The smell of partially burned toast filled the apartment as sun casted through the drapery. Mello paced back and forth through the kitchen, hardly paying attention at the burning bread.

A loud and intrusive knock echoed through the apartment. Mello gruffly called from the kitchen. "Who the hell is police knocking this damned early?! Matty! Can you get that? Hey, now that you're up, have you heard anything from Light?" Mello paced slightly while whipping eggs and muttered to himself. "I know I haven't…"

Matt rounded the corner from the bedroom and tiredly opened the door. The red head's breath caught and he could feel the pit of his stomach hit his toes; before slowly backing away from the door. An irritated scarlet gaze landed on the exhausted occupant. Matt helplessly dropped himself on the couch as the ravened chef stepped into the apartment, with a timid brunette not far behind him; causing Mello to gasp from the kitchen. "Light! Oh thank god! We spent the better half of this morning searching for you! You never answered your phone! By the time we found you phone…" The blonde's voice trailed when Light glanced away from him and hurried towards his bedroom.

Beyond's gaze pierced through both boys. "Sit." His voice was low, angry and commanding. Both tired men tried to explain their side of the story before quickly getting cut off with a firm question. "Do you know what Rohypnol is?"

Matt looked down dejectedly. "Date rape."

Inspecting their apartment, that he had never been in prior, the chef sighed. "I watched him get drugged and dragged away. And where were you? Hmm? Either of you. If I didn't happen to be there, he could be dead somewhere in a gutter!" His tone was beginning to pick up with intensity before falling calmly. "Light is coming to stay with me until you two can get your shit together!"

Mello stood up at dizzying speeds with a flustered expression. "Absolutely not! You can't remain objective if he does!"

Turning to meet an icy stare, fierce embers glowered with intensity. "He is my stage. I will do what I want with him. He will at least be safe with me! You guys, I'm not so sure about anymore."

The blonde puffed his cheeks out in anger. "You left for two weeks! What were we supposed to think?! Your kitchen is in shambles, your staff is beat down! You abandoned us! You think I'm going to just trust you after that?!"

The ravened chef sighed as a timid hand was placed on his shoulder. Beyond's resolve seemed to waiver at the brunette's silent request. "All the more reason for me to come back." The raven followed the youngest brunette towards the door. "See you Monday, Mihael."

The door shut behind the couple, as Matt stood. "Let them go. You got what you wanted, Light is safe, chef is coming back… Everything else will fall into place. Let's just hope chef is a better caliber than your run of the mill scumbag."

Mello let out a long sigh as he watched Light get on the back of the motorbike while Beyond strapped the helmet to him. "That's just it. I bet Light traded. He'd come stay with him where Beyond could keep an eye on him in exchange for him coming back to the kitchen. He's a weird kid like that."

Beyond sighed loudly as Light sat at a small iron table painted white. Scents of baked goods and warm coffees and teas wafted out into the street. Light eyed the chef as the started to walk into the bakery. "Beyond?" He could feel his heart flutter when a set of smoldering scarlet irises landed on him. "Thank you, for not hurting them."

In an attempt to be humorous, the raven smirked and winked. "Anything for you." Upon realization of how cloying that came out, Beyond blushed and ducked into the bakery to order their breakfast.

Feeling his cheeks begin the heat up, Light shook his head to dismiss budding thoughts. 'Stop it. He didn't mean it like THAT. He does not have a crush on you. You're his stage, you heard Mello: He's staying objective, to mean it in a flirting fashion would NOT be objective.' The brunette's musings were quickly halted when a coffee and slice of apple bread was set in front of him. Only to have new musings chase his mind. A bashful smile came from the ravened chef as he sat across from Light. 'Ooooorrrr, maybe he does…'

"Where did you go for two weeks, chef?" Light scented his coffee and smiled before taking a sip.

"Please, don't call me chef when we aren't at work. Just call me B." Swirling his coffee around in the cup Beyond sighed out before answering. "I went to see my mentor. He told me sometimes it's best to just step back. But. I've been watching. And, from what I've seen; I'm proud of you. You're doing damned well, considering the shit jobs she's given you over the last week." Light opened his mouth to answer before being cut off by Beyond sighing out. "Fuck. It's my ex."

Light glanced into a crowd of people, not spotting the approaching party. "Quickly. Answer me these: are you gay, are you single, how long ago, do you want to make them suffer?"

Shifting crimson eyes towards his quickly approaching ex lover. "Yes, yes, 6 months… and yes?" Blinking his eyes rapidly at the devious smirk that came across the brunette's plush lips. "What did I just agree to?"

