AN: Alice and Jasper were altered slightly in this story as I did make them slightly more outgoing in their respective relationships to match their partners' own personalities.
"It's nearly nighttime!" Alice suddenly chimed in some time later in the afternoon.
"No it's not." Emmett scratched his head as he looked over at the large windows.
Alex helped me stand up after his mate jumped up and disappeared into thin air.
"She's getting an overnight bag," Edward supplied with a chuckle. He knew what I was thinking when I glanced curiously where Alice had been.
"She's staying with us then?"
"She's gonna be a nice friend and keep me company while you sleep. Ugh!" Alex even threw his head back and groaned as though it were torture.
"You should stop thinking of your friends like that then. People are going to get the wrong idea." My attention went toward Jasper, who thankfully kept talking to a minimum to spare my few remaining brain cells. "Are you coming along as well? I only ask that you stay out of my room and don't watch me while I'm sleeping. No offence, but seriously don't."
Emmett suddenly snorted and I really don't want to know what Alice said to cause him to laugh.
"He'll be with us while you're sleeping," Alice chimed in, now by my side with three bags.
I silently stared at the three bags, not wanting anyone to inform me what was in them.
What the hell is in them though?!
"Don't tell me," I told her.
"You're wasting time. It's clothes for Jasper and I."
"I see...So you have a new shirt and pants for him and everything else is yours then?"
"Of course silly!"
Three bags for one woman. And only one new set for Jasper.
"If you want more, you can steal Alex's clothes," I told the silent Texan before turning toward the Cullen parents. "Thank you both very much for hosting us. I apologize for not liking your home but..."
"It's okay dear," Esme assured me. One moment I'm standing there and the next I'm in a hug. That's nice. "We understand completely and hope that maybe you can try staying here one day. It's no bother for us to find suitable covering, and it may actually be a bit fun. The windows are smaller in some of the rooms so if not the rest of the house, you'd be able to stay in one of the bedrooms."
"I call dibs on Jasper's," Alex told the woman. "Wanna make sure he's not hiding anything nasty from my bestie over here."
Yeah, like my dignity.
Esme released me with a smile on her face. "Please feel free to visit as often as you'd like."
When I was finally standing on my own, Carlisle was in front of me with his hand out for me to shake. "I do wish you could've told us more but I understand why you didn't."
"If everything is different then it would just be embarrassment on any party involved. I may mess with Alex, but I don't actually believe in embarrassing someone horribly. Just what I mentioned is already bad enough."
He nodded in agreement and released me much sooner than his wife had. Good thing to know.
If one wants to hide from monsters under your bed, simply ask the Cullen mother for a hug. That woman will hug you till the monsters die. The father...might talk it down.
Alex's face filled my sight, causing me to back my head away slightly. "You have that look on your face. You imagining him naked again? Girl we need to talk."
"He's wearing your socks this time."
"Really?"
"Nah, it's the orange thong."
"Wait, both you and him are wearing it? That's gonna stretch out on one of you."
My eyes narrowed as I gestured for him to grab Alice's bags. My homework was nowhere to be fou-
Found it. Jasper got it.
"Are you saying my butt's big again?"
"Well I wasn't but now that we're talking about it..." And a hit by Jasper. Oh dear I might be in love.
"A voice that should be illegal and willing to beat the shit out of you. I'm already in love with him."
He grumbled under his breath while Alice and Emmett laughed at him.
"Before we leave, I'd like to ask a question." I turned my body fully to Rosalie so she knew I was talking to her. "You haven't glared at me for quite some time. Is it because of Alice?"
"What do you know?" she questioned me quietly.
"Enough that I was capable of asking it."
"Yes."
Bella would lose a lot and gain a lot in the Twilight series.
Here with me? I lose nothing and gain everything with my knowledge.
"Have a nice evening everyone. Edward, I ask one thing of you. Don't watch her sleep." That said I made my way to the door.
"You know, you already have Jasper kinda whipped," Alex stated as he followed behind me. "Alice likes you so she's willing to do stuff for you too. Might even get that orange thong for shits and giggles. And I like your ass enough that I'm willing to do some things."
"Yeah?"
"And the coven likes you somewhat."
I'm not seeing if there's a point here.
