Hello all.
A few months ago, I was asked by a redditor by the name of u/WOTWUZTHAT to help in a group project: A sequel series to the Ridonculous Race. I saw a lot of potential in it and agreed. So after a lot of planning and writing, we finally get to show the fruits of our labor. Including myself and WOTWUZTHAT, here's everyone who's else working on it:
A_Snowy_Vulpix, Awesome_Muffin, AwesomeCream810, CherGlamour, duncney, flofloreddit, Glamouriffic, HomespunHare996, je_we_l, fellow writer KirbyStarWarrior666, Mdj_7, MorriganWicked, N0b0dyy_, Particular_Being_269 (knows as Rockin' D-99 on FF), Poely001, Radishman69, Ryanmaye87, sarahthequeen8, SlayerDaJuggalo, TheGuyThatDrove, unidentified_meat, WizzyOwO, WOTWUZTHAT and yaboirozan (writer of Total Drama Reborn).
So without further ado, let's get into it. This is the Ridonculous Race: The Re-Redonculing!
The show opened with a shot of a beautiful waterway next to a large city. A familiar voice followed. "Welcome to Ottawa, the capital city of Canada. Home of many festivals, mounties and incredible..." The camera zoomed in to show a tall metal statue of a spider. "...but also very scary works of art."
We cut to a man in a white undershirt and a green jacket standing in front of a large building. "We're here at City Hall, where eighteen teams of two will start their incredible journey spanning across the globe." As he was saying this, various flags of different countries flew across the screen. "All this for the chance at a one million dollar cash prize." The man pointed at himself, then extended his arms. "I'm your host Don, and this is …" The camera zoomed in on his face. "The Ridonculous Race…" The camera zoomed in again. "The Re-Ridonculing."
We cut back to Don, standing outside City Hall. "Welcome to season two of The Ridonculous Race! I'm your host, Don, which I already said, but I felt you needed to hear it again. If you're not familiar with the rules for this season, allow me to explain. Eighteen teams, old and new, will be racing around the world, visiting landmarks and competing in various challenges, all while trying to avoid going home before the finale. One by one, teams will fall, until only one duo remains. Let's meet our potential winners, right now."
The camera flashed, revealing a familiar pair of Asian girls, walking down a sidewalk. The one with pigtails stopped the other and took out her phone for a selfie. The long haired one rolled her eyes, but smiled for the picture, nonetheless. "Firstly, returning favorites: The Sisters, Kitty and Emma Wu."
The camera flashed again, showing the Sisters sitting in front of a backdrop which was a map of the world.
"OMGGG I can't believe we're back on the show!" Kitty exclaimed. "I am totes excited to compete again!"
"Same here." Emma added. "And this time, there will be no distractions to get in our way."
"Yeah, I think we got a good chance. No Ice Dancers to screw us over and no butts of the roman gods to be entranced by."
"Yeah…" Emma sighed longingly. Kitty gave her a cheeky grin, before her sister realized what she just said. Her face flushed as she glared at Kitty. "Sh-Shut up!"
The pigtailed sister just laughed.
The camera then cut to another recognizable team . One with shoulder length black hair and the other with longer brown hair. Both were wearing glasses. The shorter one went ahead in excitement, while the other walked at a slower pace. "Next we have another returning team, the Geniuses, Ellody and Mary."
Again, the camera cut to them in the confessional. "Our lack of street smarts and reliance on charts is what prevented us from winning last season." Mary stated. "We will not make the same error twice."
"And if we last longer, we might have a chance to actually explore the incredible cultures of various countries." Ellody said excitedly.
Mary shook her head. "Cultures are good, but we need to actually focus on the challenge this time."
"Umm...right. Challenge first. Learning about wondrous places and their historical significance, second. Understood."
The next team was a male-female duo, shown inside a taxi cab. The female was berating the driver, while the male was sitting back in his chair, quietly reading a book. "Noah and Courtney. A couple of know-it-alls who once competed on a reality show with a second rate host."
In the confessional, Courtney leaned back in her chair. "Ahhh, it's good to be back without any teammates of mine to mess things up! Just solo-ing it!"
Noah blinked. "So am I not here or what?"
Courtney scoffed. "What could you possibly do? The only reason you'll make it far is because I'm here. Picking me as your partner was the smartest thing you've ever done."
The brainiac sighed. "I only picked you because Owen dropped out at the last minute and there was literally no one else."
"You'll come around eventually. Also, no alliances. Especially ones that involve your girlfriend."
"Why not? That would give us a huge advantage."
"Because I said so. And we don't need any distractions on my team." With that, the CIT crossed her arms and proudly smirked to herself. Noah groaned and pinched his forehead.
Don introduced the next team. One of its members was walking down the sidewalk. He was wearing a blue collared shirt and had short black hair. "Dave, a germaphobe who once had his heart broken..." Someone suddenly jumped down from a tree, startling Dave and causing him to fall to the ground. "...and Shawn, a zombie obsessed nut who somehow has a girlfriend."
When the title screen for the duo appeared, it read "Opposite Friends."
"I'm honestly surprised you came onto this show." Dave said. "Aren't you worried you'll run into any zombies? Which, by the way, are not real."
Shawn ignored that last comment. "I was a little hesitant, but I need to inform as many people as I can about the eventual zombie takeover." He then pulled out a flyer that read 'Zombies: Closer than you might think.' He then turned back to Dave. "I'm honestly surprised you'd come onto another reality show. After what happened in Pahkitew, I figured you'd have locked yourself in a bunker for the rest of your life."
Dave glared at his teammate. "Thanks for reminding me." He said sarcastically. "And no, I'm not worried about that. This time, there will be no lying, backstabbing wannabe athletes to get in my way."
Shawn gave him a weird look. "Ummm...dude, did you not know?"
"Know what?"
The camera quickly cut to the next team. It was composed of a skinny black haired girl with feather earrings. The other was a larger woman with big blonde hair. They walked down a sidewalk. "Two more former Pahkitew contestants, Sky and…" Something caught the eye of the big woman and she moved off screen. "...Sugar...where the heck is she going?"
