Spring Break went by in a blink of an eye before we knew it the Monday back to school arrived. I guess it's true what people say about time going by quickly when you're having fun. That would also explain why these last few years have felt eternal for me because for the most part I didn't have any fun.
That Monday as always we walked to school together. "So Adrien what do you plan to do after you graduate?" You suddenly asked me leaving me completely of guard.
"Um... Anyway do you want me to buy you something like a present?" I asked trying to change the topic.
"I'm confused what does that have anything to do with graduating?" You asked looking at me.
"Nothing I just had the sudden desire to give you a present." I replied.
"You are just trying to avoid my question Adrien. Plus you can't just give someone a present you need to have a reason to do so." You stated.
"I want to buy a present for the person I'm in love with that should be a good enough reason." I replied as we walked in the school.
"I guess but if that was the only reason to get someone a present than I would have to get you something everyday." You stated but after you realized what you said you quickly looked away while blushing.
"Well your logic doesn't make any sence because it would mean that I could only give you a present during Valentine day Chrismas and your birthday." I suddenly realized something. I didn't even know when your birthday was. "By the way when is your birthday and yes that sounds terrible coming from your boyfriend."
You giggled. "No it's fine and it's on July 9th."
"Alright well mark your calendar because on that day you have a date with me." I said with a smile.
You looked at me with a blush and smile. "Sure that sounds great."
"Good now I have to go to class see you later." I started to walk to my class.
"Yea see you after class-hay wait Adrien you didn't answer my question." I heard you say as I walled in my class and took my seat.
As I waited for class to start I thought about graduation. I wanted to study psychology to become a psychiatrist but I didn't want to be away from you or be too busy to be with you so I didn't know what to do.
At that moment Nino walked in the room and sat next to me. "Good morning Adrien."
"Hay Nino have you thought about what you plan to do after graduation. I mean I know that you're going to the United States with Alya to study music but what's your plan excidly." I asked.
"Well Alya and I will stay at the dorms of the university until we have enough money to rent an apartment. We plan to do half time jobs obviously whatever decent job is available." Nino replied.
The conversation of graduating kept going later that day in the club room. "You seniors have mentioned what you want to do after graduation but do you guys have any solid plan on what you'll do?" Kagami asked everyone of the seniors.
"I'm going to the University of Paris to study modeling and I'm going to live in the dorm." Juleka stated.
"I'm doing the same as her but instead of study of modeling I'm going to study music and get my teaching degree since I'm going to be a music teacher. In the meantime I'm going to work in the music store of the city." Luka stated.
"I'm going to study at the University of Paris as an art major while Chloe studies fashion." Nathaniel stated and Chloe nodded.
"As you know I'm going to the United States with Nino I'm going to learn to be a detective while Nino studies music." Alya stated.
"Adrien what are you going to do?" Juleka asked me.
"I heard that you haven't decided if you will go to college or not so you have been avoiding your counselor like the plague." Luka stated.
"Mari you should give him some encouragement to make up his mind." Manon said with a giggle. You just smiled with a slight blush.
A month passed and I still didn't know what to do after high school. The finals for the seniors were given ahead of time and I barely had any time to spend time togethe with you.
"How did the tests go?" You once asked me as we were sitting on the couch of the living room.
"A little bit too easy if you ask me." I replied. "Though I'm glad that I'm done with finals."
"Why don't you go hang out with Nino or the boys now that you have some time off." You suggested.
I took your hand. "I prefer to spend my time with you." You smiled with a small blush.
As the time went by the seniors were busy with their upcoming college exams and before I knew it May has arrived.
One day your parents wanted to talk to me in private. "I think it's about time we have a little talk." Your dad said with a serious tone.
"Marinette told us that you haven't decided on what to do after graduation and we can probably guess why." Sabine said gently. "We know that you care a lot about Marinette and we appreciate it but you shouldn't hold back your dreams just for her."
"Honestly I don't want to graduate and leave her behind." I replied. "I want to graduate with her and if I have to be hold back a year than I'm fine with that."
"You're so immature. Who are you trying to impress. If you do that you make Marinette be upset." Tom stated. "You realize that don't you?"
Your dad was right I was being immature... I still might be. I was able to help my friends when they needed me and in my last year thanks to you I was able to become a better person. Though as I was leaving you behind I didn't know what to do anymore. Maybe if I was more mature I would know what to do. It was May and everyone was busy... Except for me that is. Enterence exams college and job applications... I felt like I was left behind.
On the last week of school fewer seniors bothered to go to school and before I knew it the day before graduation has arrived. I was talking to Nino before homeroom when Mrs. Bustier walked up to us. "I want to congratulate you two for graduating."
"Thanks for sticking up for us all these years. We wouldnt have gotten here without you." Nino stated.
