Three days later, they all sat in the classroom, Shanks speaking. Luffy was friendly with Law again, but he was sure somebody had talked to them all about the looks they made, since they all stopped. Nobody made the infuriating look that made him feel stupid anymore. It was probably Ace. Not that he minded. He was just glad they stopped.

"These are the offers given based on the sports festival performance," Shanks announced. Luffy had his hands clasped tightly together on the desk, hoping his appearance didn't hinder him. When the chart came up, he was very upset. He had been one of the higher ones, but he got less than Hancock.

He deflated and hunched his shoulders. Zoro, Sanji, Law and Kid got the highest. Luffy was left behind. Zoro frowned deeply and from the expression Luffy could see, Law looked angry. Maybe he blamed himself for Luffy being so low. But he knew what the problem was. It was most likely not his scars. It was probably the fact that he'd been using sign language on camera.

Talking to Law about their plan in the second activity had been clear. He didn't or couldn't speak, so he would be a hindrance to many pro heroes. When they got their list, Luffy had fifteen offers, compared to Zoro's 240. He bit his lip, trying not to cry. He didn't look at his list, and the moment the bell rang for lunch, Luffy disappeared and went to his room.

He cried into his pillow. Of course nobody wanted him. He was inconvenient. People had to learn sign language to communicate with him. If only he could talk. He walked to his bathroom, his eyes bright red, nose a bit pink and lips puffy. "I'm-" and he was thrown into a flashback, making him curl into a ball on his bathroom floor. All alone. He was alone.

When he was back to himself, he realized he'd taken up all lunch. It was time for hero basics training. Luffy knew he wasn't sound for that. He was trembling, breathing quickly. He rocked back and forth on the floor. He managed to pick up his phone and texted Zoro. He always snuck his phone into his suit.

Tell Marco I had a flashback and can't make it to class. He waited for a long moment, not expecting to get an answer. But he did.

He said he understands and is okay with it. Luffy smiled in relief. He picked himself up off the floor, legs shaking but able to walk to his bed, where he left the paper with the few offers. Most of them he didn't recognize. Small ones. There was only one that stood out. Lufy read over it multiple times.

The Oden agency. He felt there had been a mistake. All the other little agencies, the medium sized ones, didn't want him. It was clear with how few offers he'd gotten. He was not all around desirable. But he looked over the list enough times to see he wasn't seeing things. He took a highlighter from his desk and ran it over the name.

When school was over and everybody was back at the dorm, Luffy came out and went straight to Hiyori, whose dad was Oden. She would have to know the thinking behind this. Luffy hadn't gotten an invitation from Roger's agency, of course. He was surprised that an agency this big would be accepting any interns at the moment, let alone mute ones.

He wrote his question on a whitebeard and asked, Was Oden serious when he invited me? "Yeah. He was dead serious. The agency all knows sign language because we've had deaf workers. He thought you quirk could be very helpful in stealth projects and observation," she replied honestly. Luffy was surprised, and Franky asked what they were talking about. Since Luffy looked shocked and he didn't really go out of his way to "talk" with Hiyori. "Dad invited him to the agency."

"What?!" Kid demanded. He looked at his list in anger and crumpled it up. "I didn't get any big name offers!" Zoro started laughing at the reaction. Luffy wondered if anybody else had gotten Oden. Law rose his hand. He looked down at his paper.

"It says that I can only come as a partner with Luffy since I can sustain his teleporting," he said. Luffy glanced at Zoro and Sanji, who just grinned.

"We got three years to work together. Why not learn separately this time?" Zoro said. "You should definitely do Oden, even if Law doesn't go with you." He looked at his own list. "I'm being crazy and masochistic, though. I'm going to Garp's agency." Everyone looked shocked. "Should be interesting. I'll get to see if he actually is crazy."

Sanji said, "I'm going to Baratie. Zeff is known for having strong kicks. I thought focusing all my power in my legs would be safer for my arms. Since I cook, I can't let anything happen to them." Luffy nodded, and pulled the list out of his pocket. He'd cut it down since it was only a sliver of the paper.

I'll go to Oden. Then he looked to Law. What do you want to do? he signed, the whiteboard on the table next to where Hiyori was sitting. She seemed happy about Luffy accepting. They never talked much, but it was mostly because Luffy felt they had nothing in common, and could only open up to so many people. He was "friends" with most of the class, but not friends. Close classmates described it. Maybe.

