Her arrival did not raise the same trepidation as it once did for the dragon who now merely accepted it As ambiance. What did break her from her napping torpor mid yawn was the brusque tone of voice Elsa took with her declaring that her purportedly protracted fast had come to an end.

Her face was contorted in discernible frustration accumulated by the weeks of denial from the dragon but it did not have the desired effects since the dragon continued studying her, features indecipherable.

As she quickly laid out various, vegetables, and to her visible disgust raw meats and fish the spirit knelt balancing delicately on the balls of her feet. "I don't understand, I've brought you everything I can think of, from desserts, to fruit, rice, wheat..." Running fingers through her hair didn't seem to displace the tresses further than the hike from the stream where she left Nokk due to his distrust for the dragon who also seemed to hold a similar disesteem toward him.

"... I implore you to just eat. You can't just live off of Bruni's snowflakes." As if to emphasize this point the dragon acted on her words sharing Bruni's already placed pile of snow. Watching them with hooded eyelids she rose when dragon took a sniff at the food then turned away quickly. Not swift enough however for Elsa to notice the same fear that entered her eyes when she attempted to touch her.

She stared at the spread. The dragon must have had a bad experience with food in the past, the same or similar type that led to her aversion to touch. Shaking her head Elsa picked up one of the vegetables. Elsa had already seen her try to hunt which was unsuccessful due to the injuries she wasn't allowed to tend to. Now led by desperation, Elsa lifted the vegetable to her mouth, when she was certain she had an audience took a bite while maintaining eye contact.

The dragon's ears twitched back to the front the twice more, placing her tongue back inside her maw, she let out a pitiful mewl.

That was... Something. Elsa just didn't understand what, whether to announce this silently as a victory or loss was undetermined.

Placing the bitten potato back down, she forced herself to swallow the bitter food and backed away slightly, an unnecessary precaution.

It was a victory! The dragon sniffed the root veg before taking it into her mouth chewing deliberately keeping her gaze on Elsa who kept herself from a happy adolescent squeal of delight. Her grin did attempt to reach both ears.

As an urgent afterthought she hurriedly albeit clumsier than she would have liked reached for her notebook, furiously scribbling.

July 12, first food intake: Raw potato. Eaten after example. Herbivore or omnivore. Undecided

The dragon blew white smoke from her nostrils over the other food.

Well if example was the only way to get the dragon to eat then an example Elsa would give.

She hung her head mumbling to herself before creating a knife perhaps more dull than it should have been to cut through the flank of salmon. She grimaced at the idea and promised to kick herself if this didn't work. She had long since discovered that meat had not agreed with her stomach nor tastes and avoided it when possible.

Taking a deep breath she held it as the slimly flesh was pressed between her teeth, lips lifting to avoid touching it as much as possible, she barely chewed before swallowing. It took a very determined amount of willpower to not shudder. An irrational fear that the dragon would surely take this as a sign of something being amiss.

She began swallowing all the saliva in her mouth trying to rid the taste out of it.

The dragon snatched the carved fish away. Elsa's attention was now completely on her as she burned the fish with a small flame cooking it before devouring the salmon with soft appreciative warbles.

Elsa's mouth gaped slightly, searching her memory for if she had- no she had given the dragon cooked food. She rubbed her face with harsh pressure banishing the idea that she had eaten raw fish for not.

No, there had been a reason. The dragon apparently did not trust enough to not be poisoned or most likely drugged.

It wasn't too far fetched of a conclusion she decided having seen many sovereigns have food tasted before deciding to partake. Either way the most important feat of the day was that she had finally eaten.

When her eyes darted to the elk meat then back to Elsa expecting the same treatment, that is where she had to draw the line. Defeated, she sighed. "I don't like meat. Please just eat." Narrowing her eyes the dragon regarded it carefully with a experimental lick.

Elsa's breath remained held until after a few tense moments where not even Bruni moved she gave the meat the same treatment as the fish and began eating. The amphibian joined his friend briefly, tongue punching the meal before deciding it wasn't for him and crawled up to Elsa's hair.

With the spread now gone the dragon settled on a sunspot stretching before laying on her side to turn over onto her back. She gave Elsa an upside down winsome smile chuffing breathly.

