Part 10

Meanwhile, EmperorGreymon's forces are taking a rest in a campsite they recently made, so far away from the border line. Everyone is asleep, except for Ken and Wormmon, who are wandering around, before they find Eragon sitting on a rock, watching a storm brewing over a mountain range miles ahead.

Eragon: Couldn't sleep?

Ken: I'm not used to sleeping in grass. What about you?

Eragon: I rarely sleep.

Ken decides to pull up a rock and sits beside Eragon to watch the storming mountains.

Ken: Is… Death Tower other there?

Eragon: Yes. Beyond those mountains. But Ken… you were the Digimon Emperor once, so… wouldn't know anything about it?

Ken: I was… which wasn't so pleasant when I learned a… horrible truth. I didn't know much about the Digimon, until it came to me, and I've been regreting it ever since.

Wormmon: But he has heard the legends of the Shadow Continent. Sadly, we've been told that… once in, there's no way out. Ken sent so many slaves to go check it out, but none of them returned.

Ken: And Eragon, you said something about another wave. As in what?

Eragon: I mean… another army to face off. Darkdramon has forces all around us, whether or not we know about it. He had the Deep Savers, and then the Nightmare Soldiers, but all of that was only the first wave of the Metal Empire's superiority. For now, we would have to face a second wave, then it'll be the third, and the fourth-

Ken: And then we're done. I get it.

Eragon: But it only gets worse. When it attacks, its full strength gathers. Not only machines, but beasts as well. Swarms of insects from the jungle, and raptors in the air. All willing to serve their master. This will be Judgement Day for us all as we know it. If this army falls, the last defence of the continent will be gone, and the Metal Empire will spread across the Digital World like a plague, until Darkdramon becomes the master of us all.

Wormmon: Is there a way to stop the Empire?

Eragon: There may be a way. Darkdramon is the only Mega-level Digimon in the Shadow Continent. So… it would have to take another Digimon in the Mega level to face him.

Ken: Then Davis and I can handle that. Our Digimon can DNA digivolve all the way to Imperialdramon Fighter Mode, and when he does, we can defeat Darkdramon easily.

But then, Davis, Veemon and Guilmon come over to the two on cue.

Davis: I don't know about that, Ken. I mean, it's not that I don't like the idea, but it's mostly because Veemon has a new Champion level and I can become a Digimon myself. When they two of us come together, we become a whole new form that I find to be super cool.

Veemon: Yeah. But we don't want you to feel left out or anything.

Ken: No worries. We've only come here to help you in any way we can.

Davis: Hey Eragon, back in the village… you hesitated. What happened?

Guilmon: I saw it. He was remembering Marcus from eight years ago. Long before he became a Black Hybrid.

Eragon: [pauses] He's… right. My memories are coming back slowly.

Ken: What do you mean?

Davis: Eragon was suffering amnesia when he was injected with Black Energy eight years ago. He doesn't know who he is or where he came from.

Eragon: But ever since I first came to the Human World, I'm starting to remember my past.

Veemon: Is that why you cried when he passed out?

[3 second silence]

Eragon: I think I know why. It was regret. I remember my childhood. I was… a different person that time.

[FLASHBACK]

Ten year old Eragon is sitting down in the living room, watching TV by himself and he looks disappointed about something. Something is blurring on his head, as if Eragon doesn't remember what it was before.

Eragon/narrating: My mother was a kindergarten teacher and my father owned a noodle cart, which became a franchise. Since my dad was so caught up at work, we barely spent time together, so it's only been me and my brother for a long time.

Then, twelve year old Marcus comes in the house through the door and coming in is his mother, whose face is blurred.

Young Marcus: Hey, we're home!

Mother: Eragon? How was soccer today?

[5 second silence]

Mother: Baby?

Young Marcus: I think I know that look. It could only mean-

Right before Marcus can finish, the father comes in, also having his face blurred, then Eragon angrily walks over to him.

Young Eragon: I missed soccer… again!

Father: How can you missed it when it's a sunny-

Young Eragon: You couldn't make it. You said you would drop me off there, but you never did.

Father: Eragon, I'm sorry. I was so caught up at work, I couldn't turn whatever offer I couldn't ignore.

Mother: Please, try to give him a break.

Young Eragon: I can't… because he never got to spend time with me, like all my friends can. And because I missed the game, I don't have any friends anymore.

Father: Now wait a minute. I'm doing all I can to-

Young Eragon: You're never there for me! I hate you!

Eragon throws the blurred object off his head, and runs away from home.

Mother: Eragon, wait! Eragon!

[FLASHBACK ENDS]

After hearing that story, Davis and Ken look at Eragon with pity because of what he did.

Ken: You ran away?

Eragon: I did. The last thing I said to him was I hated him. Now when you hate something, you'd wish they're never born. I didn't know the meaning of the word until the Harmonious Ones took me in and… I remembered what I said.

Eragon is shedding a tear for remembering it again, then Davis gives him a napkin to have him wipe it off.

Davis: Relax. I'm sure he would understand you didn't mean it.

Eragon: What makes you think so?

Davis: If you really loved your father, you wouldn't be crying like that. And he probably knows that, or else he wouldn't be called a dad.

Veemon: [amazed] Wow, Davis. You almost sounded like Eragon, with you being so wise and all.

Ken: Well, he wouldn't be our team leader without being selfless. Then again, he's being a little more mature than usual.

Davis: [chuckles] I've been following a not-so-bad teacher.

Guilmon: Yeah. Eragon may be so savage, but he means well. And I should know.

Eragon nudges Guilmon to silence him, but he is cracking a smile at that.

Ken: But I've been wondering. Where did your father get your name from?

Eragon: That's actually an interesting story. When he was younger, he began reading the novel Eragon and he liked it so much, he read the whole series. He had the idea of naming me after his fictional hero.

Davis: No kidding? I just started reading it.

Guilmon: [yawns] Eragon, can we sleep now?

Eragon: Alright. Let's get some rest.

Eragon and Guilmon both walk over to get some sleep, followed by Veemon and Wormmon. But Davis and Ken both stop in their tracks when Ken pulls Davis back by the arm.

Ken: Something's not making sense here.

Davis: What do you mean?

Ken: He is eighteen years old, and he's named after a fictional character from Eragon? That book was published last year. There's something strange about him and, maybe, his brother.

Davis: Hey, don't make Eragon the bad guy or something, okay Ken?

Ken: I'm not saying he's a bad guy. I'm saying we need to know more about him, if he really wants to remember more. But where could he be from?

Meanwhile, Kari is sleeping in bed back in Maro Village. But then, she begins to have a dream where she sees Sandiramon's decaying body before her.

Sandiramon: The past will change the future!

Then, she wakes up from the dream, gasping in fright. Gatomon and Impmon, who are sleeping beside her, wake up when she does.

Gatomon: What happened?

Kari: I saw… Sandiramon. He was saying the past will change the future. But… what does he mean?

Impmon: You dolt! It was just a dream.

Kari: No, it was a memory. Those were his words before he died. But I need to know what it means. And the only person who would know the answer is Darkdramon himself.

Gatomon: Kari, no. You can't reason with him too.

Kari: No. Not this time, I swear. We're going to Death Tower and spy on them, to know more about their plans. And we do, we'll tell the others.

Impmon: Oh, so you're taking my word of advice. Well, better late than never.

Kari, Gatomon and Impmon sneak their way out the door, and they tip-toe their way to the side of the wall. A PawnChessmon is patrolling towards them, but they hide behind barrels before he could see them. With him gone, the trio head to the side door and go through it. Now outside, Kari grabs her Digivice.

Kari: Gatomon, do it quiet-

[twigs snap]

Gatomon: Shhh.

Gatomon and Impmon tip-toe towards the bushes where they heard that snapping sound. Like wild cats, Gatomon pounces into the bush, grappling someone, and Impmon reaches out to pull him out. It turns out to be Clockmon, hooded and cloaked.

Clockmon: Please, don't hit me! I'm only a clock; I've got no pockets. Not even money!

