We see Duncan on an overbed table being wheeled to an unknown location inside an unknown location. He sees the Recruiter looming above him.

"Mr. Wilson," he said, quite sinisterly. "Nothing warms my heart more than a change of someone else's. You finally hit 'fuck it.'"

"Just promise you'll do right by me," Duncan said. "So I can do right by someone else." His tone is filled with regret.

"Of course." The Recruiter nods to the individuals and they continue wheeling Duncan down a hallway.

"And please don't make the super-suit green," He yelled back at the Recruiter. "Or animated."

We see the two individuals wheel Duncan into a laboratory of sorts. He looks around and sees doctors operating on people. But these weren't ordinary people. These people were mutants. And a lot of them looked like they'd seen better days. Duncan was clearly disturbed.

"This place seems sanitary," he said. The two goons, whose name tags read, 'Chet and Lorenzo', then lift him up… "My first request is warmer hands." And set him down onto a bed. "And a warmer table." Chet and Lorenzo begin strapping him down. "We should really come up with a safe word, fellas. I'm thinking 'jawbreaker.' The two then proceed to leave.

A female then approaches the bed and holds Duncan's head down while putting a strap around his neck. "Hey, hey, easy, lady." The female had black hair and fair skin. She was wearing a black leather shirt, black leggings, and magenta heels. Duncan seemed surprised by the female's strength. "Aren't you a little strong for a lady? I'm calling wang." He notices she has a match in her mouth. "What's up with the matches? Oral fixation or just a big Stallone fan?" The female puts her hand for Duncan's mouth to shut him up. A man then begins approaching. Hint: It's Al. But Duncan doesn't know that's his real name… yet.

"Patience, Angel," he said. She begrudgingly took her hand off Duncan's mouth. "All in good time."

"Are you here for the turndown service, or what?" Duncan asked.

"We have another talker," Ajax said to Angel.

"I'm just excited about my first day at superhero camp."

"Shut the fuck up," Angel said as she put a gag over Duncan's mouth.

Ajax then shines a flashlight into Duncan's eyes. "Mr. Wilson, my name is Ajax. I manage this workshop. Ah, my welcome speech used to be full of euphemisms like, 'This may hurt a little. This may cause you some discomfort.' But I'm going to be blunt. This workshop is not a government-led program. It's a private institution that turns reclamation projects like yourself into men of extraordinary abilities. But if you think super-human powers are acquired painlessly… Wrong." Duncan doesn't like where this is going. Ajax places a needle into Duncan's blood vein, much to Duncan's pain. "I'm injecting you with a serum that activates any mutant genes lurking in your DNA. For it to work, we need to subject you to extreme stress." Ajax turns on a machine and the serum begins entering Duncan's bloodstream, much to Duncan's discomfort and distress. "You've heard that whole 'make an omelet, break some eggs' bit, right? I'm about to hurt you, Duncan. I was a patient here once myself, you know. The treatment affects everyone differently." Ajax begins adding another serum. "It made Angel inhumanly strong. In my case, it enhanced my reflexes. Also scorched my nerve endings, so I no longer feel pain." Pauses for a moment. "And, in fact, I no longer feel anything." His face is emotionless. Duncan begins saying something, but you can't understand it to the gag over his mouth.

Ajax nods his head at Angel, who removes the gag from Duncan's mouth. "Thanks! Thank you. Thank you." He turns towards Ajax. "You have something in your teeth. Right in the middle there. Just, I don't… a little nugget of romaine lettuce or something." Ajax begins checking his teeth in a mirror and sees… nothing. Duncan begins laughing. "Ah, made you look. Hey, is Ajax your actual name? Because it sounds suspiciously made up. What is it really? Nicolás? José? Cole? Juan? Diego?" Begins speaking with a Latino accent. "Is it Francisco Franco?"

"Joke all you want," Ajax said. "One thing that never survives this place is a sense of humor."

"We'll see about that."

"I suppose we will." He turns towards Angel. "He's all yours." He walks away.

"Oh, come on. You're gonna leave me all alone here with less-angry Rosie O'Donnell?"

Angel then punches Duncan in the face, causing blood to spatter all over.

We then get a montage of all the treatments Duncan's put through while 'Mr. Sandman' by The Chordettes begins playing in the background.

