Chapter 258: Paul Imprinted on Rachel
Our days slowed down now that there were no more vampires to kill, and Bella Swan had left Forks and moved to Alaska with the Cullens. Thankfully, I was able to write everything I knew about the Breaking Dawn plotline to Bella, suggestions on she should do if she does proceed with her pregnancy with Renesmee. I also wrote down that Garett mate is one of the sisters from the Denali Clan, and the hybrids or dhampirs in Brazil if they wanted to get more information about dhampirs. Jake gave me Bella's email even though he was suspicious of why I wanted to email her. I just told him that I wanted to give a graduation gift to Bella and wish her well with her new future. Jake accepted that excuse. Jake was able to say his goodbyes and wished Bella well with her new life with the Cullens. Bella wanted to keep in contact with Jake once she turned, but Jake rejected it. He didn't want to keep having lingering feelings regarding Bella, and he wanted a clean break from her once and for all. Surprisingly, Bella accepted it and left quietly. Charlie didn't understand why Jake didn't want to go with her to the airport to see Bella off, but Charlie accepted Jake's decision.
Few weeks later, Rachel Black came to visit for the summer. She came for few weeks before she returns to school. She was different from what I expected. She wanted to come back to the tribe. She only left for school. She didn't want to be like her sister Rebecca who abandoned her and Jake.
From what I heard; it was awkward around the house. Rachel mostly spoke with her father Billy unlike Jake. It was like she was afraid. Especially from how big he had grown. She thought he was taking steroids or something, but with her father's advice, she stopped pressing Jake for information. It was only few days later when she had a heart-to-heart conversation with Jake. She felt terrible, leaving Jake to take care of their father while she was having the best time of her life at college. She got the chance to explore the world, make friends, and learn many things. She knew it was messed up that she only made phone calls for the past few years. The more she stayed in college, the harder it was to return home because she would have to deal with the fact that she was no different from her twin sister Rebecca.
The only reason that she finally visited was encouragement from her counselor in her university. When she first moved away from the reservation, she had a difficult time transitioning. She was both elated and tired. She worked so hard to leave the reservation that when she actually did, she fell apart. She was burned out. She didn't understand, so she started seeing a counselor. After multiple counseling sessions, she was able to realize that she had a burn out because she had been on survival mode since the passing of her mother. She had to be a mother figure to Jake, a nurse to her crippled father, and a student. It made sense of why she had a burn out.
Once she worked through her traumas, she was able to make a phone call back home. As she got comfortable, she decided to return home with encouragement of her counselor. Jacob heard her story, and he was able to forgive her eventually. Jacob told her how it was alone in the reservation. Slowly, there relationship began to get better.
One day when Rachel was at the beach, she ran into Paul. That was when Paul imprinted on Rachel. Jacob wanted to kill Paul, but of course he couldn't with Sam alpha command him to stop. Jacob just got his sister back, and now he has to let her go to Paul. It took time for Jake to come around, but eventually the council and the pack finally told the truth to Rachel. She was terrified out of her mind and relieved. She thought Jake and his friends were in some type of gang with Sam as their leader. That's why she stayed away from the pack no matter how many times, Claire and Kim invited her.
It took some time for Rachel to come around. It took two months for Rachel to like Paul and our company. Paul says things without holding back punches. He just says things as it is, and it helped Rachel to come out of her shell with the pack. I waited to speak to Paul until I saw that Rachel began to see Paul in a different light.
Paul came to my house. Sam and I were sitting in the loveseat together with Paul sitting across from us in the reclining chair.
Paul seemed nervous, but I wasn't sure why.
I started off saying, "there's a reason that I asked you to come over today..but its nothing bad."
Paul nodded as he stares at the ground.
I said, "I..knew that Rachel was your imprint, but I didn't tell you because I wanted you to bond each other naturally. I didn't want to put pressure on you and Rachel as a newly imprinted pair."
Paul nodded slowly, "I appreciated that. It helped me to love her naturally instead of feeling it was forced because I already knew beforehand."
I nodded. I said, "remember my old house that was cleaned out when I first moved in with Sam?"
He said confused, "yeah?"
I said, "well..I cleaned my place out, so I can give my old house for you and Rachel to live in."
Paul was in shock. He stammered, "b-but why me?"
I said with a small smile, "I knew that once you start courting Rachel like a lover, it would be hard to be intimate in Black's house and your own place..I know things aren't so good with Jake right now and seeing you intimate with his sister in front of him will just irritate him more. Not only that, I wanted to help you and Rachel to get a start in your life together.."
I paused, "the old house..is not truly mine, but it will be a waste to sell it . So why not give it to an imprint couple in the pack? I think Alegria and her ancestors will be more than honored to have an imprint couple using their home."
Paul was stunned. He didn't say anything. He just stared at Sam in disbelief. Sam said smirking, "just take the damn house, Paul. Don't think too hard on it."
Paul nodded slowly. I glanced at Sam if it was okay for me to hug him. He nodded, so I got up, and on my knees, I wrapped my arms around Paul. He stiffened from the sudden hug, but he didn't push me or display discomfort, so I knew he was thankful.
I said kindly, "you're pack, Paul. We take care of one another. You worked hard for this pack. Take this gift not just from me, but as a way the spirits are blessing your bond with Rachel."
He isn't the type to display his feelings, but I knew he was very grateful. He said quietly, "thank you."
I pulled out my house keys and placed it in his hands. He stared at it until he held it together close to his heart. I pulled my arms away as Paul straightened his back.
He told both me and Sam confidently, "I'll never forget this gift. Thank you, Alpha and Alpha Female."
We both nodded. Paul got up and quietly left the house. I watched Paul held the house keys as if it was most precious thing in the world and disappear deep into the forest.
Sam came behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. He said, "I'm thankful that I got a kindhearted mate."
I turned around to hug Sam back. I don't have anymore worries regarding Rachel and Paul. Now, my focus is whether we will hear back from the Cullens or not. It was August. I remember it was around this time that Bella got pregnant. I believed she was changed few days before her birthday in September. If I don't hear anything about them in this month and the next, then we will get passed the plot from Breaking Dawn.
Author's Note:
I had neglected this story since I created my third story, and I had a writer's block. I feel inspired for this story again. I'll post the next chapter or so by the end of this week.
Enjoy!
