attack his enemy, again, and again, until we're weak enough to face off another wave of his army.
Ken: Another wave?
Eragon: Now's not the best time to just rebuild, and we can't wait for Tai to come back with the Digimon in the Western Coliseum. We're gonna round up all the forces we have, in both of our locations, and approach the border line to Death Tower to face off the Empire before it's too late.
EmperorGreymon: So here is the plan: TK and Cody will reach the Eastern Castle, inform the Major to join us.
TK & Cody: Right.
EmperorGreymon: As for Kari, since she's still under house arrest, she will stay here and guard the village. The rest of us, including Ken, will come with me to make plans when we get there.
Ken: Understood.
EmperorGreymon: Then it's decided. We take off at dawn.
The next morning, EmperorGreymon and his forces march out of Maro Village through the main gate, on their way to the border line. Kari is standing by herself on the wall to watch her friends leave, but she has Gatomon and Impmon standing with her.
Gatomon: There they go. Off to the wars.
Impmon: Well, they've got this in the bag, so we're clear here.
Gatomon: [peeved] Obviously, you have no empathy.
Impmon: Eh, go chase a mouse.
Kari: Alright, that's enough out of you two. We just have to wait here, and….
But Kari hesitates when she recalls the part where she saw that whistle around Marcus's neck.
Kari: Gatomon… did you see…?
Gatomon: See what?
Kari: Um… never mind.
Impmon: You know, you could always… sneak out.
Kari is taking her leave while Impmon is talking, but she stops in her tracks and thinks about it.
In the Eastern Castle, the Major of the Mammothmon is having his troops marching around the courtyard, with Dogmon at his side.
Mammothmon: Hup, two, three, four. Dress it up, two, three, four.
Major: Now remember, troops. When we're needed for the battlefield, we must be prepared at all times. And when the time has come, prepare for Operation… uh…. What is the word?
Dogmon: Um, recycling?
Major: Very good, son. …Prepare for Operation: Recycling!
Butterflymon: Major! Angemon inbound!
Flying towards the Eastern Castle is Angemon, carrying TK, Cody and Armadillomon, and he lands in front of the Major.
TK: Major. EmperorGreymon's given the order. He now wants your troops to join in.
Major: Now, for your information, you may be the DigiDestined, and I am given the rank of Major to this herd.
Cody: That may be true, but we can have the authority to take command, since we've all been promoted General.
Major: WHAT?! A bunch of kids leading my herd?! Utterly preposterous!
Dogmon: But Major, it's EmperorGreymon they're talking about. It would be unwise to simply… ignore the head honcho. Isn't that what you said?
Major: Well…. Oh, aye, but, um…. [defeated] What was the order?
TK: The border line. We're heading out to face the Metal Empire.
Major: Aw, yes. Just what we've been looking for. I mean… marching through the forest has been too mediocre and… stuff. [bellows] COMPANY! Forward, march!
The Major leads his herd into the forest, on their way to join the others.
Angemon: Now that's taken care of.
TK: This might take a long time to get there if we go by foot.
Cody: Don't worry, TK. We'll make it there. Now let's go.
Part 8
Meanwhile, Tai and the others are walking through Shangly Forest to go find Cherrymon for directions. The deeper they go, the darker the woods are getting to be.
Mimi: This place is so spooky. I wonder if they actually got here.
Sora: Please, they'd know better than not to go in here. But then again, how would we know where to find someone for directions?
Tai: If there's a Cherrymon here, we'd know what he looks like.
Matt: Wait a minute. We're here to help them out? That makes sence. But we're taking advice from this Eragon, who we don't even know? Who is he really and why is he here?
Izzy: He doesn't know. That's what Kari's been saying in her email.
Matt: Highly suspicious, if you ask me. Personally, I think he's onto something.
Gabumon: Matt, I don't think he's the kind of guy to misjudge too harshly.
Joe: Actually, I agree with one thing about Eragon. We don't know anything about him, but… he almost looks like Davis when they're together.
Sora: You're right, Joe. They almost look alike, but… his eyes are different, though. It's scary.
Biyomon: Could it be possible that Eragon's a clone or something?
Joe: No, that wouldn't be-
Then Joe graciously trips over something on the floor. The others chuckle at him, as he notices he trips over a giant fork.
Joe: Hey. What kind of jerk leaves a giant fork in the middle of a pathway.
However, their wonderment is interrupted by the crash of the Sealsdramon behind them, and it catapults Joe into the trees.
Gomamon: Joe!
Sealsdramon: New recruits identified. Sending transmission.
Tai: Agumon, stop him!
Agumon: Pepper Breath!
Gabumon: Blue Blaster!
Both Agumon and Gabumon fire their breath attacks at Sealsdramon, which jams his transmission to send it. And with that, the DigiDestined grab their time to run for their lives through the woods. The Sealsdramon chase after them, until the DigiDestined fall down a hill and roll into a glade, then the Sealsdramon jumps over to land in front of them.
Sealsdramon: Death Beh-
Suddenly, an Allomon grabs Sealsdramon's leg in his jaw and lifts him up in the air. The dinosaur Digimon throws him up in the air like a rag doll. While in the air, he and another Allomon bite into him, fighting over him, and they both pull to rip his body in half, as the DigiDestined look away.
Mimi: [scared] Goodness gracious!
The Allomon both walk away, finished with their kill. And then, the DigiDestined see the majestic valley Yolei and Cody saw the last time, and they are marvelled by its scenery.