"I was already thinking of a different place to go. I've heard good things about Corazon," Law said. Luffy was kind of happy. He was nervous, but he'd be doing something by himself. But he also didn't have anybody to help him out if he got overwhelmed. Having a panic attack or flashback there would doom him. At least for internships.

Now he wished his dad had offered him. It would be much safer. He'd have Sabo as well. He clenched his fists and took a deep breath. "All new experiences are scary," Zoro said casually, reading Luffy's demeanor. He nodded. Then he signed if he could talk to them about something. Zoro nodded, no doubt knowing what it was about. So did Sanji, as Zoro definitely would have told him, if he didn't already overhear however Zoro had told Marco.

Law watched a bit sadly, and Luffy waved for him to come with them. He looked surprised, but his shoulders didn't slump anymore. The four went to Luffy's room. Luffy could now tell that Law acted differently around him. He didn't really understand why, but he liked to think that he was for some reason Law's favorite. He'd never been a favorite for anything. He had two brothers. Neither could ever claim one of them was a favorite without hurting the others.

Zoro and Sanji had Luffy and each other. They couldn't say Luffy was a favorite. Though he didn't think too much of it. It was the only thing that really explained Law's actions around him. How he smiled more, but also seemed nervous more. He didn't understand, but tried to and also not pry.

Luffy sat on his desk chair and his best friends took his bed while Law sat on the carpet on the floor. I tried to make myself talk and had a flashback. Zoro asked why he had tried to talk, voice low and sad. He wasn't angry at Luffy, though. Sanji asked if he was hurt anywhere. No. I tried to talk because that's probably why I got so little offers. It was in the bathroom but I didn't hit anything too hard.

"That's good," Sanji said. "Maybe working with Oden will be great! Maybe not personally, but he has a ton of strong subordinates. Like Whitebeard does. I'm sure you'll learn a lot." Law asked if he was upset he didn't want to go with him.

No. I'm nervous, but maybe I need to do something big alone. I've always had help and support. I know I need it a lot of the time, but I can't be a burden always. Then he put his hand up when his friends started to protest his words. I meant I can't always have someone to look after me. It's just not practical.

The others nodded, and Luffy changed the subject for them to talk about their own internship offers. What they were excited about. He didn't only want to complain or give sad news about himself. He wanted to hear about them, too. They were all equals, even if Luffy did need more… specialized attention.

The next Monday, Luffy teleported to the outside of the agency. It was modeled differently than most hero agencies. Was more identifiable. He steeled himself and took a deep breath before he cautiously walked inside. He had his briefcase with his outfit and his backpack with the contract inside to be signed. If this was for real.

He walked to the desk and licked his lips before knocking on it to get the attention, since he couldn't speak to get it. Hiyori said they all knew sign language, so now was the time to see if it was true. Though he didn't know why she'd lie to him. "Are you the intern? I recognize you," the guy said.

Luffy nodded, and pulled his contract out. "Oden is out right now, but should be back in just a couple minutes," the man said, looking down at his watch. "For now, you can go change. The dressing room is that way," he said helpfully, sounding perfectly friendly. Luffy thanked him, and he knew the hand movement when he replied with a "you're very welcome" and went back to work. He walked to the room with his suitcase to his chest. He changed immediately, already having his arm and leg sleeve.

He changed in the corner at record speed until he was fully dressed in his costume. His backpack was on, but his clothes were in one of the guest lockers that had a sign above it. He sat in a waiting chair until the hero got there. Luffy stood up.

"Ah, Luffy! Come, I'll sign your contract," he said casually. Luffy followed closely. The man was easily over a foot taller than Luffy. Taller than Roger, which was saying something. He'd gotten Rouge's genes since he was so short and lithe. When they got into his office, Luffy saw it was very personalized. He sat at the desk and gestured for Luffy to sit across from him.

Luffy handed him his contract. "I have some questions, first. Is there anything I should know about you for safety purposes? I ask everybody. Ashura Doji has epilepsy, so things like that should be known." Luffy didn't feel like he was making a jab at him, it sounded honest.

I'm mute and have PTSD, Luffy signed. "I see. Well, it's good you can hear and understand us. Are you on my medications?" Luffy listed his medications, which Oden seemed to deem were not problems. He signed the contract and welcomed Luffy.

