Chapter 18
"So floor 35 is where we'll stop at." Bell asked again. Finn nodded.
Finn thought it was best for him to explore the other floors with the familia as a whole. The next expedition was coming up. He doesn't know when they'll go but it's sooner than later.
The person who's going to tag along with him is Ais. She requested it anyways. She didn't tell them why... she felt this was a matter of her own.
Bell was supposed to go somewhere with Tiona, Tione, and Lefiya. He heard that they were going to buy him something but wasn't aware of what. All he knows is that they're upset that his dungeon trip is today.
All the executives except Riveria, Bete, including Loki waved both of them off.
Bete was dozing off in the living room, Loki was drinking in her room.
Riveria however... she was figuring out where and when she heard Bell's name from. It was as if her mind was screaming at her to figure it out. She was also figuring out what type of magic he has. She knew it's related to fire. The burnt spots on Finn and Bell's clothes on that day says so.
She did watched them go off from a window, Bell was the only one to notice her, he waved at her and she waved back.
Finn estimated that they'll be gone for almost a whole day or half of a day. Riveria strictly told Ais on what to do and on what not to do. Finn as well. Bell was told somethings but everything else were from Eina.
As she was reading the few books she picked out an elf entered the library to check on her superior. "Lady Riveria how are you?"
"(groan) How many times do I have to tell you Alicia. Just call me Riveria." Of course Alicia totally went against it.
She brought a tray with her. Couple of cream puffs and two cups to pour their tea in. Riveria gladly thanked her for it. Alicia took in a seat for herself, she sat down on the opposite side of Riveria's spot.
As Alicia poured their tea for them, she quickly saw the books Riveria was reading. All of them related with magic and were linked with fire. She didn't bother asking since she thinks it's rude. Although she did wonder why Riveria was reading these specific ones. They were old magic spells used by strong mages from the past.
Letting her inner curiosity take over she asked, hoping her superior won't punish her for it, "Riveria what are you reading?"
Riveria finished finished her cup of tea before refilling it and answering Alicia's question, "I'm researching a certain magic spell. It caught my interest that's all." She didn't want to give it away, feeling she should rather keep it a secret for now.
Alicia didn't ask anymore questions further than that and enjoyed her time with Riveria before it ended.
.
.
.
As for Riveria's apprentice or disciple, she was in the training yard practicing her magic against an amazon. She finished her morning lessons early to see Bell and Ais off. She needed to get stronger so she could catch up to her closes friend and her teacher.
"Unleashed streak of light, bow limbs of the holy tree,
Tiona knew this magic spell very well. A single magic shot, beam of light that can track down its enemies.
you are an expert of the bow. Shoot, sniper of the fairies. Penetrate, arrow of absolute accuracy"
Tiona steadied her feet to the ground. Ready to dodge and try her best to make the magic spell to hit another target.
"Arcs Ray!"
Tiona waited for the spell to at least come halfway. She caught a glimpse of Lefiya running around the courtyard already chanting the same spell.
"Unleashed streak of light, bow limbs of the holy tree,
Not wanting to end this in her hurting herself, she ran on the other side of the courtyard so the magic can still follow her. It won't stop until he hits target. Even though she's a real hard knucklehead, she at least knew a few ideas to get out of this situation.
you are an expert of the bow. Shoot, sniper of the fairies. Penetrate, arrow of absolute accuracy"
She was waiting for her to say it.
"Arcs Ray!"
Another beam of light dashed towards Tiona. Seeing it coming towards her she runs towards it in full speed, startling Lefiya.
She slid down just in time to a make smoke bomb. Both beams of light were to close to each other that it was unable to get out of the others distance. Resulting in both hitting into each other making a huge smoke area for Tiona.
Lefiya had her guard up, the smoke gotten to her area. Even though she's a level 3, she tried to use her heightened hearings to know where Tiona was running at.
Sadly she got sweep kicked and fell to the ground on her back. Just as the smoke screen fades away a sharp object was pointed at Lefiya neck. She glanced up to see Tiona smiling down at her, happy that Lefiya is getting better with her chanting while running.
"Do you surrender." She knew the answer but she wanted to hear it from her.
Lefiya grounded before saying, "I surrender." She was a little upset that she didn't win but is not surprised to say the least. She is facing a skilled fighter. A person higher levels than her.
Tiona offered her a hand and Lefiya gladly took it. Both forgetting that elf's don't like being touched. She dusted the sand of her clothes and picked up her staff.
