and whoever else left a review that didn't show up on my review page. I noticed that my review count was higher than the reviews I could physically see, so I think there might be some sort of glitch in the system?
'His arm…I need to aim for the jewel shard in his arm.' My gaze narrows, just barely seeing the glow from the fragment of the Sacred Jewel in his human upper arm. I summon my energy to create a bow and arrow with my aura. 'If I can take his arm clean off, he'll no longer be able to use Tessaiga.' I let my arrow fly, stomach sinking as he dodges it with narrowed eyes trained on me. In one smooth motion he barely lands before jumping towards me. Inuyasha's eyes grow large with panic, before he jumps to quickly follow him.
'I barely have any energy left.' I think, frozen on the spot. 'I can't run from him, I can't block him…'
"Leave her out of this! It's me you want!" Inuyasha shouts, using his Blades Of Blood attack to dissuade Sesshomaru. It works, Sesshomaru shifting to the side and Inuyasha landing in front of me, hunched over protectively.
"Most amusing." Sesshomaru smirk as he lands. "You seem so anxious for her safety." He comments mockingly, and I feel my anger flare.
"There is a shard of the Sacred Jewel in his left arm, just above his elbow." I tell Inuyasha, desperately wishing I had my real bow and arrows right now. I could use them, even with what little energy I had left. "If I had my bow and arrows I'm sure I could blast his arm off." Inuyasha glances at me from over his shoulder, shaking his head firmly.
"Sesshomaru has never been the kind of opponent that has been easy to strike down." He argues, frowning deeply. "Besides, even I can sense you're running on fumes."
"Yua!" Shippo calls as he bounds up to us, and I look down at him, relief flooding through me as I see my bow and arrows in his little arms. Reaching down I take the bow from him first, before grabbing my quiver and attacking it to my belt.
"Thank you." I run my fingers through his hair gratefully. "Now go and stay with Miroku, he'll protect you." Shippo frowns, hesitating as he nervously glances past Inuyasha towards Sesshomaru. "Go on." I urge, and he finally nods, bounding back to the monk.
"You should go too, the monk looks like he can barely stand after using his Wind Tunnel like he had." Inuyasha glances in worry towards Miroku as Shippo bounds up to him. I frown, looking over towards the monk and realizing for the first time that he did look a little dazed…and exhausted. "You're their only protection if Sesshomaru manages to get by me. I need you there with them so I don't get distracted." I blink, astounded by the logic he was spouting forth all of a sudden.
And he wasn't ordering me…he was basically asking me.
"Okay." I murmur softly, nodding before I move to do as he suggested.
"Wait." Inuyasha suddenly stops me, though his eyes are now trained back on his brother. "Thanks for your help. Your aura reversed the Tessaiga's transformation. Now I can defeat him." I feel like the very earth beneath me is shaking in that moment. This was also the first time he had ever thanked me for my help, verbally at least. Why was he talking like this?
Why did I feel my anxiety levels shoot up suddenly?
I turn away, feeling a cold shiver run down my back as I do, running towards Miroku and Shippo…and unfortunately Jaken as well.
"Lord Sesshomaru appears to be wounded! There is blood on his face!" Jaken commentates with worry, and apparently Miroku has enough strength to punch him over the back of the head.
'It's good to see he has his priorities in line.' I can't help thinking gleefully, turning around once I reached them to face where Inuyasha and Sesshomaru were fighting. Jaken turns to face Miroku as the monk looms over him with a threatening fist, his expression nervous.
"Me thinks your earlier expression was more pleasing to the eye and less menacing to the head!" Jaken whimpers, rubbing at the back of his head. As Jaken tries to scramble away, Miroku reaches out and grabs him by the top of his head, dragging the imp back towards him with narrowed eyes.
"And where do you think you're going, you little imp?"
"Going to a funeral?" Jaken answers with an unsure voice.
"Uh oh." Shippo pipes up, and it's then that I notice him holding onto Jaken's familiar two headed staff. "Something tells me that things are going to get violent." He observes, throwing the staff away. Miroku grabs onto the front of Jaken's kimono, shaking him violently.
"Now confess, you little beast! Where did you get those poisonous insects?!" Miroku interrogates, but Jaken is so dizzy from the shaking he can hardly answer until the monk stops.
