Episode 80: Dope Is For Dopes

CHAPTER 1: SWEET MUSIC

Over at Schroeder's place in his garage because he had a heated garage, he and Charlie Brown's new band, the CB's were rehearsing for Violet's upcoming New Year's party that was coming up in over a month. The band lineup was as follows: Charlie Brown on guitar and band leader, Frieda on lead vocals, Schroeder on keyboards and band director, Matt on drums, Dolores on bass, Franklin on percussion, Lucy on background vocals and occasional lead vocals, Marcie on organ, and Snoopy on various instruments and band mascot. Linus would serve as their manager. This particular day they were going over some songs that they would do at the party. Schroeder also served as the band's primary songwriter, and Frieda, Charlie Brown, and Lucy would write lyrics. They were becoming pretty good and all their friends were impressed by their sound.

As they continued to rehearse, a brunette teen walked into Schroeder's garage and watched as they rehearsed. Schroeder immediately saw the newcomer and stopped the playing.

"Whoa, Schroeder, we had a good groove going on," said Franklin.

"Yeah, what's going on, babe?" asked Lucy.

"Who is this new girl that just came in?" asked Schroeder.

"I'm sorry, Schroeder," said Frieda. "I invited her over. Everyone, this is my new friend, Carla. She just started going to school. Carla, these are my friends. You know my baby, Charlie Brown and his dog Snoopy, this is Schroeder. This is his house. His girlfriend Lucy, her brother Linus, who's also our manager, Franklin, his girlfriend Marcie, Matt, and Dolores."

"How do you do, Carla?" asked Lucy, shaking her hand.

"I'm good," said Carla. "Your band sounds nice, Charles."

"Thanks, Carla," said Charlie Brown. "We've been rehearsing for Violet's upcoming New Year's party, as we're the entertainment."

"Excuse me for asking, but you know how to sing, too?" asked Schroeder.

"Sorry, but I'm a pretty lousy singer," Carla replied. "Unless you don't mind someone who sounds like a cat screeching, you don't want to hear me sing." Snoopy immediately went "Bleah!" when the word "cat" was mentioned.

"As a dog, Snoopy doesn't like cats," said Charlie Brown. "He only tolerates Frieda's cat Faron because we're dating. Otherwise forget it."

"Amen!' said Snoopy through his thoughts.

"So you really think we sound good, Carla?" asked Marcie.

"Definitely!" Carla answered. "You almost sound professional."

"That's thanks to my baby's superb songwriting skills," said Lucy, hugging Schroeder. "Frieda, Charlie Brown, and myself also help out with the lyrics."

"Well you are welcome to stay and watch us rehearse some more, if you like," offered Schroeder. "Maybe you can see how we do with some of these songs."

"I'd love to," said a happy Carla. And she sat down in a chair and watched as her new friends rehearsed for Violet's upcoming party. While they played, she looked in her purse and looked at a baggie of some white substance. She kept it hidden from sight so that they wouldn't see it.
