Chapter 26 - A New Kind of Perfection

The distant wail of sirens and traffic caught in the wind high above an unnamed city, to the dismissive eye, nothing was out of the ordinary, no one would notice and those that did may have seen it as nothing more than the trick of the light. Stood atop one of the skyscrapers overlooking the city critically was a cloaked figure, the cowl pulled over their face, only ever revealing their crocodile grin, a large row of teeth like a cartoon in how perfectly triangular they were.

His sharp finger scrolled down the latest report involving the news unknown villain, Kovik, and the UA student that, alongside heroes put a stop to his attack on Hosu. One the tab below was an article connecting the attack to another in a city not far from Hosu where an infamous and controversial vigilante named 'Viral' had done battle with another unknown villain, Harbinger.

This report stated that despite the presence of heroes, the vigilante fought to protect all the innocent civilians and nearly sacrificed himself for two UA students in the process, the report made him chuckle at that fact one of the reports was from the Eraser Hero, Eraserhead who was also on the scene.

"Aww, he does like me, I'm touched," He mused, putting his phone away to overlook the city in the morning light. "So Harbinger, Stain, Kovik, and the League all played big moves - Things are in motion, whoever is pulling the strings is very cunning."

From within a tear in the hood, a single, magenta eye without an iris, pupil, or any desirable traits other than a solid color, narrow with a crackle. "This is gonna be a fun week."

"Hey, Bakugo, spill, you were there right!?" Kirishima interrogated his friend staring out the window with disinterest, only to glare back at him and Sero

"Huh!?" He needed specifics but anyone could tell what they were after, same for Longears too

"The villain attack in Kamino Ward, with that creepy guy with the horns, we heard you and Jiro were there," Sero explained, and while Bakugo could care less he did see the reports and how much they left out, they failed to so much as mention that the villain wasn't just some would-be attacker, Bakugo knew it, he wasn't an idiot

"And so what?" He growled but Kirishima smirked

"We heard you got... pfft, backhanded by the guy through a window." He soon broke into a fit of laughter with Sero, causing multiple red markings to bulge atop the blonde's head

"IT'S A GODDAMN LIE!" His thunderous refusal only made them laugh harder as Jiro sat back on her chair, twirling one of her jacks

"Nope, you did, and it was pretty funny," Her smug smile drew the glare of death her way but she didn't flinch while the boys nearly toppled over.

"You both got to fight actual villains, I'm super jealous!" Mina squealed but again, Jiro just kept her cool unlike her reluctant partner that night

"If I'm honest we didn't do much even outside that fight, I just ran support and scouted out places I never actually fought anyone, I mean, I guess I did save a few people that night." She neglected a few minor details but to her, it wasn't needed, she did her job and wasn't looking for more praise than what she got

"But it sounds like so much fun..." Mina leaned on Asui's desk with a disgruntled sigh, though they heard Bakugo scoff.

"Sure it was, but that guy's pretty tough." This drew the laughter back in, a few seeing the unnerved look in the aloof girl's eyes as she wandered back to that fight, and how close it had become, running a finger across the thin scar on her left cheek. "If I'm honest, without Viral I doubt even the Pros could have beaten him." Without realizing it her hand had snuck around the necklace she wore

Bakugo just huffed and turned his attention back to the outside world. Then Asui decided to pipe up, tapping her chin. "I basically spent the whole time training and cleaning the ship, though there was this one day we caught a bunch of drug smugglers, though compared to what you and Bakugo went through it's pretty minor." That brought the two girls to a solid stance

"Okay, that's cool." Both gawked

"What about you Ochaco, how was your week?" Asui asked as the trio turned to find... something. A ghostly mist left her body while her aura rose with a dark purple glow, her spirit awakened from within as she threw a few practice punches

"I'd say it was very enlightening." She had ascended into a new pool of power within a week

"I think she found her fighting spirit," Asui observed with Jiro nodding

"Yeah, that Battle Hero must have been somethin' else."