The caption under them read 'Pahkitew Pros.'
In the confessional, only Sky was present. "After what happened last season, I knew I needed a strong partner. Sugar is a little odd, but she placed third overall, so that's gotta count for something. I would've gone with Shawn, but he already has a teammate." The Olympian sighed. "Honestly, I would've taken anyone other than Dave...even Leonard." Sugar suddenly walked in, wearing a white shirt with a Canadian leaf on it. "But now that he's competing too, I'm not sure I-" Sky noticed her partner's presence and her new attire. "Where did you get that?"
Sugar looked down at her shirt. "Oh, this little thing? Saw a guy sellin' it at a stand. Y'know, now that I know we're basically gonna be travelin' the world, I'm gonna try to experience as much culture-lishisness as I can."
Sky raised an eyebrow. "By buying...shirts?"
"By buying anything I can. If it's shoes, socks, belts or those circle things with the little white dots in them."
"Snow globes?"
"Whateva they're called, I'm gettin' it!"
Sky gave a weird look to the camera, while Sugar smiled contentedly.
A tall young man and a much older, and shorter, woman stepped out of a taxi. The woman had long black hair and was wearing a hat with flowers on it. The guy had a white durag and a green shirt. "Up next, DJ and...really that's what we're gonna call her...DJ and Momma, mother and son."
"We entered the show so we could get a new tour bus and, possibly, start a professional cooking show." DJ informed.
"And we're gonna do it with honesty and professionalism," Momma continued. "And we ain't gonna cheat."
"Exactly."
"So no going behind our teammate's backs."
DJ's smile slightly fell. "Y-Yeah."
"Or chickening out when things seem scary."
His smile faltered again. "Yes, Momma…"
"Or hurting poor baby animals."
DJ groaned and frowned. "Yes, Momma. I know."
Momma glared. "What was that, son?"
The Brickhouse quickly stood at attention. "Y-Yes, ma'am- Momma! Yes, Momma!"
Momma smiled triumphantly. "That's better."
The next pair of contestants were standing in a park, doing squats. The guy was wearing a red and white tracksuit and the girl was wearing a shirt that had kumquats on it. "Leshawna and Tyler, Reality Show All-Stars."
"We competed on a bunch of shows already," Leshawna explained. "This is basically one of the only ones we haven't done yet."
"We pretty much got this in the bag," Tyler said confidently. "Leshawna's the brains, I'm the brawn, so we kinda make the perfect team. Now watch me do this cartwheel." The Jock turned around and ran off.
"No, honey, you don't…" Leshawna sighed. "This isn't gonna end well."
Once Tyler was in position, he sprinted towards Leshawna. When he felt he was at a good speed he leaned forward and went to put his hands out. But instead of a graceful cartwheel, he tripped over his own foot and fell to the concrete. He skidded on his face for a few inches, before stopping and tipping to the side in a heap.
Leshawna slapped her hand against her forehead. "I'm definitely the brains, but I don't know what he is yet."
Don introduced the next team. "Up next we have two racers who competed in season one of the Ridonculous Race." A guy wearing a green shirt, with spiky black hair, walked by. "It's Devin and…" his teammate followed behind him. She was a dark skinned girl wearing short shorts. "...Stephanie?!"
"Originally, I was going to come onto the show with my awesome partner, Carrie." Devin explained.
"...and I was supposed to be with my hot as hell boyfriend, Ryan." Stephanie finished.
"But they both had to leave for whatever reason."
The diva scoffed. "Not a mystery with mine. Dude dropped a 45lb dumbbell on his foot and couldn't compete."
Devin gave a confident smile. "So now it's just us. And considering how well we did in the first race, I think we have a shot."
"Yeah. Even if my partner doesn't have the same physique, charm, charisma, muscle, height or focus as Ryan, we've got a pretty good shot at winning."
"Haha…" Devin chuckled, until he realized what Stephanie had just said. "...w-what?"
"Need to think of a name for those two…" Don pondered. "Anyways, here's the next team," Two girls were shown walking out of a store with several bags in hand. One was a tall blonde and the other was chubby and wearing glasses. "Beth and Lindsay, Fashion Friends."
"Being on this show reminds me of World Tour," Lindsay explained. "Only this time, I'll probably get to do some actual shopping."
"Oh, we're gonna do soooo much shopping." Beth added. "And probably run into a lot of cute boys too."
Lindsay's excited face fell. She actually looked upset. "Y-Yeah, but probably not…"
Beth raised an eyebrow. "Why wouldn't we…" She trailed off. "Oh my gosh, Lindsay, I'm so sorry. I forgot-" She didn't get to finish. Lindsay solemnly got off her chair and walked off screen. Beth watched her leave, then awkwardly turned to the camera. "Uhh...go team?"
The next was another female duo. Both were red heads, but very different otherwise. One was sitting on a bench, looking unamused at her partner's antics. Her partner, meanwhile, was hanging off a street lamp like a monkey. "Izzy and Scarlett, two women with incredibly high IQs, but have been known for having psycho tendencies."
Scarlett was shown sitting in the interview area, but Izzy wasn't there. "After my little...outburst on Pahkitew Island, I went on a...self-reflective journey and...realized the error of my ways. But...seeing as my return to reality TV hasn't been met with much fanfare, I'm not surprised who they paired me with." She looked around. "Speaking of which, where is Elizabeth?"
Izzy's head suddenly popped out from the top of the screen. "I told you not to call me that!" Scarlett yelped and fell out of her chair. The eccentric redhead chuckled. "This is gonna be fun." She waved at the camera with both of her hands. "Hi, Owen!" She then realized that nothing was holding her up anymore and she fell to the ground. "Ow."