Elsa chuckled tilting her head in half attempt to put them at equal perspectives. Adorable over grown gecko. She understood a dismal when one was given and raised a hand gracefully standing leaving the dragon to sleep with a full belly for maybe the first time in weeks.

Elsa stood on the hill next to Nokk who neighed at sight of their home galloping straight towards it, her little haven, tucked away in the woods, bordering a large lake which fed into streams, to the ocean.

Elsa grinned, it had been two years since she built it but the same sense of accomplishment entered her as it always did whenever she stayed away for a period of time and returned.

It had a humble front yard, and a porch, below the porch was lined with healthy flower beds which Elsa kept with very careful tendance, above them was hanging plant beds resting in baskets that swung slightly whenever the wind or Gale passed through. The entire front was lightly guarded by a small crystalized ice fence centering at a spaced picket gate held shut by a small latch.

Bay windows which were only shut when she was away to allow Gale or Bruni free agency to come and go as they pleased, had the frames of dark wood stenciled with reinforced white ice.

She unfroze the rounded porthole shaped oak door stepping through into the front entry way.

An array of plants and flowers Elsa shared her home with hindered her from using her powers to much in the construction of her cottage. Anna had insisted on sending workers, Kristoff included to help when Elsa had finally chosen the location but she declined only accepting pieces of furniture, rugs and other house essentials Anna personally delivered and declared to be house warming gifts.

Still everytime she entered or dwelt in the abode Elsa had to admit the months of studying woodwork, and speaking with artisans of Arendelle helped bring her envisioning to fruition, having an already higher than average understanding of architecture also aided immensely.

A splashing sound drew her eyes to open area she refused to close off with walls connecting to outside of the lake. Nokk counted the water with his hooves clearly in a jovial mood. He dispersed into the waters after Elsa tenderly smoothed her palm along his snout.

The ice support beams upon the ceiling doubled as another storage means she could keep her plants not wanting to waste any space. The wooden steps creaked slightly under her weight when Elsa descended entering her study room. It took shape very similar to her old one which Anna had inherited. Elsa used a bit more of her magic, in the book shelves and desk facing the door.

Meticulously books where put away according to titles, genres, and dates they were written. Except one particular work. Anna had ordered for her to further her research. It was a Japanese legend of the supposed myths which were Eastern dragons, thankfully translated, from Corona. Elsa put writing a thankful letter to send to her cousin in her itinerary for later.

Carefully she opened the book where she had left off and began her research. Grand Pabbie was proven correct by the colorful illustrations of the serpent like dragons. Not that she had ever doubted the wise troll's words in the first place.

From her readings, oriental dragons were held in a higher esteem than their western cousins. Even considered by many to be the guardians of the heavens. What really garnered her interests was the stories and anecdotes about the dragons being protectors and controllers of both the weather and the very elements of earth, favored by wind and water. Are you a spirit of a different land?

It was difficult to believe that such powerful creatures who not only had immaculate abilities but very diligent followers, worshippers, were overtaken by dragonslayers armed with nothing but particularly hard weapons.

"What happened?" Elsa pondered allowed, sitting back in her chair. She glanced out to her right at the glass balcony double doors. It was an indulgent whim, but reminded her of the faithful awakening she had in her ice castle.

She stared at the book and her carefully crafted notes stacked in a neat pile beside it. None of it made sense to her. It was all so close in relation yet each piece of information couldn't seem to bridge the gap to properly form a correlation.

The dragon was not an Eastern dragon or at least didn't share their anatomy, yet supposedly came from the East, specifically Japan. The god-like dragons which fell victim to man's violent tendencies. How had they rallied enough support to begin the slaughter of dragons so long ago? How old was the dragon which seemed to narrowly evade the dragonslayers? Where did she really come from? How were there still dragonslayers with such expertise if dragons had been extinct for centuries?

As if sensing her stress a gust of wind blew through her papers nearly sending them off her desk if Elsa had not intervened placing her hands upon them. "Hey!" The wind blew through again this time more aggressively. "Gale!" She laughed as the spirit blew through once more twirling her hair high letting it drop against her back.

Now with her thoughts impeded Elsa ran gentle fingers in the wind. "Is this very disadvantages interruption a call for dinner?" Bruni climbed upon her desk, eyes irked. The sun had gone down, a tell of the hours she had spent reading and writing. An impatient neigh resonated through the hall.