The conversations all quickly led to the main topic of the class. Izuku, Shoto, and Iida were given condolences for their safe return as they had to keep it quiet about the fact that it was them and not Endeavor that took down the tenacious Hero Killer, a memory the three would share forever.

Sadly, Kaminari said the last thing anyone wanted to admit, calling the Killer 'cool', but from Izuku's experience, the villain was anything but the sort. Driven and committed sure, but staring down his convictions head-on was overwhelming, almost sickening at how much fight the Killer still had before his untimely demise. "I have to admit, that other guy was pretty cool lookin'."

"Kaminari!" Izuku gasped while an earjack whacked the back of his head, Jiro glaring daggers at him

"Want to rephrase that?" She heard what happened to Yuki, she was there and was still in hospital for it

He realized it a moment later and clamped his mouth. "G-guys, sorry, I-I didn't mean it-!"

"No, it's alright," Iida spoke up earnestly, gazing down at his bandaged arm. "It is true that he is quite the tenacious villain, I can understand why some people think he or Kovik are cool, they have that strange appeal I suppose," Iida continued. "But instead of helping the world, their beliefs led to cold-blooded murder. No matter their motives, killing cannot be condoned."

"And Yuki, what she went through then was more than any of us had realized," Todoroki added himself, remembering her growing distractions and absence for a number of times, only now he realized it was to hide her seizures. "Kovik was a monster, no other light could be shed on him."

"To keep anyone from suffering like her or me," Iida spun around, arm outstretched to address the class with a level of authority. "I promise, I will strive to be the perfect hero!"

"Yeah, let's do it!" Izuku felt the same way, not just for his friends but for the girl who protected him. His my always did a loop back to that confession that night, keeping his heart beating happily

Soon, Iida went right back into his usual M.O. Earning a disgruntled sigh from Jiro as she continued to glare at Kaminari, though her phone went off, signaling her to the door with a knowing smirk. "Well, someone's a little late." That drew some attentive ears

From the main doorway into the class, a new figure stepped inside, a bright smile on their face while they slung their bag over one shoulder, adjusting the piece on the right side of their head, the thin ponytail bobbing between their shoulder blades, eyes facing the class with a radiant glow present. They also wore a black choker necklace.

Many lost their jaws in the moment, a few of the boys feeling some heat rise to their faces while Mina gasped sharply with Hagakure, her sleeves rising to indicate she was gushing too. Bakuogo's brow rose with his typical, irked expression, Jiro smiled with her arms crossed, Shoto didn't make it obvious but he was surprised as well as Iida, and Izuku blushed with a warm smile crossing his lips.

Yuki for her own part was a flutter of emotions. She had moved her mask to rest against the side of her head now, no longer obscuring her face from the world, it was a little nerve-wracking for the mute as she had no definitive way of telling what their reactions would be or if she would be ultimately comfortable with the change.

Her life was on a new path again, no longer tied down by the thought of her body turning to dust, her mind scattered like dead coding. And she had confessed to the dorky green-haired boy she called her best friend, though their relationship was a secret, they knew no one would notice given her unwavered, tactile nature. Overall, it was a new beginning, uncertain, but new.

"NO WAY, YUKI!?" Their abrupt gawking caused the girl to blink with an uncertain frown for a moment before scratching the long scar on her face now back to its original, faded touch, smiling warily.

'Hey guys, how'd all your internships go?' This note was dashed away as they surrounded her

"You took your mask off!" Kirishima blurted out with wide eyes

"You never take it off!" Sero added

"So cute~!" Hagakure gushed

"I like your new look, it really suits you!" Ocha added with an easy smile

"Super duper cute!" Mina slapped her own face pulling down. "You look like how I imagined it with your hair!"

"You really thought that far ahead...?" Kaminari grimaced with Jiro huffing humorously, waving a jack before him

"Like you hadn't thought of what she looked like under that mask, Jamming-Yay."

