That first vision of Revali was a sight to behold. I had met warriors before, to be sure. The knights of Hyrule were none to be trifled with. Powerful, compact men, even without their armor, and training that was rivaled by none. There was something about him, though, that surpassed the others. A manner of walking, an air of bravado that arose not of false smugness but of genuine pride, a true understanding of his worth and measure. He would not exaggerate his skill; what he promised he could do, he would.
I remember entering the training ground of the Rito. Him leaping from the ground, a blast of air beneath him, and being short of breath. It wasn't just the cold, though that did make me shiver. It was also something about his form. Grace and power combined into a compact, unusual shape - something exotic and beautiful.
I saw him take flight and wished more than anything that I could soar along with him. He was the embodiment of true freedom. Even with his burdens of duty, he was not held down by them. It was as if the sense of duty elevated him, raised him even more than the tallest tops of the Hebra heights. And yet, even though you could tell he knew that nothing held him back, he still showed restraint.
That restraint was what made me love him the most… But it also filled me with the deepest regret of all.