"This is how it's going to work," Ajax said through voiceover. "Adrenaline acts as a catalyst for the serum so we're going to have to make you suffer." We see Duncan hung up by the hands by chains as Angel punches him, repeatedly. We then see him naked in a cage being blasted with cold water from a power hose. "If you're lucky, the mutant genes will activate and manifest in a spectacular fashion." We then see Angel dunk Duncan's head into a vat of some sort of goopy substance before pulling him out, causing him to gasp for air. "If not, well, we'll have to keep on hurting you…" We then see Ajax and a goon, whose name tag reads, 'Sam', opening the crate Duncan's in, while we see him barely breathing due to being in frigid cold ice water. "In new and different ways, each more painful than the last." Ajax, seeing that Duncan's still alive, signals the goon to close the crate. We then see Duncan with a bag over his head, handcuffed to a metal grate, while suffering extreme voltage. "Until you finally mutate… or die." Angel looks and sees Duncan's still alive, miraculously.

We then see Duncan on a bed talking to another person in the room next to his.

"You mean a bucket list?" the man asked Duncan.

"Like a fuck-it list," Eddy said to the man. "I'd really like to light a spliff off the Olympic torch."

"Pass it to me right after," the man said.

"Let's not forget naked tandem base-jumping with the WNBA's Portland Fire."

"Anything on my bucket list would involve public nudity."

"Finally, giving Meredith Baxter-Birney a Dutch oven."

"No. Receiving a Dutch oven from Meredith Baxter-Birney." Duncan laughs at this. "Making chocolate chip pancakes for my kids." This makes Duncan think back to a certain individual he had to leave behind.

"Courtney," he silently whispered to himself. He then has a moment of clarity where he can see Courtney, looking at Eddy's Voltron ring. "I wanna see Courtney."

"You're lovely," Ajax says, sarcastically. "I don't know about anyone else, but I'm touched." He approaches the man's bedside.

"We're we just joking," the man said to Ajax.

"No. No. It's okay. I encourage distractions. Wouldn't want you giving up on us, now would we?"

"Hey, don't take any shit from him, Cameron," Eddy said. "How tough can he be… with a name like Al?" Ajax looks surprised by this.

"Al?" Cameron asked.

"That's his legal name," Duncan says, joyously. "He got 'Ajax' from the dish soap." Duncan laughs at this. Al and Angel enter Duncan's suite. "A, L…" Kevin turns on the light. "Oops! Snagged the dry-cleaning tag off your lab coat." Shows it to Al. "FYI, I could probably get you the superhero discount." He then turns towards Angel. "Same goes for you, Heather." Angel looks angry. "As well as your recruiter, Chris." He then begins speaking sarcastically. "What masculine names."

"You're so relentlessly annoying," Al said with malice in his voice.

"Thanks," Duncan said. "Never heard that before."

"Why don't you do us all a favor and shut the fuck up? Or I'll sew your pretty mouth shut."

"Oh… I wouldn't do that if I were you. See, here's the problem with round-the-clock torture. You can't really step it up from there."

Al gains an evil smile on his face. "Is that what you think?"

We then see Duncan getting strapped to a device.

"If this doesn't unlock your mutation, then, well… nothing will. Now what we're going to do is lower the oxygen concentration in the air to the exact point you feel like you're suffocating. If you're brainwaves slow, meaning you're about to pass out… then we'll turn up the O2. If your heat rate slows, meaning you're able to catch your breath… we'll turn it back down." Heather straps him down, enjoying every moment. "And that's where we'll leave you. Right there."

"Oh, and I thought you guys were dicks before," Duncan said.

"You know the funniest part of this? You still think we're making you a superhero." Duncan looks surprised. "You. A dishonorable discharge. Hip-deep in hookers. You're nothing. Little secret, Duncan. This workshop doesn't make superheroes, we make super-slaves. We're gonna fit you with a control collar and auction you off to the highest bidder. Who knows what they'll have you doing? Terrorizing citizens, putting down freedom fighters." Al stops and thinks for a moment. "Maybe just mow the occasional lawn."

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Duncan asked.

Al stands up and approaches Duncan, standing over him. "You're never going home after this." Duncan's face begins to fill with worry. "Now there's a brave face" Al begins closing the device when Duncan stops him.

"Wait! Wait! Wait." After a moment. "Seriously, you actually have something in your teeth now."

Al, not amused, closes the device. "Enjoy your weekend, idiota."

'Weekend?' Back up. Weekend?!"

Al activates the machine, causing the oxygen level to deplete. Duncan then begins gasping for air. Al, satisfied, leaves along with Heather.

Over the course of 24 hours, a dramatic change begins occurring. Duncan's heart rate begins racing and his skin starts to become burned and scarred. He then begins talking through voiceover. "Did I say this was a love story? No, it's a horror movie." Duncan's skin has become deformed and bald, causing him to scream as he looks at himself in the glass's reflection.