"Grah, lay off already, Jiro!" He roared in her unimpressed face

Yuki had a feeling this would be the case, she didn't tell anyone she'd be back so soon but her results were all good. After everything she wore the mask because she felt naked without it and she didn't want people to see her face, to hide away her emotional states easily. Lately, she felt comfortable with it off, she kept it close but now that she wasn't on some timer she felt relief like she was given another chance to live how she sees fit.

With a mute giggle, she ran a hand over her hair, holding out a note. 'I'm glad my new look is to your liking' That earned a chorus of answers, adding to her bashful expression before she moved through the crowd to face the trio of friends that understood her secret alongside Jiro, all of them with relaxed expressions though Izuku was still frozen in place.

Taking a step toward them she lifted a smile, holding out her fist and a note. 'I know you don't need to hear it, I mean, I was there but I'm glad you're all okay and thank you for being my friends' She did give a sly wink to Izuku, causing him to blush deeper, even with a wavy smile and his fist out to connect with hers, exciting her heart a little more

"O-of course!" He bumped it next to two more fists

"Same to you," Shoto replied evenly

"And thank you, Yuki," Iida added with the utmost respect

However, sat by the window Bakugo continued to leer her way, remembering a few choice words from his internship he had, unbeknownst to him, taken to deep consideration, 'You can become a hero that wins, your pride gives people the courage to stand and prove themselves as more than who they believe they are, to become stronger in their own way'. All because of that damn Mute's mother.

'Hello, Dumb-Dumb, caught up in my charm I see?' The note flapped in front of his eyes shattered his thought, his hand igniting the page between her fingers, the cocky glare in her eyes and wide, smug grin causing his brow to twitch

"Get lost you damn mute, go smother that worthless Deku," He snapped, but she didn't move, hopping up onto his desk to lean down at him with a grin, causing his eyes to flare. "I said get lost or I'll blast you through the wall!"

'Thanks, for protecting Kyoka' Was the note shared between them, causing his scowl to freeze momentarily, seeing the forbearing smile rest across her face. 'I know we don't get along, I'm not here to try and mend some kind of bridge, just, thank you, Bakugo' A few were surprised, she almost never used his name, even he didn't expect that

She stepped off his desk, leaving the note to return to the conversations at hand like nothing happened. Bakugo stared down at the note, rereading the lines fixed with a leer. Then he breathed sharply out his nose.

Sometime later in the day, the group stood before a new training ground with non-other than All Might. Yuki kept her mask to the side of her costume which, much like her refreshing look, had also gone under improvements now no longer limited by SIVA's need to consume her, which was a comforting and unlimited thought process that took hours to replicate appropriately.

I like this style | A good combination of our traits | You look just like a proud Kell

"Keep up that sweet talk and Izuku might think I'm cheating," Yuki smiled as a few took in her new look with just as much gawking as before, she didn't mind, seeing her outside her mask caught everyone off guard, combined that with her look you'd say she was an entirely different person, she would believe it to be true. "The Enhanced Hero MrK. II!"

She wore her same twin-tail red scarf with a SIVA symbol on the clip. From the neck down she wore a skin-tight black nano-tubing material. Two i-symmetrical pauldrons with reinforced black-metal barding on her biceps and forearms, a red outline on the armor, her gloves bearing red knuckles with lines down the middle of her fingers.

Her breastplate also bore i-symmetrical upgrades to the chest but not so much that it made her bulky with black diamond shapes split with a red line in the center of each piece. A utility belt for her dormant SIVA clusters, following the same red accent design. Her legs mimicked her arms, protecting her thighs and shins with sharp boots tipped crimson alongside the heel.

"You and SIVA really went all out today, huh?" Jiro remarked with a whistle as Yuki did a twirl, then her eyes locked to Jiro's boots, that alone brought the aloof girl to smile gently. "O-oh right, yeah, i-it was Akio who helped with s-some modifications," She slapped a hand over her stammering mouth the moment Yuki raised a brow, leaning closer. "S-shut up!"

