AN: I've made a small change to the story in a past chapter. In Percy's dream with the eagle and the horse I changed the description of the voice. To make it easier to understand I'll put the full dream here. The italicised bit is the bit that changed.
'I was having a strange dream before Grover woke me. I'd been standing on a beach with a hurricane blowing around me. I saw a horse and an eagle battling in front of me. The eagle swooped down with its talons outstretched but the horse reared up and kicked the eagle's wing. The ground beneath them rumbled as a monstrous voice somewhere beneath the earth goaded them to fight harder. I knew I had to stop them. I ran forward but the wind just got stronger and the distance seemed to stretch the more I ran. The eagle swooped down with its talons, faster this time. The horse's eyes widened.'
Luke POV
Annabeth was sat by where we'd put Percy, feeding him some ambrosia. He was slumped against the wall, drool dribbling down his chin. She was smiling as she fed him. So far he'd been asleep for 14 hours and, considering what he'd accomplished, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't wake up. I mean, fighting the Minotaur at 12!? You didn't just do that and come out alive. And yet, here he was, alive.
I looked at Grover chewing nervously on an aluminium can. I remembered how he acted when Percy had questioned him about his father. I stood up and walked up to him. I grabbed him by his collar and dragged him up. "We're going to have a talk in private, ok?" I asked, not really giving him an option. "Thalia, stay in here with Annabeth," I told her as she started to get up. She sat back down uncertainly as I dragged Grover outside.
"Jeez, I can walk myself, you don't need to drag me," he complained.
I dropped him on the floor. "Who is Percy's father?" I demanded.
"I can't tell you. Please don't make me," he begged but I wasn't letting him off that easily.
"Percy just got attacked by a Minotaur. On his second day! And the day before that he got attacked by a Kindly One, a cyclops and a sphinx. So you are going to tell me who his father is right now before I smash your head against these rocks."
He whimpered before whispering, "Not here." He beckoned me to follow and led me away from the cave. Just as I started to think he was planning on walking me to death, he stopped by a rock that looked sort of like a fist from a certain angle and turned around to face me. "Last year, I had a dream and it told me to go to Yancy Academy. It said that I would know what to do when I got there. When I arrived, I met Percy, who was also new, and I immediately knew he was a half-blood, and a strong one at that. I could tell he was going to be a very powerful hero when he grew up so I made it my mission to keep him alive long enough. I'd never smelt anyone as powerful as him until I met Thalia."
I looked at him confused for a moment. He hadn't told me who his father was. Then realisation dawned. "Are you seriously telling me…?"
"Yeah."
"That he is…?"
"Yes."
"Oh for gods sake. Twice!?"
"Maybe. There are three, remember." 'Sh*t.' I thought. 'He's right.'
"Yeah. Let's get back to the cave before they think we've been killed or something." He nodded and we walked back together.
"How was your little 'chat'?" Thalia asked us when we got back.
"It was good." Grover told her.
"What did you talk about?"
I looked at Grover who shook his head before saying, "Nothing really. Just Percy."
"What about him?" She pressed on.
"I… can't really say. I'm sorry." Needless to say neither Thalia nor Annabeth were very happy with that answer but just then Percy woke, saving me and Grover from further interrogation. Annabeth immediately moved her attention to Percy.
"How long was I asleep?" he asked.
"About 15 hours," Annabeth told him. Had me and Grover really been out for an hour?
Outside the cave, the clouds opened and a downpour started out of nowhere. "Looks like we'll be stuck here for a while," Percy said.
I moved to sit at the opening of the cave and started to watch the rain fall. The noise of conversation behind me dulled as I zoned out, staring at the rainfall and thinking about Percy. If he really was another child of the Big Three then that was bad news. Not just for us, due to all the extra monsters that will chase us. But for the whole world. Two children of the Big Three now. That means that the oath had been broken at least twice, but who knows how many more times that either have died or just not shown up yet. I mean, in all of our time running around we'd only run into two other groups of demigods. One with a group of Ares kids and the other with a child of Mars if that makes any sense. Who knew if there were other groups with other children of the Big Three, thinking the same thing I am right now?
"Luke?" I jumped. I hadn't noticed Annabeth walk up behind me.
"Sorry. Just… thinking."
"Luke you've been sat there for an hour. Percy asked if he could practice with his sword and you just sat there."
"Sorry. I didn't hear him. You wanna practice Percy?" I asked him.
"Yeah," he said but barely after he finished I swiped at his head with my sword.
"Lesson one: the enemy won't play fair." He glared at me.
Just as I lowered my sword, he uncapped his, which I hadn't seen him take out, and pulled me into a headlock. "Lesson two: neither do I," he countered. I laughed at that. I laughed more than I had in months. Percy smiled and cautiously let me go.
"All right, proper training now."