Impmon: Oh, it's Clockmon. Darkdramon's servant.

Clockmon: You got me all wrong. I'm no one's servant.

Kari: Impmon, get off of him.

Clockmon looks at Kari, who is coming over to his side, and he is stunned to see her.

Clockmon: Kari Kamiya. My dear child, you've finally come.

Kari: You know my name?

Clockmon: Oh, I know more than just your name.

Impmon: Don't listen to him. He's with the Metal Empire.

Gatomon: You're one to talk.

Kari: Quiet! Clockmon, why are you here?

Clockmon regains his bearings, dusting the dirt off of him so he can explain something to Kari.

Clockmon: Darkdramon is up to no good, which is no surprise there. But he is planning an assault on something much more than the Digital World for his own intuition.

Gatomon: Can something it explain how you know my partner's name?

Clockmon: I was… some of the Digimon modified by Darkdramon, As a soothsayer, a fortune teller, I was granted the power of seeing the future, and the first thing he asked of me was to know if his empire would do some conquering.

Kari: We've all heard the story. Just eight years ago, he failed that conquest.

Clockmon: That assault from long ago was to deal with the Digimon who have resisted his authority. The actual battle he's plotting is going to come first thing in the morning, only this time… he's both confident and cautious about any outcome this war would bring him. I foretold that somebody would stand in his way: the DigiDestined. So during the battle eight years old… made the Empire build him a portal to the Human World and send a Digimon there.

Hearing it all, Kari is having a feeling about what Clockmon just said to them all.

Gatomon: [curious] Kari, do you think…?

Kari: Parrotmon? The Digimon who attacked when I was very-

Clockmon: Yes. He was sent there, by Darkdramon's order. But he was having a feeling that I wasn't telling more, so he beated me up until I told him that you and the others would survive. So… before the attack, he opened the portal to capture children, including Eragon, to fuse them with Black Energy, to create the Black Hybrids.

Impmon: Okay. So we know they came from the Human World. That explains a lot.

Kari: But there's something I need to know. It's about Marcus. He has a white whistle around him. Why?

Clockmon: He claims… it belonged to his mother, but that's it.

Kari: That's it? He wore a whistle, and it looked like the one I had four years ago, the same whistle I wore! Don't give me riddles, tell me about him!

Clockmon: Some details… can be too much to comprehend. I can see the future, but I don't know who would it be. I just know that you are one of the children who were there when Digimon first came to the Human World.

Gatomon: Okay, so how do we reverse the part where the kids became Black Hybrids?

Clockmon: They cannot remove their Digibands without killing themselves. The Black Hybrids were all created here in the Digital World. But if they were to get injured, like having a scar, they would regain their senses, and should they return to the Human World, they'll remember the past. That's how it all works out.

Kari remembers when Eragon first came to the Human World, it brought him some of his memories of the past beyond the time he became a Black Hybrid. And then, she gets an idea.

Kari: Impmon, the TV.

Impmon: Huh? You're planning to run away and you're telling me to go back in there for some TV time on the way?

Kari: Trust me, I have an idea. Clockmon, you're coming with us for more answers. Gatomon….

Gatomon: Right. Gatomon digivolve to…

Angewomon: Angewomon!

Angewomon carries Kari, Clockmon and Impon in her arms, and she flies off into the air. Impmon carries the TV, but he struggles to hold it.

Impmon: Do I have to carry this? I don't have a muscle man's arms.

Angewomon: I could always drop you.

Kari: Not now, you two. My idea is a way to keep Eragon and Marcus from fighting each other and save them both.

Angewomon keeps flying ahead over the trees, but they are being spotted by a Giromon stalking them in the canopy.

Part 11

At the far edge of Shangly Forest, Cherrymon is still walking with the DigiDestined still asleep. But when the morning light shines on Tai, he wakes up immediately, yawning, and the others do the same.

Agumon: [yawns] Morning, Tai.

Tai: We're still heading there? This forest is a little bigger than I thought it would.

Sora: I slept very well up here, you guys.

Mimi: Me too. I was dreaming that I was on a cloud, and… I was a queen to everyone who looked up to me.

Palmon: Are we there yet?

Cherrymon: Here we are.

Cherrymon makes a stop and he put the DigiDestined back down to the ground one by one. The teens look around themselves, and all they can see is a scorching desert up ahead, but no coliseum anywhere.

Gabumon: Where's the coliseum?

Matt: Not there, obviously. We've taken the wrong turn.

Cherrymon: No, this is the right place. See that tiny star over there? Follow it and you'll get to the Western Coliseum.

Sora: Aren't you going to come with us?

Cherrymon: Sadly, no. The trees have kept saying there will be a war. I must keep a watchful eye on the wild Digimon here to help them survive any outcome we may go through. This is as far as I can take you. Good luck.

With Cherrymon leaving, the DigiDestined are making their journey to the Western Coliseum, wherever it is in this desert. But the journey is beginning to take longer than they would think. Gomamon is walking in exhaustion with Joe.

Later, they are on a cliff, and Palmon moans in exhaustion. Izzy is on the other cliff. He moans and lies on his belly. Tai is on top of the cliff.

Tai: Come on, you guys. We can't give up now.

Tentomon: Don't take it the wrong way, but… we should fly there.

Izzy: No, the others say they can track us in the air. We have to stay on foot.

Sora: Let's try going to the top of that hill first.

The DigiDestined start to climb the rest of the way to the top. They are on the edge of a cliff with exhaustion. They look down to a rocky area.

Biyomon: No Sky Tower anywhere. So we can fly the rest of the way.

Tai: Let's do it. Because this heat is beginning to-

Before Tai can finish, the floor of the hilltop collapses downwards; the floor is really a giant trap door. The entire team falls down a chute, slides through a tunnel, and lands in a giant wooden cage, where it rolls them down onto sand. As they struggle to get up, they find out they're inside a coliseum that looks like the one in Ancient Rome.

Sora: Where are we now?

Izzy: If I'm not mistaken, we're inside the Roman Coliseum.

Mimi: Is, uh…. Is it where they played football?

Izzy: Not really. You see, in Ancient Rome, people would come to the coliseum to watch all kinds of events.

Mimi: You mean like sports and music?

Matt: Yeah, they did that too. But the coliseum was famous for it's where the Roman gladiators fight each other and the lions.

Biyomon: Well, it looks deserted now.

Gomamon: But hey, this is the Western Coliseum, right? So that means we should be finding the Digimon living here.

Palmon: That's right, but where is everybody?

Tentomon: Maybe they're taking a nape.

Then, torches are lit everywhere and warrior-like Digimon show up with furious roars, startling the kids a bit. At a throne lounge, a large Digimon comes out and it reveals itself to be Vajramon. He raises his hand up, silencing the others on the bleachers.

Vajramon: Well, you've made it here, have you? And my monks were ready to pray for you. I am Vajramon, King of the Western Coliseum.

[DIGIMON ANALYSER]

Agumon: Vajramon is no joke. Despite the fact that he's a cow, he's a formidable warrior with his two sharp swords.

[END D.A.]

Joe: But wait a minute. Nobody would live in a wasteland. Not a whole city.

Vajramon: Ahh yes… we ARE the forgotten ones. The Metal Empire's refuse, thrown out and left to die. Just as you were, perhaps. But now that you have made it here, your life belongs to the people of this coliseum. And we will use it well, if it's actually worth anything.

Sora: Hey! That sounds like a bad deal!

Vajramon: You are in no position to "deal". Out here everything is either useful or dead weight. Prove yourselves worthy, or the desert will be your grave.

Matt: [glaring] You need to work on making a better first impression.

Vajramon: Ha ha ha! In the Wasteland of the West, we value strength and survival above all. We will see where you stand soon enough.

Tai: Listen, Vajramon. We've come because we have to. We're the DigiDestined, and the Metal Empire is going to conquer the Digital World, unless we work together.

Vajramon: We know what is happening out there. But we have zero interest in helping those weaklings. They all just want to have peace, instead of war.

Agumon: What if I would tell you that if we have you join us, you can just face off any enemy you want?