"As you know, things are pretty busy with the Villain Alliance. I'm sure you know much about it, considering you're Roger's son." Luffy nodded. "I chose to intern you because I saw at the UA sports festival that you're both physically fit and have a convenient quirk. Can you describe it? Weaknesses and limits?"

Luffy nodded. He explained that he could teleport anywhere he wanted, places or to people. He didn't know if he had a distance limit yet. The main weakness was that he couldn't take anybody but small children with him without the passenger being sick. "What about Law?" Luffy explained he was the only one who didn't get sick, but had chosen another agency. Oden didn't seem disappointed.

"And what is your reason to be a hero?"

I want to rescue people quietly. I don't want people to suffer if I can help it. I don't want people to be like me. He gestured to his face scars. Oden had a new look wash over his face, one of admiration. "It's very honorable to have that desire. Hardships can have upsides sometimes." Luffy nodded, feeling happy. So far it was going very well. "For now, we'll start off with the single thing all heroes must work on: logging events. I want you to observe the office closely, and then I want you to write a summary on what you remembered. It'll be boring today. But this is very important."

Luffy nodded. He knew it was annoying since his family complained about it so much, but logging events was very important. Oden led him to a little outcrop on the wall above the clock. It had a chair and overlooked the entire office. "That's where the interns observe from. No notes, and I'll look over it at 4:00. All hero schools have curfews right now." The teen nodded, and did what he was told, teleporting up instead of using the ladder.

He sat down and observed. Listened and watched everything closely. It wasn't boring when he was so focused on every detail. When Oden came back and told him to write his report three hours later, Luffy came down and got to writing. He ended up needing three sheets of lined paper to finish, and brought it back to the office, knocking on the open door.

Oden beckoned him inside, and Luffy handed him the papers. His handwriting was incredibly neat. Rouge had taught him from the beginning on how to write neatly. It was also exercise for physical therapy on his hands, so he prided himself on his neat writing.

He twiddled his thumbs while Oden read over his log. When he looked up, he asked Luffy if he took any notes during the day. He shook his head. "You have an incredible memory. I'd like to try something. The log is almost abnormally detailed, which is a great thing," he said when Luffy looked panicked for a moment.

He stood up and walked with the man around the busy lobby. He walked to each person and asked Luffy their names and occupation. He listed everybody in the office who was there when he was observing. He even said what he thought their shifts were. Oden was very impressed, and Luffy felt competent.

He was sent back to school with a genuine smile. "I may end up keeping you after internships are over. I'll see you tomorrow, Luffy." Luffy nodded, and got his things and teleported to his room. He let out a tiny smile. Maybe he was worth something to others besides his family and friends.

His friends were all happy with their internships besides Zoro. He had a bruise on his face and was scowling. "The old man punched me for dropping something. So I punched him back. I was fired." Sanji spit out his food and Law gaped. "Ahhh, why did I choose him! And why did I punch him back?!" Self-defense. "It didn't make sense. I punched him back and he laughed loudly before then firing me."

Maybe dad can take you in. I'm sure he trusts you fully. I'll ask. He got his phone out when Zoro didn't protest this idea.

Dad, Zoro was kicked out of his internship. Can you take him in? Luffy texted.

What?! How did he get kicked out?

Garp punched him and so Zoro punched him back. Roger sent back a laughing face, and told him to tell Zoro to call him. Thanks, dad.

Tell me how your first day went after dinner. Luffy agreed. He looked to Zoro and told him that Roger said to call him. "Fuck yeah! Thanks, Luffy." He nodded, glad to help his best friend. The three of them, Zoro, Sanji and Law, were all visibly happy for Luffy's first day. He really liked Oden so far. He knew he'd end up starting out in his dad's agency like Sabo and Ace had. But doing someplace different for now was fun.

The next day, Luffy teleported into the changing room directly and changed before going to the front desk. Though the main hero was out and called him over. He was going to be shadowing the hero to see what the daily routine was like. Luffy agreed and stuck to him, easily staying out of everybody's way, moving to let them past him.

It was more interesting than the day before. It was like he wasn't there. He wasn't upset about it, since he got to see how it worked directly. But then there was news that the Villain Alliance had struck India. They had left China alone after targeting them. Always the schools. They had taken the same measures as Japan and made their schools into dorms.

