I will be playing God Eater Resurrection in tandem to write this fic.
The next day, Nova wondered as she looked at the supplies which was in front of her. Some kind of engineered corn was it? It looked like the what you would expect a corn would look like but the taste was... unique? She tilted her head a bit in wonder. Was Amor, the one of her who was in Fenrir HQ, not getting funds to make good food? Childe secretly came to her residence and dumped the food here. Since they ate almost anything it wasn't the case of bad food.
In fact, it was quite the opposite. It was loaded with nutrition good for the human health.
But like she said, the taste was meh! Nova wasn't sure if she wanted to eat it. After all she was quite spoilt by her children. Amor had the luxury of providing best of the best which to her surprise was quite luxurious. Her memory before her kidnapping was few but she knew what Amor provided her could easily cross thousands of dollars in price. He provided her with 5 star apartment, luxury chocolate, A5 meat or something, ice creams as well as some baked food made by Leah?
Now she thinks about it, she was spoilt very much indeed.
Her palate had gained a distaste for such food. She had learned to mimic the taste bud of human beings. It was quite easy for the Oracle Cells as they were a part of human body before the transformation. The original blueprint of human senses were there, just not used except when the time came. Now she looked around her ghetto it had nothing much going for itself.
"Hmm, should I decorate it?"
After all Kota was scheduled to come after his first mission in the 'Abandoned City'. Kota was simply too exhausted to come yesterday and he had his first mission today so he wanted to come in the evening. His initiation to be precise.
"Well, since he is coming later so I still have..."
It was 2 pm.
"... minimum 3 hours?"
It was enough for a short recon in the Abandoned City. She heard that it was still full of old world stuff. Also she could look at Kota himself and how he would fare against Aragami. Her plan was perfect! She suddenly dashed out of her room. After all she just wanted a reason to go outside the city. As she was in the outermost part of the city, she was only a few blocks away from the wall. It was also however, desolate with few patrols of God Eaters coming every few hours or so. And the recent one had just patrolled 10 minutes ago.
It was perfect!
There was nobody else including cameras.
Double perfect!
And Ms. Fujiki had gone outside to shop while Nozomi was playing with her friends so no one would notice her suddenly vanish.
This day couldn't get any better!
Nova huffed as she suddenly transformed into dust and went above the wall. It was big and repulsive enough to deter Aragami. And voila! Her perfected form suddenly appeared outside the wall. Now she could transform without worry. Her cells rearranged into more beastly form. A big 20 foot white wolf with armor plating and orange stripes appeared on her place. She stretched her legs and forearms and suddenly bolted. Lightning coated around her body as she suddenly sped up. She looked like a white blur.
In hindsight, Nova had just heard 'Abandoned City' in the passing but what she did not know was technically every city is a 'Abandoned City'. So in short, she was utterly lost in the wreckage of a once great city. She frowned in annoyance as she reverted back to her human form. Nova stretched her radar, which covered a radius of 50 km right now.
As she amassed more and more variants and cores within her, she grew even more stronger. She searched through her radar which excluded Aragami in favor of strange Aragami like signal provided by God Eaters. There were two in her vicinity. The first one was quite the normal God Eater signal she received but the second one? It was a mixed bag to be precise. If regular God Eater felt less controlled of their Aragami side then this new presence felt like it had somehow, emphasis on 'somehow', tamed a bit more of the Aragami side which could allow a plethora of abilities. Was this the new God Eater? She had heard Childe mentioning about it when he went to sell his ware there.
Now she was kind of curious now. Nova ran a little bit into their location remembering to make her skin blend with the ruins. Nova quickly parkoured her way to them, jumping from buildings to buildings. It was easy for her, if she wanted she could even reach space with her Draconic Form. It was easier to forget that she had already transcended into a being outside of humanity. She was, or still is, a will of the world.
Now she could get a view of both of them. She could instantly recognize the tall black haired man as Lindow Amamiya. Amor had praises for his character, despite seemingly carefree, he cares the survival of his pals. Now the other was the boy who interested her. The boy had light brown short hair with turquoise eyes. And yes she could see that far. Praise be to the wonder of Oracle cells if it was on their side. Back to the boy, he wore blue Fenrir formal uniform for newbies. Or a mascot cloth designed by Sorrow to be easy on the eyes. He had white shirt under the jacket, a black glove in his left hand, black pants and short dark gray boots. Yes, his potential was far greater than Amamiya's.
They were just finished after ripping the core of Ogretails. She had heard from Ms. Fujiki that there was another recruit along with Kota which she had hoped would get well along with Kota. After all there wasn't much kids close to his age here. Speaking of Kota she wondered what she would take when she suddenly stepped on a weakened spot of the roof causing a crash. Nova spoke profanities under her breath in annoyance. She hoped they were far away to hear her. Nova expanded her hearing to spy on them talking.
"... relax, recruit. Some of these building are way older than us. I have heard it crash every now on then in my missions. Chill out. We are just waiting for extraction."
"..."
"Wow, you really don't talk much, eh? Though I must say, you moved quite well for a recruit. I am impressed!"
After a while she could see the helicopters take them away. She sighed in relief before giving a nasty glare at the roof. Not that it hurt her anything, she just felt a bit miffed. Nova dusted off her clothes as she looked around. The room was not that big, and it looked like it had gathered quite a bit of dust. She could make out something like "..rally" on the wall. She wiped away the dust, or more specifically 'ate' it from the wall to see a poster of "Bugarally".