Izzy: [amazed] Incredible.
Sora: It's beautiful here.
Gomamon: It is, but… what about Joe?
Joe: [from behind] Right here, Gomamon.
The DigiDestined look back to find Cherrymon walking towards them, and he has Joe sitting on his shoulder.
Cherrymon: Young ones. I'm really glad more DigiDestined would come to us all, here in the Shadow Continent. But I'm a bit puzzled about how you'd come by flying through the trees like a bird and… landing on my face.
Joe: That was kind of my fault.
Izzy: Cherrymon, we were told by Eragon that you could lead us to the Western Coliseum.
Cherrymon: Oh, yes. I know the way, but you'd have to come with me. The forest is a dangerous place for the likes of you.
Cherrymon picks up all of the DigiDestined and he carries them on his arms to make his journey through the woods.
Cherrymon: Please forgive our first impressions. I hope none of you were startled.
Tentomon: Which part? When we were attacked or when the attacker was ripped apart?
Izzy: It may have been both, Tentomon, but… most of us weren't startled at all.
All of a sudden, the sound of the trees are heard near and far, which startle the DigiDestined a bit.
Biyomon: What's that sound?
Sora: I don't know.
Biyomon: It sounds like… the trees are talking.
Cherrymon: Yes, they are. Many of the trees here can talk, in their own language at least.
Matt: [disbelieved] Talking trees. That sounds too far-fetch.
Cherrymon: Don't be so hasty. Just because the trees you know cannot talk doesn't mean they're not alive.
Izzy: But what are the trees saying?
Cherrymon: The citizens of Maro Village and the Eastern Castle are on the march… to war. That's what they're saying.
Joe: Then that means… the others are on their way there. But will the Digimon here help?
Cherrymon: I'm afraid not. They have business with the enemy, and ours is to replenish ourselves for survival in any aftermath it would bring, but yours… must be to seek an audience with the Western Coliseum.
Gomamon: [sleepy] Hey, Joe? I'm… [yawns] getting a little tired.
Joe: There are leaves here. We can sleep on them.
The DigiDestined climb onto Cherrymon's leafy top, where they make beds for them to sleep on. When he is at the top, Tai lies down to see the stars in the night sky, and Agumon is watching them with him.
Agumon: This is what I call how to make a living.
Tai: [curious] Agumon… have you ever heard… about this place?
Agumon: Yes, Tai. Many Digimon all over the Digital World have heard of the Shadow Continent. But… I've always thought of it as a myth, and I didn't know there was a Crest made, which we've never heard of.
Tai: But… compassion? That's a virtue none of us ever thought of that could be a Crest. Maybe… Eragon needs it. Just like how I needed the Crest of Courage.
Agumon: You know what's strange, though? Remember the incident at Highton View Terrace eight years ago? There was a war here, and it happened at the same time. Pretty crazy, right?
Tai: Really? Hmmm. Or… it couldn't just be a coincidence.
Cherrymon: My fine fellow, you mustn't be so concerned. Darkdramon knows very little about the Human World.
Tai: But… did you know that he had a human partner?
Cherrymon: [pauses] Yes. He did. A young, solitary boy named Ricky. Despite their solitude, I remember the time that they would come here and help me plant trees for the forest. But now, Darkdramon has become the fiend we've feared and hated, who now has a mind of metal. I know I've said before to the others that they shouldn't lose faith in themselves, but if they're going to face the ultimate evil in this continent… may God have mercy on them all.
Part 9
In Death Tower, Marcus is in his throne room and attending to his wounded torso, putting a bandage around it because of Kari throwing a sword at him. But then, he begins to see images of his younger self playing with Eragon so long ago, and he snaps out of it. When he is done with his wounds, Darkdramon enters the room with Cyberdramon and his Strikedramon bodyguards flanking them.
Darkdramon: Report.
Marcus: They overwhelmed us.
Darkdramon: How did they overwhelm you?
Marcus: A new DigiDestined, with a Stingmon. A girl threw a sword at me. It was the short-haired one with a camera around her neck.
Cyberdramon: Is that all? My master's oldest and magnificent Black Hybrid outmatched by a new recruit and the rebel stooges?
Marcus: I had my reasons for a retreat. I would've died there instead of being a part of the war's final battle.
Darkdramon: Yes… there it is. Fear. Afraid of the outcome if you never had the chance to do what you've been waiting for. You have too much of your brother's heart in you.
Marcus: I was willing to kill Eragon. When the moment came, I didn't hesitate!
Cyberdramon: And yet, here you are. You were defeated, bested by a girl who's never held a sword before! You've become a walking disaster to us all!
Marcus tries to attack Cyberdramon, but he blasts lightning into the ground which ricochets into Marcus, blasting him back. The Strikedramon guards draw their claws in response.
Darkdramon: ENOUGH! [camly] Eragon lives, and he will face you again for a fight to the death. That's all you must worry about. And General, show some respect to our super soldiers.
Cyberdramon: [bows] Yes, my lord.
Darkdramon walks up to his throne and sits down there.
Darkdramon: The rebels are on the march, heading their way to Death Tower.
Cyberdramon: Shall I lead the armies forth?
Darkdramon: No. Not yet. Seth is on his way with the Jungle Troopers, and we have to wait for a response from the Wind Guardians. Trust me… everything is going as planned, with or without the Crest.
Clockmon watches them from outside the room, and he glares at them before he is heading his way.
Clockmon: I've had enough of this.