Well, some couldn't afford it and temporarily shut down their hero courses. Oden swore loudly about it, as they still didn't know the motives of the villains. Then a thought popped into Luffy's head. He didn't know if it was appropriate to interrupt, but he tapped Oden's arm. He turned around but didn't look angry.

Do you think they're making schools turn into dorms on purpose? "What do you mean?" They attacked and then the schools closed up. Then they didn't do anything more and moved on. What if they want all of the students gathered in one place?

Oden frowned deeply. "If that's the case then it's very worrisome." Dad said that the Donquixote family had something to do with artificial quirks. And they stopped now. "Nobody knows how they were possible yet, so we can't really go on anything about those," Oden replied. They moved to the office since they were getting in the way of workers. "If we just knew where their base of operations was, all the countries could gather together and storm them."

Luffy frowned. He had no more hypotheses. Nothing else clicked. Other than that their purpose was to isolate the students. If they did want that generation wiped out, then why had they not attacked when the students were all congregated? It had been many weeks since the USJ attack that was also linked to five other schools. No action was made in Japan again.

It could be that they were looking for something, but didn't find it and moved on. So he signed that. It wasn't helpful, but that's what he was thinking. "We still can't release the students without knowing their objective." Luffy nodded, and didn't sign again. Oden eventually released him as things got crazier and busier inside.

He changed and went back to put his things in his dorm room before he went to his father. Zoro was there, but Luffy stayed out of his sight. He had given Oden all these hypotheses, so he came to tell Roger, too. He should know, he was Luffy's dad. And he took all of them very seriously, recording them in a book.

Roger didn't have any "aha" moment from the theories, but he did say they were important, and he was happy with Luffy. "We always told you you're smart. Now another top pro hero thinks so, too," he said, ruffling Luffy's hair affectionately. "Oh, please bring these to Ace. Rouge cooked it." Luffy took the plate of homemade banana bread. Luffy wasn't a fan of it, so Ace would get all of it.

Despite the news and uncertainty still surrounding the motives in the alliance, Luffy had a good day. He went back and delivered the bread into Ace's room, putting it in the mini-fridge. His room was a mess, even here. Clothes everywhere, papers not in order on the desk. Luffy seemed to have taken after him with the whole clothes-thrown-everywhere. Only he tidied up when others came over.

Nobody in the internships did much other than office work. Shanks said that was how it usually was done, so nobody could really complain about it without sounding stupid. The Three Jis were working with Garp after they were fired from their positions with Isuka for being completely disrespectful. And it was funny seeing them come back with bruises. They weren't brave or stupid enough to punch Garp back.

Though that ended up working out fine for Zoro as he was enjoying working with Luffy's family agency. Sanji was disappointed that he didn't learn much physical assistance from Zeff, the reason he'd gone there. And Law thought Corazon was nice - weird - but nice. Luffy was happy for his friends. Nothing went terribly wrong. Luffy didn't end up needing them. He did everything fine by himself!

It gave him a huge and unfamiliar confidence boost. He was capable of some things. Maybe more things than he ever thought he was.

So, on Friday night, when he had a terrible nightmare and a resulting panic attack once awoken, he was able to forgive himself for it. It was a completely new feeling. Scary, but nice at the same time. He didn't tell his friends about that private moment, not wanting them to think he had high confidence or wasn't insecure anymore.

It would take a long time to be fully confident in himself. But maybe this was another notch up the long, long ladder of healing.

"Once you get your provisional license, you're welcome back here with open arms. Then you can learn more other than paperwork and office procedure," Oden said on the last day of the week. Luffy held his case to his chest and nodded. Oden grinned and told him he expected a lot for him. "Don't lose confidence, you did brilliantly this week."

Luffy hid a tiny smile and nodded shyly before teleporting back to his room. Overall, his intern experience was very nice. Better than most of the others'. But then again, simple kindness and uplifting words weren't that big of a deal for normal people.

"Since there has been no activity in Japan for the last two months, the school has decided to let the camp happen as long as there are multiple pro-heroes on sight," Shanks said one morning. The class cheered, and Shanks didn't scold or stop the outburst, just enjoyed the enthusiasm. He seemed to feed on enthusiasm.

Luffy sometimes found it exhausting, but Shanks was a good guy, regardless. Luffy stayed mostly quiet. He honestly didn't want the camp to happen. It was a training camp for the revised provisional hero license exam. It was dangerous to have so many schools convene outside, so it would be taking place at UA. All the hero schools in the country would be taking place.