The next day, Heather, Chris, and Al arrive and find Duncan alive and deformed. Al deactivates the machine, allowing for Duncan to breathe again.

Al is disgusted by Duncan's nice look. "Joder y infierno. Looks like someone lost his shot at Homecoming King."

"What have you done to me?!" Duncan said angrily.

"I've merely raised your stress levels high enough to trigger a mutation."

"You sadistic fuck!"

"I've cured you, Duncan. Now your mutated cells can heal anything. It's attacking your cancer as fast as it can form. Yeah, I've seen similar side-effects before. I could cure them… but where's the fun in that? Now, I'm gonna shut you in again, Duncan. Not because I need to. Because I want to." Duncan looks angry before looking despondent. "Oh well." He then turns towards Heather. "Go ahead." Heather begins loosening the strap around Duncan's neck.

"Oh, you smell like shit." When she finally unhooks the strap, Duncan headbutts her in the face, causing her to step back in pain. "Motherfucker." She's about to attack when Al stops her.

"Hey, hey, hey. It's all right. It's all right. I think we owe him that one, yeah? You take off, and take Chris with you. Go on. Off you go." Heather & Chris leave, but not before Heather looks back at Duncan with one more look of anger. Heather then grabs another match and puts it in her mouth, which she finds strange because she could've sworn she had one in her mouth moments ago. We then cut back to Al looming over Duncan. "Quick question. What's my name?" Duncan doesn't say a word. "Didn't think so." Al closes and activates the machine and leaves.

Duncan then speaks through voiceover. "Sorry, Al. My lips are sealed."

We then cut to later in the evening where we see Duncan is still in the machine, barely able to breathe. He then begins retching, and takes a match out of his mouth, revealing he may've been the one that took it after he headbutted Angel in the face. He spits it out and places it in his left hand. He then lights it and throws it next to the oxygen valve. As soon as the fire hit the oxygen, it ignited and spread into the tanks, causing an explosion, setting the place ablaze.

Al comes downstairs and sees what has taken place, with his men frantically running around, trying to escape. He grabs the fire extinguisher and begins putting out the fire. He looks around and sees the machine Duncan was in is broken. He then looks in front of him and sees Duncan lunge at him and begin attacking him with a metal canister. Al retaliates by swinging his fire extinguisher at Duncan, which Duncan blocks and counters by punching him in the face, knocking Al to the ground. Duncan's about to hit him with the metal canister again, but Al hits Duncan in the legs with the fire extinguisher, knocking him to the ground. He tries to hit Duncan in the stomach, but Duncan rolls out of the way. They both stand up and face each other. Duncan hits him in the face with his metal canister while Al counters by hitting him in the side with the fire extinguisher, causing Duncan to fall into the fire.

Al's about to hit him once more, but Duncan hits him across the face with all the brute strength he can muster, sending Al flying. Al stands back up as Duncan rips off his lit nightgown. Duncan throws the metal canister at Al, which he easily knocks away. Duncan then bum-rushes Al into a wooden pole and begins punching him until Al avoids the last punch and pins Duncan's head against the pole.

"You don't wanna kill me," he told Duncan. "I'm the only one who can fix your ugly mug." He throws Duncan to the ground.

Duncan tries to punch him, but Al ducks, grabs Duncan, and throws him over his head to the ground. They both stand back up. Duncan tries to punch him, but Al grabs the fist and punches Duncan in the chest, then the throat, then throws him to the ground. Duncan, fairly weakened, has trouble trying to get up. Al grabs a metal pole and walks over to Duncan. He shoves the pole into Duncan's back, through his heart, and through the floorboards, causing Duncan to retch blood. Al punches Duncan one last time and laughs. He then bends the pole so Duncan can't get loose.

He bends down so that he matches Duncan's eye height. "What's my name?" Duncan doesn't reply as Al gets up and walks out of the burning building.

"Duncan," Cameron said, weakly. Duncan looks over at him and sees he's scared, but ultimately succumbs to his fate, to which Duncan does the same as the building burns to the ground

We cut to the next morning where we see the building is nothing but ash and rubble, some of which is still smoldering. Beneath all of it is Duncan. After a moment, he begins to get up, shocked at the fact that he's still alive. He holds his chest and sees the pole is no longer there, and he's wound has healed. He then begins speaking through voiceover.

"I didn't just get the cure to el cancer… I got the cure to el… everything. But there was only one thing… that really mattered." Duncan stands up and begins making his way towards the city.
