The Third Raikage stood on a war-torn battlefield. Over 10,000 shinobi slain at his feet, but they just continued to come. 'A' however didn't faulter, that is until the enemy force distanced themself from him. Fear? Yes, but it appeared to not be because of 'A'. A black mist had begun to slowly seep across the battlefield. It crept eerily across the land until finally encircling 'A'. Screams invaded the Raikage's ears as he covered his mouth and kept his vision sharp. He looked around, turning slowly as flashes of red-light and even more screams were heard.
As quickly as the mist appeared, it began to disappear. The surrounding area was littered with fresh bodies of the slain. All that remained was a single warrior standing a short distance from 'A' looking the opposite direction. This new warrior was clad in war-torn green armor, and had a curved sword on his back.
This strange warrior turned around very slowly and faced the Raikage. Two red orbs glowed brightly behind the person visor. It was at this moment that 'A' realized who he was dealing with. The red symbol on the top of the hood gave it all away.
"So, you have come for me now assassin?" 'A' asked. The two stared at each other, neither moving other than spoken words. "I know of you. The entire shinobi world knows of you. All Anbu forces have been collecting data across the lands, piecing together a file for you. Every nation has some sort of price on your head. The great 'Kage killer' as the file is titled..." 'A' began. "Now I'm not fond of assassins, but I respect any skilled shinobi, which you have proven to be for evading capture after so long... That brings me to my next point of interest... You must be getting up there in age. I'm willing to bet that you were in your prime when you took down the first Hokage. At the latest, shortly after taking him down, but surely you had aged during the second great war. Yet here we are. You must be on your last leg, am I right?"
The green warrior tilted his head slightly.
"I'm sorry to have come after such a hard-fought battle... leaving you no time to prepare..."
'A' laughed. "Dodging the question, are we? I wouldn't want to talk about my age either. I still have so much to teach the world. So much I want to do..." 'A' looked up at the sky, then back to the assailant before him. "You allowed me ample time to protect my men and have them escape. For that much I can thank you... You know I am a firm believer that children are destined to surpass their parents." The Third Raikage said with a smile. "I can only imagine how strong my son is going to be, since I am about to kill the legendary Kage assassin."
'A's entire body was engulfed in massive amounts of chakra, still quite a feat due to the fact he had been fighting for three days straight with no rest. "I am the strongest shield, and I have the strongest spear!" 'A' yelled. His hands formed his legendary piercing blade. "there is nothing I can't cut with this attack, prepare yourself!"
The green warrior didn't respond and didn't move he just stood there, lifeless.
"How disrespectful! I will get an ounce of respect out of you before you die!"
The Third Raikage charged forward, hand back poised to strike. The Kage arrived at the assailant and jabbed his hand forward., he expected some sort of substitution jutsu, maybe some other form of teleportation.
A red chakra-blade shot out of the assassins' forearm, it had collided with the Raikages legendary spear jutsu and had, in fact, stopped it. A nasty hissing sound was heard as the two chakra blades collided. This was an absolute shock to the Third Raikage. He was watching his sides and had let his guard down up front. This was ample time for the Slayer to retaliate with his own attack. The Green Demon fired off a right-handed punch.
The retaliation punch from the Slayer was so fast that the Kage had no time to react. It shot straight though the Raikages chakra barrier and connected with his face.
'A' stumbled backwards but quickly regained composure. "What was that?" 'A' wondered. Taijutsu? Yes. But wind style was the only thing that could make it through the chakra shield? Was it some sort of wind style Taijutsu? 'A' wasn't sure. It's not possible that he broke through my defenses with just brute force is it? He focused his vision on this assassin, who had returned to his normal motionless state.
'A' was positive about one thing. He would have to be very careful. This was not just a regular shinobi.
The battle was too much. This warrior was nothing like anyone lord Third had ever seen. A normal shinobi is alert and always on the move. This one would have short bursts of speed and then return to a motionless state, or just move at a very slow pace. The speed this warrior when he was 'alive' was terrifying. Speed and the strength. He had in fact broken through the Raikages defenses with just sheer strength. Either that or there was more to his strength than the Raikage could figure out. 'A' had studied him, assessed every possible scenario and had learned from his opponent. (as any Kage would). He has figured out that the Slayer generally prefers Taijutsu and he has a hard punch, preferring to just use brute force whenever possible.
Then there was the ranged-jutsu he would use occasionally. It must have been some sort of Kekkei Genkai or possibly worse, a Kekkei Tota. Since the Raikage had never seen anything like it. His left hand would curl up slightly, possibly a handsign? It looked rather difficult to sign with the gauntlets he was wearing. Not to mention it appeared to be a one-handed sign, which was a feat in of itself. Anyway, the Slayer would 'sign' with his left hand and his right hand would charge up some kind of 'chakra' attack. These attacks were projectiles and the Kage Killer had perfect chakra control of them. He would switch between different "modes" in an instant. There was a scattershot mode, two fast-firing modes, one that would explode on contact and one that pierced through a person's defenses. Then there was a slower moving projectile that would explode massively when it hit something and finally a massive blast that appeared to be a fast beam that would just obliterate whatever it hit.
The Third Raikage had been overwhelmed. He had been defeated. He was on his hands and knees, panting heavily. His body dripped sweat and blood. "You have won..." He huffed.