'How can I shut up when I can't even talk?' Yuki's note was then crumpled up and toss away only for it to reform in her fingers with a deadpan expression. 'Really? You're lucky these things can dissolve safely on their own'

The upgrades to Jiro's equipment were some sonic amplifiers on the soles of her boots, providing her was more maneuverability and combat potential. Much as she didn't want to say it she did trust Yuki who entrusted her with the secret involving SIVA so with a slight blush she leaned in. "Look, keep it on the down-low, for now, I'll tell ya about it later." She regretted this since Yuki's smile grew even wider. "Oh God, what have I done?" She ran a hand over her face

"I am here!" As always, All Might gauged everyone's eyes and ears with a wave, drawing the conversations to silence. "Hope you are ready to return to our lessons! Today it's hero basic training!"

"Feels like I haven't seen you in a while, welcome back!" He put his hands on his hips. "Now, listen carefully for what's in-store, we're going to be conducting a little race. Apply everything you learned from your internships here and now."

"If it's rescue training shouldn't we be at the USJ instead!?" Iida was quick to the questions as always, Yuki was happy to see that he was back up and running, she can imagine the guilt he felt that night, thankfully Shoto and Izuku reached out to him before the worst occurred

It was not long ago we faced down one of my most loyal | He will not shackle himself to the past | So we must do the same

"Yeah," Yuki peered at her right hand. "Even with our power we just barely took him down, and that was a proxy, bet the real deal is much stronger." She was prepared for this, mentally that is, but if she wanted to prevail she needed to master her power just like Izuku, to control all of SIVA without losing control

"-So, prepare! You're about to step into Field Gamma!" All Might declared to the metal labyrinth ahead, something Yuki's confident soared at the sight of. "Inside is an area full of factories that form an intricate labyrinth, so good luck finding your way around. You'll be competing in groups of five,"

"Everyone will start a different locations across the city, I'll send a signal and you must do whatever it takes to rescue me, whoever finds me first wins!" Then he slowly brought his finger down in a clock-like fashion. "Please try to keep the property damage to a bare minimum please."

His finger and all eyes were on Bakugo to no one's surprise. The blonde grumbled and looked away. "Why are you pointing at me?"

"Alright, first group get to your places!" All Might declared and those that sat the first round out took a spot by the monitors to observe and bet on their lucky racer. Sitting down with Yao-momo and Jiro, Yuki eyed the image of Izuku getting limbered up

"I think Midoriya's at a disadvantage here, given his rather copy-cat movements from Bakugo." Her point drew the blue-haired girl's attention, Jiro sitting back with a hand to prop her up

"I dunno, Midoriya's style isn't quite rooted, he's always kinda gone with the flow, you know?" Jiro argued given the nervous teen's ability to analyze a situation and create a countermeasure in seconds, even without a Quirk he'd probably be quite the tactician. "What about you, Yuyu, anything to add about your boyfriend?" The slight jab made her brow raise with a smirk, though it took a bit of effort to hold a poker face

'Amusing as always - To answer... just watch' She never saw the fight herself when she was lost in her own head but Izuku did tell her about how he went over his limits again, and something told her that he had something planned with that slight overuse and experience from Torino-Sensei. "Kick their butts, Zuzu!"

"Is everyone ready!? Begin!" All Might let off the horn and the race took off with rapid success

Sero swept across the maze from above, using his tape like a rope to propel himself across the field with ease. For Mina she either slid on her feet with acid, latching onto walls by melting holes in the surfaces and for Ojiro his powerful tail more than compensated for his lack of mobility, using it as a swing over pipelines. Iida was already in hot pursuit of first place given his more refined usage of his Quirk for long strides.

"It's like this course was built for me in mind!" Sero grinned, launching another line of tape if not for the strong gust of wind to nearly blowing him off course entirely. The emerald blur having past him and all in seconds. "W-What!? No way!?"

"With my new training, I can win!" Izuku's grin was only matched by his kick into a higher gear, going from five percent to eight percent to adjust his velocity. "If I can keep manually adjusting mid-jump I can account for the trajectory and the speed in which I plan to land on uneven surfaces while not losing the momentum I've gained."

