Once we got to the bakery again I got this sudden desire to go in your old room and so I did. Honestly when I did it felt like I walked to the past because your room was the same way you left it when you moved with me. All the stuff animals that I got you were there so I picked up the stuff hamster and hugged it. "Marinette."
Sabine walked in the room. "Hay Adrien. It hasn't changed at all huh? We hardly touched it since she married you and moved out all those years ago."
"Yea I feel like I went back in time." I stated.
"Oh do you want to take that stuff hamster with you?" Sabine asked me seeing that I was holding it. "Emma loves it. Actually she loves all the stuff animals that are in here especially the ones you got Marinette."
I sighed. "I'm sorry that I forced Emma on you two this whole time. Our little trip helped me a lot about being a father."
"There's no need to be sorry about we didn't do anything special." Sabine replied.
"That's not true she has been living here for almost over a year and you had to basically raise her even when she lived with me." I stated. "You raised her to be a good girl. I don't know how to thank you. I hope I do at least half as good as you in raising her. I'll try to do it on my own. I'll teach her to be kind and strong just like her mother."
Sabine smiled. "I know that you can do it."
"I promise to repay you however I can." I stated.
"As long as you're happy that's going to be enough payment for us." Sabine replied.
It was late when we arrived so I stayed for the night. I slept with Emma in the guest room... It was my room for a long time. The next day I packed Emma's things and soon we were ready to go. "Well see you later."
"Take care you two." Sabine stated.
"I'm going to make my work schedule more flexible but I would still need your help sometimes to drop her off at school pick her up and take care of her while I'm at work." I replied.
"Sure we can do that." Tom stated.
"Have you thought about the other thing?" Sabine asked.
I nodded. "I'm going to see him soon."
On Monday I dropped Emma at school and went to work. I talked to my boss about making my schedule more flexible and would you believe that he was happy about it. My new schedule would start the next day though I still got permission to leave in the middle of the day to pick up Emma from school.
"Daddy!" Emma exclaimed when she saw me.
"Hay Emma ready to go to the bakery?" I asked her picking her up in my arms and she nodded. I dropped her off at the bakery and went back to work.
That has been our life ever since. During the night time I would and still do read her a bedtime story or sing her a song and she always sleeps with the stuff hamster and Plagg laying next to her.
You know last week I did something I have been dreading to do for many years... I went to see my dad. I took Emma with me so she could meet him and vise versa. Though I also did it because I needed emotional support.
When I was face to face with my dad I felt like nothing changed he looked and had the same vipe as when I last saw him 9 years ago. "It's nice to see you again Adrien."
"It's nice to see you too dad." I replied before gesturing to Emma. "This is your granddaughter Emma."
"Nice to meet you grandpa." Emma said with a bright smile.
Dad smiled softly at her. "Nice to meet you too Emma."
I knew that I had to be the first one to speak up. "I saw grandma the other day. She told me a lot of things about you and I when I was younger and after mom died. It made me realize how difficult it must have been for you... It also brought back a lot of memories. Listen dad you worked very hard for many years to try to forget and in the process you isolated yourself from everyone including me. You need a break you already have done enough for me and I forgive you for not always being there for me. I experienced something similar dad Marinette is in a coma and I have almost become you but now I understand everything and I need to to be strong for Emma. Dad you have done your part it's time to let people that care about you back in. Grandma wants you to visit her and it will be a good opportunity for you to clear your mind. There have been some times that you weren't the best dad but overall you weren't the worst dad and I still love you as my father."
"Adrien when you left 9 years ago I didn't blame you because I knew that I wasn't the best father ever. When you invited me to your wedding I wanted to go but I didn't want to ruin your happiness with my pain. Your mother's death was the worst thing that happened to me I even wanted to die but I knew that I couldn't because you needed me but I couldn't be there for you completely. Like you said I wasn't the best father at times so when you left and never came back I thought that I lost the one thing I had left your love as my son. Though your words now mean a lot to me and I want to apologize for everything bad I made you go though." Once he was done he hugged me and I hugged back.
Now my dad and I have a good father son relationship just like what you said would happen someday. You said you would go with me to see him and I know that day will still come I just know it. Right now he's visiting grandma and clearing his mind hopefully it helps him just like it helped me.
Yesterday I took Emma to school and you won't believe who I saw there. "Luka? What are you doing here?"
"I'm a music teacher here actually I'm Emma's music teacher isn't that right Emma?" Luka asked playfully.
"Yes Mr. Coufaine." Emma said with a smile.
"I wanted to tell you sooner but you wouldn't answer any calls from your friends." Luka added.
"Right how's everyone else by the way." I asked him.
"Everyone is married by now Alya and Nino, Nathaniel and Chloe, me and Kagami, and Juleka got married with a guy she met in college. I think Manon is dating Nino's brother Chris." Luka stated.
Luka and I caught up with the lost time. "So it's Emma's birthday tomorrow what do you plan to do?"
"I actually promised Emma that she could meet Marinette tomorrow so we're going to the hospital with her parents to see her." I replied.
"Are you ready to see her again?" Luka asked.
"Yes it's going to do me good to see her and talk to her even if she's not awake." I replied.
"And here we are now." Adrien said taking Marinette's hand. "I hope that this helped you remember everything that we have been through. We have been though a lot and if you allow it I want to go though a lot more with you."
Adrien suddenly felt Marinette's hand move and when he looked at her she was opening her eyes. "A-Adrien?"
"Marinette!" Adrien exclaimed hugging her. "You're awake!"
"Yes I'm awake... How long was I asleep?" Marinette asked
"For five years." Adrien replied. "I'll go tell the rest that you woke up. I'll be right back."
In a few minutes Tom and Sabine rushed in and hugged her. "My sweet girl you're awake at last." Sabine said overjoyed.
"I'm so glad to see that my little girl is awake." Tom said just as overjoyed.
"I'm glad to see you again too." Marinette stated before seeing Adrien holding a little girl in his arms. "Is that-"
"Marinette this is Emma our daughter she's turning 5 today." Adrien replied.
"HI mommy." Emma said with a smile waving at her.
"I can't believe that I missed 5 years of her life she's so beautiful." Marinette stated.
"You might have missed 5 years of her life but we still have a whole lifetime to be with her." Adrien replied.
"How are the rest of our friends?" Mari asked.
"Good Alya became a private detective Nino a professional DJ. Kagami a politician Luka a music teacher Nathaniel a professional artist. Chloe a hair and nail stylist. Juleka became a model actually she works for my dad and Manon is still studying at the University of Paris." Adrien replied.
"Wow all of our friends dreams came true." Marinette stated.
"Now that you're back our dreams well come true too." Adrien replied.
A year later Marinette became a fashion designer like what she always dreamt about and Adrien finally became a psychiatrist. They had the happy life with Emma like they always wanted.
"So Marinette do you know what made you wake up that certain day I went to visit you?" Adrien asked one day.
Marinette smiled. "I heard everything you told me and I knew that I had to live to remember."