Vajramon: That's what we do for a living. However… Darkdramon was once my closest friend, and he casted me here because I wouldn't submit to his rule or any of his plans. If you want us to join you, then show us all what you can be in a fight. Just the bravest crawl out and are allowed to lead us. It's quite simple really.

Joe: Um, what happens to the ones that don't crawl out?

Vajramon: Then it will be as if we never met you.

Joe: [gulps nervously] I was afraid of that.

Tai: Suit yourself. Bring one of your boys out.

Vajramon: So be it. [into intercom] Bring out the champion of the home team!

[bell rings]

Part 12

At the other end of the coliseum, a gate is opened and coming out from there is Kumamon, carrying his launcher.

[DIGIMON ANALYSER]

Tentomon: Kumamon is not a capable warrior, but he can freeze you to the death with his Crystal Breeze attack.

[END D.A.]

Kumamon: Blizzard Blaster!

He blindly fires supercooled snowballs from a launcher, and the DigiDestined scatter out of the way.

Agumon: Digimon, attack! Pepper Breath!

Agumon fires his Pepper Breath, and it was enough to blast Kumamon away. The other Digimon charge in for the attack, but Kumamon turns into a big snowball and rolls away from their various blows.

Sora: What gives?

Matt: It's like he's being a cartoon character.

Kumamon: Big deal. I can fight bigger bad guys! Crystal Breeze!

Kumamon, reverting to his true form, blows cold wind from his mouth to freeze the ground, making some of the Digimon to slip and fall. Then, Kumamon blows it again to create a fog all over the battlefield.

Mimi: I can't see a thing.

Tai: Stay alert. He could be stalking us.

The DigiDestined are staring at the fog, trying to see if they can find Kumamon anywhere, but it is too thick for them to see. Vajramon, sitting in his throne, turns behind him, grabs the mic and talks to one of the DigiDestined.

Vajramon: Short-stuff, watch your tail, son!

Izzy: Who's tail?

Then, Kumamon shows up, grabs his shirt and Izzy yells as he gets slammed to the wall. Izzy gets zapped by something on the wall and it makes Izzy levitate up to the bleachers, sitting beside an Ogremon.

Izzy: What happened?

Ogremon: You touched the wall. Whenever you touch the wall, you're defeated and forced to watch.

Tentomon: Super- [yells]

[zapping]

Tentomon gets to end up sitting beside Izzy in the bleachers.

Tentomon: …Shocker?

Kumamon rolls around in his snowball form, trying to get all of the others to hit the wall, but the DigiDestined are just going all over the field instead. Biyomon is flying blindly through the remains of the fading fog, then she crashes onto the wall, electrocuted to be forced onto the bleachers beside Tentomon.

Biyomon: I should've flown the other way.

Izzy: Guys! Get him to touch the wall! It'll kick him out!

Palmon: I can do it. Poison Ivy!

Palmon entangles Kumamon in ivy, lashing onto him, and she throws him across the field to hit the wall. Then Kumamon gets zapped, being forced to sit on the bleachers. When that's done, the battle is over and the crowd cheers as Vajramon talks over the intercom.

Vajramon: That was only the first level. It's supposed to be easy. Now… bring out the home team's mascots!

[bell rings]

The gate is opened again, and two Tuskmon come out, roaring and growling.

Sora: Tuskmon?! Again?!

Joe: [worried] You know, I'm starting to miss the old days when it was easier for us!

Gomamon: Me too.

Tai: Not to worry. Our Digimon just have to digivolve.

Matt: Gabumon, get ready.

One by one, the Digimon digivolve to their Champion levels, except for Biyomon because she's on the bleachers and Sora is still on the field.

Greymon: Nova Blast!

Gururumon: Howling Blaster!

Both Digimon fire their breath attacks at the Tuskmon pair, who just scatter all over to avoid them.

Tuskmon: Slamming Tusk!

A Tuskmon slams onto Greymon, and the two dinosaur-like Digimon wrestle each other. The other one gets tackled by Gururumon, and they both fight all over the sand. During the wrestle, Greymon's tail accidently whacks Tai, Matt and Sora to the wall, and it zaps them to the bleachers.

Greymon: Oops. Sorry.

Then, Tuskmon pushed Greymon to the wall, shocking him just by touching it, and he's forced to be on the bleachers, reverting back to Agumon beside a Knightmon.

Agumon: I'm back? But I-

Knightmon: You were too big, son. The wall had to put you back to the Rookie level.

Gururumon is pushed away by the Tuskmon he was facing, and he gets zapped by the wall from touching it, reverting to Gabumon to sit on the bleachers.

Togemon: Needle Spray!

Togemon fires needles from his face, and they hit the Tuskmon who defeated Gururumon.

Ikkakumon: Harpoon Torpedo!

Ikkakumon shoots his regrowable horn like a missile at the other Tuskmon, sending him to collide on the wall, and it zaps him away. But the remaining Tuskmon is left behind, and he slams Ikkakumon away with his tail.

Sora: Dirty fighters!

Joe: Ikkakumon, get up!

Ikkakumon: [groans] I'm… trying to….

The Tuskmon scratches his foot on the dirt like a bull ready to charge, and he is about to charge when Togemon shows up.

Togemon: Hold it right there, Sharptooth! It's go time.

With her boxing gloves, Togemon punches Tuskmon in the face. The dinosaur Digimon tries to do the same, but his arms are too puny, so Togemon punches him multiple times until he touches the wall to zap him out of the field, winning the battle. The crowd roars in cheer again for the remaining DigiDestined's second victory, even the others are cheering, but Vajramon is dumbstruck to see it happening.

Vajramon: This is… too inconceivable. Barely anyone makes it past the second round of the battlefield. How can a bunch of mere children deal with this sort of situation without barely earning a scar or breaking a bone? I… have got nothing to say about this. Except…. [into intercom] BRING OUT THE NEXT CHAMPION!

[bell rings]

The gate opens again, and coming out of it is a Groundramon.

Sora: That doesn't look good at all.

[DIGIMON ANALYSER]

Biyomon: That's Groundramon. An enormous reptile with the wings becoming the crushing arms. If you've seen demolition before, this one can do it without lifting a finger.

[END D.A.]

Groundramon charges his way like a bull, and the two Digimon scatter to avoid the blow.

Groundramon: Megaton Hammer Crush!

He knocks Ikkakumon out with the iron sphere on his tail, which makes him dizzy. When Groundramon sees Mimi, he is about to do the same, but Joe swiftly pushes out of the way, before the sphere hits the ground and the blow pushes Joe to the wall, zapping him to the bleachers.

Tai: Joe. You just-

Joe: I know I did. Otherwise, I wouldn't have my Crest, would I?

Groundramon bites on Ikkakumon and throws him to the wall, zapping him to the bleachers as Gomamon. Now it is up to Mimi and Togemon to face the beast by themselves, but Mimi is a little frightened.

Sora: Mimi! It's up to you now! You and Togemon must face him!

Mimi: But I can't! He's big, strong, and scary!

Togemon: Mimi… it's alright. I just have to digivolve again. You just have to think about what's right. The other kids are counting on us.

Mimi thinks about it, knowing the others are counting on her and her friends to join them with the Digimon here in the Coliseum. She mustards all the courage she has, and grabs her Digivice, which begins to glow.

Mimi: Go show him!

Togemon: Togemon, digivolve to…

Lillymon: Lillymon!

Now in the air, Lillymon swoops around Groundramon, who constantly tries to jump and eat her, but he jumps too low. But then, with so much pollen Lillymon is spread as she flies, Groundramon begins to sneeze like he is allergic.

That gives Mimi an idea.

Mimi: Of course. Keep doing it!

Lillymon flies all over the place, making Groundramon sneeze more and more, which makes him walk back close to the wall to get away from the pollen.

Lillymon: Flower Cannon!

She thrusts both of her arms forward, makes a gun muzzle from the petals on her wrists, and fires an energy shell. It hits the ground, makes Groundramon move back, and the metal sphere on his tail touches the wall, zapping him out of the arena.