Leaning in the brunette smirked deviously while licking his lower lip. "You have probably the sexiest eyes I have ever seen on anyone else." The younger man gently nibbled his lip as he curled his pinky around the pinky of the opposing man's hand that was resting on the table. "Follow my lead." Honey hued orbs flicked to the arriving male. Tickled at the fact that Beyond's attention did not waiver from himself. 'Oh. He's easy to distract. Note to self.' Light internally snickered.

A tall slender man with sandy blonde hair and sapphire eyes, waved his hand in front of Beyond. "Hello?" Light winked at the raven in almost slow motion, causing the other to swallow coarsely.

Beyond shook his head quickly and pulled his hand back. "Sorry Alex. What were you saying? How long have you been there? Sorry."

Alex shifted his weight over to his right hip while eyeing Light up. "Um. Guess you moved on then?"

Following the jealous ex lover's stare his eyes landed on the young attractive brunette. "Um. I know you didn't just ask if I moved on, nonetheless, walk over here to do so. What did you need?" His phone vibrated, turning it over it displayed a text from Light. 'Any details you're willing to share?'

Quickly texting back with one hand the raven kept one ear open to listen to the joined party. 'Cheated on me. Left. We'll talk about it later.' Light glanced at his phone before smirking more. "Um. You're kind of ruining our date. What do you want?"

Alex glanced at Beyond's bike, which was loaded with a couple of small bags of Light's clothing. "So he's moving in? What the fuck?"

Beyond cleared his throat. "Yes. He is. Alex, what do you need? Please tell me this isn't the closure you've been waiting for."

Alex grinned wickedly. "Oh. Hell no. First of all, sweetie," his stare landed directly on Light, "hope you enjoy being home alone." Shifting his weight to his left hip and glaring at Beyond. "What could he possibly have that I don't? I bet you don't come home to him either."

Cleaning his throat, the brunette smiled after taking a long drink of coffee. "Every night, it's why I'm moving in. What do I have that you didn't? I'm a power bottom, hunny, what were you? Like fucking a dead body? Did you just lay there, he's yet to be bored of me, isn't that right, daddy?" Light caressed Beyond's paralyzed fingers. In a small moment of panic Light worried if that was too strong. The raven seemed lost to him.

A small amount of pressure squeezed Light's hand, his honeyed stare landed on a darkened smirk from Beyond. "I told you not to call me that in public. You know what it does to me." Light could feel the pit of his stomach heat up when the raven bit his lower lip.

"Uuughhh! You guys are gross! Never would have pegged you for a daddy kink! I WAS going to invite you to my birthday party tonight! But you guys are gross!" Alex stormed off while scoffing with his small group of friends, leaving Beyond and Light to stare at each other awkwardly yet passionately.

"Just hold my hand a little longer, B. Wouldn't want that whole act to conclude to getting caught at the end. I was worried I lost you there for a minute, thought I came in too strong. But, I have to agree with him, never would have pegged you for a daddy kink." Light let out a nervous chuckle.

Beyond recoiled his hand and snagged his coffee cup during the retreat. "I wouldn't have pegged myself for that either." Sitting in uncomfortable silence for a few more minutes, Light sighed happily before Beyond asked. "How often do you do that kind of stuff?"

The brunette chuckled. "Honestly, that was my first time doing anything that bold!" Amber hued orbs met a still hungry scarlet gaze. "I – ah, I haven't even lost my virginity yet. Nonetheless anything else!"

Raising his brow in both interest and confusion the elder male chuckled. "Maybe warn a guy next time then, I don't have the best track record for self control. Did you mean it? What you said about my eyes?"

Light sighed slightly. "Yes. But, I only said it because it's a warm up, you find something true about the person you're going to scene act with, something that aligns with the emotion of the scene. And… well, I've been staring at your eyes since I first saw you. They're beautiful rubies streaked with maroon." Subconsciously, Light leaned in towards the middle of the table as he spoke.

Breaking eye contact the raven smirked, "I've been admiring yours as well."

Rolling his amber eyes, Light chuckled, "They're just boring brown."

Beyond leaned in closer towards the middle of the table, gently reaching his hand upwards towards Light's face. "No, they're golden pools of honey with flecks of copper and gold dancing within a casing of sage. They… are not boring." Light shuddered slightly when a gentle caress of fingertips touched his cheekbone.

The brunette jumped slightly when the chef grabbed his helmet while sweeping to stand up keeping his back turned. "We, uh, need to make sure something like that doesn't happen again. So, let's get you to my apartment and get you settled in. And, probably, properly, avoid each other for the rest of the day."
