another chapter touch-up and revision. believe me when I say that I plan to touch-up all of the chapters of my newly retitled fanfiction, 'The Heartless Timing of Life'. this new third chapter is a measly four-hundred-ninety-seven words worth of pure storyline... words which don't include this headnote, right here, or the mandatory disclaimer which makes up the following paragraph. yes, I did call the disclaimer for this fanfiction mandatory. I know it's a lot to say that a disclaimer is mandatory, but for my fanfictions as of late, mandatory is exactly how necessary a disclaimer is. OK, enough chatter. on with the disclaimer, itself.

disclamation: I don't own the 'Pokémon' anime in any way, shape, or form. I'm afraid that the ownership rights of that, the manga, and the games are reserved for Satoshi Tajiri and the folks of the Nintendo Gaming Company. yes, I know that the creator of 'Pokémon' has the same name as Ash Ketchum's name in the raw Japanese dub is. I don't even own this fanfiction's own storyline. the storyline for this very fanfiction has been inspired by a tween-friendly Korean cartoon under the series title of 'Flowering Heart'.

Mairin was pretty broken up about not getting to spend any more time with Jean Paul, anyway.

Mairin: No fair, I thought the flight to Solaris Island was at least another hour or more.

Alain: Well, I suppose it was just meant to last only that much longer.

Professor Sycamore: Actually, it's because Solaris Island is a lot closer to mainland Kalos than you two seemed to think it was. It's really just off of the coast, despite its tropical climate.

Sophie: Indeed, I can't wait to get some time off at Mairin's aunt and uncle's beach house.

The entirety of the research laboratory staff all had soon made it to Mairin's Aunt Kimberly and Uncle Raymond's beach house in record time, thanks to Mairin's Uncle Raymond, who was driving the 'Solaris Island Tours' tour bus to he and his wife's beach house. He looked just like a man in his mid to late thirties. His hair was a deep dark shade of a dirty blonde, and his eyes were a light tint of brown resembling that of Mairin's.

Uncle Raymond: My little niece, Mairin, is already an assistant to the leading researcher in all of Kalos, Professor Sycamore. I'm so proud of you, Mairin.

Mairin: Thanks, Uncle Ray. But you should really give that pride to the rest of the staff at Professor Sycamore's lab.

Mairin's Aunt Kimberly was waiting to give them some local berries from the market. She also looked to be about her mid to late thirties. She had dark magenta locks of hair which resembled Mairin's hair, only silkier and more luxurious. Her eyes were a slightly darker shade of grey than the norm for grey eyes.

Aunt Kimberly: Mairin, how's my favorite niece? You and the rest of the research lab's staff must be hungry from your seaplane trip here. I have some mago and pinap berries, fresh from the farmer's market here on Solaris Island.

Mairin: Thanks a lot, Aunt Kim. You're still the absolute best aunt ever.

Alain was slightly confused by the fact that her Aunt Kimberly and Uncle Raymond seemed to look a lot more like Mairin than even her own parents had. Mairin's mom had dark charcoal grey hair and crystal blue eyes. Her dad had dark brown hair with peridot green eyes. Her older brothers, a pair of twins, looked more like her parents than she did. It seemed more and more to Alain like Mairin was so naïve, that she did not seem to actually know who her own parents even were.

Alain wanted to find out more about this matter, which he decided he would act upon later, for Mairin's sake, not her supposed aunt and uncle's. He would wait for the right moment to question the two of them about their relationship to their so-called 'niece'. He would question their relationship and connections to his friend when Mairin was well enough away from them to not hear what he was gonna ask.