"They were given to us by a demon. I did not see his face, for he wore a mask of a baboon to conceal himself." Jaken answers, confirming what Mayumi had told me from earlier.
"It's Naraku." I look towards Miroku as he looks up to me with a frown. "Mayumi recognized the insects from earlier as his as well." Miroku quickly looks back towards Jaken, pulling him up closer by the front of his kimono.
"Tell me his whereabouts! Where can I find him?" Miroku demands, his face hard.
'I've never seen him this worked up.' Frowning, I continue to glance between where the half brothers were still standing off, back towards Miroku and Jaken. 'He's so determined to find this guy…Inuyasha as well…'
Just how many lives had Naraku screwed over?
"I know not where he is!" Jaken panics, struggling to get free from Miroku's grasp. The frustration and exhaustion no doubt has gotten to the monk as he follows Jaken's answer with multiple punches, leaving dozens of swelling bumps on the imp's body.
I found that I couldn't feel sorry for the little bastard.
"I should learn to keep my mouth shut." Jaken reflects weakly, just barely conscious. Miroku winces slightly, before falling down to one knee after tossing Jaken away, his whole body shaking.
"Miroku!" Shippo exclaims in worry, coming to stand in front of him. "Are you alright?"
"Just tired. I haven't used my Wind Tunnel on such a large demon before." He admits, grabbing at his wrist and flexing the hand that contained his Wind Tunnel. "I just need to rest." He admits, letting himself fall back to lean against the mound of earth behind him. I nod, grabbing my bow and notching an arrow.
"Rest. I've got this." Miroku nods at me, before letting his eyes slide closed. Shippo glances at me with worry, and I manage to give him a small smile.
"He'll be fine. I need you to stay with him though, okay?" Shippo nods a me solemnly, moving to stand in front of him as well. Feeling a swell of pride at his bravery, I turn, eyes coming to rest on Inuyasha once more.
"I've figured you out Sesshomaru." Inuyasha finally breaks the long silence between them. "Because you're a demon you shouldn't be able to grasp the Tessaiga. That left arm of yours must belong to a human."
'He's just seeing that now?! Talk about being slow on the uptake.' I can't help inwardly groaning, shaking my head.
'At least he's handsome.' Mayumi jokes lightly, and I appreciate the moment of relaxed humor.
"You're using a shard of the Shikon Jewel to connect the arm to your body." Inuyasha continues on. "If I can lop off that human arm, you'll no longer have what it takes to hold onto the Tessaiga." He correctly assumes, raising his right hand and cracking his knuckles as his claws glint threateningly in the moonlight.
'Gah, I hate it when he does that!' I wince, hearing the bones cracking and grinding together. 'Every fucking time!'
"And that's not all." Inuyasha rushes Sesshomaru, hand raised. "When you loose that arm I'll have myself yet another shard of the jewel!" Sesshomaru smirks confidently, before rushing to meet his half brother.
"Let's see you try to take this arm away from me." He challenges, before the two of them clash. Inuyasha misses his first strike, as does Sesshomaru with his poisoned claws. Quickly, the older half brother resorts to using his whip, but Inuyasha manages to dodge it as well before launching towards Sesshomaru with another attack.
"IRON REAVER-" Inuyasha attack is cut short as Sesshomaru delivers a solid punch with his real right hand directly to Inuyasha's face. I wince as it sends him flying, his body dragging for yards along the ground and creating a trail of turned up earth in his wake. When Inuyasha doesn't move, I know I have to step in.
"Don't miss…" I murmur to myself, letting my arrow fly. I snarl in disappointment when my arrow is too high, taking out the trap-like armor hanging on his left side of his body. It at least stops Sesshomaru in his tracks, but it also redirects his attention towards me.
"Yua!" Inuyasha frowns at me as he stands slowly. "I told you to stay out of this!"
"Inuyasha, make her stop." Sesshomaru growls, actually sounding pissed off. "Half demon though you are, the blood of a demon does run in you. Be proud of that. Do not accept human aid, even in death." I blink in surprise hearing him.
Was he trying to give his younger half brother advise?
'Bad advise, however, but still.' I think in bewildered confusion as Inuyasha turns to me once more.
"Seriously, Yua, don't try anything!" Inuyasha demands. "Sesshomaru is totally ruthless!" I frown, notching another arrow and drawing it back.