There is a silent moment as everyone stares in awe, and the Digimon applaud louder than before because Mimi and Lillymon have become the new champions, much to Vajramon's shock. The DigiDestined jump back into the field and hug Mimi for her success.

Sora: Well done, Mimi!

Izzy: That was smart thinking there.

Tai: You've done it.

Mimi: [blushing] Oh, you guys.

Vajramon comes over to Mimi, and he kneels in defeat.

Vajramon: You have shown… great skill and resourcefulness. From this moment on… we… submit to you.

Later, the DigiDestined are outside back in the wasteland with Vajramon at their side, and they see a fleet of Blimpmon, Crowmon, Thunderbirdmon, and Harpymon flying from afar.

Izzy: The Wind Guardians. Eragon said they're one of the armies with the Empire.

Mimi: So now what?

Vajramon: It's your decision. You are the champion, you are the thinker. What are your orders?

Mimi looks at the flock in thought, then she gets an idea.

Part 13

In Death Tower, Darkdramon stands before the crystallized Digimon below the forge as it continues flowing lava.

Darkdramon: Yes. You can feel it, can you? The Black Energy is sipping back into your veins as it once did before. Even now the rebels are advancing, I am not worried at all… because you'll be able to shatter the wretched seal that keeps you and your destiny apart, as soon as you're replenished. At the end of it, there will be no room for weaklings like the human race, who only wash their hands to wipe off the filth that reminds them of the past. Together, you and I will have all living beings… to obey our will.

But a Datamon comes over to Darkdramon, interrupting him.

Datamon: My lord.

Darkdramon: What is it now?

Datamon: We've looked around for Clockmon. He's… gone. The Pteramon are sent out to go looking for him. Also… there are rumours that he is gone.

Darkdramon: Then SILENCE them! I don't want any debate or refuse in my Empire, not when I'm so close to victory at last. And besides, we made a copy of his power, enough to open the door for us. Has Seth given us a signal?

Datamon: They're on their way now, sir. Plus I've received word that the Wind Guardians are passing the Wasteland of the West.

Darkdramon: Good. Now… is the time. Have all of our troops ready and tell Marcus to meet me at the podium.

Datamon pows to Darkdramon before taking his leave. Darkdramon looks at the crystallized Digimon with a smirk, and he pushes a button on the wall that levitates the giant gem upward.

Outside, Angewomon is able to fly into the tower through some large holes and she drops the others to walk down a tunnel.

Clockmon: If I knew your plan would have the idea of heading here, I would've said no.

Impmon: I don't like this idea. I'm starting to prefer the last one we did better.

Kari: Relax. Once we find Marcus, we'll come up with a way of convincing him to come with us in order to restore his memories.

Impmon: And what, he'll get all lovey-dovey all of a sudden?

Angewomon: It has worked on Eragon back then, so it makes sense if it happens to him.

Kari: And then, they won't have to fight.

Clockmon: My dear… it could be a trap, this path you're taking. If Darkdramon finds you here, he'll do more than vapourize you. He will do far worse to Eragon and his brother.

Kari: What could it be? Clockmon, just tell me.

Clockmon: [pauses] That whistle… is yours. You gave it to Marcus… when he was younger.

Angewomon: What's that supposed to mean?

Kari: What are you talking about? I've never met him before in all my life. So how could I've given my whistle to him?

Before Clockmon can say anything, there is a roaring cheer from a wide vent on the left. They all look through it to find an army of millions chanting and roaring for the arrival of Darkdramon, who comes to the podium flanked by Marcus and Cyberdramon. At the podium, Darkdramon gives his speech.

Darkdramon: Welcome, my faithful soldiers! Together we have achieved great many things with imperial power. We've created a vast, complex system. We've maintained it, improved it, and we nearly rid it of its rebellion. But that part is going to be taken care of by us all. Not to mention, hid it from the human race who sought to enslave us! Who needs them now?! [laughs] My fellow Digimon, let there be no doubt that our Empire is a splinter no more. For at this moment, the super weapon for the new frontier will soon be at full capacity!

The crowd cheers as he gestures to the crystallized Digimon behind him. Kari peers at the gem, seeing the Digimon inside of it.

Kari: A Digimon?

Clockmon: Not any. Megidramon!

Kari is stunned to hear that it's the fiendish dragon that attacked the Shadow Continent years ago. Then, a hologram shows the globes of the Earth and the Digital World over the army as Darkdramon explains more of his plan.

Darkdramon: Once the rebels are vanquished for good, we will have nothing to fear as we continue our conquest for the Digital World. And unlike the selfish humans, who reserve the privilege of crossovers only for themself, I will make their world open and available to all of us. YES, TO ALL OF US!

Kari: [gasps] Oh no!

Angewomon: An invasion… on both worlds.

Darkdramon: Whatever comes at us, our power will grow, our power will blossom, and it will last forever and ever! Do this, prove yourselves to me, be loyal to me, fight for me, and I will never desert you! And then, NOTHING CAN STOP US!

[army cheers]

Darkdramon: General, give the order to march.

Cyberdramon: Yes, sire. [roaring]

The wall opens like a gate and the entire army marches out of the tower for war. Kari and the others are still watching it from the vents, and she's panicking because of everything she's heard.

Kari: This is bad. It's worse than I thought.

Impmon: Well, that's it! Time to evacuate!

Angewomon: Hold it. We have to wait for Kari's advice.

Kari tries to have some thoughts about what to do, then she turns to Clockmon to give him a threatening glare.

Kari: You are going to tell me everything right now… or I will be very unhappy.

Clockmon is frightened to see her that way, then he sighs in defeat.

Part 14

Outside the land, the rebel army is standing before the massive gate where it should take them to Death Tower. Eragon, Davis, Ken and Yolei are all wearing protective armour, and stand in front of the army as commanders with EmperorGreymon in the middle. Then, the Mammothmon squad comes along from the trees; showing up to the front are TK and Cody, also wearing armour.

Eragon: This is it. This… is when things get serious.

Davis: Yeah, but… how many are we going to face here?

Ken: It doesn't matter. What matters now are the lives we have to save.

Yolei: No matter what it takes, we'll never give up.

Cody: And we're all willing to protect the people we know from whatever means.

TK: And if it kills us… we won't back down.

EmperorGreymon: My Generals, you've all proven to be brave and true warriors in the face of extreme danger. After this, you will be recognized as true heroes.

Eragon: And there's more: For as long as I can remember, I've always been alone… because I was thinking it was better for me. I realized now… it never was. Even though we're not all related… you're basically like a family to me.

Davis smiles at that comment, and he pats on Eragon's shoulder.

Davis: Then together… we will fight… like the family you wanted.

Eragon: And now… to the final battle. Together.

DigiDestined: Together!

The main gate opens and the Metal Empire moves on the march. The rebels assemble themselves; Eragon and Davis both activate their Digibands, and the Digimon partners digivolve one by one. Both armies look at each other, then they charge towards each other, starting the final battle.

Ken, with the Culi Sword, runs on a boulder and slashes a Tankdramon's gun barrel, disabling its firepower. Then Stingmon stabs it in the face, defeating Tankdramon. Cody and Yolei are on the ground close to Ken. With Cody's Deflector Shield making a force field and Yolei blowing her Horn of Gavilar to disorient the Commandramon, Ken and Stingmon fight them off with the advantage. TK is there too, shooting his Homing Arrows.

Ken: This is what you've been doing all this time? It's a little thrilling.

TK: We've gotten used to it by now.

Aquilamon: Blast Rings!

Angemon: Hand of Fate!

Both Angemon and Aquilamon fire their attacks at the Pteramon in the air with some Butterflymon following them. Then, a Gigidramon shows up to counter them.

Gigidramon: Genocide Gear!

It fires countless organic missiles from both of its arms, trying to hit the airborne Digimon who are evading them.

On the ground, the Major's troops stampedes through the battlefield, trampling onto the Commandramon and Sealsdramon, then the Tankdramon and the MetalKabuterimon come in to blast them. Some of the Mammothmon are killed, but the Major and a handful of his troops survived to crush the tanks.

