Once A Ranger, Forever A Hero
Chapter 10 – Negotiations
After some drinks and light conversation, Adam crashed in the spare bedroom upstairs and Kira resumed her nap on the couch. Her and Tommy didn't want to be very far away from each other at the moment. Tommy started up the camera again, allowing the events to come to his lips once more. "I think the hardest part of this was the fact that no one could have predicted what came next. But how we wish we could have."
*ORFH*
The emergency call went out and every available ranger was called in. The Space and Galaxy teams including Zhane and Karone were stationed on nearby planets and awaiting the signal. The Rescue team minus Dana, Eric and Wes, the Ninjas, the Dinos, and the Mystic Force comprised the ground force. The Overdrive was notified but given their current situation were tasked with being back up in the event of an emergency. In all honesty, no one felt good about the plan especially not Marah and Kapri but the entire Earth and every living being on it were at stake. It was only that thought in mind that drove the sisters to re-don their old armour and the other rangers to stand aside while Andros was cuffed and shackled. There was a level of dread aboard the Megaship, the radars constantly scanning the heavens for the moment the armada entered the system. TJ kept shooting glances at the restrained Andros seated on the far side of the control room. Tommy joined his side, "Stop. You're not going to change his mind."
"I hate this so much," the Turbo red ranger grumbled. "We can trust them right?"
"Yeah, we can trust them." Tommy assured him. "They've got something worth fighting for here."
"I hope that's enough." At last, the sensors detecting numerous entities entering the Milky Way at top speed. "They're here."
"Hail the flagship." Marah and Kapri strode into the console. "Let us do the talking."
"It's all yours," TJ invited, backing off and allowing the women to stand front and centre. The communication screen expanded and one of Vile's henchmen appeared onscreen.
"This is Marah and Kapri, daughters of Rito and Scorpina, granddaughters of Master Vile. Get your master," Kapri commanded. "Tell them we want an audience."
*ORFH*
"Sir," the henchman knelt before Vile. "Your granddaughters are demanding an audience."
"Hmph," Master Vile looked at Lothor. "Interesting. Let us hear what they have to say."
"Father you're not serious," Lothor tried to hide his panic. "They're traitors! There is nothing to say!"
"I want to see if they dare lie to me on top of all their transgressions. Patch them through." Vile commanded and moments later his communication appeared, showing Marah and Kapri amidst the rangers. "Starlets, dear ones, how good of you to call your old grandfather after all this time."
"Likewise," Kapri returned shortly. "How good of you to come looking for us."
"What can I do for you?"
"You can start by explaining why there is an entire armada heading for Earth," Marah supposed.
"Perhaps you have not been paying attention dearest. Your cousin Thrax is dead. My children are dead. My son in-law has been horribly maimed. Now my grandchildren have chosen to betray me."
"So your son in-law hasn't told you," Kapri surmised. "Perhaps you ought to ask Uncle Lothor, how we ended up on the side of the rangers."
"What is she talking about?" Vile growled to Lothor.
"More lies I swear father," Lothor insisted.
The sisters smirked, "We'll see about that. We wish to come aboard and discuss a truce. Suspend the hostilities against this system and let's make a deal. In person."
Master Vile laughed outright, "What could you possibly offer me?"
"What you came for, revenge." Marah moved off and returned a moment later with a bound Andros. "This is the one grandfather. The one who broke Zordon's container and destroyed our family. The rangers have agreed to surrender him if you hold the attack."
"They would send one of their own to slaughter?"
"If it means protecting the entire galaxy, yes." Kapri nodded. "There are some other conditions however they are a family matter and we'd rather discuss it in person."
"Father no," Lothor pled. "We don't have to entertain any of this nonsense. Let us attack and kill them all and our family shall be avenged. They all deserve to die. All of them."
"I think our uncle has forgotten this family's track record with the rangers," Marah reminded them. "We don't win – ever. Not to mention there are now significantly more rangers on Earth than there were during the war. This is your best opportunity to come out with something resembling a victory."
"There is some truth in that," Vile pondered. "Without Zordon however, I cannot imagine the rangers defeating us. Your terms do intrigue me though and the chance to hold the wretch responsible for my family's demise in my prison is appealing. Alright starlets I will allow you to come aboard and discuss a truce. I have some questions I'd rather you answer in person as well."
"We're on way."
The feed cut out and Master Vile beckoned Lothor closer. "Give word to halt the armada. As soon as they're aboard this ship, signal for them to advance. I will see to end of all the power rangers."
Lothor bowed, "Yes father."