'Yua, Inuyasha is right!' I frown, ignoring Mayumi.
"Do you seriously think I'm going to stand by and let him kill you?!" I shout back, my eyes narrowing in on the shard in his arm. "I've got this!" I let the next arrow fly, confident that I really would make my target this time.
Until he grasps my flying arrow between his index and middle fingers.
'Oh fuck…' I swallow thickly, watching as his poison claws dissolve the arrow on the spot. Tessaiga begins to glow once more in his hand, drawing my eyes to it as a cold wave of foreboding washes over me.
I knew what was coming next, and there was nothing I could do to stop it.
'YUA! RUN!"
"You have had your warning." Sesshomaru growls out in annoyance. "And now I shall put a stop to your meddling once and for all!" With a sweep of the sword, I can see the energy racing towards me, the power of it causing the hair on my arms and back of my neck to stand on end. I tap into my energy, knowing it wouldn't be enough to block it completely, but it might give me a fighting chance. Just as I do I feel a warm and solid body wrap around me, covering me from the blast.
"INUYASHA!" I shout in fear for him, gripping at the front of his kimono to try and shove him away, but it was too late. My barrier only holds up for a mere second in it's weakened state, and with a pained yell Inuyasha takes the brunt of the attack, only slightly weakened by the time it hits him. We both go flying, his arms tightening around me as we do. It feels like minutes, when in reality it's only seconds, before I feel the earth greet us once more as we land hard on the ground. I bang my head, despite Inuyasha's best efforts to try and protect it, and I must have blacked out for a moment. The next thing I know Inuyasha is cupping my face, my eyes slowly focusing on his concerned amber eyes, before taking in the three jagged scars left on his cheek from Sesshomaru's punch. I reach up in return, gently running my fingers along the raised skin.
"You okay?" I can't help asking, my voice cracking slightly. Inuyasha's breath leaves him in a loud whoosh, relief flooding over his face.
"You scared the crap out of me just now!" He sighs, letting his forehead rest against my own for a moment. I feel his warmth flooding through me, relief that he was obviously okay as well.
"Same goes for me." I whisper in return, before Inuyasha slowly pulls away and sits back up, turning to glare at Sesshomaru with renewed rage.
"You're going to pay for that." He growls out low in his chest, his voice filled with deadly promise. Suddenly Miroku weakly crawls in front of us, using his staff to help him stay propped up.
"Miroku…" Inuyasha frowns, obviously worried for the monk's weakened state.
"The Tessaiga is not fully transformed, but it has such power." He observes. "There is only one method left to counter him and the sword." I weakly sit up, heading pounding, as Miroku grabs at his prayer beads. "I must attack him with my Wind Tunnel." Inuyasha shakes his head, moving to stand then as he turns to face his older half brother fully.
"Better rethink that." Inuyasha advises seriously. "Remember what almost happened the last time you opened it?" He grabs a pebble, tossing it towards the outskirts of the battlefield. My eyes widen in shock as I see more of those insects rising up from the rubble. Where had they come from? I thought I had crushed them all! "There is more of them."
'Jaken and Sesshomaru must have had more than one of those nests with them.' I frown deeply, wincing as I rub at the back of my aching head.
"Don't do it, Miroku!" Shippo pleads as he comes to stand by me. "You'll die if you get poisoned by them!"
"Take Yua and get out of here." Inuyasha suddenly orders, not even looking back towards me as he instead looks to Miroku. "Fast. Get as far away as you can."
"What?!" My mouth drops open in shock as I shake my head, quickly regretting it. I wince, but let my hand drop from the back of my head. "Inuyasha, I"m fine!" I insist, heart racing.
"You could have been killed." Inuyasha growls lowly, his hands clenching tightly into fists as he stands with his back towards me. "I won't give Sesshomaru another chance to hurt you."
"Inuyasha-"
"Don't argue with me." His voice drops lower, the pull once again returning deep in my stomach. It's so strong, almost hypnotic this time, and it effectively freezes any of the protests that I had, had ready at the tip of my tongue.
'What's happening to me?!' I inwardly gasp, voice croaking as I try to speak despite the pull.
"Are you sure?" Shippo asks, his voice wavering slightly.
"Get Yua out of here. Guard her with your life." Inuyasha presses on, Shippo's fur standing on end, before nodding.