Major: Operation: Recycling is commencing w-

Then, a MetalTyrannomon picks the Major up and hurls him to the PawnChessmon, next to a pit of fiery coals. The Major crashes into the pit, knocking it over, spilling out the coals, causing fire to spread part of the battlefield.

Kyubimon: Dragon Wheel!

Kyubimon engulfs herself in a blue, fiery wheel and rolls through the Empire, whipping them out, until MetalTyrannomon slashes her with her tail.

MetalTyrannomon: Nuclear Laser!

It fires an energy shell from its left arm, and it is heading towards the fallen Kyubimon, but EmperorGreymon steps in and deflects the blow with his sword, saving her life. He rushes in for the MetalTyrannomon, and stabs it in the chest to kill it.

EmperorGreymon: [to Kyubimon] Stand firm, captain. We've got a battle to win here.

Kyubimon: Yes, sir.

Part 15

BlackExVeemon punches his way through the Commandramon in his way, kicks a few Sealsdramon, and lifts a Tankdramon over to knock over another. Then, BlackMaildramon rams onto him, and they fall down a hill.

Growlmon: Eragon! I'm coming!

Growlmon is about to slide down, but gets tackled by a Giromon and he chases after it instead.

Down the hill, BlackExVeemon slowly gets up, until BlackMaildramon rams him to a wall.

BlackMailmon: Your treachery ends today!

BlackExVeemon: Marcus, Darkdramon's using you! He cares nothing about us, only to himself!

BlackMaildramon: He cares for the Digimon, and we're a part of that subject!

BlackExVeemon: We're not, we're human beings!

BlackMaildramon charges, and BlackExVeemon pounds him on the face, beginning a vicious fight.

BlackMaildramon: Let go of my leg!

Then BlackMaildramon gets tossed onto a boulder and runs back to his brother.

Back on the battlefield, GeoGreymon looks down to see BlackExVeemon needing help. He is about to jump down, but then Cyberdramon kicks him in the face and he goes flying fifty yards away.

Cyberdramon: Desolation Claw!

But before he can slash GeoGreymon, Veedramon rams him away, saving his partner's life.

Veedramon: Davis, let's do it!

GeoGreymon: Yeah. Powerlink, engage!

GeoGreymon swipes on his Digiband, turning into magical dust, and it swirls around Veedramon to help him digivolve.

Veedramon: Veedramon, digivolve to…

AeroVeedramon: AeroVeedramon!

He takes off into the air and engages Cyberdramon in a fight, slamming each other onto the wall.

EmperorGreymon and Ken both slash their swords at the enemies circling around them, defeating them all one by one.

EmperorGreymon: Not bad sword swinging.

Ken: Thanks, I did some Kendo classes.

[faint buzzing]

Ken: Wait…. Do you hear that?

Ken looks at Death Tower and sees something flying over the building. It is a swarm of bug-like Digimon: Flymon, Roachmon, Snimon, Kuwagamon and Okuwamon. BlackStingmon is standing an Okuwamon on it's head, riding it with a rein attached to the teeth.

EmperorGreymon: Jungle Troopers!

BlackStingmon: Let's give 'em one HECK OF AN INFESTATION!

The Jungle Troopers fly down for the attack. Some land on the ground, and the rest stay in the air to engage the flyers led by Aquilamon and Angemon. Both of the Digimon are struggling to keep the bugs out of the way, but they keep swarming in.

Angemon: We can't keep it up much longer.

Aquilamon: Where's an exterminator when you need one?

Then, a series of arrows are fired from the woods and they take out the bugs all around the two.

Angemon: What was that?

Emerging from the trees are Sagitarrimon, the ones followed by the Captain back from outside the continent. They fire their arrows to join in with the rebels against the Empire. The Captain makes his way to the DigiDestined, shooting arrows beside TK.

TK: Captain? When did you get here?

Captain: Just a few hours ago. Lady Zephyrmon was able to talk some sense into the fishy queen.

At a coast, a wave splashes onto the MetalKabuterimon squad, and the Deep Savers come crashing in to face the Empire. But emerging from the water are Mermaimon and Zephyrmon side by side, blasting energy beams at any opponent in their sight.

Zephyrmon: This shall be a moment to remember.

Mermaimon: Indeed. From this moment on, the Deep Savers will side with the rebels.

From afar, the DigiDestined see them both, and they are equally surprised.

Captain: Alas, this won't be enough. The Metal Empire is bigger than you think.

Cody: He'll have to keep it up until the others get here.

Meanwhile, BlackExVeemon and BlackMaildramon ram each other, each trying to win.

BlackMaildramon: Take that!

He tosses BlackExVeemon onto a boulder, then BlackExVeemon grabs the boulder to throw it at his brother. BlackMaildramon wall-kicks the boulder and rams into BlackExVeemon. Eventually, both of the brothers are bleeding so badly, they're forced to turn off their Digibands to revert back to their true forms.

Eragon: We shouldn't be… fighting like enemies.

Marcus: We are! You've become a traitor. You left us! You abandoned me! You just ran away!

Eragon: I know I did… because that was all I could think about. But then… I met the DigiDestined, and they helped me see the error of my ways. But long before them… you came and tried to help me.

Hearing it, Marcus is baffled as he is trying to remember.

Marcus: I… did?

Eragon: Don't you remember?

Marcus: [pauses; angrily] No! We are Digimon! We live for the prime for our kind, and you are the filth of all that stands against us!

Marcus and Eragon both charge in, then Kari comes rushing over with her Digivice in hand. She aims it at the TV set, which is carried by Clockmon, and it activates the gate. By the time Kari is in between the brothers, they are all transported into the gate on the TV screen.

Part 16

In the Human World, a laptop at a computer store opens the gate to the Digital World, and out from it come Kari, Eragon and Marcus crashing onto a playground.

Eragon: Kari? You brought us back?

Kari: Trust me, this plan is sure to work.

Marcus: [shocked] Where…? Where am I?

Kari: We're home. The world you and Eragon were born in.

Marcus: [furious] No! I'm a Di-

Suddenly, something happens to Marcus, causing his cranial agony. He grasps his head with both hands, and falls to his knees, groaning.

Kari: It's happening. His wounds are bigger than yours, so it's affecting him more.

Eragon: [realizing] He's remembering.

Marcus groans in pain as he is beginning to remember the past before the Digital World. In his memory, Eragon is still running away from home, heading into a deserted playground where nobody can be found. But then, Marcus comes over and blocks his path.

Young Eragon: Marcus, get out of my way!

Young Marcus: No, not a chance. You're my little brother. It's my responsibility to make sure you don't get into mischief. Let's just go home.

Young Eragon: No! I'm never going back to him again!

Young Marcus: Eragon, dad means well. [pauses] Look, I can't stand it either, but running away or hiding from your problems is not an answer. Mom and dad are both working hard, so none of us would lose our home. And if none of them can spend time with you… then I could.

Marcus extends his hand to Eragon, who is hesitant to reach out. And then, a portal appears before them and a smirking Darkdramon comes out to grab them both. The memory fades away, as Marcus is no longer in pain and he looks up at Eragon kneeling to him.

Marcus: Eragon…. I…. I….

Eragon: You remember, don't you?

Marcus: [pauses] Yes. You ran away, just like before. You couldn't stand dad's time in business over you, so you….

Eragon: I know. And I've been regretting it ever since.

Marcus: But I wanted to help you before we…. [pauses] I'm sorry, brother. For everything I said. That… wasn't me. None of it was me.

Before Marcus can finish, Eragon reaches out and holds onto his hand.

Eragon: It's alright. I forgive you. We both know the feeling of it, and now… we're on the same side, are we?

Marcus is hesitant to say anything, but he smiles and hugs Eragon to be reunited once again. Kari has tears running down her cheek, but she comes over and hugs them both.

Kari: I'm glad you're both together.

Marcus: You…. Thank you.

Eragon: Kari, how did you…?

