Dr. Lavoie tore down the dark road in his black, Bugatti Chiron while his wife held on.

"I told you we should've made excuses not to attend dinner." Margot said.

"It would have looked conspicuous if we hadn't." Vespy replied.

"What are we going to do now?" Margot asked.

"Set our plans in motion." Vespy replied.

"That will trigger a war, Vespy."

"Not if we play our cards right."

"Just right you mean."

Dr. Lavoie tore around a corner, and shifted gears, propelling the car even faster.

"Where are we going?" Margot asked.

"To Zandri." Vespy replied.

"Shouldn't we head home first?"

"I need to secure some things there first, and then call for our allies. Prepare them to act in the next few days."

"Can't we call ahead?"

"I don't want to risk it. With Karen arrested…"

"Lauren."

"Yes, yes. With Lauren now arrested it will only be a matter of time before more of the Presidium shows up."

"If only you had been less arrogant with Her Royal Highness."

"We would've been fine had it not been for Lauren being arrested tonight."

"I wonder who alerted the police that she was even in the country let alone home?" Margot asked.

"Well, whoever did it has accelerated my plans."

"This is going to be awful! Seizing control of both Zandri and the Plato Foundation in the dead of night. From our dearest friends."

Dr. Lavoie shifted gears as he tore around a corner.

"We knew this day might come. The day they would find out we were Fae."

"But how would they know?" Margot asked.

"if they didn't know before we arrived for dinner they will surely know by now. Her Royal Highness will have no choice but to tell them once we act."

"Aside from the fact there was more Fae in that house tonight than Humans!" Margo said. Vespy grunted a chuckle.

"Are you sure there's no other way?" Margot asked.

"We can no longer do this delicate dance. I have to ensure my part in the plan is secure."

Dr. Lavoie shifted gears again as he approached a long corner turn that straightened into a longer road. Dr. Lavoie was about to put the car in high gear when he and Margot saw another car ahead parked on the edge of the road with its lights flashing.

"Should we stop and help?" Margot asked.

"No. We need to keep going."

Dr. Lavoie passed the car slowly to see the driver had the trunk opened, and was bent over pulling out a tire as they slowly passed by.

"Looks like he's has a flat tire. He'll be fine." Vespy commented then sped up. Just as Dr. Lavoie was about to put the car in a higher gear, a car broadsided them from the left, knocking Dr. Lavoie's car like a marble off the road, and flipping it into the woods. After several flips it finally landed on it wheels.

Dr. Lavoie didn't know how long he was out or how long in the woods, but he could clearly tell he couldn't move. Even with the seatbelts the force of the broadside had tossed him and Margot like rag dolls. He looked over at his wife, her eyes open and bone protruding out the side of her neck. She was dead. Tears flooded his eyes as he went into momentary shock at the sight of his dead wife. He called out her name in vain, cried a bit more then reached over with his right hand and closed her eyes. He then coughed heavily and felt pain everywhere. He gurgled and brought his right hand up to see that he was coughing up blood. He exhaled and then fumbled with his own door when he felt a sudden, sharp pain and screamed. He quickly discovered his left shoulder was shattered and his left leg was broken. He looked around for his cell phone and that of his wife's both in vain. He painfully looked around and saw the dim headlights of the car they had passed by and started to yell in the hopes the driver heard his voice in the echo of night. He went about this for about for a while but didn't hear any rustlings. He then allowed his head to fall back onto the headrest so he could think about what to do next when he started to hear rustlings nearby. He called out again, and this time a voice responded.

"I'm coming!" The male voice said. Dr. Lavoie collapsed back in his seat in relief.

The approaching male had a flashlight and was swinging it around.

"I'm here! Over here!" Dr. Lavoie called out. The man came up to care and beamed the flashlight directly into his face. He held up his right hand to block the light, but instead of the man coming to him he went around the car with the flashlight to the passenger side where his wife was.

"That's my wife! She's dead." Dr. Lavoie said though the beam of the flashlight. The man used the flashlight quickly examine her just to make sure then rounded the car back to the driver's side.

"Hey! Do you have a cell phone? We need to call an ambulance. I can't move my shoulder or my left leg."

The man bent over and pulled away the flashlight. Dr. Lavoie squinted for a moment and then his eyes refocused.

"I am glad you heard me yelling."

"I'm sure you are, Dr. Lavoie." A second male voice behind the man with the flashlight said as he walked into view.

"Caiden!" Dr. Lavoie shouted out.

"You were about to go off and start a war weren't you Doctor?" Caiden queried.

"What do you mean?" Dr. Lavoie protested.

"Your plans have been exposed to the Her Royal Highness and her allies." Caiden replied.

"How do you know that?" Dr. Lavoie asked.

"We are resourceful, Doctor. You know that." Caiden replied.

"Well, if you know that then you know I had no choice! What was I was supposed to do? Get captured?" Dr. Lavoie asked.

"You got caught, Doctor. Now we need you to get gone before you expose us and our plans any further by triggering a war between Humans and Fae." Caiden replied.

"A war would be triggered only if I played my cards poorly."

"And that you already have, without so much as the deck being delt." Then Caiden straightened himself. "Goodbye, Doctor!"

"Wait!" Dr. Lavoie pleaded but before he could protest any further the man who held the flashlight dropped it to the ground and the last thing Dr. Lavoie saw was a hand go over his mouth and another pinch his nose.
