FRIDAY

The week seemed to fly by for Tommy, though that's in partial to Tina livening up the work environment with her upbeat personality. And of course him and Candace seemed to click very well, with every possible chance they would engage in light conversation.

It turns out they have a LOT in common, they both liked the same food, music, and almost the same hobby interests as well. Funny enough they were both born in Oklahoma on top of it all. Unsurprisingly however when Tommy brought up boxing, she knew nothing in that area.

"Why, are you a boxer?" She asked him

"I've...dabbled in it" he decided to lie for some reason

"Hm, well that was kinda cryptic" she said sending him a smile

"Well yes i'm a boxer just..not a good one, I guess" He continued

"Ohhhh I see now, ain't nothing to be embarrassed about. The fact you're willing to get in a ring at ALL makes you brave as hell in my eyes" She said giving him a playful light punch in the stomach

"Yeah, well I know plenty of people who would call it stupidity" he retorted jokingly

"Hey, i'm sure a big boy like you needs to eat too, nothing wrong with doing what you gotta do darling" she said said with a wink, causing Tommy to chuckle

"Yeahhh.." He said still chuckling "I do get hungry" He said with a dumb tone, making her now chuckle with him

Diane suddenly walked into the back of the kitchen where they were both standing

"Hey Diane!" Candace greeted while going in for a hug, which Diane accepted "We haven't seen you all week, where you been?" Candace continued ending the embrace

"Well,I figured you guys could run the diner without me for one week. I definitely needed a break" Diane said as she handed each of them an envelope "Anyways it's payday so here's your checks" She said looking at Tommy specifically

"Oh, ok thank you Miss" Tommy said, accepting the envelope

"You're welcome, everyone is telling me you work good so I think i'll hold on to ya" She finished, giving him a thumbs up as she walked away

"Well that's good, i'm glad you're staying" Candace piped up with a smile

"What, no faith?" He joked

"Nooo...I..I think there was a little faith in there somewhere" She replied teasingly

"Oh man, for real? Wooww" Tommy said with mock disappointment

She nudged his arm with a laugh, Tommy realized that was probably his favorite thing, her laugh. It was like sunshine on a rainy day, it was music to him. Just seeing her happy made him happy, he knew for sure that he liked this girl a lot, the question is however did she like him back. She definitely looked at him a lot and when he would catch her she would smile at him, and when they talked it always seemed like they could carry on forever.

"Hey, Madison needs your guys' help out there" Terrance interrupted them

"Gotcha" Tommy said before giving Candace a quick nod "Well, better get back to it" He said as he walked into the dining room

CLOSING TIME

Everyone gave their goodbyes and went their separate ways home, and for once this whole week Johnson was on time to pick up Candace. Doing his usual peel out, but this time Tommy manged to stay out of the way.

Tommy made his way to his house, taking the usual route through the back alleys. Tommy learned that he could save five minutes off of his walk doing this, he turned down the third and final alley before landing on his street, until a shadowy figure at the end stopped him in his tracks. The figure slowly made it's way towards Tommy and looked to be holding some sort of pipe.

"Hey! listen man don't come near me alright" Tommy said, the shadowy figure however kept walking, Tommy suddenly notice two more shadows emerge behind the first though they looked empty handed hopefully.

Finally the shadows stepped into to the slim bit of moonlight creeping into the alley, allowing Tommy a decent look at them. The two men in back were of decent build and both empty handed, to Tommys relief.

The one in front was a bit shorter however, maybe like 5'7-5'6 and was in fact wielding a 3" aluminum water pipe of some kind, Tommy noticed that they all wore ski masks as well

"What do you need?" Tommy asked unafraid

"Wellll, we know usually Fridays are paydays so we're gonna need whatever you made today" The short one spoke in a higher, gravel like voice reaching out a wanting hand

"Can't help you there bud" Tommy said holding up the envelope "I got a paycheck with my name on it unfortunately" Tommy said with a smirk

"I'm sure you got something in that wallet for us" The short one said aiming the pipe at Tommy

"I dare you to try" Were Tommys last words before the three men approached him

Tommy dodged a swing from the pipe before shoving the short one down to the ground and set his sights on the bigger guys. They both bombarded him with numerous haymakers but none of them connected as he dodged them skillfully. Then proceeded to counter them with left and right combinations sending them both unconscious to the ground.

Tommy turned around to confront the short one again only to be met with a pipe in his chest. He stepped back to catch his breath really quick before blocking another swing of the pipe with his forearms sending painful vibrations through his body.

Tommys mind began to cloud with white hot rage as he dodged another swing and countered with a crisp jab, sending the short man to the floor. The man squirmed on the ground for a couple of seconds before slowly reaching for his pipe again.

"Come on! get up!" Tommy shouted while bouncing on his toes in his boxer stance "Come on let's go!" Tommy shouted again as the short man struggled to stand, he wobbled around clearly dazed before finally attempting another weak swing at Tommy. Tommy merely slapped the pipe away and out of the mans hand before delivering a thunderous left hook to the side of the mans face, bouncing his head off the brick wall next to him and onto the ground.

Tommy spit on the unconscious man in anger before quickly making his way to his apartment.
