Hi guys…. Its been a long time. Now before you come for me. I must apologize for simply disappearing. It's just my laptop decided to commit suicide and there was really nothing that I could do. Anyways I'm still planning to continue this story unless the Coronavirus decides to do me in. You know it sucks because I had like seven chapters written out and now I don't even remember what I had written. So I have to almost start over so that's that. Now on to the chapter.
Ginny Weasley was one very interesting witch Harry decided. He would even go as far to say that she was the most interesting witch he knew, but given the fact that she was the only witch he knew he didn't think it mattered much. Anyways he decided that going to Hogwarts having already made a friend would be amazing –and that friend being Ginny Weasley would be doubly so.
In the few odd hours that he'd known her she hadn't ceased to amaze him. She was funny and knowledgeable about magic and seemed to have endless tales about her brothers and their lives at The Burrow- Harry found that name interesting. Harry currently stood outside of the compartment waiting for Ginny to finish changing into her Hogwarts robe. They had been lucky to have the compartment for themselves. Harry was thankful as he didn't think he'd have been as comfortable if there had been someone else there with them.
Ginny was just different. He couldn't say how she was different just that he hadn't felt any reluctance to talk with her and be his true self- something he couldn't do back when he had been at the Dursleys. He returned to the compartment after Ginny opened the door. He noticed that while his robes were shiny and new, Ginny's were not. As if she'd noticed him looking at her robes Ginny went a little red.
Harry who knew exactly what it was like to wear second hand things didn't want Ginny to think that he'd hold her lack of money against her.
'You know until about a month ago I never got anything new' he said feeling his new robes
Ginny looked at him but said nothing
He nodded 'in fact even the clothes I'm wearing underneath these robes are second hand'
'I had wondered why you were wearing a tent' she said giving him a light smile
He snorted 'they belong to my whale of a cousin'
She giggled
'You may think I'm exaggerating but I'm not' he said widening his eyes 'he's like five of me'
'That's not saying much' she interjected
'Hey!' he said indignantly
They locked eyes for a second before they both burst out laughing
'Anyways' he said 'my uncle and aunt refuse to get me anything so I got stuck with Dudley's old clothes'
'Dudley' she said twitching her nose
'Yep' he said snorting 'my aunt calls him dudders'
'As if Dudley isn't bad enough' she said
'My thoughts exactly'
'Why wouldn't they get you things that are your size?' she asked hesitantly
'They don't like me much' he said darkly
'Why?' she asked quickly
'Err' he said 'I don't know'
He thought for a moment 'I always thought it was because I was an orphan and they were forced to raise me but now that I think about it I think it's because I'm magical'
'They're muggles?' she asked
'Yes'
'How do they now about magic then?' she asked
'My parents were magical and my aunt is my mother's sister'
'Oh' she said
They sat in silence for a minute before Ginny spoke up again
'Harry?'
'Hmm?'
'How did' she said 'I mean …err'
'How did my parents die?' he offered
'Yes'
'They were murdered'
'Harry that's horrible' she said going pale
'I always thought they died in a car crash' he said absent mindedly touching his scar
Ginny's eyes went wide and Harry inwardly cursed himself. He remembered how those witches and wizards in the pub had reacted to his name. He hoped Ginny wouldn't have the same reaction.
'Yep I'm Harry Potter' he said replying to the unasked question
Ginny's eyes immediately filled with tears
'Ginny?' Harry asked worriedly
To Harry's horror she started sobbing. Harry stared at her for a second before moving beside her and embracing her.
'Oh Ginny don't cry' he said rubbing her back entirely confused as to why she was crying
'I'm so sorry Harry' she said in between sobs 'your parents died when you were a baby and you lived with awful muggles'
'Oh Ginny' he said feeling warm inside that she had gotten so upset on his behalf 'I'm entirely fine'
She eyed him carefully as if trying to spot if he was lying
'You are a bit skinny for an eleven year old but you'll be fine' she concluded
'Ginny I'm not eleven' he said
'You're not?' she asked
'oh that's right Harry Potter was born on July 31st 1980' she said
'And you know that how?' he asked curiously
She blushed and mumbled something that Harry couldn't hear
'but how come you didn't got to Hogwarts last year like Ron did?' she said changing the topic
'I've no idea' Harry shrugged 'I didn't even know what Hogwarts was up until last month'
'Really?' she said shock
'Is it unusual then?' he asked hating the fact that something else would set him different
'Yes' she said nodding 'everyone who goes to Hogwarts gets their Hogwarts letter when they are eleven years old'
Harry groaned and put his face in his hands
'Oh Harry I'm sure it's not that big of a deal' she said comfortingly
'I just won't tell them' he said decidedly 'I'll tell them I'm eleven keep it a secret?'
'Oh Harry don't be silly' she said 'you can't lie to magic about such things and besides you're Harry Potter everyone knows who you are'
'Just' he said frustratedly 'why I can't I be just Harry?'
'You'll always be just Harry to me' she promised
'thanks Ginny' he smiled genuinely