It would be a very big and very monitored event.

Luffy was the only one not excited. Well, Law looked pretty bored, too. He had his phone under his desk, not very good at hiding it. Luffy didn't want to go because he'd have to be even closer to his classmates. He'd have to sleep near them, be close to them. What if he had a nightmare in the group room? When if he had a flashback somewhere?

And he'd be hot, outside and exercising with his sleeves on. It was out of the question to take them off, though. So he'd have to endure the heat. He laid his head on his desk with a long sigh. This sounded like a hassle he wanted to avoid. Maybe he could say he was sick. He didn't need any more training for the hero license exam. He could just go home, or train at school with Ace. maybe he could get out of it somehow. Marco would be understanding and let him not go.

He was always understanding, so Luffy was sure he'd be fine with letting Luffy off. He was fine with sleeping with Zoro and Sanji and probably Law, but everyone else? No thank you.

-x-

Luffy held his duffel bag packed full of the supplies they were told they needed. He had dark circles under his eyes and a heavy frown. Law stood next to him silently, also carrying his bag. Both of them were the dark raincloud of the class. Usually there were more than one class, at least two, so this year the camp would be much smaller and more focused.

"This is gonna suck," Law mumbled. He didn't notice he said it, but Luffy nodded in agreement. For once, Luffy deeply disagreed with Zoro and Sanji. They were so excited. Sanji got to be with sweaty girls, and Zoro got to do intense training and "manly-wilderness-shit". But Luffy was sure that had just been a joke.

Law and Luffy gave heavy sighs at the same time and walked onto the bus after putting their bags in the compartment under the bus. Zoro and Sanji sat on one seat and Luffy and Law sat on the one across from it. Law fell asleep first, earbuds in and listening to music so loud Luffy could hear it through his own headphones as he read a book on his phone.

Everyone else was so noisy. Franky was the most optimistic and excited of the class. Hancock didn't want to go because she didn't want to get dirty, even though Marco told her she'd get dirty and needed to accept that. It had been interesting to see her… meltdown.

The bus bumped over a pothole and Law's head moved from against the window to against Luffy's shoulder. He didn't really mind, it didn't bother him and he kept reading like it was nothing. But he heard the girls giggling about it. He wondered why they thought it was funny for them to do it but when they fell asleep against each other it was normal.

Law did wake up and the second he realized he was resting his head against Luffy, he jolted to the side of the window. Luffy looked up at him in surprise. Are you okay? he asked. Law's face was bright red. Luffy didn't think he had to be so embarrassed, but didn't comment on it.

"I'm fine… Did that bother you?" Law asked awkwardly. Luffy said it was fine, they were friends. Law's face for one moment morphed into one of hurt, but it was gone too fast for Luffy to actually be sure it was there. And he was embarrassed already, Luffy wouldn't point it out. Sanji snorted from the side, but Luffy went back to his phone.

When they got off the bus, they were at a very fancy looking house which really didn't fit in the forest area. It was four stories, though it was painted modestly. This is a cabin? "I agree, it looks nothing like an autumn camp place," Zoro said. Marco was already there to help move things upstairs.

Luffy offered to make the process smoother, and just sent all of the bags to the right room once he saw it himself. Nobody had to lug them up two or three flights of stairs. Shanks sounded sad when he said, "Usually, everybody would be sleeping in tents outside, but precautions this year made this place be built. It has two exits and lockable windows. Easy to guard!"

The mute teen made a sigh of relief. Maybe they had their own rooms in this place! It was fancy for a reason, right? For comfort? When they toured the inside, they were all surprised with how bare it was. Though it made sense, really. But it was disappointing and jarring. There was a shared bathhouse for some reason. "Sadly, the other site would have had a hot spring bath, but not here."

Luffy couldn't complain about not having to bathe with a bunch of people. He never bathed with anybody else. Only when it was just him. They were led to two rooms. One was the sleeping area for the girls, and the other was for guys. Luffy stared at the cramped room, balling his fists. Law seemed to get over the mood he was in after he woke up and rubbed Luffy's back.

He looked up to see a sympathetic look in Law's eyes. He knew how he felt. Luffy didn't know what made him know what this felt like, but it made him happy he wasn't the only one uneasy about it. Everyone else seemed to accept this. Zoro snapped that he didn't want to sleep anywhere near Kid.