Another all female duo was shown walking down the sidewalk. One was texting eagerly, not taking any notice of what was in front of her, while the other was aggressively yelling at someone on her phone. "Sierra and Blaineley, Celebrity Gossipers." As Don said this, Blaineley's arm suddenly shot out and slapped Sierra in the face, knocking her over. The blonde gossiper took no notice and continued berating whoever was on the other end.
In the confessional, Sierra sat quietly, while Blaineley was still on the phone, not looking happy at all. "Being on a new reality show is pretty exciting. And with so many first time competitors, and no Cody-kins to distract me, I can actually focus on team dynamics and I'll have so much more material for my vlog."
Blaineley groaned and spoke into her phone. "I already told you, I'm not doing any running in this show. Carlos said too much running is bad for my calves." She paused.
Sierra turned back to the camera. "Maybe we can get a few new ships too. I wonder if-"
Blaineley suddenly stood up from her seat. "What do you mean 'not an option?!" She walked offscreen. "My partner can just do all the races and a limo will take me to the end. We don't need two people for this."
The crazed fan just watched awkwardly as her teammate left. She still could hear her shouting loudly from a distance.
The camera then cut to an all male duo. They were standing on a bridge above the water. One was a red-head with glasses who was carrying a small book in his hand and eagerly pointing and talking about nearby locations. The other, who had a green mohawk, gave a look that said 'I literally wish I was anywhere else but here.' "Duncan and Harold, Longtime Rivals."
In the interview room. Harold was smiling, but Duncan looked both bored and annoyed. "It's pretty awesome that I get to be on this show. I really wanted to be in the first season with Leshawna, but she was busy."
The ex-con just rolled his eyes. "Or maybe she just didn't want to hear your useless facts about every country we go to. Which, knowing you, we'll be lucky to get through three."
"What are you talking about? Are you forgetting my many mad skills that won the Killer Bass two challenges in a row?"
"Yeah, well now it's just you and me, Doris. Besides, who outlasted you in literally every season we were in?"
Harold smirked devilishly. "I don't know, who gave you a black eye in season two?"
Duncan opened his mouth to say something, but was too caught off guard by what Harold just said. The Dweeb smiled proudly to himself.
"And here we have a team that I know isn't going to get very far, in life or the competition." The next duo were sitting on a bench. Neither of them looked very happy. One was a large, tall man in a white apron and the other, who had his arms crossed and was pouting, was significantly smaller. "Chris and Chef, washed-up hasbeen- I mean, Reality TV Hosts."
"At first when we got called to the reality TV circuit again," Chef explained, "we thought the network wanted a new season of Total Drama. But instead they wanted us on this show…as competitors, and Chris really ain't happy."
"The producers knew exactly what they were doing," Chris snapped. "They knew I would never voluntarily agree to do a show with...him."
"He's not going to screw us out of the million. It's not something you would do…" Chef trailed off, not wanting to finish his sentence.
"It's bogus!" Chris leapt out of his seat. "I work hard on Total Drama and that B-version of me gets to host?! It's bull. You know he's thinking of ways to screw us over. He's gonna try to mess with-"
The camera suddenly cut to the next team. "That's enough of that…" The duo consisted of two girls, one blonde and the other brunette. The blonde was wearing a pink sleeveless shirt and the other a sweatshirt. Both were outside a clothing store, looking through the window. "Jen Masterson and Caitlin Cooke, certified Gal Pals."
"When we watched the first season of the Ridonculous Race together," Jen explained, while Caitlin excitedly bounced in the seat next to her, "I loved the idea of traveling the world and seeing all the awesome sights with a friend by my side. So when they announced a new season, I knew I had to sign both of us up."
Caitlin couldn't help but let out a squeal of excitement. "I'm so stoked to be competing alongside you too, Jen!"
Jen gave her fellow gal pal a high five, "Right back at ya! And if we win, I'm totally gonna be signing up for the Winter Olympics where I'll become the world's greatest snowboarder! No more Penalty Box for this girl!"
"And I'm gonna launch my own fashion brand." She pointed at her friend. "And you are getting a 50% discount off of everything there!"
The two clasped their hands together and let out another ear piercingly loud "Eeeeeee!"
"Oh, that reminds me," Don explained. "Today's episode of the Ridonculous Race: The Re-Ridonculing, is brought to you by the letter E." He chuckled lightly to himself. "Alright, next team." The duo consisted of two girls, both with pale skin, but one wearing pink and the other wearing mostly dark colors. The pink dressed girl seemed to be singing and skipping down the path, while the other was walking normally. "From one team that seemed to share a brain, to another that couldn't be any more different, Gwen and Ella, Cousins."
"I'm so glad to be back on a reality show again." Ella said. "I got to meet so many wonderful people back in Total Drama."
Gwen gave her a weird look. "Even Chris? Or that weird country girl?"
"They had...different opinions of me, and that's okay. As long as I get to spend time with my wonderful cousin, I'm happy to be here."
The goth couldn't help but smile. "You're always happy, Ella. I wish I had your optimism."
"Perhaps we can lift your spirits with a song?"
Gwen's smile immediately fell. "Yeah...no. Let's not do that." She placed her finger upon Ella's mouth preventing her from singing anymore.
The camera zooms in on the inside of a taxi cab. A familiar, and very dysfunctional, couple were seen sitting in the back seats, both looking bored. "The Dynamic Drama Duo, Heather and Alejandro. Two manipulative minds that came together to form a dangerous couple."
"This isn't our first time on reality TV." Heather said.
"However, this is our first time where we'll be trying to get the prize money together." Alejandro explained. "Heather and I were the two fiercest competitors in Total Drama, so we'll make quite the formidable pair."
"Just remember, I'm in charge." Heather shot a thumb in her direction.
"Sure. Our opponents could use a handicap." Alejandro smirked, as Heather crossed her arms in annoyance.
A pair of female contestants were sprinting down the sidewalk. One was incredibly tall, while the other had bright red hair. "Jasmine and Zoey, Survivalists."
Zoey nervously rubbed her arm. "I still don't know why you picked me over your boyfriend, Jasmine. He probably would've been a better partner."
