Woods followed Kenzi down the street as soon as she emerged from Savina's place. Kenzi was on foot and Woods was not too far behind her. When Beatrice contacted Woods about the job of following Kenzi she said only to follow her and to keep her posted on her whereabouts, and if things became dangerous to call for help. Beatrice didn't say why she needed Kenzi followed but then again it wasn't his job to question why either. All he was told was to wait at Savina Yordanka's where they expected Kenzi to show up, and keep tabs on her from there. Right after speaking with Beatrice Woods put his gear in his truck, drove to the address Beatrice supplied, took up a stakeout position and settled in for the wait. He was glad he didn't have to wait too long for Kenzi showed up several hours later on foot which surprised Woods. Based on the stories he heard about Presidium he expected her to show up with an entourage, but instead she showed up alone and moved quickly inside the building.
A short while later Kenzi emerged from Savina's and quickly walked down a few blocks, making left and rights turns all the while. Woods was a bit surprised at how crafty, stealth-like Kenzi moved as he followed her turn for turn. Woods knew Kenzi was trained as a Shadow Thief by Dyson years ago, and before that she was a homeless pick-pocketer, but now there was a grace to her movements. Woods saw Kenzi approach the 800-foot long portal-style bridge that spanned the County's river and sat 150 feet above it. Woods thought she was about to cross the bridge when instead she took a sharp left. Woods had no clue where Kenzi was headed but he kept up his pursuit. He made the same turn, traversed down the stairs that led to a brief underpass and out to the walking path along the river, then took a few more steps and stopped. Kenzi was nowhere in sight. He quickly looked behind him then all around him. No sign of her. He doubted she had jumped over the wall and into the river because, she being human that would have been suicidal, but he looked over the river wall just to make sure. He looked around again and was about to turn back when someone came from behind, kicked his knees out from under him, stepped up behind him and put a knife to his throat.
"Well, hello Mr. Woods." Kenzi said.
"Is the knife to my throat necessary?" Woods asked.
"Depends. Why are you following me?" Kenzi countered.
"Really?"
"Really."
"Well, I guess there's no need to be shy about these things. Beatrice sent me." Kenzi rolled her eyes and then withdrew the knife from Woods' neck. He immediately checked to see if she drew blood. No blood. Then Woods stood up.
"Beatrice, huh? Did she tell you why she wanted you to follow me?"
"Only that I was to catch up with you at Ms. Yordanka's and follow you from there, and if you got into any trouble to holler for backup."
"Beatrice and her big mouth."
"Not that it's any of my business, but she sounded worried."
"If I'm out of Beatrice's sight for more than five minutes she gets worried."
"It's not as if she doesn't have a valid point."
"Very funny."
"Is there something going on? Need a little help?"
"I need you to get out of here." Kenzi warned.
"Why?"
"Because you're being followed." Kenzi replied, winked, then turned, ran up to the wall, jumped on top of it and then jumped off of it.
"Kenzi!" Woods exclaimed as he bolted to the wall and looked down. No sign of Kenzi anywhere.
"What the hell!" Woods said to himself as he looked harder hoping the waters would part to reveal something, anything of Kenzi. It was a futile effort though. It was dark. Kenzi was dressed in dark clothes. It would have been like the dark looking for the dark. Woods straightened himself up, turned around, and bumped right into a tall man, with short dark hair, light brown skin, with an immaculate goatee that merged with his sideburns, and he too was dressed in dark clothing. There was another man standing behind him. A big one. Woods focused back on the man he bumped into who looked down at him and when their eyes met the man's eyes shifted red.
"Okay, wait a minute! What the hell is going on?" Woods said defensively. The man said nothing but the redness in his eyes intensified. As Woods was attempting to calculate the ways he could extricate himself from this situation, a part of his mind focused on the face of the man and then Woods began to relax somewhat.
"Wait a minute! I remember you. You're one of The Queen's boys. Dakari is the name, right?"
"You mean Your Serene Highness." Dakari replied.
"Yeah, sorry." Woods said. Dakari he shifted his eyes back.
"And you are?" Dakari asked as he looked over the bridge wall at the river below.
"Woods. I was part of The Ash's security detail when The Queen met with the Elder Fae Council when she was here."
"I see."
"Are you here for Kenzi too?"
"We are in search of her."
"Is she in trouble?"
"We hope not." Dakari said then looked at Woods. "You can leave now. We can take it from here."
"Hey! I was…" Woods started but was met again with flashing red eyes again.
"Sorry…Your…Serene Highness but Beatrice told me to keep an eye on her."
"Beatrice?"
"Yeah. Besides, I can think we can find out where she might be headed next."
"We believe we already have an idea."
"Really, where?" Woods asked. Dakari looked at Woods, smiled slightly then turned to the very big Fae behind him.
"Bas Ramin, let Agents Korvo and Greystone know we are coming to them."
"Yes, Your Serene Highness."
"Care to join us…Woods?"
"I'm game!"