Nova then spread around and ate all the dust bit. It really didn't taste like anything but the deed was done. She could see posters of various such fictional character on the wall ranging from 'Naruto', 'Bleach', 'One piece' and other such things along with figurines and DVDs. Nova guessed that she was in the room of a hard-core otaku. She smiled a bit at the thought of making Kota a wee bit jealous. After Nova came home, or she tried to. She couldn't really de-materialize the poster and other things contained in her body. She pinged with her radar to make sure no human or God-Eater was around. She jumped after she confirmed there was no one and reached the height of the wall. Then she slid down from the wall to make sure she did not cause any commotion. Then with help of glue she pasted the poster on the wall. She hadn't forgotten to bring the tables as well. Even though they were not in perfect condition, it was still very sturdy piece of ware. All that left was preparing some refreshments.
"THIS IS AMAZING!"
Kota exclaimed as he zipped around her home like a kid with sugar rush after she introduced his to a room full of the merchandise after refreshment(sodas). He had certainly grown a lot and still hadn't lost his bright personality. Nova laughed a bit as the sight of Kota reminded her of a Shiba Inu dog. Really, his orange hair and yellow outfit was quite eye catching. Nova said to the over-excited Kota.
"The posters and the figurines aren't going anywhere Kota. Though I must say, the sight of you walking like a zombie to my place is quite the contrast. Did Aragami hurt you?"
"Pftt..."
Kota just huffed in annoyance.
"Puleeeaseee... Nah, going out hunting with Sakuya wasn't that bad..."
Kota got a dreamy look on his eyes. Nova could hear him speaking things like 'is she single?'. That 'puppy like crush' enforced the image of Shiba Inu in her eyes. She giggled a bit before pinching Kota who yelped in response.
"Yeowch! Oh yeah, it was after the mission that me and my friend got a class in with Dr. Sakaki. It was there that he explained the... parts of Oracle cell or something? I am not sure but it sure did left me drained to hear all that."
He looked mentally exhausted before going back to his usual self.
"Can I borrow some of the "Bugurally" CD's please? I promise I will bring them back! Sucks that I can't stay over at my home and have to stay within the 'Den'. But I promise to really really bring them back in good condition."
He even gave a thumbs up with his grin that seemed to twinkle. Well, he was even more hyper-active than his past-self. Well it didn't cost her any Fenrir Credit so she just shrugged it off.
"Sure."
Kota did a yipee before he looked at her and sighed in relief.
"Hm? What is it?"
Kota just looked at her before replying in a somber way.
"Aunt Nova. You look well and fine just like the last time. It's just... just... that seeing you still alive and well, it took a load off my chest. I hadn't seen you for so long that I thought... you... know... the Aragami..."
It was so ironic that he cared for her, someone so strong that she could very well destroy or reset the world. It was a cute gesture and the image of a sad Shiba Inu just overlapped him.
"Awwww..."
Nova just patted his head while smiling. Kota blushed and sputtered a bit in embarrassment as he tried to push her hand away.
"He..y...!"
Nova just giggled even harder. After giving him some of the CD's, she bid him farewell as he decided to visit his mom and Nozomi before retiring to the Den. Nova felt like it was worth it. Kota's happy personality rubbed on her. But before she could go on another anime binge-spree her phone rang. She looked at the number ID.
Amor
Nova answered.
"Yes?"
Then a suave voice answered from another side of the call.
"Sister Serenity has found what you had ordered, I am patching her through."
Then came the video request. It was still a new feature. The old satellite above did have some uses, personally made by her children. Nova just helped in transporting the device into space. Now she could talk with her 12 children in some part of the globe. Not an improvement but still useful nonetheless. Nova could see the person in the small screen. It was Serenity. Her facial feature matched with Sorrow but she looked a little older and her hair was roughed up. That child was responsible for recon and such and was a good tracker overall. She looked at Nova and replied in a calm voice.
"I have found what you asked for mother."
"You did not come close to it, did you?"
Nova sighed in relief when she saw Serenity shook her head. Nova composed herself before asking.
"How did you find it?"
Serenity explained.
"Most of the data was wiped off when the internet crashed during the catastrophe. So after years of searching through Old world Libraries, or what was left of it. Cross-referencing many books and maps, I found a piece of information and headed as soon as I could. After I arrived I found the absence of Aragami quite strange. Using my eyes I peered through the waters and found it."
"Where it is?"
Serenity looked at her, no doubt seeing the urgency in Nova's face.
"Gulf of Mexico or it is more likely at the bottom of the Chicxulub crater."
Nova started hyperventilating. She did not know, but when she heard the name of the place, a jolt passed through her. Her curiosity peaked and could be barely held back. It was a new feeling, she shivered as her body began to tremble. The Oracle cells within her began to shake before she calmed it all out.
She always did want to know how she came to be.
From her time learning about herself, she began to understand the world itself. Every time the mass extinction happened in the world, it was due to the her, or more likely the Aragami side of her. It has happened alltogether many times. This many mass extinction level event 'reset' the world as new order of species began to thrive. However, there wasn't a case like hers, where a sentient being became a trigger for the Extinction level event or some conspiracy theorists call it the "Nova Devouring Apocalypse". Har har it used to be called Something-Devouring Apocalypse before Amor petitioned a change for the name.
But like Nova said, something happened during the last extinction period. She felt like whatever it was at the bottom of the crater, there lied the answer to her question. She looked at Serenity and said.
"Secure the perimeter. I want no one, absolutely no one to come near it. Even you for I fear something will happen to you."
Serenity just nodded.
"I will be coming there exactly tomorrow!"
Thank you for reading!