Accepting defeat and being outnumbered Elsa rose stretching her cracking bones. "Alright, alright. I'm coming down."

It was a peaceful ritual the spirits developed together in the evenings they spent in their home.

Elsa would cook in the kitchen listening to Bruni irritate Nokk by either setting something aflame which Nokk would irritably extinguish or by climbing upon the water horse alit causing steam to resonate off him.

They continued the games while Elsa sat at the small round dining table either engrossed by a book or watching silently content to not pick sides unlike Gale who would intervene occasionally, defending who they deemed in the wrong at their whim. Usually it was Nokk.

Elsa then cleaned the kitchen as well as the dishes and made her way upstairs to her room.

It was this room she made almost entirely of ice, minus the books upon her shelf and thin sheet she used to cover herself at night, more so out of habit and comfort than to actually conceal warmth.

More of Anna's art littered her walls, with pictures sketched by Arendelle and Northuldran children.

After exiting her washrooms hair wet from bathing Elsa sat at her vanity brushing the long locks. This part of her evening always pulled her thoughts to Anna. A bittersweet small smile graced her lips as she thought of the nights her queen would brush her hair, sometimes lovingly, and other times teasingly.

"I don't even know why you bother brushing it, miss 'my hair never tangles.'"

Elsa hummed placing the brush down.

Once in bed she managed to get in an hour of reading the book which sat on her nightstand under the light of a snowflake hovering above her head till fatigue got the better of her claiming the spirit for the rest of night. Bruni nestled in her hair.

A loud bang sent Bruni flying across the bed sheet when Elsa bolted upright chest heaving from the fright it gave her. They exchanged glances then raced downstairs as the knocks grew more anxious the longer she took.

She peeked through a small hole and was about to answer when she realized she was in a simple white slip. "Just a second!" She called creating a white robe to tie around herself in maintaining modesty.

"Ah Elsa thank goodness you're home." Ryder panted. She took in his appearance. Covered in black smoke spots, disheveled clothes rumpled.

Elsa's eyes slowly panned up above his head to see a large black plume cloud circling blotting out the sky.

Nokk bayed and ran through the living room wetting the floors to the front door.

As they rode towards the cloud, Ryder updated Elsa as best he could upon Emil. "The herd was separated at Eastern point but we managed to get one half clear but the fire is spreading too quick for anyone to safely put it out."

A dark, low hanging smoke perfumed the forest suffocating life out as animals fled in various directions, Elsa and Ryder coughed drawing near. White blazed from her arms which extended in whatever way flames tried to devour the foliage.

Ryder took her upon a high hill so as to see the depth of the destruction moving rapidly across the land. They saw briefly Gale gust the heat towards water sources working quickly, smaller pyres were easily snuffed out.

Rock trolls carried the frightened Northuldrans and some reindeer high above and away from danger. Others who were not providing transportation gathered dirt in their palms scattering it across the ground in powerful throws.

"Make sure everyone gets to safety, and steer clear. Move them towards Arendelle if things get out of hand." Elsa's unshakable voice spoke above the blizzard that was forming cooling the already putrid hot air.

Snowfall moistened his already damp cheeks, whether it be from crying or from the tears jerked by the smoke Elsa could not tell.

"But what about the other half of the herd!" He yelled over the growing winds of hail and sleet. "I'll find them. Now get out of here!"

With that said a short hesitation from him was given before he spurred Emil into a retreat to fulfill Elsa's orders.

Navigating down into the valley and forest she dismounted Nokk allowing him the ability to drown the flames much easier. Bruni leapt from her shoulder seeking out the fire's sources, guiding Elsa to wherever they needed to be quenched. Her snowfall and winds covered more ground than she was able on two legs or by sliding along the frost covered surfaces. Her winter gales had unfortunately covered the south end of the forest in blankets of snow as Elsa followed Bruni closely, pelting branches of trees or anything else which had caught fire with rapid blue and white swirls.

The spirits worked in a circle containing the disaster to a choke point to cease its spread.

A very large clump of earth hurtling towards Elsa was blocked by an ice wall as she ducked avoiding debris littering across.

A branch snapping was the only warning Elsa had as an arrow directed towards her.

Before she could bring up another protective block reflexively the head of the weapon deflected against an armored scaled chest.