Kari: It was Clockmon. He opened a portal to your… time. I was able to make him tell me everything about you. It all started with this.

She shows Eragon the whistle around Marcus's neck.

Kari: He's… wearing a whistle just like mine. And Eragon, you wore goggles back then.

Eragon has a flashback to his younger self, wearing the blur on his head before he took it off and ran away. But the blur changes to goggles, looking like the ones Davis wears.

Kari: It was my brother's, before he gave it to Davis, and in turn… he gave it to you.

Eragon is puzzled about everything Kari is telling him, but then he has a theory.

Eragon: Our time? Our time where we were abducted? But… if Davis gave me the goggles… that means….

Kari: Yes. He's… your father. And I'm your mother.

Eragon gets another flashback, this time it's when he sees his parents' blurry faces revealing to be the faces of Davis and Kari being older.

Eragon: You…. You are. You and Davis… are our parents.

Kari: And now… you know where you came from. And now… we'd need a way to remove Black Energy from you both.

Marcus: It won't work, because… it's been transferred into our blood and it's all blood. Megidramon's blood.

Kari: Hold on, Black Energy is a Digimon's blood?

Marcus: It is. Darkdramon has it in a lava form, but in the forge it becomes similar to black, foggy substance. When he learned how to harness it, he turned it into its liquid form, then he injected it into us, and the others. He captured us from the time… when humans and Digimon coexisted with each other, and used our Digimon's data as a shape for our forms.

Kari: I overheard his speech about invading both worlds. The Digital World and here.

Eragon: Then he must be stopped… at all costs. [to Marcus] But we need to know… are you with us?

Marcus becomes hesitant again, but he grasps onto Eragon's hand to shake it, meaning he's with them now.

Part 17

Back in the Digital World, the war is still brewing at the gateway, but most of the rebels are being overrunned by the Metal Empire. EmperorGreymon slashes his sword at all of the Commandramon in the way, but he gets blasted by a MetalTyrannomon's energy shell. The Captain comes over, and he gets blasted too, killing him. So many of the Butterflymon are being devoured and ripped apart by the swarming bugs in the air, but the rest are protected by Shakkoumon, who fights back against the Jungle Troopers.

AeroVeedramon is still facing Cyberdramon in the air, but the General kicks him to the wall with a hard impact. Cyberdramon grabs AeroVeedramon by the throat, choking him.

Cyberdramon: You're a fool, DigiDestined. I am a modified Digimon. I can defeat anything that stands in my way. I'd say it was nice meeting you, but now it is your time… to DIE!

But before Cyberdramon can finish him, AeroVeedramon slaps him on the face with his tail and flies away. Because he's gotten weakened from his fight, he falls down and lands in the middle of the circled DigiDestined reverting back to Davis and Veemon.

Ken: Davis, we can't keep this up. There's too many of them.

Davis: [groans] Okay.

Veemon: I think it's time we try fighting with Imperialdramon.

Davis: You're right. We'll have to try. Digivolve again. Ken, ready Stingmon.

With Davis's Digivice, Veemon digivolves to ExVeemon. He and Stingmon begin to DNA digivolve to Paildramon, and he digivolves again all the way to Imperialdramon Fighter Mode. When Cyberdramon sees him, he is shocked.

Cyberdramon: Oh no, they have a Mega-level Digimon. Impossible!

Imperialdramon: And you're gonna regret the time you threatened Davis when I'm through with you. Positron Laser!

He fires his Positron Laser, and Cyberdramon flies away to get away from the blast, but it gets him before he vaporizes.

Angewomon and Impmon are both joining the fighting, fighting side by side.

Impmon: Hey, Mrs. Miracles! Two already!

Angewomon: I've got nineteen.

Impmon: Huh?! I ain't having any angel pussy cat outscoring me! Budda Boom!

BlackStingmon is firing his Gatling Claws in the air while riding on his Okuwamon, enjoying it. But then, he sees the Blimpmon who are supposed to meet up with the Empire, and they crash-landed right onto the battlefield, on the enemy's side. Ticked, BlackStingmon flies over to go check it out.

BlackStingmon: What's the idea of crashing yourselves on OUR side?!

Much to his surprise, the older DigiDestined come out of the downed Blimpmon and stand side by side to glare at BlackStingmon. But Mimi is riding on Vajramon's back like he's a horse.

Tai: The type of guys who're gonna beat you up and steal your victory.

Mimi: Vajramon, show them what you've got!

Vajramon: CHARGE!

Vajramon leads the charge and his army of warrior Digimon follow him to the attack. BlackStingmon tries to fly away, but he gets stepped on by many of them, which kills him, and now the Digimon of the Western Coliseum are helping the rebels defeat the Metal Empire completely.

Angwomon sees a MetalTyrannomon charging towards her, but she isn't so scared.

Angewomon: Celestial Arrow!

She fires her arrow at MetalTyrannomon's face, and it kills him. Impmon sees it and he is stunned.

Impmon: That still only counts as one! Infernal Funnel!

Impmon summons a huge ball of fire from the ground and throws it at the rocky wall, which causes it to start a rockslide on top of the many evil Digimon next to it.

During the fight, Ken walks around and he sees EmperorGreymon fallen by the boulder.

Ken: EmperorGreymon!

EmperorGreymon: That was… one heck of a fight. It was worth it. [coughs] A good day to fight, and to die.

Ken: No, wait. You can't perish. Not right now! Look, the others have made it, and we've….

EmperorGreymon: I do not… need to know. I just know. I know you will win. I can feel it… in my heart. This is my journey in life, yours is beyond. I am very proud… to fight alongside… the Chosen Children.

And then, he draws his last breath and dies. Ken looks at him with a saddened face, and he puts his forehead on him.

Part 18

Just as the rebels are winning, a blast wave coming from Death Tower pushes them away to cease the battle. Darkdramon flies over with the crystallized Megidramon behind his back, and he lands on a huge gap in between the two sides.

Darkdramon: You're all fools. Every last one of you. Fighting for what? To protect and serve? Please. It's all a fantasy, and it's the real world. It's time you learn the truth about Digimon, that WE are superior.

Matt: You are so wrong in many ways.

Darkdramon: Silence, boy! All of you are just playing your final part.

Davis: Not a chance. Eragon is gonna beat your butt.

But Darkdramon holds onto Growlmon by the neck, and he chokes him to force him back to Guilmon. Then he tosses him to the DigiDestined, where they aid him.

Yolei: [worried] Guilmon! Are you okay?

Guilmon: [groans]

Darkdramon: No matter what you do, I will always win. And Eragon will perish in the hands of his own brother, and you'll lose your sons.

Davis: [puzzled] Sons? What did he mean…?

Then, Kari comes over with Eragon and Marcus at her side, and Darkdramon is surprised to see them together.

Kari: He knows what he's saying, Davis. Eragon and Marcus are from the future, abducted by him to simply toy with our family.

[3 second silence]

Izzy: Wait, are you saying…?

Eragon: Yes, Izzy. Marcus and I… are the sons of Davis and Kari.

Davis: [stunned] Wow. So we, uh….

Kari: Aren't you surprised?

Davis: Well, if Eragon wasn't being my mentor, I… would be-

Darkdramon: Dark Roar!

Darkdramon shoots a huge black ball of energy at the humans, but Clockmon steps in to deflect them with a clock-shaped force field.

Darkdramon: You dare!

Clockmon: You forced me to do your bidding for so long, but this is when I finally put my foot down. All you can think about is destroying the humans without remorse and without thinking.

Darkdramon: All I've done is for the Digimon's sake. Humans are ungrateful, unreliable, and unloved parasites of the Earth.

TK: Wait. What about Ricky?

Darkdramon: [pauses] I don't know what you're talking about.

TK: Richard Motomiya? The boy you were partnered with twenty years ago?

Darkdramon is stunned, visibly knowing what TK was talking about. But he hides it with a glare.

Darkdramon: It matters nothing!

But then, much to his surprise, Ricky shows up in between the DigiDestined and walks over to Darkdramon, who hovers down in shock.

Darkdramon: You….