"You will never escape me." Sesshomaru replies coldly. "I shall destroy you all with a single stroke!" He raises Tessaiga up high, the blade glowing brightly. Inuyasha charges him, even as he brings down the sword in attack.
"INUYASHA!" I can't help screaming in fright, even as Miroku grabs onto me and pulls me away. My hand extends outwards, futilely trying to draw on my non-existent energy try and block him from the brunt of the attack.
'It's no use, Yua. You need to trust in Inuyasha's strength now!' Mayumi advises, though I can hear the worry in her own voice. Suddenly Miroku throws me down onto the ground, drawing Shippo in and hunching over us as the blast from Tessaiga rushes over us. The monk protects both Shippo and I from the debris made by the blast, only raising up once it had passed. I quickly sit up, pushing Miroku weakly with my forearm to try and see around him. He shifts, only just, and I see Inuyasha in a lock with his older brother, clearly struggling.
"Inuyasha is staving off the sword." Miroku comments, clearly impressed with his last ditch effort.
'Something…something is wrong.' I swallow thickly, feeling it deep in my core.
"HEY! Why are you waiting?! Run for it!" Inuyasha turns to us, his face filled with frustration.
"We're going!" Miroku insists, grabbing onto me from under my arms and pulling me up. I struggle instantly, trying to push Miroku away from me. Even in his weakened state he's stronger than I am right now.
"NO! Miroku, stop! I can't leave! I won't!" I fight desperately, heart racing as I try to wiggle from his grasp. "Inuyasha, please! Don't make me go!" I plead then, watching as his face softens, before hardening once more in determination. He turns back towards his brother.
"YUA! Stop this! We need to go, now!" Miroku fights back, before suddenly leaning down and just throwing me over his shoulder. I gasp in shock, before taking advantage of this position to look up towards the fighting brothers.
"How touching." Sesshomaru mocks as he raises up his free arm, claws hanging threateningly overhead. "Trying to buy time to save the lives of your friends." In watch in horror as Sesshomaru's hand comes down, and straight through Inuyasha's stomach from behind. Inuyasha's pained scream fills the area. Tears leak from my eyes, and I feel a suddenly burst of energy that accompanies my terror.
"What?" Miroku gasps in shock as I use my newfound energy to leap from his shoulder, my aura surrounding me. It had to be instinct, something deep down from Mayumi, that took hold of my actions as I flew across the distance between us. My hands were opened up to the ground, allowing me to levitate with demonic-like speed towards the brothers. I stop, dropping to the ground and forming orbs of energy in both of my hands.
"Let him go, Sesshomaru!" I cry out, taking the demon by surprise as he pulls his hand free from Inuyasha's body to try and block my incoming blows.
He's too late.
With one of the orbs I blast him directly, and with Inuyasha pulling at the arm he effectively severs it from his body at the elbow. The next blast sends Sesshomaru reeling back, Inuyasha tossing his human arm away from the hilt of Tessaiga and regaining possession of it.
"The sword is mine, Sesshomaru. Father chose me to have it. You have no claim to Tessaiga, nor will you ever!" Inuyasha proclaims, holding the sword up in threat.
"Lord Sesshomaru!" Jaken exclaims as he rushes to stand next to his master. "Without the human arm, you're no longer able to hold onto Tessaiga!" He needlessly reminds him. I frown deeply, re-forming my energy in each hand again.
'Where did all these energy suddenly come from?' I can't help thinking in amazement.
'From me.' Mayumi answers, her voice incredibly weak. My eyes widen.
'Mayumi?'
Suddenly I hear Inuyasha groaning in pain from beside me, my attention redirected as he lowers himself onto one knee, using Tessaiga to prop himself up. I can't see his face, the sword blocking it from my view.
'He's not moving!'
"Lord Sesshomaru?" My gaze snaps towards Jaken and Sesshomaru, moving quickly now to stand in front of Inuyasha protectively. I raise both of my hands, orbs shining brightly in my palms. "It seems Inuyasha has finally lost consciousness." He takes a daring step towards me, but I raise my right hand up further, effectively stopping the imp in his tracks.
"Do not approach any closer." Sesshomaru states, and I look towards him in confusion with Jaken. That sounded like a warning. Suddenly a bolt of energy leaves from the tip of Tessaiga, streaking right past me and towards the imp.