The dragon roared in the direction of the trajectory, breath hot against the cold air, standing to full height akin to a bear, wings beating furious winds, tail thrashing out behind her.

Her scales individually rubbed against their neighbor creating distinct dangerous low rattling almost hissing warning.

It had nearly muted the noise of breaking bushes and thicket. Glancing at each other they took after the fleeing assailant. Who now rode away on horseback.

Elsa aimed after the attacker but her arms fell once he disappeared from sight. Resting her hands on her knees she bent over to catch her breath.

She'd get them later, there was a reason they attacked her and she had a sneaking suspicion it had to do with the fire as well.

This wasn't over.

The dragon continued further snorting but she too had to end the pursuit sitting down allowing her limp leg to sprawl out. She rested her head upon her paws huffing in short spurts.

Wanting to examine the damage Elsa slowly rid her magic in the environment packaging it in a giant snowflake neatly before breaking it down to mere dust which lingered in the air.

Tired, she leaned against a tree sliding down to ground dipping her head low and her arms upon her knees. Bruni climbed upon her leg and titled his head nuzzling her limp fingers.

Elsa's mind tried to process the night as she stood as sluggish her attempt was.

Whatever the causes her questions were about to be answered when 20 minutes later a reindeer below rang out from a distance. Elsa squinted past the smokey haze Gale had yet to blow away.

Ears tuning into the noise the dragon rose but fell back down once more. Less graceful than her usual movements she clambered to her feet ignoring Elsa's protest who jogged toward her and limped off deeper into the wood.

"Elsa!" A voice called. Soon the spirit was enveloped in an embrace from behind. Breaking from her stupor Elsa turned in Honeymaren's arms returning the hug. Ryder's arms enveloped both of them tightly.

"Are you alright?" Elsa unaware that she had even been unable to speak meekly nodded. As if not believing her the siblings checked her over for injury but found nothing but her soot stained robe and skin.

"Is anyone injured?" She asked finding her voice once more.

"Everyone got away unharmed." Yelena's revelation gave the spirit an unspoken invitation to seat herself upon a fallen tree in a heap.

Honeymaren continued rubbing her back in soothing circles as the three allowed their exhausted friend to collect herself.

"The fire grew while we slept awoken by the cries of our animals." Yelena began. "It grew at unnatural speeds as if we had happened upon a dry season similar to the flames that overtook Arendelle some weeks ago..."

Gasping at the implications Elsa stood and took a couple careful steps towards the elder. "When the fire settled I was attacked by a mysterious figure in black and grey cloaks..." Ryder and Honeymaren shared worried glances, not used to the intensity Elsa spoke her convictions in. "The dragon who is taking shelter in the forest came to my aid. We chased them but the assailant fled."

They all took in the new intel. It certainly complicated things.

"Where's the dragon?" Ryder's worried voice cut the tension as Emil drew closer to him less for her comfort than it was for his.

"She went back to her den..." A worried shake resounded in her tone.

"I'll gather capable warriors and we'll hunt down this attacker." Honeymaren reported her palms closing in shaking fists. Before departing upon Erin she rested a hand on Elsa's sagged shoulders offering a placating smile.

"Get some rest Elsa, you've done more than enough." But it wasn't enough. Not only did she have to worry about whether these men had been possibly involved with the dragonslayers, but now they had gotten away from her and showed a promising tendency for arson.

Ryder spoke up again offering an escorting arm to Yelena. "We'll gather those who don't join us to salvage what they can and take damage reports." Yelena joined him on his small cart.

Nodding Elsa spoke up as an after thought. "Perhaps I'll join you to get some medical supplies... If they're available."

Ryder perked up before reaching behind. "Sure! We didn't know quite what to expect so Honeymaren brought this just in case." He handed over a small box which Elsa gratefully took.

"Honeymaren is correct Elsa," she said taking the younger's hand gently as if sensing the reckless aura she endowed. "Please rest, we can discuss more tomorrow morning."

Elsa watched them ride off, box clutched to her chest when a wet nose pressed into her shoulder earning a gentle stroke. Kneeling Nokk steadied as Elsa swung herself onto his back.

Rest. Shaking her head Elsa spurred him off toward the Drage's den.

She'd do anything but.

The dragon despite her best efforts wasn't able to make it to her den. Elsa's heart for her broke when witnessed her leg shake from the strain of being dangled above the ground while she hobbled further on three legs.