"Alright, come along," Shanks said, breaking up the arguments and conversations. Law readjusted his hat and looked sad. Luffy wondered why he was so bothered by these circumstances. It wasn't his business to ask, but he was curious. He couldn't help it. They were shown the kitchen. It was very basic. "You'll all be making the food yourselves. Sanji is not allowed to help." The entire class groaned, including Sanji.

Shanks laughed, but said, "It wouldn't be fair or right for Sanji to make everything when he's already used to it. There's no use complaining. Alright, let's go outside and I'll explain how things will be going while we're here.

"Though the setting is quite different from UA's usual camp setting, the purpose is still the same. To train your quirks and make two super moves for the license exam. If you fail it, you have a whole year until you can try again. So it's in your best interest to not fail."

Luffy had a spike of nervousness go through him. Zoro noticed and put his arm around his shoulders loosely. It made him feel better, but he was still scared of failing. He had three chances. And if he failed, the rest of his class would be ahead of him. And his family would be so disappointed in him. The son of a pro hero, not passing the exam.

"Luffy, chill," Sanji said quietly, though not unkindly. "Don't worry about that." Luffy nodded and took a calming breath. The class was led down the stairs and to the outside. The backyard was huge. Well, not the backyard since it didn't end and just merged into the forest. They all looked up the hill that was covered in trees, which had a tall, tall wooden fence with look outs on them.

"This doesn't feel like a camp," Franky said quietly. "Looks more like a prison." The others seemed to outwardly agree with him. This wasn't going to be fun, it seemed.

Shanks said, "Yeah, it doesn't look too fun, but this wasn't to have fun to begin with. It's training, just more restricted with the current situation. It's just lucky enough we are able to hold it, even if it's heavily changed from the usual." The students didn't feel any more uplifted by his words. Their spirits were rapidly tanking about his trip.

Kid cursed loudly about the Villain Alliance. Nobody else said anything to it, but did nod. Luffy balled his fists. This… he felt this wasn't going to be good for him at all. At least he had three people who got him well. Ace was not on this trip, but Marco and four other pro heroes were on site. Then there were the strong women who owned the property and agreed to help shelter the students from any possible danger.

The Kuja. Luffy hadn't seen many but three women in the huge house/cabin. They were ordered to set up their sleeping bags and choose spots they were sleeping in. The drive there from the school had been very long, so they were starting training the next day. Luffy set up his sleeping bag against the window, and his friends surrounded him with theirs.

They went down the three flights of stairs and got to work on dinner. Sanji sat, watching angrily. He kept correcting people for what they were doing wrong. Eventually, it didn't help anymore and caused a fight. "Just shut it! If we fuck over the food, we fuck over the food!" Ichiji souted.

The kitchen turned into a mess of arguing, yelling. It was a terrible environment, and it was overwhelming Luffy quickly. He felt hot and claustrophobic. Marco stepped in and shouted at everybody to be quiet. "I don't care if we're off campus, behave yourselves! You'll be here for four days and three nights. Get used to it quickly."

Everyone was quiet but grumpy as they cooked. Luffy's hands were shaking from the yelling. The loud and sudden noises were overwhelming. Law noticed Luffy in the corner, eyes wide and not focusing on anybody else. He walked over and took Luffy's arm before gently walking him out of the room and into the hall. They could see bodies outside the window, guarding the house. This felt like prison.

"Are you okay?" Law asked quietly.

I don't like it here. I want to go back. "Me too," the taller teen sighed. "I don't want to share a room with a bunch of people. I don't want to bathe with others. I need space to go and recharge." He ran his hands down his face. "This is gonna suck."

Though it wasn't exactly a pep-talk, Luffy knew some of his feelings were mirrored. He didn't like that Law felt this way, but it was nice to have someone to sympathize with. I'm sorry when I make you uncomfortable. "Not your fault. You don't do anything on purpose to make me feel that way." Good. He didn't press and Law didn't say anything further about it. After Luffy had calmed down, the two walked back into the kitchen and saw chaos. Eventually, Sanji did everything himself, snapping at people directions.

The food was terrible, and the atmosphere was terrible. They all ate in awkward and angry silence. Shanks looked horrified with how negative everybody was being. Marco just looked disappointed. It wasn't their fault that all of them felt like this was some facility and not a school autumn camp.