"What happened?!" Jaken exclaims, fear clear in his voice. "The sword attacked of it's own accord!"
"We shall leave, Jaken. The Tessaiga is presently beyond my reach." Sesshomaru surprisingly turns away. "There is no sense in staying."
"I agree with your decision. After you, Master." Jaken states eagerly, clearly ready to be away from us. Sesshomaru forms what looks to be a cloud under the both of them, rising up into the night sky with the poisonous insects rising to follow. I watch on for a few more minutes, waiting until they were out of sight, before allowing my energy to disperse in my hands. I turn quickly towards Inuyasha, horrified at the large puddle of blood that now pooled around him. He was clearly unconscious as I quickly approached, Tessaiga transforming back to it's original state as he falls forward. Careless of the blood, I drop to my knees and catch him, stopping him from falling completely.
"Inuyasha?!" I gasp, moving him gently so I could lay him down just outside of the puddle of his blood. Without having to think twice on it I place my hands over his bleeding stomach, closing my eyes and allowing my energy to flow forth into him. I envisioned everything melding back together that had been ripped open by Sesshomaru's claws. The wound was extensive, and I could feel the energy given my Mayumi quickly depleting.
'Mayumi?!' I reach out again, hoping to hear her voice. Had she used to much?!
'I'm alright, I saved enough for me. Use the rest to heal him as much as possible…please!' Mayumi begs weakly, before I feel her presence disappear behind the barrier. Doing as she asked, I continue to feed my energy into him until I can't any longer. The wound is still opened, still bleeding slightly, but his organs had at least been repaired. Relief floods me as I see his face relax from the pained grimace, his breathing coming a lot easier now.
"Yua? Is Inuyasha going to be okay?" Shippo asks from the side, he and Miroku having rushed back moments ago. I look to him, my vision fuzzy.
"Yeah, he'll be alright." I murmur softly, before looking to Miroku. "I'm going to pass out now."
I feel Inuyasha's warm body under me before darkness takes me completely as well.
I can hear the wind whistling, a breeze catching against my legs, even through the rest of my body was warm. My cheek was pressed against something firm, and I could hear a heart pumping against my ear.
'Inuyasha.' I think weakly, the scent of pine washing over my nose. I open my eyes, finding myself staring up at his strong jaw as he looks ahead in determination. He has me wrapped up in his arms, his kimono covering everything but my legs and keeping me warm against the early morning air. I shift slightly to look around, bewildered as I see we are currently on top of Miroku's badger friend, Hachi. Miroku sat at the head, Shippo leaning tiredly against him.
"You're safe." Inuyasha's voice grumbles lowly in his chest, Looking up once again I see he's look down at me with an unreadable expression. His face was soft, but his eyes were narrowed. "We're going home, Yua." My eyes widen in surprise as I slowly sit up, my hand landing on the crusty, dried up blood in the center of his kimono.
"Your wound!" I remember, looking down at the spot wide eyed as I snatch my hand away. His hand suddenly takes it, holding onto it firmly.
"You healed me, as much as you could at least." Inuyasha murmurs softly then, before lacing our fingers together gently over his chest. I look at our hands in momentary shock, before feeling a blush rise on my cheeks as I dare to look back up at him. Thankfully he's looking ahead once more.
"I'm glad you're okay." I whisper softly, letting my head rest on his shoulder then, too tired to hold it up or to be bothered with being embarrassed cuddling into him. I feel his head tilt to rest against my own, my entire body thrumming at the feeling of safety and care that he was giving me. He doesn't have to speak to let me know that he feels the same way. 'He really does care, and I honestly don't know what I would have done if I had lost him tonight.' The realization hits me so hard that I feel tears burning at the corner of my eyes.
I'm in love with Inuyasha.
"Hey." Inuyasha's voice cuts in tenderly, and I feel him let go of my hand to cup my cheek, brushing away the wet streak left by my tears. "Everything is okay. You're safe. I'm safe. We have Tessaiga back." He tilts my head up to face him, lowering his own to rest his forehead against mine. His nose rubs against my own, like it has before, but this time he doesn't stop there. My heart races as his nose drags softly along my cheek, towards my ear before he stops. Goosebumps erupt all over my skin as his warm breath fans over the side of my face and down my neck. "I'm never letting you get hurt again. I promise." He whispers hotly into my ear as his arm around my waist tightens possessively, and I can't help giving a shaky breath.