She can't go on like this.

Making her presence known Elsa broke from the treeline. The dragon puled pathetically at her, ear appendages flattening against her head.

Looking down at the ground Elsa held up her hand showing her intentions. As if sensing a promise breaking the dragon tried to gather herself continuing her cries.

The louder they grew the more Elsa's hand trembled.

"Where the north wind meets the sea.."

Her fruitless escape attempts ceased upon hearing the Spirit's melodious voice regarding her with large pupils.

"There's a river full of memories..." Elsa's voice cracked from the emotion welling in her throat but her audience didn't seem to mind as she drew closer.

"Sleep, my darling safe and sound." She looked over her injurious leg, reaching into the box. She beckoned Nokk over and when the horse refused to come closer to the beast. Elsa looked over her shoulder whispering. "Please..."

Snorting rather dramatically he walked over offering his mane to the cloth she held.

When it was drenched he gained distance again quite hurried to get away.

The dragon complained again, Elsa cooed gently lifting the rag to the wound. "For in this river all is found."

Cleaning it as gently as she could she hummed the hymn, wincing whenever a high whine was released. Slowly the puss, and dried blood rinsed away.

After some prompting the dragon lifted her leg while Elsa carefully wrapped it round her mid thigh.

"In her waters, deep and true- You know," she started, while focusing on her work. "I have an idea of what to name you. I just need to double check my sources before I tell you."

The dragon chuffed sounding a bit more sanguine than prior. "Lie the answers and the path for you."

"I'll fix that too if you'll allow me." Elsa said mid hum. The dragon looked to her gestured wing lifting it up, the moonlight shined through the gap on the ground in a near perfect circle.

As if more curious than anything by her process the dragon offered her wing to Elsa once her leg was securely wrapped.

Elsa felt a swell of pride as her dragon seemed less tightly wound. She gauged the wing's membrane elasticity and structure with rapt heed.

Closing her eyes, Elsa heard a surprised guffaw as her magic overtook the hole enclosing it. Blue and white swirls connected the sinews together before settling.

Bruni climbed upon the wing inspecting her work. He licked the icy dust before Elsa picked him up wagging a humourous finger in his face.

"Besides, Olaf, Marshmallow, and my palace, I'd say this is one of my better works. Wouldn't you agree Nokk?" The horse rebuked her trotting in a circle.

Slowly both wings rose as the dragon tested it tilting toward the wind. Elsa backed away giving her space to fully extend them.

She was not expecting the dragon who wiggled her rear end to bound into the sky gaining altitude, taking off eastward with a spin, voice exploding in the air with a victorious drum, before Elsa could even utter a 'Wait.'

She stood there hopeless among the flying dust and leaves. Her breathing wanted to quicken to compensate for her thundering heart.

She tried to calm shakily sitting down on the ground by the waterfall.

Everything caught up, the fires, the damaged forest, the attempt made upon her life, the last existing Dragens lys having had just left. She had failed Grand Pabbie and Bulda who trusted her, having lost the last bit of pure light in the world. When her brain settled on the many problems which all lacked viable solutions stinging tears pooled in her corneas and fell turning into full sobs.

She hugged herself as she crumpled.

Nokk approached slow not disturbing the fragile air that surrounded the woman. Bruni rested his small head on her lap.

A snowfall began to fall around them. It was quiet and small, as if reflecting Elsa's last spent energies. A hard cry hurt the muscles in her chest as it tried keeping up with her haggard hiccuping breaths.

Nokk backed away, but Elsa hadn't the strength to open her eyes. She snorted, nose congested.

A gentle pressure rested atop her head. Elsa's shot nerves jumped at the feeling which lifted when she lurched upward.

Paw still suspended in the air held still while Elsa roughly wiped away her tears and mucus on her robe sleeve to get a better look at the dragon, who sat beside her tail curled around them. Elsa blinked a couple times as if she hadn't believed her vision.

She watched her before resuming to pet Elsa's hair tenderly.

Elsa's heart beat slowed to a reasonable tempo as she curled her knees closer to her chest. Elsa closed her eyes once more testily leaning against the dragon's side...

Her brain deemed rest the priority as it packaged all the worry and stress away finally emptying enough to allow Elsa sleep.