"I honestly didn't think Shawn would sign up for the show," Jasmine said. "But I already made my choice, so he was stuck with Dave. Besides, why wouldn't I pick you? You made the top three in one season of Total Drama and reached the finale in another. Don't count yourself out, you're stronger than you realize."
Zoey blushed. "Thanks. I kinda wish Mike was here though. It would've been fun to travel the world with him." She suddenly went wide eyed and looked at the tall Australian. "N-Not that you're not a good partner, just that I don't know you that well and I-"
Jasmine giggled and put her hand on the Indie Chick's shoulder. "It's alright, Zo. I know what you mean. But, seriously, I think we might be one of the best teams here."
"You think so?" Jasmine nodded, which made Zoey smile confidently. "Alright, then. We got this!"
The last duo shown were two pony tailed girls, one red head, one blonde. They were walking down a stone staircase. They waved at the camera, until the blonde tripped and fell down. The redhead winced before falling down herself. "And lastly, Bridgette and Emma M, Surfer Girls."
"I was originally supposed to do this show with my boyfriend, now fiancé, Geoff, but he was busy." Bridgette explained. "When this show first came out, seeing him do this race with Brody inspired me to do the race with my friend, Emma."
"I can't believe I'm actually on tv right now!" Emma M. waved at the camera. "Hi to all the friends back at Sunset Beach!"
Bridgette chuckled. "She's really excited to be here. We met after I challenged her friend, Fin, to a surfing challenge back in BC, which of course resulted in no winner due to some hijinks involving a coffee bean roaster and some rare breed of sea otter." They both laughed.
"I was so stoked when Bridgette picked me as her partner. She was one of my favorites on Total Drama, so it's kind of a big deal to be traveling the world with her!"
The two high-fived each other.
Soon, all eighteen teams were standing around Don. "Welcome teams of various degrees of weirdness! You're all probably familiar with the rules, but I'm still going to explain a few things because I love hearing myself talk. At the end of every country we travel too, there will be a chill zone, the last team to get to the carpet of completion may be eliminated! Though, I think it's a safe bet one of you will go home at the end of this leg. The last team racing will win our grand prize of…one million dollars!"
Most of the teams cheered at this, while others simply smiled. Don went over to a miniature statue, shaped like him, that had a big red button on its head. "This may seem familiar. It's the Don Box! Press the button to get all your travel tips. These are vital in your journey, as without them, you can't advance to the next section of the race." The host spun on his heel and gave a knowing grin to the teams. "Now how about we get this thing started?" The teams readied themselves." Alright, we're going to start in...3, 2, 1, GO!"
All eighteen teams took off towards the Don Box. Some quicker than others. "Wait a minute!" Lindsay shouted, still carrying all the shopping bags. "How am I supposed to run with all these designer shoes?"
Beth stopped and turned around. "Lindsay, I don't think we can take those with us."
"But why not?" The blonde pouted. "You said we get to shop this time."
"But if we win the million dollars, we can do all the shopping we want."
Lindsay thought about that for a moment, before shrugging. "Good point," With that, she dropped all her bags to the ground and took off with her teammate.
The rest of the teams had made it to the Don Box. Shawn was the first to press the button. A ticket came out of a slot where Don's mouth would be. The Zombie Nut picked it up and read it. "Make your way to the Centre Block Parliament building, then, from there, make your way to the top of the Peace Tower for a ticket to your first location." He looked up, just in time to see Dave walk up to him. "Let's go." He sprinted away, as Dave groaned and followed.
More teams picked up their own travel tips. "How are we gonna get there?" Zoey asked. "We don't have a map."
Jasmine looked around and pointed. "There's a tourist stand over there. We can probably get one inside." Zoey nodded and they both ran towards the stand.
After getting their ticket, Jen ran towards the street and stuck out her hand. "Taxi! Taxi!" Caitlin walked up behind her, giving a weird look.
Confessional (Gal Pals): "So we don't get our own car during the race?" Caitilin asked. "We actually have to use...public transportation?"
Jen chuckled. "Yeah. But don't worry, we'll probably get a private jet at some point."
The blonde crossed her arms and huffed. "They better…" Jen gave a sympathetic pat on her friend's shoulder.
"Quick! Let's take Lisgar Street!" Ellody shouted to Mary.
"Follow them, Kitty!" Emma said, starting to run. A few other teams trailed behind them.
Confessional (Geniuses): "We've been trying to predict the places we'd be flying to for the new installment of Ridonculous Race." Ellody said.
"Ottawa was on that list, so we know all the major streets that we'll possibly need to go down for this leg of the race." Mary added on, flipping through a book of maps. "We're more prepared than any team here, we're going to win this."
Confessional (Sisters): "Don't you think it's kinda cheap to follow someone like that?" Kitty asked.
"Doesn't matter. They know the streets, we don't. Might as well take advantage of that." Emma replied.
"Alright…" Kitty pondered that. "But, weren't they the third team eliminated last season?"
Emma opened her mouth to answer, but didn't say anything. She looked over at her sister and sighed. "That's actually a good point."
Kitty went wide eyed. "Wow. You actually admitted when you were wrong?" A smile crept across her face. "I'm gonna like this season."
"Most of the teams have already left," Don explained. "But some are still trying to get out of City Hall."
"Alright, where's that limo?" Sugar said, as if one would appear right in front of her.
"There is no limo, Sugar." Sky sighed. "We have to take a taxi, or bus or something…"
Sugar put her hands on her hips. "No limo?! Do the producers know who I am!"
Sky looked around for a bus. "This is gonna be a long season…"
Gwen ran past them, visibly stressed. "Ugh, where are we gonna find Parliament?"
Ella calmly walked up to her and put her hand under her chin. She took in her surroundings and quickly got an idea. "Don't worry cousin." She went over to a field of grass. "All we need is a little help." She suddenly started singing and twirling, much to Gwen's confusion. Moments later, a large gathering of squirrels, birds and even a deer were surrounding her. "My fellow aaaanimals…" She sang. "We need your help to find the way, so what do you have to say, point us in the direction of the Parliament...today."