The Kage Killer looked down upon the fallen Kage, he was motionless, just observing his prey.
"I have one final request... surely a man of your capabilities could accept this..."
The Green Demon's head tilted slightly.
"I want to see your face... The face of the man who bested me..."
The Slayers head tilted the other way, as if still seemingly confused. The Slayer finally responded...
He slowly shook his head 'no'.
The red blade appeared on his arm and he reached down to grab the Kage. Lord Third mustered up all the energy he could and unleashed two heavy blows. The first one knocked the facemask off. The second one was a slash from the Kage's spear.
The Slayer stumbled backwards and turned away as the Kage slumped over on his side. He was all out of chakra and energy.
The Slayer reached up slowly toward his face and then pulled his hand back to inspect it.
There was blood on his hand.
The Kage's spear had connected. The Kage Killer reached up and slowly pulled his hood down. Then he turned and faced lord third. "Ouch" - a single word from the Assassin.
"I-Impossible!" 'A' said. "How can you still be so young?!"
The Assassin took a step forward, He readied his chakra blade and glared at the Kage.
"Is that visual prowess? It doesn't look like a sharingan but I can't see it very well because of the glow. Are you Anbu from the leaf?"
The Slayer grabbed him by the throat and raised his blade. "Wh-what are you?"
As the Slayer laid the Third Raikage to 'rest', Anbu soldiers from the cloud village arrived on scene. They had witnessed the death but none were brave enough to interfere. There was a small circle of ninja surrounding the Slayer. They kept their distance; they were just making their presence known.
The Assassin reached down and picked up his mask. He placed a hand to his face and then proceeded to use his own blood to write the legendary symbol on the ground next to the body of the Third Raikage. Black smoke swirled around the Kage Killer as he placed his mask back on his face, and then he was gone.
The Fourth Great Ninja War has just begun. Many ninja are hustling about inside the Allied Shinobi Forces' Headquarters, they are preparing precious intel for the Kage as they plan their attack strategy. Just inside the entrance to the headquarters a black mist began to take form and began swirling around. The ninjas close enough stopped to observe, but most of the others continued hurriedly with their work. Out of the mist stepped the Green-Clad Assassin.
"What is this some sick joke?"
"Oh my god, It's him!"
"You can't be real?!"
All of these questions and gasps were heard as the Kage Killer moved through the headquarters. He moved with a purpose. He was looking for something, or possibly someone. The Slayer finally arrived at a giant door that was being guarded by two Anbu shinobi.
"Halt! Who are you? You can't be... here..."
The Slayer towered over the poor guard, staring into the ninjas' very soul. He then pushed the Anbu aside and threw the door open. He stood in the doorway and surveyed the area. Three of the five Kage were in the room, they were planning battle strategies with Shikaku Nara; Also, in the room was the Water sensing sphere and those needed to read it. Everyone turned to see who had dared to interrupt their meeting. There was a sudden pause for a moment, a second of disbelief and then that shattered as the Fourth Raikage hopped the table, yelled, and charged at the Assassin. The Slayer curled his left hand and then raised his right one. There was a flash of red light, and then silence.
Everyone was bound in red chains and the door was barred with similarly colored chains. Well, everyone except two people.
Iniochi Yamanaka and Shikaku Nara.
"I have not come for you Kage..." The Slayer spoke, he moved up to the Fourth Raikage and glared up at him. Since 'A' was one of the few people taller than the Slayer himself. "...But I can add you to my list"
A struggled and began yelling obscenities at the Slayer. "Settle down Raikage!" Tsunade called out.
"I agree. We all want him dead, but he will get what he deserves soon enough!" The old fence sitter said.
"Death is too good for him..." grumbled 'A'.
"I have come to reclaim what is mine... The souls of the dead..." The Slayer spoke once again. He continued to scan the room. His vision lingering on the current Kage for short periods, but noticeably longer on Lady Tsunade.
"Nara... Battleplan"
Shikaku, stuttered for a moment, but quickly recovered and then he hurried ran the Slayer through the battle plan. He was visibly sweating. And nervous. Something never seen in him.
After the explaining was finished the Slayer nodded slowly.
"Yamanaka..."
"Y-yes?"
"...Clan Technique?"
"Yes..."
Inoichi was still sitting with the massive facemask on, so he couldn't actually see the Slayer, but he could definitely feel his presence. The Slayer stood infront of Inoichi who was seated and then motioned for Shikaku to stand next to him.
"Select your Strongest Shinobi and make a connection. I will use some of your chakra to teleport to him to save my own for the battle ahead... Nara I suggest you warn them all."
The Slayer reached out and placed a hand on Inoichis' head and the other on Shikakus' shoulder. He fed the two very small amounts of chakra, just enough for them to get the message out.
"The Doom Slayer is REAL. He will be joining you on the battlefield DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT interfere with him."
That was the warning Shikaku spoke out to the masses of shinobis across the land.
"The link has been made I am ready Slayer..." Inoichi bit his upper lip, shuffling about slightly and preparing himself for the worst...
But it was not enough. Black swirling mist surrounded Shikaku and Inoichi. Both men began screaming out in pain as the slayer slowly started to fade from vision. At the last moment The Slayer turned his head toward the Kage and spoke six words that will haunt them for the rest of their lives.
"...There is work to be done..."
