Greetings! I am the Marvelous Mage Maximillian, the Maestro of Magicks, and I've come here today to help fill you in on the nature of the strange monsters encountered in this world.
While many monsters have been documented in this world, some have little to no documentation on them, besides rumors and legends. Most likely because they lack that scholar's desire to record information. As such, it is up to I, the greatest of all scholars, to properly document such creatures.
Today's monster is known as the Gnoll.
If you want my honest opinion, you should be grateful I even got close enough to record them. These monsters are savage, chaotic hyena-men who have an endless appetite for destruction.
Although war bands can be found anywhere in the world, Gnolls tend to make permanent settlements in wastelands and Demon Realms.
War bands without men feed primarily on wild game and carrion, devouring not only flesh, but also the bones of their prey. Their bite force is exceptional, I've seen a captured specimen bite through a guard's solid plate armor after chewing through the iron bars in her cell. Needless to say, I now use a Wall of Force to contain all future research specimens.
Their methods of attack usually involve attacking lone wanderers and traders, but if a war band gets large enough, they will attack human settlements as well.
Gnoll war bands usually destroy anything in their path, without question. They hold no respect for societal structure, nor do they have any taste for manners. I should know, after attempting to have a civil conversation with the subject, she just snarled and growled at me, calling me "fresh meat" and "puny man." Naturally I explained to her how a conversation should be held, and she tried to rip my pants off me. Thankfully I had some guards positioned to help me, in case interrogation went south.
Their savagery extends to how they attack. They use crude weapons fashioned from a bone-like material, however they often use their teeth and claws in battle as well.
I said they enjoy eating meat. Well, they love devouring a man's mana even more. When they bite into a man, their teeth don't tear flesh, or wound them, but it bites into their spirit, tearing mana like flesh off of bone.
This way of feeding is primarily used to render him unconscious, draining him of his mana so they can... well, get more intimate later.
I did have one of my students go on a "research expedition" to a Gnoll-infested settlement, and sent my lovable canary Grace out to follow him and help me record his experience out in the wild through our mental link.
He was quickly subdued and captured by a war band, and I got to behold with my own eyes how a Gnoll treats their victims.
My student was thoroughly violated by the Gnolls in every way possible, they were on him like hyenas on an antelope, nibbling, licking... riding.
Most human beings would turn away at the indecency of such a sight, but this is research, so I had to keep watching.
My god, they made love so passionate, so feral, so intense that I must admit I have a strange desire to experience such a thing on my own...
But I shouldn't be thinking such things.
My student was violated constantly, without a second's rest, until he passed out from exhaustion. Then, the Gnolls carried him to a remote area of their den, where he was set down gently onto a pile of furs, beside many other men.
Then the Gnolls gently embraced my student, and I found another discovery. While there were multiple men in the war band, Gnolls seemed to only be attracted to one of them. And through recording each Gnoll's behavior, I discovered that each man had around five to ten Gnolls on him at all times, and the Gnolls "servicing" him were always the same.
So I discovered that Gnolls view the man they capture as their husband, and bond to him.
However, this doesn't change their savage nature. Once my student awakened, he was once again violated by the Gnolls all over.
Over time, I noted my student became more and more accepting of their assault, and eventually, I noticed that he began to attack them, violating them with the same feral lust that they had shown him.
The Gnolls were not the least bit upset about it either, in fact they seemed to be delighted by it.
Gnolls seem to respect strength and ferocity, but they are unwilling to submit to anyone, even their husbands. Even if beaten in combat, they'll still fight back until the end of their days. Thus, intercourse with them is a constant battlefield, competing over who is the one in charge, and who is the one who gets violated.
Strangely enough, despite being classified as Beastmen, they possess a connection to the element of earth. This connection allows them to warp the world around them to their liking. While a singular Gnoll's presence won't change much, if a large enough war band takes root in an area for long enough, the earth around them will become corrupted, twisting into a Demon Realm wasteland, where Demon Realm plants grow wild, and the waters become tainted with Demonic Energy, creating an environment where only monsters and their husbands could truly feel at home.
In addition, a Gnoll with exceedingly high strength and willpower can go through a powerful ritual that transforms it into a monster known as a Flind. Flinds are Gnolls who have been supercharged with Demonic Energy, transforming into powerful monsters that lead the other Gnolls to even greater battles, and greater conquests. However, Flinds are exceedingly rare, so I have yet to meet a specimen to research, unfortunately.
Of course, there are still many things to research in this world, so I'll keep my eyes out for new finds, stay tuned!