"Of course you would now let's go to your last homeroom class." Mrs. Bustier replied.
On the day of graduation it went as expected and I said goodbye to Kagami and Manon. "Please take care of Marinette next year." I told them.
"Of course we will she's our friend." Manon said with a huge smile.
"I wish you the best of luck." Kagami stated and I nodded.
I took pictures with some of the other seniors before you walked up to me. "Congratulations Adrien I'm proud of you. I'm glad that you were able to graduate."
I smiled softly. "I really did it didn't I?" You nodded with a smile. "It's all over I won't be a student here again. School was always my escape from my family problems but you made it even better. There were so many times that I was so miserable that I was almost about to quit. The last year I spent with you I finally enjoyed myself. I was finally happy I don't want to graduate now. I just want to stay with you."
You took my hand. "You can't hold yourself back like that for something so silly. You have the chance to move on and you should take it. I want you to move on and in the meantime I'll do my best for a new year. Let's go take a walk Adrien just the two of us." I nodded.
I wanted to keep walking and never stop forever wherever. Along the never ending path together with you.
The summer went by well. We hanged out with our friends a lot since we knew once the new school year started we wouldn't have the opportunity to do so as much. Soon it was your birthday and as I promised I took you out on a date but I took you home early since our friends set up a birthday party for you.
"Here Marinette this is your birthday present." I handed you a gift.
You opened it and smiled when you saw what was inside. "It's a stuff dog thank you." You hugged it before looking at everyone. "Thank you guys for wanting to be here and celebrate my birthday it means a lot to me."
Before we knew it the new school year was arriving and Alya and Nino left to the United States. The whole group went to say goodbye to them and it was a bittersweet kind of moment.
Your parents let me work at the bakery full time and during school orientation you found out that you would be in the same class as Kagami. One Monday morning you told me it was club orientation and you prepared a speach to recruit new members. "I hope everything works out good luck Marinette."
You smiled brightly. "Thanks."
Later that day I was taking care of the bakery when I saw that you were about to go up the stairs so I quickly went to you. "Marinette how did club orientation go?"
You smiled but it wasn't your usual smile. "It went alright."
"Tell me the truth Marinette I know that you are hiding something from me." I stated.
You sigh. "The truth is that I messed up the speach but Kagami and Manon still clapped for me and even if no new members join we will still have enough club members for activities and we still have Mrs. Bustier as our advisor."
Even though you messed up your speach you still got to recruit new members because they remembered the fashion shows we did the year before and some were freshman too. You were still the president and Kagami took the role as vice president while still being the student council president.
One day your parents asked me to do some errands and I took the opportunity to look for an apartment to rent but even the cheepist apartment was too expensive.
"HI Adrien." Luka stated walking over to me with Juleka. "We haven't seen you for a while. How's Marinette?"
"She's doing good." I replied.
"The university isn't even far we should set up a reunion once our schedules clear up." Juleka stated.
"Are you still living with the Dupain family?" Luka asked.
"Yes but I was looking for apartments in rent before I saw you." I replied.
"One of my friends is moving out from his apartment in an old apartment complex maybe you can get it." Juleka stated.
"You could also work with me at the music store they're hiring." Luka added.
I couldn't believe my luck I was able to get an apartment and a new job with help from Juleka and Luka. The next day I told you and your family about my plans. You and your parents supported me and that day I worked my last shift at the bakery.
"Listen Adrien come to me whenever you have any problem okay. Being an adult isn't easy so if you need help with anything don't be afraid to call me." Your dad told me as we worked.
"I appreciate it. It means a lot to me to hear that." I stated. "Would you let me take Marinette with me someday?"
"That's up to her and not me. She's old enough to make her own decisions now." He replied.
On that Saturday you and your parents helped me move in to my new apartment and your parents even gave me some extra furniture that they had and in no time we were done since I didn't have a lot of things and the apartment was small.
After the move I took you on a date before walking you home. "See you tomorrow."
"Yea... Um Adrien I know that you two don't talk much but did you tell your dad that you moved?" You asked me. "You should tell him where you live just in case something comes up."
"You're right I'll call him later." I replied.
And thus I began living on my own... Well obviously Plagg was with me but it wasn't the same. I was an adult I couldn't rely on anyone else now. It was my first night alone and I could barely sleep.
"Adrien wake up." I opened my eyes and saw you next to my bed. "Your new job starts today and you'll going to be late. I made you breakfast and if you want I can make dinner for you too."
"I don't know when I'll be back." I replied.
You smiled. "That's alright I'll just wait for you."
My first day working at the music store wasn't so hard I just had to put the instruments in their place and give them to the customers. Like you promised you had dinner for me when I arrived. Having an adult life wasn't going to be so hard as long as I had you by my side.
