AN: Sorry if chapter 3 felt a bit rushed. It was more of a filler as I had forgotten the direction I wanted to go in with the story. Anyways now I have a general idea of where I want to go with this story. Do you guys think I should give Harry and Ginny a soulbond or not?

Without further ado

P.s I'll skip the sorting because we all know how that goes.

'Say Ginny?' Harry said 'Do you think they'll ever stop staring?'

'Honestly Harry' she said 'if I hadn't sat with you for the entire ride I would have been staring right with them'

While the people in Diagon Alley hadn't been exactly subtle it hadn't been as bad as this. While most of the other students were staring at him he heard his name every few seconds some people were actually pointing at him.

'Ignore them Harry' she said 'if you ignore them they'll lose interest'

Harry conceded to her words and turned to the food in front of him. It was easily the most amount of food Harry had ever seen. It gave Harry no little satisfaction knowing that Dudley would quite literally kill to be here. Harry vaguely registered that the old man who was sitting in the middle stood up and was giving a speech of some sort. Truthfully Harry hardly paid any attention.

As it stood Harry wasn't generally fond of adults and especially those who had power over him. But while he'd allowed the Dursleys to bully him he was hardly powerless here. It seemed that most people were fond of him for his parents' sacrifice and Harry was determined to learn as much magic as he could so he would never be powerless again. And he had Ginny now- that made him feel better than anything.

He smiled into his cup as Ginny glared at a boy who had been insistently trying to catch Harry's eyes. It made him feel warm inside that she was so protective of him.

'Harry' she said nudging him

With a start he realized that students had already began leaving. He stood up and together he and Ginny followed the Prefect.

'Mr Potter!' McGonagall said

'Yes Professor' Harry said

Every student within a ten foot radius stopped and stared at him and Harry almost groaned.

'A word Mr Potter' she said and briskly walked away

Harry shot Ginny a confused glance. She grabbed his hand and gave it a comforting squeeze.

'Go' she said

Harry followed after McGonagall.

'Professor?' he said

'Yes Mr Potter' she replied

'Am I in trouble?' he asked

'Not at all Mr Potter the Headmaster and I require a word with you'

'Why?' he said hiding the fact that he was scared 'are you sure I'm not in any trouble?'

'You aren't in trouble Mr Potter' she stopped and fixed him with a steely look 'unless you have something to confess to'

'I swear I haven't done anything' he said quickly

He saw a flicker of something in McGonagall's eyes

'It is truly wondrous how much like your father you are' she said as she started walking again

'Did you know him?' Harry asked

'I knew both of your parents' she said smiling faintly 'taught them too'

'Could you err' Harry asked 'erm, do you think you could tell me about them sometime?'

Her eyes softened and she said 'Of course Mr Potter'

They arrived at an office that Harry assumed was McGonagall's. When they got there they found the old man with the twinkling eyes. He immediately strode to Harry and offered his hand

'How very splendid to see you again Mr Potter'

'Err thank you sir' Harry said at a loss of how to respond

'Of course the last time we met you were but a baby' the old man continued undeterred by Harry's less than enthusiastic response

'Forgive me my boy I am Albus Dumbledore Headmaster of Hogwarts'

'And I'm Harry Potter' Harry replied awkwardly

'Indeed you are' Dumbledore said his eyes twinkling madly

His eyes unnerved Harry

'Come in my boy' he said inviting Harry to sit down

Harry sat down deciding that the chairs were far more comfortable than they looked.

'Now Mr Potter I find myself very curious indeed' he said leaning forward

'How is it that you are just starting your Hogwarts education now when you should have started last year?'

'Shouldn't you tell me that?' he said and when seeing McGonagall's disapproving stare he added 'sir?'

Dumbledore raised a delicate brow

'Up until last month I had no idea magic existed much less that Hogwarts did' Harry clarified

'Indeed' Dumbledore said vaguely

McGonagall made a disapproving noise but this time she was looking at Dumbledore. Dumbledore shifted uncomfortably and said

'That will be all Mr Potter you may return to your common room'

Harry paused for a minute and then said 'I don't know where that is'

'Right' McGonagall said and opened the door 'if you just follow my Patronus it should lead you right to it'

Before Harry could ask what a Patronus was McGonagall brandished her wand and said

'Expect Patronum'

A silver cat leapt out of her wand

'The password is Mandrakes' she said 'Goodnight Mr Potter'

'ER Goodnight Professor' Harry said and then followed the cat.

A few moving staircases later Harry found himself face to face with a portrait of a fat lady that was talking to him. He shook his head to make sure and sure enough she was talking to him

'Password?' she asked

'Er Mandrakes' he said remembering what McGonagall had said to him

The portrait then swung forward to reveal a hole in the wall. Harry climbed in and the portrait swung shut behind him. Harry found himself in a warm and cozy room that locked like a living room with more than a few sofas and arm chairs.

'Harry' he heard and then found himself face to face with Ginny

'It's pretty awesome right?' she asked

'It really is' he replied

'It's called the common room' she told him as she dragged him to an empty corner

As they sat down she pointed and showed him the different staircases for the dorms.

'I met my dorm mates' she told him 'I don't think we'll be best friends'

Harry was secretly relieved to hear that. Ginny was his first friend ever and he didn't want her to forgo their friendship. He knew it was selfish of him but he couldn't help it. Dudley had bullied anyone that so much as looked in Harry's general direction and due to that he hadn't made any friends. And he didn't think he'd be able to befriend anyone as he did Ginny.

'Harry are you listening?' she asked

'Not really' he replied distractedly

'My brothers always tell me I talk too much' she said going a bit red

'I like to hear you talk' he said 'just a bit tired s'all'

'Oh' she said and yawned suddenly remembering that she too was tired

'We should probably go to sleep' Harry said

'You're right' she replied 'Goodnight Harry'

'Goodnight Gin' he replied

Harry had already started going upstairs so he missed the surprised look Ginny gave him and then the small smile.

When Harry arrived at the dorm he found his other dorm-mates chatting together excitedly. They all fell silent when he entered. Harry rolled his eyes.

'Where's my bed?' he asked

The boy who Harry recognized as the one Ginny had glared at earlier point to the bed closest to the window.

'Cheers' he said

Harry rummaged through his trunk for his pajamas. As he readied himself for bed he thought of his meeting with the Headmaster. He was curious that McGonagall seemed displeased when Harry said he hadn't known about magic. He also filed away the word Patronus as it seemed like an interesting spell. As Harry laid down in his bed having drawn the curtains he was reminded of something Dumbledore had said.

He had said that he met Harry when Harry was a baby. What business did the Headmaster of Hogwarts have meeting a baby Harry. He definitely had a lot to think on.