"Watching how Yuki fought Kovik I understand how to gauge my attacks, think of each jump-" He rolled onto a rooftop, propelling himself up and over a ten-meter gap, once more, the energy fluctuated. "-As a new instance!" His feet bent sideways, sliding across a curve pipeline like a surfboard, his speed only increasing as he kept his arms tucked in but evenly spaced to maximize his balance. "Let gravity do the rest while I focus on adjusting both my body and my power output like a lightbulb connected to a dial, increase and decrease where it's needed."

Yuki almost toppled over in her hospital bed laughing. 'Really? A lightbulb this time? What's with you and household appliances for references?'

Izuku frowned bluntly at her. "It's better than breaking bones - A-anyway, I realized it when you were fighting, you don't just rely on the percentage you start with, like with our fight in the Festival, you adjusted your strength where you could to compensate for either offensive or defensive moves, obviously with a limit given your injuries."

Her expression warped to a smug but keen smile. 'I wondered when you'd catch on-' He blinked with surprise at her honest answer, seeing her shrug. 'It isn't always easy mid-fight but if you want a good place to start and test adjusting from one to ten percent then try moving around, it's safer than outright combat until it becomes second nature'

Izuku kept up his pace, a few odd stumbles, and trips that he quickly adjusted by propelling himself off the walls, it was a challenge but he was starting to get into the groove, so much so he almost got taken out by Sero, the two landing before All Might, though Izuku did faceplate the ground after being caught off guard.

"And it's over! Thanks, hero, and congratulations!" All Might held out a sash with the words 'Thanks for saving me' on it. Of course, Izuku couldn't exactly accept the victory as he slowly pulled his face from the ground, Sero and Iida helping him up while Mina let out an anguished cry of defeat. "Man, what a bad landing too, gotta keep up appearances!"

"Midoriya, are you okay?" Iida asked while Sero grinned nervously

"The way you moved was crazy, I know you had control and all but that was a whole 'nother level!"

"I see... I got so wrapped up in keeping the adjustments fluent my perception was cut in half, I didn't even hear or see Sero swoop in," He rubbed his face, wincing at the stinging sensation. "I got to remember that."

The next lineup was as followed. Jiro, Tokoyami, Shoji, Kirishima, and Yuki. Everyone was in position awaiting the 'go-ahead' from All Might. Yuki gave herself a quick stretch, ensuring her new armor was optimized for the course. She slipped the mask back over her face, the HUD spurring to life, analyzing her systems and bodily functions with far more seamless uptime.

With my new level of independence | My processing speed is even greater than I realized | Very interesting, this should be fun

"Ready, heroes!? GOOO!" The horn blared and bolts of crimson danced in her eyes, turning them scarlet as the motes were whisked away by her sudden vault over a silo

SIVA | Enhance | Twenty Percent

"Still keeping that old habit, eh?" Yuki didn't expect a reply as her body plummeted toward the ground, her hands gathered clusters together while her heart soared. "Time to try out this new upgrade! SIVA augment, Winter's Rush!"

The clusters gathered to the backs of her arms and legs, creating narrow, triangular funnels that produced a stream of red energy from within, increasing her movement speed with a swarm of nanomachines gathered under her feet, warping the obstacles for her feet to skate up, over, and around their frames, bending the surfaces to better suit her propulsion.

"With our new directive, there's no limit to our enhancements!" Yuki smiled under her mask, doing an elegant backflip through the air, scattering a number of nanomachines as she spotted All Might from afar, watching her

To the opposite of the field, Jiro was dashing along a catwalk, her earjacks plugged into her boots for another sonic blast to lob her up and over a line of scaffolding, tuck-and-rolling onto the roof with a clear path to All Might. She couldn't refrain from smirking confidently. "I owe ya one, Akio, Viral, now- ah!" She propelled herself from her tumble, landing on another pipe as it acted like a slide for her. "Even I have an edge!"