Ricky: Darkdramon. Look at yourself. What has become of you?

Darkdramon: You should talk. I am no longer your partner.

Ricky: You don't get it. You and I are bound to be partnered until such times.

Darkdramon: I…. I was waiting a long time, waiting for you to come back, but… you never did. You left me behind. You abandoned me.

Ricky: I didn't. I was so busy, it stalled me. I was afraid you wouldn't make it.

Darkdramon: But I have. I've made an empire to protect the Digimon from people like you, from suffering my fate. I fight with compassion, just as we did before.

Ricky: The thing about compassion… is that it only works when you do it for others. It's all about helping those who really need help. That's why the Crest was given to me… because I needed it. It's given to you by how you're treated by your friends and family. You wouldn't know that because I didn't when I had you. [pauses] I'm sorry, Darkdramon. I really am.

Ricky holds on his hands, wanting to hug his partner. Darkdramon hesitates to respond to it, and he ponders because of how much he really missed him. He walks over slowly, and he stares at Ricky for a bit, then he whacks away to go fly back to the kids, who aid him.

Darkdramon: Too late! Twenty years too late! Gigastick Lance!

Instead of attacking his enemies, Darkdramon jabs his lance straight into the crystal, cracking and opening it. Then, the ground begins to shake violently as the crystal starts cracking, and Megidramon is freed from his prison, roaring. All of the Digimon rebels and humans recoil in fear at the sight of the evil beast.

Darkdramon: And for all I've been through, I shall have my revenge! Let the portal to the Human World be opened!

Death Tower fires a beam into the air and it opens a portal to the Human World, hovering over Parliament Hill, as Darkdramon laughs evilly.

Kari: He's going to destroy our homes!

Tai: Stay put, Kari. We'll deal with this. Matt, are you ready?

Matt: Yeah. It's time to digivolve.

With Tai and Matt's Digivices, Agumon and Gabumon both warp digivolve to their Mega-levels, and the DNA digivolve to Omnimon. Imperialdramon hovers in the air beside Omnimon, both ready to face the giant dragon.

Omnimon: Supreme Cannon!

Imperialdramon: Positron Laser!

But before they can fire, Megidramon unleashes a super loud roar that makes everyone on the battlefield cover their ears. He roars so long, the vibration causes an earthquake to split the land. Eragon rushes over to aid Guilmon, but his foot gets stuck in a sinkhole.

Darkdramon: Can you believe he never took a lesson?

As Marcus and Ricky both help Eragon free, the ground splits them apart from the DigiDestined.

Eragon: Guys!

Tai: We have to stop that roar!

Eragon looks at the roaring Megidramon, and he takes out the Crest of Compassion to stare at it in thought, and he gets an idea.

Eragon: We'll have to digivolve again, all the way to the Mega level. It's the only way to defeat them both.

Marcus: You can't. The Crest allowed you to Powerlink with Guilmon to the Ultimate level, but that's it. Now that you've been altered with Black Energy, the Crest will never unlock its full power to you.

In more thought, Eragon looks at his Digiband, knowing it carries Black Energy that flows in his veins, and he grows a determined look on his face. He rips off the Digiband and the Black Energy vapor sips out of his wrist.

Guilmon: [concerned] Eragon! How could you?!

Marcus: Without your Digiband, you'll die!

Eragon: I don't care. I must give up all I don't really need and step out to save the lives of everyone… in both worlds if it means… the end of me.

Eragon walks forward; as the vapor flows out of him, he begins to look weakened and he starts breathing heavily like he is about to die. But because of his will to help all who need help, the Crest of Compassion begins to glow and so does both hima and Guilmon.

Eragon: Guilmon… it's time. Biomerge… engage!

Guilmon: Guilmon, biomerge to…

With Eragon merging with him, Guilmon begins to warp digivolve all the way to his Mega level form: Gallantmon.

Gallantmon: Gallantmon!

Megidramon keeps his loud roar to disorient the Digimon, as he flies upward to the portal with Darkdramon on his head.

Darkdramon: We can be rulers of both worlds forever and ever! [laughing evilly]

Gallantmon: Darkdramon!

Flying in the air, Gallantmon dives in with his shield and knocks Megidramon on the head, forcing Darkdramon off and ceasing the roar. The Digimon are no longer disoriented, and the quaking stopped.

Gallantmon: Enough is enough!

Darkdramon: [gasps in shock] Eragon…. [furious] You should've DIED!

Darkdramon flies in to stab him, but Gallantmon parries it with his own lance and kicks him hard to the wall of Death Tower, affecting the stability of the portal. Megidramon growls at Gallantmon for what he did, and he's about to blast him with his fire breath, but Omnimon and Imperialdramon both fire their firearms to draw the dragon away before hovering towards Gallantmon.

Omnimon: Go stop Darkdramon. We'll take care of the dragon before it's too late.

Gallantmon: You have to keep his mouth shut.

Imperialdramon: We will. Good luck.

With the other two Mega-level Digimon facing Megidramon, Gallantmon looks back to find Darkdramon flying towards him. The both of them clash with each other, end up on the top of Death Tower, and engage in a fight with their lances like they are swords.

Gallantmon: Your years of negativity have poisoned your sense of reason. Only a heartless idiot would strike his own friend.

Darkdramon: He is no longer my friend or my partner! And you were supposed to wipe out your own family!

Gallantmon: Not if I want to seize to exist.

Gallantmon's shield disappears to give him a chance to punch Darkdramon in the face.

Gallantmon: Spiral Saber!

He spins upwards in a very short tornado within a fire tornado, and dives down to strike Darkdramon.

Meanwhile, Megidramon swings his tail around to strike the hovering Digimon, who keep avoiding his blow. Omnimon retracts his sword from his WarGreymon head and cuts the tail with it.

Imperialdramon: Splendor Blade!

Imperialdramon manifests a sword of light from his gauntlet and slashes down Megidramon's torso, but the evil Digimon dragon begins to heal. In retaliation, Megidramon fires a huge ball of flame from his mouth.

Omnimon: Transcendent Sword!

Omnimon deflects the fire ball with his sword back to Megidramon, hitting him on the face.

Omnimon: Double Shot!

Imperialdramon: Giga Crusher!

Omnimon annihilates the opponent with successive shots of fire and ice from the WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon heads. Then, Imperialdramon deploys a cannon from the dragon-face on his chest, then fires a gigantic blast of energy. And yet, Megidramon continues to regenerate.

Back on solid ground, the reunited humans gather together and watch the fight in the air.

Tai: What's going on?

TK: He keeps healing.

Clockmon: It's no use. All of your firepower can't stop him. Megidramon's Black Energy is too powerful, even for the likes of you.

Kari: Ricky, you defeated him before. Tell us… how do we destroy him?

Ricky: [pauses] He can't be destroyed. Megidramon feeds on the fear and anger of life all around him.

Cody: But how did you stop him?

Ricky: It was…. A lance. Darkdramon's lance. He stabbed him into his face, and Megidramon was defeated… for a while anyway. It's the only thing that can stop him, but he'll regain more Black Energy in his veins afterwards.

Joe hears it, he begins to have some thoughts, and he gets an idea.

Joe: If Black Energy is in his blood vessels, then…. The heart. Stab him in the heart, and he'll be no more.

Izzy: Joe, that just might work. Gallantmon's lance can stab it.

Sora: But he's too far away. He won't hear us.

Davis: [realizing] Oh yeah.

Back on Death Tower, Gallantmon and Darkdramon are still fighting. Gallantmon shines a bright light from his shield, temporarily blinding Darkdramon, and his feather floats to his left ear with Davis's voice speaking from it.

Davis's voice: Gallantmon. Stab Megidramon in the heart with your lance. It's the only way to defeat him completely.

Gallantmon: I understand.

Just when Darkdramon is about to emit another Dark Roar, Gallantmon clamps his mouth shut and restrains him under his arm. He shines another beam of light at Megidramon's eye, grabbing his attention, and it's enough to make him fly towards him.

Imperialdramon: Gallantmon, get out of the way!