"Don't ever ask me to leave when you are in trouble again, okay?" I argue, shaking my head and gripping at the front of his kimono tightly over his chest. "Please…don't make me." I beg him, and I can feel him stiffen slightly before he relaxes. He pulls his head back to rest onto of my own, his right hand coming to rest on the back of my head.
"I won't." He assures me after a moment, running his claws gently through my loosened hair. The feeling was so soothing that I could feel my eyes starting to close, drowsiness hitting me hard. "Sleep, Yua. I've got you." He promises softly, and it's as if his words are magic as the world around me goes dark once again.
"Well, that was certainly interesting." Ice crawls down my back as my eyes snap open, hearing that now all too familiar voice. Looking around I can see the setting is Kaede's hut, the sun just barely starting to peak through the window nearest to me. I see him standing at the doorway, his pelt still held securely around his body.
"You would think so." I mutter, moving to sit on my knees, facing him. "Poisonous insects, nice touch." I add dryly.
"So you enjoyed those, hm?" He chuckled lowly. "Mayumi must have told you they were a present from me."
"Luckily I killed most of them before Miroku could suck them in with his Wind Tunnel." I smirk, and Naraku goes quiet. "You need some new tricks."
"Do I?" Naraku questions, taking a few steps towards me. I felt my heart skip a beat, and not in a good way, but I keep my face straight. "I thought my last trick was rather interesting." He nods towards the fading hand-shaped bruise on my wrist. My eyes narrow as I look at it, before looking back towards him.
"Inuyasha is going to kill you for what you did to Kikyo and Mayumi." I promise him darkly, my hands clenching tightly at the material of my pants. Naraku laughs coldly once more, quickly closing the distance between the both of us as he reached out a clawed hand, trailing his nails gently down the side of my face.
The threat was very clear.
"He'll be so hell bent on his revenge for his two ex-lovers, that I'll easily be able to take you for myself." Naraku coos. "And when-"
"Yeah, yeah." I frown, slapping his hand away. "And when I turn nineteen you'll try to make me create the Sacred Jewel for you. I have that part of your plan figured out." I mutter disdainfully. "But I won't do it."
"You will to save your child." Naraku states simply, and my eyes go wide as I nearly choke on my own spit.
Say what?!
"You think you have my entire plan figured out, but in truth you've only got a small portion." Naraku grins wickedly from under his baboon pelt. "You see, before you turn nineteen, I shall be sure to plant my seed in you." I feel nauseated as he places his hand over my stomach. "You shall bear me a son, or a daughter, and when the time is right I shall make you choose. The life of our baby, or the Sacred Jewel."
"You sick bastard." I withdrawal from him, hands clenched tightly into fists.
"And then I shall have three Sacred Jewels at my disposal, once I kill the half breed." Naraku snarls the last bit out. "The one you are currently collecting, the one you shall create for me, and the one that my child will create when he or she is of age."
"You'll never get your hands on me!" I assure him, sliding away across the floor, even as he continued to advance. "And definitely not long enough to be able to rape me!"
"You forget." Naraku smirks as he traps me against the far wall, hands slamming down against it to either side of me. "Your precious Inuyasha isn't able to protect you here." He hums as he lowers his head slowly towards me. My eyes widen in realization as absolute horror takes over.
He's right.
"NO!" I shout, pressing my hand against his exposed lips, my hand glowing purple with my aura. The energy explodes, sending Naraku flying across Kaede's hut.
"NO!" I shout, sitting up and looking around wide eyed. Breathing heavily, I can see I'm in Kaede's hut, like I had been in my dreams. Looking towards the doorway, my shoulders slump in relief seeing it empty. Looking down towards my shaking hand, I try to slow my breathing back down to normal. Once I had, the nausea took over.
"Yua?" Shippo's concerned voice suddenly comes from the far corner of the hut, and a wave of feverish heat comes over me. I knew that feeling, and I knew exactly what it meant. Without a word I throw the blankets to the side, getting up and rushing out of the hut. I manage to make it just around the corner towards the back before I fall to my knees, heaving what little was left in my stomach from last night onto the grass. Shippo comes up behind me, awkwardly rubbing my back as he looks a little sick himself. No doubt the smell was killing him. When I'm done I grab a nearby leaf from a low hanging tree to wipe my mouth clean, before grabbing Shippo up in my arms and standing with him, walking away from where I had vomited.
