Lucy POV
My legs wouldn't move.
I tried to will them to carry me back into the bar and back to Salamanders side, but I was frozen in place. I felt helpless as I watched a familiar woman walk out of the shadows that decorated the side of the building. She took her time walking toward me, and I could do nothing but stair.
"Ya know," she spat as she made her way toward me. "I really considered you as a friend. But just like everyone else, you left."
"Miner-"
The slim, black haired woman before me pushed a finger to my mouth and hushed me. "Shhhh..," she hissed in my face. "Let me talk first."
Her finger, which was cold from the winter weather, still was pressed firmly to my lips. She finally moved it away after I nodded.
The finger she used to hush me now was tapping on her pointy chin as she seemed to be choosing her wording. Her words came out quiet and calm, "...you left. You left me, Yukino, the whole gang... to deal with Sting ourselves."
"I'm sor-"
Her arm moved so quickly it was a blur, her fist flying into my bridge of my nose. I felt the crunch of my bone as it broke and instinctively my hand shot up to grab hold of the crooked mess she made.
"Shut the fuck up, will you," Minerva muttered as she shook her hand around, to ease the pain of punching me I'm sure.
I felt the warmth of fresh blood as it started to run between my fingers and down my arm, quickly cooling because of the cold winter air. Of course, I left my coat in the bar with Salamander.
Please Natsu come out here, I need you to save me again. I willed him to come to me in my mind. But after that display inside, I doubt he'll be out here in time.
Minerva tsked to herself as she examined her knuckles. I fallowed her eyes and looked too, only to see that the first two knuckles were quickly turning red. Maybe from my blood, maybe from the impact? I didn't really care either way. "I always swing weird," she said to herself as she wiped the back of her hand on her black jacket. Some of the blood smeared onto her beautiful and elegant blue dress, but she didn't seem to notice.
Her attention was once again focused on me. "Can you imagine how Sting's been actin' since you left? It's utterhell!" Minerva's voice shook when she spoke now. "He-he.. blames all of us, especially Rogue." She stopped for a second, her glare leaving mine while she looked like she was attempting to calm herself down. It didn't seem to work, I jumped out of my skin when her loud voice cut through the air, "It wasn't my fault! Why the fuck does he blame me?"
Her eyes rolled back to lock back on me and she sneered, "And it's all... your... fault."
This time her leg came up and her foot knocked right into my stomach, pushing the air from my lungs and throwing me on the ground. The tears that threatened to fall when my nose broke started to rush down my face and I cried out, "Natsu!"
She pushed a heel onto my throat and laughed, "Make another noise and you're dead, got it?"
I closed my eyes and nodded my head, my hands fumbling around me to grab hold of her boot and push it away. Legs are always stronger than arms though, and the more I pushed it off of me, the harder the heel pushed into my wind pipe. I was terrified, there was once again nothing I could do.
"I should kill you right now." She pushed harder, making a squeak escape out of my throat. I was starting to panic, adrenaline was pumping through my body. My hands started to shake and a million different things started to flow through my head.
The first thing that I thought of was some way to get out of this, there weren't many things I could do though-unfortunately...
Also I was thinking of what Salamander was doing, he needs to come out here. He had to have heard me. There's no way the people inside the bar didn't hear me.
"Get the hell away from Lucy," Another female voice called from behind Minerva.
Relief flooded through me but it was quickly gone when Minerva pushed harder and yelled, "Stay back or she's dead."
The next few seconds seemed to go in slow motion. I could feel the sharp heel starting to pierce through my skin, blood started to trickle down my cleavage. Then, a loud bang sounded.
At the same time the gunshot sound sliced the air, Minerva lifted her foot slightly like she was about to stomp on me, but her foot never touched me again. Her limp body fell slightly on me, slightly on the cold pavement with a loud thud.
She had a bullet hole through her head, blood splattered all over me-covering my face, hair and arms. Not to mention the ground around me.
Then life seemed to go back to normal speed, I heard the pounding of footsteps coming toward me and Minerva was heaved off of me. Then a hand shot out and grabbed hold of me, pulling me up until I was face to face with the stubbly face of Gildarts.
He asked, "Are you alright?"
But I didn't register his voice, I pushed him away and fell to my knees next to Minerva who was face down on the grimy New York City ground. She was my friend, she doesn't deserve this. "What... what did you do?!" I screamed. Tears once again started to stream down my face, mixing with dirt and dried blood, probably making me look like death.
But I'm not the one that's dead. I'm still sucking in air while Minerva just breathed her last breath.
"Lucy," Erza's distant voice called to me.
I felt a hand touch my shoulder and I shimmied away from it. I screeched. I didn't even say a coherent word, just throat numbing screams. I pushed my face into Minerva's cold shoulder and cried loudly into it, my whole body rocking with each sob.
They didn't need to do this! Fuck whoever shot her, fuck fairy tail!
Salamander must have heard me, because the next thing I knew I felt strong arms wrap around me from behind while his familiar voice asked, "Wha's goin' on here?"
"L-let.. go." I weakly whined.
Salamander squeezed me tighter in response and listened to Erza as she explained, "That Saber Bitch was trying to kill Lucy. I warned her to back off but she didn't-so we put her down."
"Actually, I put her down Natsu." Gildarts spoke up for the first time since I pushed him away. "Don't blame Erza for my trigger happy habit."