"Point is that for a human, you can really get some things done."
"Jasper knows guys in the underground," Alice helpfully pipped in. "I'll take front seat if you don't mind."
"Sure." He's in with the mafia?
Welp.
Just pull me out the oven cause I'm done. Bad boy with a smooth as silk voice and a kind personality. You never get a kind bad boy. It just contradicts itself and yet here's living proof. Nothing beats that.
Well until I see if he has a nice ass.
"Jasper, go move her bag to the back if you don't mind," Alice helped out.
Thank you Alice.
Yes.
If anyone were ever curious about his assets. They're top quality.
"Thank you," I spoke, glancing toward the seer who was smiling brightly beside me now.
"Like I said, you get shit done flower," Alex put in.
Yeah I'm fine with that.
He snorted and nudged me in the back to move faster. "Down girl."
"Woof woof."
"Don't start humping his leg now."
"It's the males that do that."
"Don't give him ideas."
He's too tall for that. It'd be weird. Oh now my mind went to the weird side. Why Alex? Why?
And now Jasper's frowning at me while Alex laughs and Alice giggles.
"Ah to see when your mate finally realizes that your mind is a madhouse. Don't worry dude, she's busy going somewhere else in there. I'm assuming you probably felt something weird in that mess of her wanting to have a go at your leg."
"Right leg if I had the choice," I bluntly replied before heading to the back seat behind Alice. Leaving Jasper behind Alex lets him hit the asshole easier.
"If we get pulled over by the way, your boy toy is on the seat with that little packet you found."
I groaned. "I'm telling whoever pulls us over that it's yours and you like to put them on your fingers and paint them black to pretend you're a witch or something."
"And why he's on top?"
"He likes to do the painting cause you're too stupid to paint them yourself."
"And us?" Alice asked.
"Bystanders. We were kidnapped."
"Alright!" Her giggle was contagious and I swore that if vampires could pale, Alex would've done so.
"There's two of them."
"I always wondered what it was like being kidnapped."
"Spend the day with Alex. Same torture."
"Stop lying to the poor woman Ellie!"
"Nah." I buckled in, not looking at the cover of the next Top Model seated near me. Just cause I'm not feeling the romantic feelings doesn't mean I'm blind. Hell a blind woman could feel him up and fall in love with those looks. Vampires are just attractive in general but damn. Maybe it's the mate bond and as a human I don't notice it as more than attraction?
Does the bond make your mate just automatically more attractive?
"Hey Alex?" I asked, leaning forward. Alice had been rattling on about something or other about a shirt she saw recently I think.
"Yeah?"
"Answer me honestly, alright? I'm trying to figure out something."
"Alright, shoot."
"I've always been attracted to light haired and eyed guys?"
"With deep voices? Yeah. You drool anytime one comes around. Why so serious?"
I leaned back in the seat and crossed my arms over my chest. "I'm trying to figure out if it's the bond in general that makes me think he's Adonis or if it's something I always found appealing."
"The bond was always there, so perhaps your mate was simply what you always found appealing," Jasper spoke.
"Oh holy hell stop talking." I groaned past Alex's loud laughter. "I just can't handle your voice in too many doses man!"
"Repeated exposure helps build up a tolerance," Alice chirped with laugher. "You just need to hear more to not be affected."
"I don't think my few brain cells can take that much. The only thing I can hope for is he gets dressed after showers and doesn't strut naked or in a towel like Alex."
"He will for you," she helpfully replied. That didn't help.
At all.
Just imagine all the water dripping.
"Its a good thing you're my mate and not Edward. If he'd hear my thoughts now."
Jasper just snorted, thankfully keeping his mouth shut and that pretty voice locked away. "Edward is more conservative."
Damn it Jasper.
Repeated exposure.
Repeated exposure.
"Wait does that work with skin too?" No. "Alice you're just as bad as Alex. Bad me. Bad."
"We are mated for a reason."
"You just met."
"She's always been a bit vicious."
"Jasper no, stop. I can't take it."
The occupants of the car were having fun at my expense. I don't like it. I'm trying to be all nice and innocent and they're all cruel and evil.
"You're not guilting me into making you a smoothie."
So mean.
"Stop pouting. I can see you in the rearview and I know you're faking it."