"I'm sorry, Shippo." I murmur softly, holding him to my chest as he looks up to me in worry, digging into his pack and thankfully pulling out a mint leafe. I take it gratefully, chewing on it to get rid of the bitter taste of bile in my mouth.
"What are you sorry for? Are you alright?" He asks in concern, and I nod, giving a small smile as I run a shaking hand through his hair. There was no way in hell I was telling this little boy what Naraku had planned for me.
"I'll be fine. Where are the others?" I ask softly, and Shippo frowns.
"Miroku is resting with his friend Hachi nearby. Inuyasha went off somewhere, but he said he'd be back. Kaede warned him that he shouldn't be wandering around." Shippo informed me, and I frown in worry. Kaede was right, he should be resting after everything he had been through.
And it looked like it was only going to get worse.
"Yua? Shippo?" Inuyasha's voice grumbles out from behind us then, his nose wrinkled. "What's that sour smell?" I blush, letting Shippo down then as Kaede calls for him towards her garden.
"It was me…" I admit reluctantly. "I threw up." His eyes sharpen in worry as he quickly closes the distance between us. His hand comes to rest on my forehead, clearly feeling for a fever. "I'm not sick." I say as I shake my head, taking his hand in my own and lowering it from my forehead. "I need to talk to you."
"I need to talk to you too." Inuyasha admits, nodding towards the forest. "Let's go somewhere private." I blink in surprise, feeling my heart racing slightly at the serious look on his face. Nodding, I follow him, frowning as he winces in pain.
"You really shouldn't be walking around like this." I comment, coming up to his side and gently taking his arm.
"I'm fine." Inuyasha replies firmly, but he doesn't pull away from me. We walk for a distance, before my eyes widen as I realize where we are.
The Sacred Tree.
"I still remember when I first saw you here." Inuyasha mutters with a dry laugh, smirking slightly. "You were so helpless." I roll my eyes at him, huffing slightly as I let go of his arm to place my hands on my hips.
"I wasn't that helpless. I just had no idea what was happening at the time." I contradict, frowning slightly.
"You've gotten so much stronger since then." Inuyasha goes on, complimenting me. My face must show my surprise, because his playful smirk widens slightly. "Don't look so shocked."
"No, it's just…you've never said that to me before." I reply softly, eyes still wide. "A-are you sure you're feeling okay?" Inuyasha scoffs, looking back towards the tree then and the smooth surface where his body had rested against it for fifty years.
"I should be asking you that." He reflects, and the dream comes rushing back to me like a tidal wave. "Why did you get sick?"
"Naraku visited me in my dream again." I answer honestly, watching the way his back stiffens as he stands next to me. "H-he said some things."
"What things?" Inuyasha asks sharply, turning his body towards me. I turn to face him as well, oddly not able to meet his eyes as I tell him exactly what.
"He says that when he kidnaps me, he's going to…" My throat seizes up, and I can't even say the word. "That he's going to make me carry his child, so that he can use that child against me for the Sacred Jewel I will be able to create." I murmur, looking down at my feet. "Then he'd use that child to gain a third Sacred Jewel when he or she turns nineteen." It's silent for a moment, but Inuyasha's shaking voice soon speaks up.
"That sick bastard." Inuyasha growls low in his chest, his clenched hand coming into my view, before I finally look up into his face. I'm floored by the absolute fury I see there. "I won't let him touch you." He promises, voice rumbling low in his chest.
"He can touch me in my dreams." I whisper softly, my voice cracking with fear. Inuyasha looks momentarily stunned, before the fury is back with a renewed vengeance. Suddenly he reaches out, grabbing me more firmly than usual by my upper arm and dragging me into his chest as his body very nearly vibrates against my own.
"You're mine." Inuyasha rumbles lowly into my ear, and I gasp at the electricity I feel shoot through me at his words. It tingles as it moves from the tips of my fingers and toes, before deepening into something more by the time it reaches my core and settles into my lower belly.
What was he saying? Was it what I think he was? Naraku had claimed me in a similar fashion in my dreams, but it had felt cold and revolting compared to this. This felt warm…protective…
Sexual.