Gwen was still in utter disbelief at what her cousin was doing. Even more surprised when the animals started chirping and pointing. Ella nodded along and eventually turned to her cousin. "Follow me." She walked away, waving goodbye to the other animals.
The goth didn't immediately respond, but shook out of her daze and followed. "Whatever you say."
"Noah, it's this way!" Courtney said, pointing down a street.
The brainiac walked up, holding a map. "Well, the map says to go the other way," Noah pointed in the opposite direction.
"Let me see that." Courtney snatched the map from Noah's hands, looked at it for a second and tore it in half. "The map is wrong."
"Hey, I bought that-"
Before he could say anything else, Courtney threw him over her shoulder. She then sprinted in the direction she had pointed earlier.
Needless to say, Noah wasn't too thrilled. "Hey, put me down! We'll go your way, just let me walk, at least!"
"This is what you get for wasting my time!" She said, sprinting down the street somehow faster than if she wasn't carrying another human being on her shoulder.
The Fashion Friends had gotten their taxi. Beth seemed excited, until she noticed her teammate. Lindsay had been staring out the window since they got in. She sighed unhappily, causing the window to fog up. Beth frowned.
Confessional (Beth): "I shouldn't have brought up the chance at meeting cute boys." She sighed. "Lindsay's been so upset ever since she and Tyler broke up. Lindsay forgot his name again, and...it was at his parent's house...in front of them. I mean, I don't blame him for breaking things off. That's a pretty terrible thing to happen and-"
"Beth!"
The Wannabe looked up. It was then revealed that she had been doing the confessional from the cab...with Lindsay still inside. She looked both confused and hurt.
Beth awkwardly stared at her feet and cupped her hands. "Oh right. Sorry."
From the outside, one of the teams had taken a different approach to getting to Parliament. "Come on, Emma." Bridgette called. "We gotta pick up the pace."
Emma M. was trailing behind and panting. They had decided to run to Parliament. "Why...why are...running again?" The surfer said.
"We don't have time. Nearly everyone else is taking a car. They're probably going to run into traffic." Emma was too tired to respond.
Suddenly, DJ ran by them, with a rickshaw. "Keep up the pace, son." Momma called from her seat. The brickhouse smiled like nothing phased him.
"TAXI!"
Devin covered his ears from the sheer volume of Stephanie's voice. "Do you have to be that loud?" He asked.
The Diva glared at him. "Do you want a taxi to take us? Or do you want to be left behind by everyone else?"
Devin didn't answer. He looked annoyed at his teammate, but eventually sighed and put his hands over his ears again. "Go ahead."
Stephanie nodded and went back to hollering for a ride.
Nearby, another taxi had just taken off. From the inside, Dave had his hand pressed against his cheek, looking unamused. Shawn was in the front seat, talking about the signs of the eventual zombie takeover to a very concerned driver.
"Y'know?" Dave looked at the camera. "We were in the lead earlier. But Shawn had to tell an old lady about the dangers of becoming a zombie. And then she decked him with her purse."
"Hey," Shawn objected. "Not only is that lady now informed of a very real danger, but she also has a pretty good weapon of choice. I'm pretty sure she broke something in my nose. If I was a zombie, my head would've come clean off." Dave groaned, while the taxi driver looked even more fearful.
Heather and Alejandro were sitting in the back of another taxi. As they were riding, Heather was discussing strategy with Alejandro. However, Alejandro didn't look like he was paying much attention to his girlfriend. He was instead gazing out the window of the cab.
"Apparently The Sisters ranked 4th in the first season of this show, so we should definitely keep an eye out for them. Duncan and Harold might also be a threat."
"It's not like those two were known for getting along." Alejandro said, still looking out the window.
"That doesn't mean we should overlook them. Harold surprisingly has a lot of skills, and Duncan has always made the merge back on Total Drama. He was even a finalist during Season 2. Still, you're right. They don't get along. Which is exactly what we'll be counting on to take them down."
"I see." Alejandro said.
Heather started to grow annoyed. "What are you even looking at? It's not like Canada is a new place for you."
Alejandro turned to face his girlfriend. "I was merely looking for a good hotel to spend the night at after this episode."
"Huh?"
"I assume we'll be needing places to stay in between challenges. So it's best to have a place in mind beforehand. Besides," Alejandro put a hand underneath Heather's chin. "They'll be one of the few places where we can get some time together away from the cameras."
Heather frowned as she slapped Alejandro's hand off her. "Alejandro, if you don't take this seriously, you're gonna have some time together with the street. And I'll be more than happy to introduce the two of you right away."
Alejandro widened his eyes. "U-Understood!"
"As the Dynamic Drama Duo makes their way towards Parliament," Don narrated. "Other teams are still trying to get on the road."
"Hey, Dweeb." Duncan called. "I got us a taxi." He was about to open the door, but a hand suddenly pulled him away. "What the- Izzy?"
The crazy girl chuckled. "That's warden to you, sonny boy." She spoke in a gruff tone. "Now get on out here, before I send in the hounds."
"I believe what my colleague, Elizabeth, is trying to say is that the taxi is ours." Scarlett said.
"I told you not to call me that." Izzy pointed, dropping her act.
Duncan rolled his eyes. "Fine. Whatever. We'll share it, just get in." Both teams entered the car. "Alright, which is the quickest way to Parliament?"
Harold and Scarlett answered at the same time. "That way." However, they were both pointing in different directions. "Umm…" Harold said. "I think you should know the quickest way to get to Parliament is that way."
"And I'll have you know," Scarlett glared. "That I spent an entire school year building a map of Canada, in my basement. I know which way it is."
"But did you ever earn a badge in map making?"
The two nerds argued, while Duncan slapped his forehead. "Can one of you idiots just pick a direction to go?"