"You did better than last time!" Tiona mentioned.
"Thank you... I still lost though." Lefiya said in a sad tone.
Tiona patted her head and told her, "It's alright. This is training after all so don't sweat it." Lefiya smiled at that and thanked her.
Both walked back inside not noticing the content smile on Riveria face from a window. She was happy that Lefiya had gotten that far. Like Ais, Tiona usually forgets to hold back against people.
She glanced back at the spell right in front of her and shivered in... fear. This spell in particular was last used by a strong fellow who almost successfully destroyed Orario.
She skipped that spell and quick scanned the other spells in this book. She found none that was similar to Bell's so she went to the next page. Quick reading through the two pages in front of her she was going to flip it to the next pages until she saw a funny named skill that failed to get her attention for the first time.
"'Argonaut' huh?" She couldn't help but chuckle. Even though the name sounded a tad ridiculous since Argonaut is a name of a hero.
The first ever hero in history, the clown hero. A hero who was 'stupid' and managed to save a beautiful princess from a strong Minotaur. The hero's started off with him... and ended on the 31st hero... the 'last' hero in history... Albert Waldstein.
This skill is still a strong one depending on the users usage of it and level.
"It strengthens the users magic or whatever attacks they use. A small chime could be herd as it is charging, the charge lasts until the chime is no longer herd. The longer the charge the more recoils the user gets; destroys weapons or could even breaks a persons bones if not careful. However the longer the charge, stronger the damage will be."
There was more about facts about the skill but Riveria left it at that. Nobody in the familia had this skill. She wished someone did, it would help a lot in expeditions. She left a red bookmark on the book in case she ever needs to return to it.
She then flipped onto the next page, still trying to find a spell similar to one of Bell's magic.
"Wow."
Bell was marveled at what he was looking at.
Beautiful blue crystals were on top ceiling of the floor. Sparkling bright as a sun or bright light to the merchants and people living in this floor.
They were on floor 18. They reached here in just 2 hours. Ais told him a few things and facts about the upper floors but none were different from what he herd before.
Ais would frown every time he turned away when she's done telling him something. She was trying her best to keep a decent conversation! It wasn't her fault that she grew up like this... maybe. The only topic that lasted more than 2 minutes was training.
Right now she was looking up at the crystal ceiling admiring the beautiful view as well.
When she first saw it, she always question her mother and father, how did something like this exist in the dungeon? Even now she still questions it even if she doesn't get the answer.
"Ready to go?" She looked back to Bell. Bell admired the view for a few more seconds before he responded back,
"Yes. I'm ready."
"Get the hell out of my way!"
Bete shoved a lower level adventurer than him. A member from Apollo familia. A small prum that always gets on his nerve.
The prum scurried away from him and ran behind his comrades who were frightened by the wolf. One looked like he wasn't fazed but in the inside he did not want to pick a fight against him. Especially someone like Bete.
Bete was walking around the city finding a perfect bar for him drink at. The bar he went at last time was too busy for him. So he left with an already unhappy mood.
He wanted to take Bell to the dungeon so he could give him a piece of his mind. Double make sure that the emotionless white haired boy knows what he's about to deal with.
Being an adventurer isn't always trying get money. You fight for your life trying to achieve those things. So your either making a name for yourself, getting attention, or wanting to get stronger... there is another rare uncommon strive only a few adventurers have.
He couldn't find a good decent bar to get drunk at so his next best option was none other than the Hostess of Fertility. The pub is a few blocks away but he doesn't mind walking over there. If he's drinking then that's fine by him.
Due to him wanting to drink more than anything right now he didn't notice the black cloaked individual walking a few feet's away from him.
The individual went through the dark alleyways not wanting to get attention from the main streets. They kept on walking in the dark shady places until they founded their way in the underground again... the sewers...
When Bete entered the pub his wolf ears twitched.
"Always noisy huh." It wasn't a question, it was a fact.
The sun was finally settling down and the pub was still serving. He was glad that this pub serves good beer, food, and is totally clean. Many bars or pubs he goes to aren't as clean as this one. It was probably of the many waitresses they have he thought.
Entering the pub he was instantly greeted by a brown haired cat he knows. Or more preferably her brother. He fought her brother once and wasn't able to get one hit on him while he did.
"Come this way!" Anya lead him to a table for one. She knew he was here alone, she didn't pick up any other people's scent.