That was the feeling that overwhelmed me so suddenly as the pull in my core seemed to manifest between my legs, an uncomfortable sensation echoing there that begged to be taken care of. I was just a month from being eighteen, I had felt sexual frustration before. Hell, I had experienced orgasms before at my own hand, but this was so much more deeper…more intense.
It called for something more than my fingers to relieve the tension.
Inuyasha suddenly takes a deep breath against me, his head tilting down to run his nose along my neck. A constant, low rumbling nose echoes from his chest as he does, and I feel his arms shifting as his hands start to move over me. One comes up to the back of my head, the other drifting down my side from just under my breasts to my hip, gripping it firmly once he reached his destination. He pulls his head back slowly from my neck, looking down at me with unmistakable heat in his gaze.
He wanted me.
My heart was beating so hard I was sure he could feel it against his own chest with how tightly we were pressed together. Inuyasha's nose suddenly flares, his face taunt, and in that instance I know he can smell exactly what he's doing to me.
But I'm too fucking turned on to even care enough to be embarrassed at this point.
His ambers eyes lock on my own, the hand at the back of my hand clenching slightly as his fingers tug firmly at my hair, tilting my head back just a little bit more. My eyes widen as the sharp tug sends another round of arousal straight to between my legs, his eyes darkening further as he clearly smells it. Inuyasha leans back down towards my neck, and instinctively I tilt my head back further, wanting to give him more room. He runs his nose softly down along my neck once more.
"You're submitting to me." He growls lowly, as if to answer my silent question about why I was doing what I was doing. I chew on my lower lip, holding back a whimper as his lips slowly drag back up my neck towards my ear, my hands tightening on his kimono.
Was this really happening?
"Yua…" He groans into my ear, and I feel like my heart has suddenly stopped. He whispered my name. Mine. Not Mayumi's. He knows it's me he's doing this to. Without second guessing myself I turn my head and lean up before he can stop me, sealing my lips to his own. With the way he stiffens, I know I've caught him by surprise. It doesn't last long until he's absolutely devouring me, turning us around so he could press me up against a nearby tree. Our breathing is harsh between each kiss, lips slipping and sliding against one and other's hotly, as if we couldn't get enough of one and other. His one arm remains around my waist, but I feel the tree behind me shake as he digs the claws of his other hand into it's bark. It was like all the sexual chemistry came to a head so suddenly, that we both had no idea how to deal with it, or what to do next.
"Inuyasha…please…" I beg against his lips, unsure of what I was even begging for at this point as my hands dig into his kimono. I could feel his leg shift so it rested between my own, gasping as his thigh rubbed against me between the legs. It only seemed to light the fire he had started even more, rather than to quench it.
"We can't, Yua." Inuyasha breaks the kiss, his lips just millimetres from my own as his head rests against mine. He's breathing heavily, the arm that was wrapped around my waist tightening.
Can't? Can't what?
Suddenly he leaps with me from the tree, and I'm shocked at his strength as he jumps through the forest with me at his side. We land by the Bone Eater's Well, and I can see it took a lot out of him as his arm drops from around me. He's breathing heavily, either from exertion or our kiss, I'm not sure. The heat is still there in his eyes, but so is a grim determination.
Why did he bring me here?
"Inuyasha?" I ask, reaching forward then, but he steps back, shaking his head. Hurt, I withdraw my hand against my chest. "What's going on? You were just kissing me a second ago." I press, feeling more confused than ever.
"You need to go home, Yua." Inuyasha responds lowly, before slowly raising his hand up to show me the jewel on my necklace. I gasp, raising my hand up towards my now bare neck.
'He-he took it. He kissed me to distract me!' I think, feeling horrified as embarrassed tears burn at my eyes. "Inuyasha, what are you saying?" I croak out, glancing towards the well, before looking back towards him.
"I won't let you put yourself in danger any longer, Yua." Inuyasha frowns deeply, taking a threatening step towards me. "You'll be safe in your era. Safe from Naraku." My eyes widen in realization.
He thinks he's protecting me!
"Wait, Inuyasha, don't-" I'm cut off as he pushes me hard, the back of my knees hitting the edge of the well.
"Go back to your time, and stay there Yua!" Inuyasha orders, before giving me one last shove to send me toppling over the edge.
The last thing I see is his eyes, filled with guilt and sadness, before the void takes me one last time.
Sooooooo there is that.