Observing the race, a number we shocked by the two surprising improvements by the girls, both taking the lead in their own ways. Yao-momo was the first to speak up. "Their techniques have improved exponentially, most surprising is Jiro." Shoto stood above her, his arms crossed

"The way SIVA is adjusting, it seems overriding that corrupt command gave them better liberty of control." "She's reconstructing where her body lands to minimize her loss of velocity, those thrusters help to keep that control." His eyes were locked to the augments, chuffing once at her vast improvement since Hosu

"Jiro's on a whole 'nother level than before, now she's jumping about like Bakugo and Midoriya, no fair!" Kaminari scoffed as the two were neck-and-neck

"Wow, Deku, you guys are killing it today!" Ocha praised her friend, then she and Asui realized he was headlong into one of his deep, overcomplicated murmurs

"Looks like he's lost again." Asui hummed with a few collective 'yeahs'. The energy in the air was enough to snap him out of his stupor, running a hand through his hair nervously sweating bullets

"S-Sorry, I'm just as surprised as you guys!" He grinned, looking to the screen as he helplessly felt his eyes lock to Yuki, the bright eyes and flashy movements, and if he was being completely honest her new costume defined her figure alot more than the old one, each curve and twist captured perfectly before he realized what he was doing and quickly covered his eyes. "Why am I thinking like that!?"

"Winner! Thank you, hero!" All Might praised Yuki who did a small hop with her fist high. Jiro landing a second later with a pant, wiping the sweat off her brow

"Damn, almost had you too," Behind her, Dark Shadow hopped up, dropping Tokoyami off as well with Kirishima clawing his way up the side of the building, flopping to the ground to breathe heavily, Shoji doing the same a second after. "Man, we were all pretty close."

"You kiddin', you guys were insane!" Kirishima held up a thumb. "Good... work though, guys!"

"Young Kirishima is correct, while Yuki won the race closely followed by Young Jiro, all of you have improved drastically since the start of the school year, make no mistake of that," All Might held out a thumb. "Good work, now head back to the monitors for the next round!"

"Yes, Sir!" 'Aye, Sir'

Yuki, however, felt a hand hold her back as she sent a few nanites to mess with the cameras facing them. She gave a curious look to her teacher as he soon faced her. "I heard what happened in Hosu, of your struggles and... close encounter, I am sorry I wasn't there for you."

Yuki shook her head, understanding All Might was bound to feel guilty after promising to look out for her and Izuku. 'Nothing can ever be predicted, you trained me to harness and control SIVA if you hadn't I might not be here' She flipped the note, twisting her mask to show her gracious smile. 'You're the best hero and teacher I could have ever hoped for, don't forget that, dummy'

His smile remained, standing tall with a chuckle and his hand on her head, ruffling her hair. "You could never stay mad at anyone, even if I don't deserve your praise. I stand to uphold my promise to you and young Midoriya, I will tell him the truth of One For All."

Yuki was taken back by that, she knew he'd tell him once either All Might felt ready or he knew Izuku could handle the weight of the truth. Yuki knew already so her being there might end up putting a damper on what is clearly a chat between teacher and successor, that was fine with her, she didn't have to push herself into their lives all the time. There is always a fine line between being a partner and being a crutch.

'Good luck then, but tell him everything' To make her point more indicative she jabbed her sharp finger against his chest, standing on her toes to reach with narrowed eyes and a snort. She saw the sweat drop down his face

"So scary!" "You have my word, haha, now run along we have a class to continue!" With that, the cameras were back and the two parted ways unaware of a third party leaving the area.

To Be Continued...

Oh damn, someone has overheard their chat, this might be bad news for the three withholding the biggest secret in Japan, perhaps the world! FYI, to get a better visual of Yuki's new armor, lookup 'Destiny SIVA Armor Female'. Just minus the cloak and mask.

So here's the first change that is kinda obvious, since Izuku already had Full Cowling since the Festival it makes sense that he'd atleast come in first place, it also means Bakugo doesn't get butt-hurt since, A, this new level of movement was already established, and B, he wasn't at Best Jeanist getting useless berating of his attitude but rather Valstrax's agency.

Anywho, hope you enjoyed, appreciate the support, and seeya in the next chapter, Plus Ultra!
