*RIIIIIIIIIIIIIING*

A certain white haired girl yawned.

*RIIIIIIIIIIIIIING*

Her blue eyes opened and closed continuously as if wanting to chase after that dream full of food.

*RIIIIIIIIIIIIIING*

She trashed, perceiving the phone tone as a threat to her sacred sleep.

*RIIIIIIIIIIIIIING*

Finally, she got fed up and in an indignant growl, she stood up and grabbed the damned phone.

"What?!... The password? Oh. Yeah this is Devil May Cry. A job? And it's in this city? Okay, we'll do it."

The girl sighed. Normally, she'd be all up for a good fight but it was in the middle of the night! She'd get cranky if she doesn't get her 10 hour sleep plus naps and no one wants a cranky Kaslana.

So she chose Option Number One.

"Old geezer! You have a gig!"

At the lack of an answer, she quickly went towards where her 'guardian' would sleep and, unsurprisingly, wasn't there.

"For the love of… even my dad would be back at this time!" The little lady paused for a minute. "If he didn't fucking dissapear on me. Jeeze, those two guys would be twins even if they negate it. Those two deadbeats..."

With no responsible, or even irresponsible, adult there, the girl went on to search something.

Said something being a pair of beautifully crafted handguns, one black and another white.

"... He even left Ebony and Ivory here. And are those fully loaded magazines? Must be for me, considering I can't create ammo from magic. Anyways, someone must be responsible for the expenses."

Kiana Kaslana, scion of the House of Kaslana, aspirant Honkai Hunter and apprentice of the Legendary Devil Hunter, prepared herself for what would be a loooooong hunting night.

"Wish it would have been at day." She yawned

Honkai Will Cry

Honkai, alternatively called Collapse, is a mysterious but persistent phenomenon. It isn't completely understood why but it apparently seeks the extinction of the human race by whatever means possible.

Natural disasters, plagues, radiation, zombies, beasts… you name it. At certain points, the Honkai will attempt to possess particular humans in order for them to become its heralds or Herrschers (Rulers) and gift them incredible powers of apocalyptic might to make the extermination of humanity much easier. The destruction of Berlin and the general desolation of Russia and its surroundings of Asia were the results of the birth of those Herrschers.

However, it's not that easy to create a Herrscher. Not only does the subject have high adaptability to the Honkai but the concentration of Honkai energy needs to be high enough to concentrate into a solid Core or Gem, it being the source of the Herrscher's power, their link to Honkai hive mind and the vessel of their soul.

Due to those restrictions, either people die and become living dead (Zombies) or they gain powers but not develop a Herrscher Core or its incomplete (Pseudo-Herrscher), both equally subservient to the Honkai anyways.

Outbreaks of Honkai or Eruptions happen periodically in order for Herrschers to be birthed as well as kill thousands of people in the process, a win-win for the Honkai.

Unfortunately for the Honkai, humanity is not entirely defenseless. In its collective DNA, exists the genetic codes for Stigmata: special antibodies that give their users increased Honkai resistance and physical strength as well as record entire bloodlines worth of genetic data. Not to talk about weapons and other technologies left over from an extinct advanced civilization of millenia ago like the almighty Divine Keys made from Herrscher Cores and Soulium nanometal.

Or just people with enough guts/madness as well as natural might and/or training with natural Honkai resistance and no fancy superweapons or Stigma that fight Honkai personally. Mano a mano.

Since the first person to awaken Stigmata in this Era, humans have been organizing, preparing in order to hunt and kill their natural predators. No matter the age or nationality, these Hunters, like it or not, became humanity's first and last line of defense against extinction, something conventional militaries would fail at, especially considering Honkai's escalating nature in response to civilization's advancement, explaining partially why solo Hunters or specialized militias are the go to response to any supernatural catastrophe.

Some Hunter bloodlines working under the Catholic Church founded the anti-Honkai organisation Schicksal after the dissolution of the Roman Empire. Their formidable might, coming from powerful Stigmata carriers as well as stocks of Previous Era technology, made Schicksal one of the most powerful factions of Europe, overruling even the actual Church. All this made Schicksal's history one full of blood and corruption despite also accumulating centuries of heroics.

Schicksal's failed invasion of Shenzou (China) at the hands of its guardian deity and immortal Hunter, Jingwei (Phoenix), as well as their experiments with dangerous Honkai tech resulting in plagues, both in a greedy search for power are but an example of how low humanity's strongest fell. Due to disagreements of that nature, in the second half of the 20th century, Schicksal's North American branch rebelled and separated from the main organization and renamed itself Anti-Entropy, leading to an intense rivalry between both Honkai fighting forces.

In spite of all that, multiple Hunters, whether they're Schicksal, Anti-Entropy or none of them, continued hunting down the Honkai. It may be for heroics, revenge or just money, as long as Honkai still exists killing humanity, humanity will return the favour.

This is a story about the underworld of Honkai, outside of Schicksal and Anti-Entropy, of the eruptions, illegal dealings and independent Hunters none of both organizations are able to act on, or even bother doing so.

More specifically, a Hunter whose usual prey doesn't exist in this world, heck, he didn't even exist there until recently.

A Devil Hunter.

Honkai Will Cry

On a pile of disintegrating corpses of both zombie and Honkai Beast, a red-coated, white haired man with a giant sword on hand couldn't help but ask.

"Why is it that every party that I go to goes to Hell quickly?"

That is a fine question, oh, Dante, Son of Sparda.

AN:Another good question is why no one thought about this before?! I mean, MiHoYo used DMC and Bayonetta as clear inspirations for HI3, however, I didn't find any decent crossover fanart that showed that, at most, image collages or a GMV of APHO with Devil Trigger in YouTube (I recommend it) but nothing else more elaborate and of decent quality.

So I'll try my hand with this, using the end of DMC5 as to why our Wacky Woohoo Pizza Man ended up in the Honkaiverse: Hell shenanigans with probably Yamato reality-cutting shenanigans, as well as the 4-year period between the disappearance of Siegfried Kaslana and Nagazora's eruption as to why our Salty Tuna would follow a man that disturbingly resembles her father: badass monster slayer teacher as well as Devil May Cry's luck with money infecting whatever funds the fugitive Kaslanas had.

I'm applying thematics of series about monster hunters and monster hunter slaying organizations like the Witcher, Supernatural, DMC (duh) for world-building. Because Schicksal, Anti-Entropy and Fire Moth couldn't cover all of the globe since the beginning, a lot more people would have died to the Honkai if there weren't people dealing with them before the big players intervened.

By the way, this will be a prequel for another HI3 crossover I'm planning so when I plan to publish the latter, prepare for references to this one that may or may not be written here and both stories updating despite being at different points of time in the same universe.