But Gallantmon stays put to let him come to him. Darkdramon tries to free himself, but to no avail.

Darkdramon: Let me go! What are you doing?!

Gallantmon: Our fate. [pauses] Lightning… Joust!

Gallantmon throws Darkdramon down, jumps towards Megidramon and plunges into his heart. Darkdramon tries to get up and leave, but Megidramon is too close and he crashes onto him, collapsing Death Tower in the process. And then, the surviving members of the Metal Empire disintegrate because their master is no longer around and it is no more. Without Death Tower, the endless cloudy sky fades into a bright, sunny sky, and sunlight shines everywhere.

Part 19

The battle is over, and the rebels roar in cheer because they are the victors of the war. But the DigiDestined aren't cheering because of their friend back there, so they rush over to go find him. Omnimon and Imperialdramon land at the rubble and begin digging as the humans come over. Then, Eragon digs himself out of the rubble.

Kari: Eragon!

As all the partnered Digimon revert to Fresh/Rookie levels, Kari helps Eragon out and hugs him.

Davis: You did it! You saved us all!

Tai: Great work out there.

Matt: Eragon…? [pauses] I think I owe you an apology… for being suspicious about you.

Eragon: Don't worry. Your little brother was like that.

Salamon: Hey, where's Guilmon?

Salamon grabs their attention, and they all look around. But when Eragon notices he's no longer dying and his wound is gone, he finds out why Guilmon is absent.

Eragon: He's gone. Without my Digiband, the Black Energy inside me is no more, and… he knew I was dying. He… gave his life to save mine.

Yolei: No. Not Guilmon.

Eragon falls to his knees, shedding tears for the loss of his friend. The Digimon in the background all look at the DigiDestined from afar, and they know who's missing.

Octomon: [to Mermaimon] Your majesty… they lost one. The red, overeating dinosaur.

Ricky comes over, knowing Darkdramon is also deceased, and he sits beside Eragon.

Ricky: We both know this feeling, my boy. Today, we've lost both of our partners… by our own intuition.

Davis: Don't say that, Uncle. The best thing about Digimon is… they never really die.

Marcus: He's right. Guilmon… will always come back to you.

Eragon sniffles, but he realizes they're both true, so he's no longer upset. But then, a beam of light shines from the sky, then the Harmonious Ones emerge to ascend downward, and land around the DigiDestined. The marvelled Digimon are all stunned to see them, and they bow before them.

Baihumon: You have all fought well.

Azulongmon: Because of you destroying Death Tower, the endless fog no longer covers the Shadow Continent.

Zhuqiaomon: It all takes tremendous power within yourselves.

Ebonwumon: And now, the entire place will be opened to any Digimon living here to be chosen.

Tai: Then it's over. Now the evil in the Digital World can never harm anyone again.

Marcus: But… my brother and I cannot stay here. That's why we'd need to go back to our time.

Clockmon: But look.

Clockmon comes over and points to the portal that remains opened, but it begins to slowly fade.

Clockmon: Without Death Tower, the portal's closing.

Then, the Harmonious Ones use their Digi-Cores to circle around the portal, allowing it to remain open. With that, Clockmon uses his own powers to reverse time and space to the spot where Eragon and Marcus were abducted from the beginning.

Clockmon: I've given it most of my powers. I'm nearly depleted, but I have enough to change you back to your younger selves, back to before you have the Digibands.

Clockmon manifests powder from his hands, and it swirls around Eragon and Marcus, turning them back to 10/8 years of age. Marcu's Digiband detaches itself from his wrist, and the Black Energy inside him is no more. And then, he takes the other Digiband off of Davis's wrist.

Marcus: It was low anyway. You'll be fine.

Azulongmon: It is time to go. We cannot hold the portal for much longer.

Eragon and Marcus are both walking to the light of the portal where it will take them home, but Davis stops him when he grabs Eragon's hand.

Davis: Wait a minute. What if we can't get used to moving on without you? I… was starting to think we could have a seventh member of the team.

Eragon: I understand what you mean, but like Marcus said, we don't belong in this time period. It's up there we need to be.

Kari: Davis, we have to let them go. You see, we'd be worried if they stay here.

Eragon: There's more. Back then, when we were on the march, I did say that you're all like a family to me. You two, Cody, Yolei and TK. I can see why because… you really are. Even…. Even Guilmon knew it. And besides, I had my chance to spend time with my father. But I want to say… thank you… dad.

Eragon shed tears again, and he hugs Davis. Kari and Marcus come over, having a family group with them both. The portal's light begins to shine brighter on the soon-to-be family. The boys are then hovered up towards the portal and are about to leave through it.

Marcus: Bye, mother!

Kari: Bye-bye, boys! Don't forget about us!

They leave the scene and through the portal. With that done, the Digi-Cores no longer keep it open, the portal closes for good and the two brothers are back to their time. Already missing Eragon, Yolei begins to ball, but Ken comforts her.

Ken: Aw, take it easy, Yolei. We'll see them again, alright?

Yolei: [sniffles] Yes.

Davis: All this time, Eragon was our kid?

Ricky: It's funny…. The boys won't remember any of this.

Kari: No. They will… at all times.

Narrator: And now, the Shadow Continent was no longer hidden from the Digital World and the evil that's been lurking there was gone forever.

Epilogue

Twenty-five years later, TK, also the narrator, is now an adult and he is writing a novel entitled "Digimon Journey of the Crest" on his laptop.

TK: [writing] Eventually, Eragon and Marcus were able to return home to the spot where they were abducted a while ago. Eragon had his chance to reconcile with his father and they both started selling food together… like a family, with the feeling inside of Eragon like he always wanted.

Then, his son comes into his office to grab his attention.

TK's son: Dad. It's almost time, let's go.

TK: I'm coming.

Later, the older DigiDestined come back with their children to the Shadow Continent, where it is now a family resort for humans and Digimon together since now that both worlds have begun coexisting. Maro Village is now a tourist attraction with bigger areas because the walls have extended, musicians are playing their instruments, and Yolei is handing out treats on a tray to the Digimon. Her two kids are helping her, and her infant is strapped to her chest, then she sees somebody coming and she rushes over to find someone.

Impmon is having a phone call in the throne room and he looks like he's dressed in a suit.

Impmon: What, no. Octomon, you're missing the point. I'm telling you, I should build a roller coaster in the water for the theme park. I don't care if you are an underwater real estate! I say we should do that because it sounds awesome!

Then Yolei comes over to him, grabbing Impmon's attention.

Yolei: Where's Cody and Ken? They're here.

Impmon: Anyway, I'll get back to you later, and if I hear another debate, I'll shove my Budda Boom into you. Yeah, bye. [hangs up] They're in the back. Go on ahead.

Yolei rushes over to the back, where they find the adult Ken and Cody chattering with each other.

Yolei: Ken, they made it.

At the front gate, TK walks in with his son. But behind him is Davis and Kari, having Eragon and Marcus following them, with their own Digimon partners in their arms. Eragon has a DemiVeemon and Marcus has a Salamon. As soon as they are in, the other three come over.

Cody: Good. We're here.

Marcus: Here for what?

Kari: Let me tell you something, Marcus. This isn't just only when we became Generals, it's where we were all united and your brother started to become closer to us.

Davis: [to Eragon] You remember that, don't you?

Eragon: Yeah, dad. Good-

DemiVeemon: Eragon? I'm hungry.

Then, he sees a bread stand nearby, and he jumps off to devour it all. Eragon is about to stop him, but then his partner begins to glow, digivolving, and he becomes… Guilmon.

Eragon: [tearfully] Guilmon!

He rushes over and hugs his partner who was dead so long ago, and he hugs back.

Eragon: Do you… remember?

Guilmon: Yes. I… saved you from Megidramon… and the Black Energy. I'm sorry.

Eragon: No. You did the right thing. And now… the team's back together again.

Narrator: It was twenty-five years when we lost Guilmon, but to Eragon, it was only a month. Over time, we had many adventures together, but we can never forget the times we once had since the first day… we arrived at the Digital World.