She gave him their menu and left him at that. Bete looked down at the menu and was ready to order but a conversation not to far from him caught his ears...
"So how are we going to get her?"
"Beats me. The stupid prum is a sneaky one."
"She's a supporter ain't she?"
"Yeah, a real handful one."
"I herd she's in our familia? Easier for us to track her down hehehe."
"For now lets wait until captain comes here and then we can talk. Never know if someone is hearing."
Bete scoffed at them. You would think since he's a high level adventurer from a strong familia he would do something about this right? No, he wasn't going to do anything about it. He didn't even feel pity towards whoever they were talking about.
Life is never beautiful.
While all of that is happening. A silver haired waitress was happy, not in the inside. She was annoyed that he didn't even come by.
It's been weeks! He promised... did he forget that easily she wondered. Her plans for today and recent passed days, have failed once again.
She sighed and continued to the serve the customers with a fake happy smile on her face.
'I guess it doesn't hurt to wait longer...' she thought.
Riveria held both hands to her head. Frustrated that she couldn't find not one single answer or clue to Bell's magic or name.
She couldn't find any related spells to his magic so she went back to finding out his origin.
She couldn't find anything related to his origin so she went back to spell searching.
Back to the name.
Back to the spell.
Name.
Spell.
Name.
Spell.
Name.
Spell.
It was a hard tug of war in her brain. She started when the sun was up. Now the sun was settling down. She did not leave the library the whole day.
Lefiya came in earlier and saw the concentrated look on her face so she didn't bother her nor did Alicia. Both were afraid if Riveria lashed her anger out on them. Fearing for the worst punishments they could receive.
Riveria could just ask Bell himself but the issue with that is
.
"How did you get magic?"
"I adapted it... I learned it from someone."
That was the day he was introduced. A question asked by Tiona.
.
Magic could only be obtained through falna. It's rare to get it as well, another way to get magic is with grimoires, but even that isn't easy to find. They don't cost cheap at all, some even cost as much as a top tier weapon.
The last time someone obtained magic naturally was... before the gods descended in Gekia.
She groaned before picking up all the books and putting them all back in their shelves. One by one she put them back, as she was going to put one in a top shelf where it belonged a book had fallen out of its place right beside it.
She looked down and saw that it had fallen on its front cover. When she picked it up that's when she noticed its detail. It looked old, older than all the books they had in their library. A hero's fairytale looked better shape than this. There was even some dirt on it.
When she turned it around her skin instantly pales. Her emerald eyes sharpened at the book. Her grip on it strengthens.
'Why the hell do we have this!'
She instantly goes to the nearest trash can and dumps it. The trash can almost tipped over due to how hard she threw it. A book related to a 'cult' that was almost able to wipe out all Spirits in the past.
"I promised to protect Ais at all costs..." she muttered under her breath.
.
.
.
If it weren't for a certain spirit of light and hope and hero's in the far future, then maybe the spirits wouldn't have been born... but that doesn't mean the witches disappeared...
They came back when he passed away... but were way weaker than before... but were still deadly
Riveria only trusts one witch... no one other than her... but even so she never brings Ais to her shop.
.
.
.
.
The book was related to witchcraft... and black evil magic...
.
.
.
.
.
.
One of Bell's spells were in that book
.
.
.
.
.
.
The spirit of darkness origin was in the book…

When Bell returned to the manor every executive except for Bete welcomed Bell and Ais back. They asked for Bell's progress from Ais and she told them everything in detail. Finn, Riveria, and Loki listen intently. The others were amused at his feats especially Tiona.
Her eyes sparkled when hearing that Bell was able to kill a horde of Minotaurs. Ais stopped them from escaping so that Bell can kill them all properly. If she didn't block their only exit then the situation would've escalated even further.
Internally Riveria brows furrowed. Ais and Bell didn't even mention him using his magic at all. She thought it was a weird coincidence since she's researching about it today.
At the end of the day she chuckled to herself for failing to find anything about the young boy. However she has tomorrow to do it again...
When Ais entered her room she removed all her light armor off and set it on her nightstand. She wasn't tired but was sleepy. She felt a little drained since she had to watch over Bell. She saw his eye show a small light in them every time he sees something that fascinates him.
Floor 10.
Floor 18, Rivira.
Floor 20, Large Tree Labryinth.
Floor 25, Water City.
She was glad that it ended on floor 35 and not... that floor... the tales she heard... besides the black dragon... the coliseum still makes her skin crawl... never has she entered there and never will she...