And here I was trying to make friends.
"Damn it. What kind?"
"Strawberry and orange please."
"You little gremlin. Watch out for that one Jasper. She's evil. While normally I'd say she's yours to deal with now...We both know I'm still stuck with her and I need you on my side. If she has too many allies we'll lose everything."
Alice was having the time of her life in the front seat. "You know he can make you feel anything right?" Her smile promised something evil. "Vindictive is a feeling too."
"Alice no!"
"Alice yes!" I laughed in the back seat, loving having an ally against Alex.
"So is attraction," Jasper spoke up from beside me.
Oh he's an absolute bastard!
No. I won't jump Jasper. We're in a moving car and it's unsafe. I could die. They'd be okay.
His really nice assets would be perfectly fine.
But I'd be dead and unable to appreciate them.
My glaring must've tipped Alex off because he laughed. "Jasper my man! Suck it Ellie!"
"I just met the damn man," I groaned, tipping my head back against the seat. "Stop it. I have life goals and one is to not jump a man I just met."
"I think it'd be funny as hell."
"You're strong enough," Alice pointed out. "And Jasper won't make you do anything too bad if you do actually fall prey to him." That sure as hell won't stop the images though. And those are innocent enough.
That I'm not touching him is innocent.
The images aren't.
Is it bad, or only bad if Edward's around to hear?
"If you don't want to mess with your brother, don't do this near him." Seriously. Edward had his own morals, which I can honestly say he's a good man for. He didn't do something because it conflicted with what he believed. While that's all well and good, being in my head might not be safe for him.
He may have a run for his money between Emmett, Alex, and I and our minds. I don't know how tame the others' minds are but ours aren't safe.
"My poor brain hurts with trying to figure out if I should feel guilty or just appreciate it."
"Considering vampires feel the bond stronger than a human, I'm not above manipulation to get you to be attracted to me as well," Jasper made sure to point out. When I glanced at him I saw that a smile was on his face.
"I'm probably perfectly fine with that, but wait three to eight business days and I'll get back to you with that." Being the smart person that I am, I made sure not to close my eyes. Closed eyes means imaginations can run wild. In close proximity to the one that can fill a person with any feeling isn't safe. "I'm locking my door and want no one in my room tonight."
"Alright. I'll come to check up on you around nine," Alice told me.
"Alice, why..."
"I'm already in love with her Ellie. I'm thinking a ring so big she could kill a man with it."
"I'm hoping that man is you."
"I could probably kill you with a chair too!" Well at least she knows she has options to kill my best friend with.
Wait, I like our chairs. "Not the chairs. I like our current ones. They're nice. I like the little wiggle when I lean back."
"Flower they're going to break on you one day."
I leaned forward to be closer to Alex. "And you'll bring me to the hospital, or to Carlisle I suppose now that we know the Cullens exist. Until then it's a really comfy chair and you're not getting rid of it."
"I'm just gonna convince your mate to find him just a little more appealing than the chair and while you're distracted let the little midget in the front seat over here find a nice new one. She apparently really likes shopping."
"Yeah, you knew this from when I told you about it."
"There's no need to convince him. Jasper already has the pull and I've seen nothing from Ellie about hating having a vampire mate."
Truly for me there's no bad in it. I already know just as much as the vampires do about their life. "Yeah, I'm fine with it. I'm also absolutely fine with flirting with him too. The thing I'm not fine with is that up until today you were all just figments of someone's imagination and now I'm mated with someone. I'm not that kind of girl."
"Could've fooled me."
"You're buying me a yellow thong too asshole."
"Now now, no need to be rude. I'll buy you those thongs as long as you promise I can buy you a red one."
"Oh, I can buy one off of your computer with our money!" Pretty sure Alice hasn't been anything but happy since I've met her. "That'd be great! Alex can help me shop!"
"Hell yeah I will."
I turned my head to glance at Jasper, who seemed to know that I was watching him. Or saw that I was looking at him. Or felt the attraction when I looked at him.
It could be anything really.
"You're wearing one even if you don't want to."
"As long as you wear a hat darlin'."
Oh yum.
Jasper didn't say anything. He sure as hell laughed at what he felt as quick acceptance.
