#106: Rainy Night
Prompted By: hollihazelle
A decade after Sozin's Comet, Azula and Ty Lee leave a restaurant in Ba Sing Se on a dark night. As soon as they step outside and begin to walk, the sky opens up and rain begins to pour.
"I despise rain. This truly is a dreadful city," Azula bitterly complains as she quickens her pace to avoid touching water.
"I love it." Ty Lee spins in circles as a flurry of droplets pounds against her damp skin.
"Hurry, soldier," Azula orders, and Ty Lee does obey, but she still prances through the escalating downpour. Other pedestrians have umbrellas, and she cannot stand how it makes her appear unprepared and weak. "Ty Lee, we look ridiculous because of you."
Ty Lee freezes in place. "Wha-what am I doing, princess?"
"Smiling at this inconvenience and behaving like a child," Azula icily replies, brushing her now-damp bangs out of her face. Ty Lee tries to look apologetic, but she begins to giggle. Azula rolls her eyes. "We are not far from my Uncle's hovel. Just run like a warrior instead of skipping."
Ty Lee holds out her hand. "Will you please pull me through, princess."
Azula regally sighs and makes a grand point about her generosity when she seizes Ty Lee by the soft, strong wrist.
"If it makes you faster."
And with that, they bolt through the rain. It pounds almost as fiercely as hail and Ty Lee bursts into giggles again, because she cannot help but find running through the rain on the glamorous streets of Ba Sing Se super fun. Azula grinds her teeth at the display of weakness.
Ty Lee hops over a puddle and Azula loses her footing for a flicker of a second. She swiftly catches herself and immediately regains her composure. But, there she stands, under the moonlight and the thick, dark clouds. Ty Lee looks remarkably good soaked and trying so hard not to keep making those sickeningly cute windchime noises.
Azula crushes her lips against Ty Lee's.

When they finally make it back to the Jasmine Dragon, the two young women are soaking and shivering. Ty Lee still keeps laughing; Azula has warmed slightly to the idea of rain, a concept enforced by a few quick touches and kisses.
"I made you both tea," announces Iroh, interrupting the glowing vibe between the women. "Chamomile."
"Always chamomile. Only for me," Azula snaps, wringing out her shirt and stepping away from Ty Lee. "I probably will not burn this place to the ground while you sleep if you fail to tranquilize me."
Iroh changes the subject with, "Did you two have fun before the storm?"
"It was an adequate night," Azula coldly replies while Ty Lee pours two cups of tea and begins edging her way towards the guest bedroom. "Now, I will change into dry clothes and go to sleep."
Azula brushes off her annoying uncle, follows her girlfriend and takes her own cup. They sit down on the bed, not bothering to change out of their wet clothes. In silence, Azula observes Ty Lee vigorously attempting to down the hot tea in one gulp.
"I think chugging chamomile tea lessens its effects," remarks Azula.
Ty Lee finishes her last sip, smiles, and lies down in a soaking puddle, nestled against her girlfriend. They linger there for a long while before Azula abandons her tea and finds dry pajamas.
Tonight could have been worse, Azula decides.
