My first Laxus x Juvia/LaVia drabble/ONE-SHOT. Nothing big.. I just wish there was enough love for this ship, so I'll add my part I guess... lol... XD Also, WARNINGS and Disclaimers: If you don't fancy this ship, don't hurt your eyes. Keep it moving. :) &&&... Have a blessed day. :) There's also hints of depression, death, the S word, and Anguish, for those sensitive to any of this. I don't want to trigger anyone. :( So CAUTION wisely. With all that being said, this is probably set in another AU. The italics will be both individuals POVs. Enjoy.
The News is Depressing
The day was rainy. Flash flood warnings were on devices alerting many in the city. Laxus just got out from his meeting with his grandfather and the companies employees. It was stuffy in that meeting room and Laxus was relieved to be out of there. The rain pouring on him was a huge relief. It was much needed. Unlike many, he didn't mind it. It was beautiful and relaxing. It left the outdoors for the most part empty, where he could enjoy his solitude for a bit. He didn't mind his usual inner circle, but once in awhile he needed his break away. Freed, Evergreen, and Bickslow understood where he was coming from.
Laxus continued his walk in the rain, when he noticed a girl off to the distance. Standing by a pretty secluded bridge, with a river running under it. Laxus approached the figure. Hoping the fog was playing tricks on him.
Unfortunately, his eyes weren't deceiving him. It was a figure he recognized well. It was Juvia Lockser... One of his co-workers. A flashback played in Laxus head briefly of Juvia crying over a casket. In a funeral that happened about a year ago. The news shocked everyone, especially her... Laxus knew how deteriorating it was for Juvia this year. A few run-ins with her proved how much Gray's death took its toll on her and Laxus remembered how his grandfather was hesitant to give Juvia some time off. Not because his grandfather wanted to be a jerk and make Juvia work, but because he really was concerned for her sanity. She lived alone and Laxus knew his grandfather didn't want to have Juvia doing something hurtful towards herself.
Laxus quickly retreated from his flashback, as he sprinted forward, catching Juvia off guard. Laxus saw her attempt to try to end it for herself, but his reflexes were faster than Juvia's step forward to the edge of that stone bridge.
Laxus held Juvia tight, for what seemed like forever, as he could clearly hear her muttering something against his broad chest. It was muffled, but he understood her pleas. She wanted him to let go, and let her finish off her depression. Laxus wasn't having any of it.
"You think I'm going to comply with you just leaving this earth in the most horrific way? Right in front of me? If that's the case, you sure got that twisted." Laxus barked.
Feeling Juvia stiffen in his embrace. He knew he had won this short argument for now...
"Juvia is sorry. Juvia did not mean to be selfish towards Laxus... It's just that Juvia misses Gray. Juvia can't see the sun in her life any more." Juvia stated, further burying her face into Laxus's chest, letting out a cry that Laxus knew would break out at any moment.
"Come on Juvia. Let's go to my place. I won't leave you alone." Laxus tugged at her arm, getting her to walk silently back to his place, as the rain began to pour harder on them, as they walked together side by side.
"Thank you Laxus..." Juvia whispered, biting back the pain she continue to feel in her heart.
Back in Laxus's place, he along with Juvia slipped off of their wet shoes and clothing. It was not the first time they have done so in front of each other. Laxus has been a comfort to Juvia during this tough year. He'd walk in the rain for personal relaxation and he would always come across her either walking out in the rain, or sitting by a park near by his home, just starring at that very same bridge she just tried to jump off from. He wasn't the jerk he use to be back then, and often found himself silently helping the gloomy girl. No one knew to his knowledge, but something told him his grandfather knew what he was up too and silently was grateful to him for reaching out to help a college, and friend in need... Juvia in the past has refused many suggestions to seek help. She was losing her will to go on, and she often found herself bickering with Laxus of all people.
I know she's hurting. I know, but if arguing, bickering, and on rare times challenging her keeps her alive. I'm okay with that... I'm okay with annoying her. I'm okay with being that jerk she can turn to. I'm okay with helping her find purpose again...
Laxus quickly dismissed any of the weird feelings he'd feel in his stomach when around her.
Before losing Gray, Juvia had helped Laxus many times in the past to get over his own personal problems. Laxus kept telling himself that, despite his slowly growing feelings for the blunette.
"Here." Laxus reached out to Juvia, giving her a towel to dry off with.
Juvia hesitantly took it. Releasing the tension in her shoulders. Letting them slope down.
"Thank you Laxus. Juvia appreciates it..." Juvia whispered sadly.
"If you appreciate it, please don't pull a stunt like that again..." Laxus growled back.
Making Juvia slightly smile, she nodded in agreement. "Thank you..."
"And stop thanking me already! Show me, don't just say it over and over again." Laxus barked back, drying himself off as well.
Juvia smiled again, sighing silently, taking a seat on his couch, looking out the window. Hearing the rumbling in the skies, lighting soon pierced the heavens above. Feeling a sudden warmth from within herself. She loved how lighting could brighten the dark, rolling clouds above. "Just as beautiful as the sun..." Juvia thought to herself.
Juvia is truly lucky... Truly lucky to have a guy like Laxus around. To boss her back into taking it day by day. He doesn't leave Juvia alone. Juvia needs to stop pushing him away... And get help, so that Juvia can move on. Gray would want that...
"I ordered take-out. Want to watch a movie?" Laxus asked.
"Yes! Juvia would love that" She smiled, making Laxus slightly smile at her sudden enthusiasm.
"Alright then." Laxus continued to smile.
End.