"Oh, I know." Izzy chimed in, reaching behind her back. "We'll settle this with rock, paper, scissors. I choose..." She pulled out a pair of… "scissors!"
Duncan and Harold both gasped, as they quickly pushed their way out of the car. Scarlett looked bemused.
Confessional (Rivals): "If there's one thing Duncan and I can agree on…" Harold started.
"...Izzy with a pair of scissors is something you don't want to be around." The ex-con finished.
Duncan stomped the ground in annoyance as he watched the taxi burn rubber. "Hey, Rivals." The duo turned to see another team heading towards them. Sierra took out her phone. "Have you guys settled your differences since season two, or has it just gotten worse from there?"
"Well, actually-" Harold began.
"Is this really a good time?" Blaineley asked.
"I need more material for my vlog." Sierra countered, turning back to Harold. "Have you and Leshawna done anything together?"
The geek smiled. "I'm glad you asked-"
"Don't ask that!" Blaineley interrupted again. "Ask Duncan what he's done since getting out of prison."
"I have enough Duncan material. I need something new."
Harold tried to say something, but Blaineley shushed him with a finger. "Nobody cares, poindexter."
Now Sierra was getting frustrated. "Now you're just sabotaging my interview." Another argument broke out, as Harold watched.
He suddenly felt a hand grab his shoulder. "I got us another ride." Duncan yanked , pulling the dweeb back with him, leaving the Gossipers by themselves.
"The first teams are now arriving at Parliament." Don announced.
Just as he said this, two taxis came to a stop near the sidewalk. The Geniuses were the first to get out. "There's the next Don Box." Mary pointed, and they took off towards it.
The door to the other cab opened and out stepped...Chris?
Confessional (Hosts): "We figured following the smartest players in the game would give us a better advantage." Chef explained. "Even if we've never been contestants, we certainly know how they think."
Chris cast a devilish smile. "Yeah. What now, Don? We made a strategic decision. We know what we're doing. And I bet it's eating you up inside that we-"
He was cut off by another flash of white.
Mary pressed the red button and a ticket shot out. "It's an either-or."
Ellody looked excited. "I hope we're going to the Peace Tower. I've always wanted to see the Book of Remembrance."
The taller genius rolled her eyes. "We won't have time. But we are going to the Peace Tower."
Chris had just taken his ticket. "An either-or?" He scoffed. "Knowing Don, it's probably some lame and uninspired challenge. I bet it's something from our show."
The camera cut to Don, standing inside a small room. "Lame and uninspired? Isn't that the title of your new auto-biography, Chris?" He chuckled. "Anyways, an either-or means the teams will have one of two options for their challenge. In this case, they can either navigate the complicated halls of the peace tower to find the way to the top or scale the walls and reach the top using ropes."
From the bottom, both the Hosts and Geniuses gulped. The big tower, in front of them, didn't make either option an easy choice.
Three more taxis pulled up. Out stepped the Psycho High IQs, the Survivalists and the Rivals. "Hah," Harold laughed, when he saw Scarlett. "I was right."
"We arrived at the same time, Dorkus." Duncan snapped, running to the Don Box.
Jasmine was the first to take the ticket. She quickly read the tip and showed it to Zoey. "How good are you at climbing?"
Zoey was confused, until Jasmine held it up to her. The Indie Chick gasped and looked up to the tower, then to Jasmine. The Aussie smirked and nodded at her. Zoey gulped at what they were about to do.
The Gal Pals arrived soon after. Caitlin stepped out with a look of disgust. "Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew. I hate taxis."
Jen ran to her and grabbed her arm. "It's ok, Cait. It's over."
"I never want to ride in one of those things ever again." She shuddered.
As soon as she said that, another taxi pulled up. It was the Opposite Friends. "Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew. I hate taxis." Dave shuddered.
"At least you're not the only one suffering." Jen chuckled.
"Speaking of suffering," Shawn suddenly popped up, startling both Gal Pals. "Do either one of you know what it's like to be bitten by a zombie?" He handed them a flyer.
Caitlin gasped and took it. "OMG! Talon once got turned into a zombie! So did you, Jen."
Shawn looked like he was about to have a full blown panic attack, before Jen put a finger up. "Neither of those things happened." She turned to her teammate. "Jude told us he dreamed that. Remember?"
"Oh...right." The Gal Pals headed towards the Don Box.
Shawn was still on edge.
Confessional (Opposite Friends): "Did you hear that?" Shawn asked. "One of the Gal Pals used to be a zombie."
"She also said it was a dream." Dave said dryly.
"Yeah, but dreams can sometimes mean something. One time my uncle dreamed he was fighting King Kong in a giant robot suit, and the next day he won a lifetime supply of bananas."
Dave gave a weird look to his partner. "That makes...ugh, never mind."
More teams started arriving at Parliament. "Oh sweet." Tyler exclaimed, once he saw their options for the challenge. He turned to his partner. "We're gonna climb." And he took off towards the Tower.
"Tyler, I-" Leshawna sighed. The Jock was already out of ear shot. "Why do I even bother?" She followed him.
DJ ran up with the rickshaw, completely out of breath. Momma got out and went to the Don Box. "Good job, Son." She said as she passed him.
"Thank...thank you...Momma…" He said exhausted.
Once Momma had gotten the ticket, she went back to her son. She reached into her purse. "Now eat this." She shoved a cookie into his mouth. "You need your energy back if you're going to take us up there."
DJ chewed and swallowed the treat. His eyes immediately widened. "Alright, Momma. I'll get to work." He kneeled over and Momma jumped onto his back and the duo ran off.
As soon as they were gone, another taxi pulled up. A very tired looking Sierra stepped out, followed by her partner.
"And don't expect me to tip you!" Blaineley shouted at the driver and slammed the door.
"Looks like we either have to climb the wall," Sierra said, coming back with the tip. "or take the stairs."
Blaineley took one look at the ticket. "You can decide. Whichever is easier while carrying me."
"Carrying you?! Why do I have to do that?!"
