Julia Jenkins, Private Investigator, chased the Under Fae through the dark tunnels with a flashlight in one hand and a blade in the other.
The Under Fae splashed through the tunnels kicking up dirt which caused Julia to cough and wipe her eyes in her pursuit. Julia had been chasing the Under Fae for quite some time inside the tunnels being drawn deeper and deeper into the bowels of the city, but was determined to catch him. This particular Under Fae Julia deduced to be a Selkie who failed their Dawning Ceremony. The features on the contorted face of the Under Fae's face dripped as if molted.
"Chase me, human!" he taunted.
Julia ignored the taunting as she forged ahead. She was hired to recover an ancient Fae relic stolen from a local collector of Fae antiquities. She kicked herself for it because her client was determined the relic be recovered, but the Under Fae that Julia chased got there first and was now on the run with it.
The Under Fae turned a corner, and Julia was about fifty feet behind. It might as well been a thousand feet as the depths of the tunnels got deeper, darker and creepier. But Julia had seen worse, been through worse. The Under Fae turned yet another corner. Julia thought if she ever found her way out of this maze of tunnels it would be a miracle. The walls felt slimy and the smells nearly choked her.
Finally the Under Fae stopped at a slightly open area, turned around, and faced Julia.
Julie stopped about fifteen feet away from him and said, "Hey buddy, you can do us all a favor and give me that relic."
The Under Fae laughed. "Should have moved a little faster!"
"Well, in any event. You can either hand it over or I can force you to hand it over."
"You have no idea what is coming!"
"Do I need to care?"
The Under Fae smiled with what could pass for a smile on his face, reached into his pocket, gripped a small object in his left hand, and pressed downward. The surrounding area began to displace itself. He stepped back into the displacement and said as he went along "Yes, you will!" and disappeared into the displacement.
Julia's eyes went wide. She ran forward waving at the air to see if she could feel the displacement. Nothing.
Julia collapsed onto the ground and just stared at the nothingness in which the Under Fae had disappeared. She pulled out her phone to check for signal. Nothing. Of course, she was too deep inside of the tunnels. She then picked herself up and headed back towards the opening.
Once she reached the outside she dialed a number and when it picked up she said "Hey Kenz! It's Julia. We have a problem."
