Author's Note: I need to stop writing stories on sticky notes. And then stuffing said sticky notes away into my purse until I clean it out eight months later while looking for something else.

bitter & sweet
"You know you can be real stingy with your affections," Kagome pointed out while wagging a fork with a morsel of vanilla cake on it at her companion.
"What makes you say that?"
"I can't tell if you like me or not."
"I would think that it was already obvious," Sesshoumaru answered, taking a long sip of his black coffee.
She scooped some of the buttercream icing up, savoring the sweet taste in her mouth a few seconds longer. Her eyes brightened. "You…like me?"
He set his cup down onto the saucer, his face as grim as ever.
"I tolerate you."
"See? Stingy," she pouted, taking an unnecessary larger bite of her slice of cake. "People will like you more if you act warmer, you know."
"Have you ever considered perhaps I do not want people to like me?"
"Well, that's such a pessimistic thing to say."
"Perhaps I'm a pessimist then," he retaliated, "Have you considered your bubbly personality is a turnoff to most people?"
"Bubbly is a bit much…" her voice trailed off as she used her fork to roll a bright red raspberry around on her plate, "I'd like to think I'm just the right amount of positivity."
"Very debatable."
He blinked in surprise when she stole his cup of coffee, taking a sip and then grimacing in disgust.
"Ugh," she groaned, wrinkling her nose at him, "Too bitter."
He swiped her fork away and dug into her cake, taking a bite. He tapped her nose with the dull end of the utensil, commenting, "Too sweet."
She grinned back before adding more sugar and cream to his black coffee despite his disapproval.