"I'm wearing heels, so I can't go up the stairs. Besides I've seen you carry that little twerp in the third season like he was a twig."
Sierra glared. "Firstly, it's Cody. Second, he was light as a feather and you're-" The crazed fan stopped herself as she was now receiving a massive scowl courtesy of her partner. Sierra sighed. "Fine. I guess going up the walls will be easier." She headed towards the Tower, while Blaineley smirked to herself.
"Come on!" Bridgette just arrived at the site. "There's already a bunch of people here."
Emma M. followed, practically crawling. "Great...great idea, Bridgette. Let's just...never take...the taxi."
The TV All-Stars were strapped into their harnesses and had begun climbing. So far they had made good progress. Tyler looked down and smiled at the progress he was making. "WOO! First place here we com-" Expectedly, the jock's foot slipped and he plummeted to the ground.
LeShawna looked down at him and cringed. "You okay?"
Tyler didn't immediately respond. He just lay face-down on the ground, with arms and legs bent in strange ways. However, he groggily managed a thumbs-up.
Leshawna sighed, "I'm coming down…" and began her descent.
Meanwhile, Chris and Chef were still looking for the staircase leading to the top.
Confessional (Hosts): Chris looked annoyed. "Our plan was to follow the genius girls 'cause they probably knew the way. But one of them got distracted by some book of Memphis or whatever."
"It's called the Book of Remembrance." Chef added, slightly annoyed.
"Cool," Chris said with fake enthusiasm. "I'll put it in my list of things I don't care about." He received a low grumble as a response.
"Do you even know where we're going?" Chris asked rudely.
"No!" Chef snapped back. "I know you don't either."
"Hey, you!"
The Hosts turned around. They both saw the equivalent of a raging bull about to charge. Sugar had just arrived at the Tower. But her sole focus was on Chris and Chef. She had red in her eyes. Sky was more than happy to be behind her teammate. "You two Corn-Pickin' Cattle Prodders!"
"What the heck does that mean?" Chris whispered.
"Shut up, man." Chef said back, fear in his voice.
"You cost me my chance at a million dollas. You didn't think my Craptry performance was good enough. Y'all thought I would just let that go?" Chris and Chef were too afraid to answer. "Well I'll show you!" With that, the Country Girl charged forward, screaming.
The Hosts had no idea where they were going but, as long as it was away from Sugar, they didn't care. They ran down the halls with the girl on their tail. Sky watched them run, then sighed as she realized she'd need Sugar to finish the challenge, so decided to follow.
Don was still waiting at the top of the Peace Tower. One of the sides of the clock was opened and had two sets of black wires going out. "Nearly all the teams have arrived at this point. Now it's just a matter of who makes it to the top, but it could be a while before-" A hand had grabbed one of the ledges. Don jumped. Jasmine grunted and pulled herself up and inside. Moments later, Zoey entered from a different opening. Don was still trying to catch his breath. "Thanks...thanks for the heart attack, guys." He looked annoyed.
"Oh...sorry about that," Zoey said. "We didn't mean to-"
Don cut her off "Whatever," He pulled out two plane tickets and pointed at the two wires. "You have both earned these tickets. Take them and you'll be on the first flight to Cairo." The Survivalists shared a high five, before getting on the zipline.
Not long after, Scarlett and Izzy had entered the clock tower room. "You got here quickly." Don noted.
"It was simple," Scarlett scoffed. "Studying schematics has been a hobby of mine for a while."
"Yeah, that doesn't sound suspicious." Don muttered to himself. He handed Scarlett the tickets, then noticed. "Wait, where's Izzy?"
Scarlett turned to see the Crazy Girl was indeed gone. She sighed. "The most logical assumption would be that she took the zipline as soon as she realized it was there."
Don looked towards the opening and, sure enough, Izzy was nearly halfway to the bottom, laughing like a maniac as she held onto the bar. Scarlett watched on in annoyance.
"And what most people don't know is that, on average, a zombie's bite will take effect in about three hours. Between that time, you want to isolate yourself as best as possible, that way when the uninfected have to actually kill you, it'll be all the more easier."
Gwen rolled her eyes. "Good to know and not in the least bit unsettling."
The Cousins and the Opposite Friends had been climbing on the walls. Gwen and Shawn were having no issues, but Dave was noticeably struggling. "Where on earth did Don get the rights to do something like this?"
"Probably the same place Chris got the rights to basically have us defecate on national monuments…" Gwen answered sarcastically.
Just as she said this, Ella passed them. Only she wasn't climbing, like the others. Instead, she was being carried by a group of chirping birds. Shawn and Dave were amazed, but Gwen wasn't as phased.
"Doesn't that go against the rules?" Shawn asked.
"I don't think so," Gwen said. "She still has the harness on, so I think it's legal."
Ella had been singing to keep the birds flying, but as soon as she saw Dave, she froze up. The birds faltered for a moment and she actually dropped slightly.
"Ella!" Gwen called.
The Princess snapped back to reality and went back to singing, albeit with less energy. Shawn and Dave continued climbing, but Gwen stared at her cousin for a moment. That was definitely odd.
Back at the bottom of the tower, two of the teams were still trying to find their way up. Duncan already wasn't happy with being paired with Harold, but being next to Heather and Alejandro wasn't exactly helping things.
"You seem grumpier than usual." Heather snided.
"And you're just a ball of sunshine, aren't you?" Duncan snapped back.
Alejandro cut in. "Don't you dare say that about her."
"That sounded more like a compliment," Harold said, slightly confused. "Why would he-"
"Noah!" came a voice. "Pick up the pace!"
The two teams stopped. They knew who that voice belonged to. Duncan even winced at hearing it.
Two competitors appeared from a corner. Courtney was ahead, with Noah trailing behind. "I think I liked it better when you were carrying me…" He said dully.
Duncan turned his head. His ex was the last person he wanted to see. Had he known she, or Gwen, was going to be on the show too, he never would've signed on in the first place. But, money was tight and-
"Duncan!"