I felt Salamander shake his head as he muttered into my bare shoulder, "No, you both did good." Then he started to attempt to pull me off of Minerva's dead body. "Luce, let's go."
I shook my head and held onto the soft cloth of Minerva's jacket.
Sirens played in the distance and Erza growled, "5-O comin' our way, let's go."
"Lucy come on!" Salamander sneered as he used all of his strength to peel me away from my fallen friend. He hauled me away, my feet were kicking out and I was wiggling in his grasp. He had none of that, I was soon lifted off of the ground and held princess style as they ran from the scene and away from the lifeless body of my dead friend.
Natsu POV
Damn, I'm already sobering up. It's been a few hours since we got back from the bar.
Today was one hell of a day. Er, I mean yesterday. Since It's already 3:30 in the morning. It felt like it dragged on for way too long.
I closed my eyes but all I could see was the sad face of Lucy as she silently grieved. She chewed on her bottom lip, she blinked away tears, and as soon as we got back to the apartment she ran into her apartment and locked me out. Erza tried to get her to talk to us but she ignored every attempt. I could get in if I really wanted to but I wanted to give her space. She at least needed that right now.
Happy jumped up next to me on the couch and meowed in my face, begging to be pet. He's grown alot recently, he was almost the size of a full grown cat.
I started to pat his head, but I looked away from his demanding eyes and stared at the blank wall. I can't sleep, and I was quickly sobering up so it was now or never.
So I sat up and walked over to the kitchen. I opened a drawer and pulled out a notepad and pen and wrote on it 'next door come knock when you wake up'
Then I was off. Once again I was going to disturb Lucy when she was at her lowest point. I don't know why, but I just really wanted to see her. And maybe she'll open up to me again.
I smiled at the thought, even if it's sad things she talked about-it still made me happy knowing she was able to talk to me in this way.
I grabbed the keys on the dining room table(one key for my apartment and the other for hers) and stumbled my way out of my apartment. I silently closed the door and tried to walk quietly over to her apartment.
After unlocking the door, I opened it a crack and whispered, "Lucy, I'm coming in."
I didn't receive an answer, so I just pushed my way into the apartment and walked around for a minute. I couldn't find her in the livingroom, kitchen, or the bathroom.
So that left her room. I was hesitant to walk right into her room without an invitation.
Hey, I know I'm a bad guy, but that was just common courtesy. Gildarts taught me to always respect a woman's privacy in her own home.
"Lucy," I whispered again, through the door.
I didn't hear anything so I decided to open the door and I took a peak around. It looked like she was in bed.
She wasn't visible in the dark, but I could see a small lump on the mattress that just had to be her. A smile crept its way onto my face as I watched the lump slightly move with each sigh of a breath she made.
Then she whimpered. Once again, much like that horrid night I had to bring her to the hospital, I found myself rushing to the bed. I didn't hesitate this time when I sat down next to her, causing the bed to move slightly, making her stir. I felt my way around and gently caressed her face, pushing her blonde hair out of her face. Her forehead was damp with sweat causing the hair to stick. She also still had dried blood all over her face and hair, I could feel it with each stroke of my fingers through her hair.
"Mmmm," Lucy instantly purred upon contact. She visibly relaxed and moved into my touch.
So I got a brilliant idea.
I moved my hand from her face and grabbed the hem of my shirt, it took only a second to pull it up and over my head. Then I grabbed the corner of the thick comforter and slid my body under it. It was already super warm, her body was like a heater.
I laid down next to her, my head falling on the pillow she was using and pulled her toward me. I quickly slid an arm under the pillow then wrapped my other arm around her, holding her body tightly against mine.
This felt perfect. I've slept with many woman, but never this intimately-including my time with Lisanna. Yes we'd share a bed but never did I feel this comfortable. Her head fit snugly between my shoulder and neck, my head was slightly on hers and our legs intertwined.
Unconsciously she moved closer to me, her arm wrapping around my body, her hand resting lightly on my back. Lucy's nails slightly dug into my back and she groaned, "Hmm?"
I lifted my head and looked down at her just in time to see her eyes open slightly. Her eyes met mine for a brief second and I lost my breath. I was so scared in that split second that she was going to freak out on me, start screaming, and kick me out. Lucy looked so lost.
But then a small, lazy smile tugged at her lips. "What're you doing here, Salamander?"
I grinned in turn and moved my hand up her back and into her blonde locks. I slowly descended down to her face and whispered, "Start calling me Natsu, Luce," before I let my lips lightly brush against hers.
She hummed and smiled against my lips before I pulled away. Then she withdrew her arm and turned her back to me.
Once again I found myself pulling her close to me. Drowsiness was finally sweeping over me, I felt so relaxed when I draped my arm around her. My hand sneaked under her thin tank top and it began to pet circles around her stomach and I finally let myself think; What if...
I didn't feel the normal tinge of agitation when a lone tear trailed down my face. I didn't try to stop it, I actually welcomed this feeling. I knew I was upset about what happened with Lucy and the baby, you'd have to be made of stone to not be. But I never once let any other emotion besides anger out about it.
I buried my face into Lucy's hair and took in her sweet smell. Even after everything that happened yesterday, Lucy still smelled like perfume. Like vanilla.
Sleep was creeping it's way onto me as I let out a faint, "I think I've.. fallen for you, Luce."
That ending made me smile so much, omg
It was just too kawaii
Okay so I'm sorry if this was total crap guys, I got 8 hours of sleep within the last two days and I'm absolutely beat.