The ex-con shook his head. When he came to, he saw Harold in front of him. Courtney and Noah were gone, as were the Dynamic Drama Duo.
"What's wrong with you?" Harold said. "Heather and Alejandro already left to follow Courtney. She probably knows, more than anyone, where the stairwell is. Let's go!"
Duncan gulped. He felt himself tensing up. Without thinking, he turned around and walked away. "You're smart. Find us a different way up there." Before Harold could answer, Duncan was already out of sight. The Dweeb didn't have much of a choice and followed.
Meanwhile, Heather and Alejandro were indeed following the Know-it-alls. The Queen of Drama had a nasty grin on her face.
Confessional (Dynamic Drama Duo): "Never have I been given such a wonderful gift," Heather said. Alejandro raised an eyebrow. "Not only do I get an easy pass to the next part of the challenge, but I also now know how I can take down Duncan, Courtney or possibly both."
"Would you care to inform me of your plan?" Alejandro asked with a twinkle in his eye.
"When I find you useful for something, I'll tell you." The Diva crossed her arms. "And the way my luck's going, it'll hopefully be never."
Alejandro's face fell, which only increased Heather's good mood.
A few of the teams had found the stairwell and had begun their climb. Most of them were finding it difficult.
"Hurry...it up…" Stephanie panted. "Ryan would've...gotten there...twenty minutes ago."
Devin had also been struggling. "Well...I'm not...Ryan...am I?"
"You...wish."
Further down, another team was feeling the strain. "You…okay, Caitlin?" gasped out an exhausted Jen. "It feels like we've been walking forever!" She turned around to check up on her partner, and saw that she looked tired beyond belief.
"How much…longer?" Caitlin wiped some sweat off her forehead and brushed her hand through her own disheveled hair. "Uuugh…I wish I was back with Sebastian right now…" She whined.
Jen, however, wasn't so willing to let her blonde best friend give up. "You wanna start your fashion brand, right?"
"Right..." panted Caitlin, arms drooped low.
"Then we can't quit now!" urged the athlete, taking Caitlin's hand, "Now let's get going! I know you can do this! You dragged a whole photo booth across the mall, remember?"
Caitlin perked up a little, "…Okay. I'll do my best." With that, the two Gal Pals continued their long trek up the staircase. But despite what she said, Caitlin couldn't help but complain. "I really shouldn't have worn high heels for this…"
"More teams have reached the top and have earned their tickets on the first flight to Cairo." Don narrated. A series of shots of tickets being handed out were shown. The Sisters, the Dynamic Drama Duo and Know-it-Alls all had theirs. "Isn't this a surprise?" Don said as he handed tickets to the next team. "Mother and Son. How on earth did you two get up here so quickly?"
DJ looked tired, but proud. "I guess...I guess I just love my mother too much to really give up."
Momma smiled and reached up to pinch her son's cheeks. Don was weirded out. "What?!" Momma snapped, once she noticed him. "You think it's weird for a mother to love her son?" She held up her purse like she was going to hit him.
Don put his hands up. "Um...no, I just-" At that moment, a door opened. The Host looked up, thankful for an interruption. "Ah, the Geniuses." Then realization struck him. "Wait a minute, weren't you guys the first team to arrive. What happened?"
Mary cast an annoyed glare at her teammate, who was looking sheepish. "We were in the lead, Don. But somebody was too enamored by the Book of Remembrance to focus."
"I just wanted to learn about its historical significance…" Ellody muttered.
"Well, I commend you for your desire to learn, but I also laugh at you for your stupidity." Don said, as he held out a ticket. "Unfortunately, Mother and Son got the last tickets for flight number one, so you two will have to wait for the next one."
Mary, again, looked at her partner with annoyed expression. Ellody didn't say anything and quietly took the tickets.
Chris and Chef had just arrived at the top of the tower. Sweat was falling off of them like bullets. Don couldn't help but laugh. "Honestly, I'm surprised you guys didn't come in dead last." The Hosts were too tired to respond. "But I can see you had motivation."
Just behind them, Sugar was at the door. She was also exhausted from running up the stairs. "Don't...don't you think...you can...get away from me...that easily." She fell onto her knees.
Sky ran past her and grabbed the tickets. "Dang it! We have to take the second flight?"
" 'Fraid so." Don shrugged. "But I'm sure your partner will appreciate the extra Z's."
Sky looked back at her pooped-out partner and couldn't help but agree.
The Gal Pals had just entered the observation deck. "What took you two so long?" Don chuckled, noting their pained expressions. "Was it really a good idea to wear heels?"
"Don't remind me," panted Caitlin. Don handed them the ticket, which both girls read together.
As soon as they had read it, their eyes regained their spark. "We're going to Cairo! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
Don flinched from the sheer high pitch of the girls cheering. Both of them ran towards the zipline. Don scratched his ear with an annoyed expression. "Somehow that's only the second-most ear-piercingly loud shriek I've heard from Jen today." He quickly regained his composure and turned to the camera. "Well, that was the last ticket to Cairo, which means everyone's on their way to our next destination. But they won't be arriving at the same time."
A quick flash revealed a map of an airport with three planes on it. One of the planes flashed a yellow color. "The first plane to Cairo carries The Survivalists, The Psycho High IQs, Mother and Son, The Dynamic Drama Duo, The Know it Alls and The Sisters." The second plane then lit up. "Flight number two will carry The Geniuses, Opposite Friends, The Cousins, Pahkitew Pros, Rivals and The Hosts." The third plane flashed. "And the third, and final, flight which will not leave for another hour after the first plane has left, contains The Surfer Girls, The Reality TV All-Stars, The Gossipers, Stephanie and Devin, The Fashion Friends and The Gal Pals." The camera flashed again with Don standing next to an airport. "Seventeen teams will move on, but one may be going home soon. Find out who that will be when we return...on the Ridonculous Race…" The camera zoomed in on Don's signature smile. "The Re-Ridonculing!"