When it came time for bed, they went upstairs and changed in the bathrooms. Luffy wore a short sleeved shirt and shorts, his arm and leg sleeve on as he slept. He hated that, but it was a must. Zoro laid next to him, Law above him and Sanji below. They ended up falling asleep pretty quickly, surprisingly. Maybe it was because he felt so overwhelmed and stressed. He wished Ace had come.

Luffy had trouble sleeping and so did Law so both of them barely went to Luffy's bag and got the sleepytime tea and snuck into the kitchen to make it silently. They were glad there was a water boiler and they didn't need to use a kettle that would wake everybody up.

But that didn't matter, as the light in the kitchen attracted Marco, who was on watch, it seemed, since he was in his usual clothes. "What are you doing?" he asked, though not in an accusing way. Just a simple question. "We have trouble sleeping. The tea helps," Law explained.

"I see. Tomorrow, make it before going to bed. Make sure to return the mugs to the kitchen," Marco said. They both nodded and the man wished them good night. Law returned the favor and the two of them went back up to bed after finishing the tea fairly quickly.

When they woke up, Luffy was so happy that Shanks took him into account and didn't shock them all awake loudly. He knocked loudly on the door, but it didn't scare him. He sat up and saw that almost everybody had bed head besides Zoro, whose hair was the shortest in the class. The Three Jis' hair was hilarious. Without the gel to make it stick in those ridiculous ways, they were just long tangled messes. Zoro could help but laugh at them, unsurprisingly.

Luffy tried flattening his down while Law put his hat on over his messy hair. They made their beds only because it felt appropriate, and then got changed. Luffy changed in the bathroom, and came out in exercise shorts and a short sleeved shirt, both sleeves on. They had breakfast, which was much less of a disaster that the night before had been.

After that, they cleaned the kitchen and then went outside, trying to not look at the tall fences. He noticed one of the people on the fence as look out let out a burst of flames from his hand. Ace was there. He relaxed immediately, knowing his brother was there in case anything happened. In case he needed him.

"So! Each day of the camp will be a day full of training. It will no doubt become uncomfortable or painful." Luffy didn't know why it'd be painful… "Use your quirks to the brink and push further. Deal with the pain to improve! We all want to pass the provisional license exam! Now, start!" Shanks announced.

The students spread out and got to their own training. They were working on their quirks. Luffy's was too straight forward for two supermoves. He was just one place and then he was somewhere else. He approached Marco, not knowing what he should be doing. "Maybe try incorporating your fighting into teleporting?"

It wasn't the best offer, since Luffy already could do that. But he nodded anyway and went near Law, since he was in his own area. But he looked a bit bummed, as well. Marco and Shanks were working with other students as the guards on the fence continued to look outwards. Luffy tried ignoring the structure, but it was hard. This definitely did not feel like a summer camp.

What's wrong? Luffy wondered. Law looked up and then looked at his hands. "I wish I could do more with my quirk. Do more while I'm in the ROOM. All I can do is move things and myself. You can do that without a distance limit or anything before. I wish there was more I could do," he explained honestly.

Maybe you can do more stuff in your ROOM. What do you want to try? Luffy asked, wanting to help him out since he didn't have any idea on how to help himself. Law said he couldn't think of anything to try. You can switch people, right? What if you switched other things about them?

"Like, their personalities?"

Luffy was going to suggest their clothes, but Law's idea sounded more entertaining, so he nodded. It was a funny idea, but it was his, and this was Law's training, not Luffy. "Okay," Law said nervously. "ROOM." He didn't have a name for a move he'd never used, and covered the class with his room.

He focused on Hancock and Franky, the nearest two. He made a motion with his fingers and soon both of them were screaming, Franky's voice in Hancock's body and Hancock's demanding voice in Franky's. People started screaming, and Law immediately switched them back.

Everyone was shocked and Law was pretending it hadn't been him, looking the other way. Luffy thought it was really funny, but the laugh didn't come. It wasn't anything new, laughs were rarer than smiles. He didn't remember the last time he'd laughed. But he could hear Ace laughing from the fence until he was scolded and apologized. Luffy was glad Ace was there so they could talk about it later.

"I can't believe that worked. You have weird ideas," Law said quietly, still hiding the fact it had been him to do that. I was going to offer switching their clothes, but your suggestion sounded more fun. Law turned red but then let out what sounded like an amused sigh and a shake of his head. "Well, it was interesting and gives me hope that I can have more diverse moves."

Luffy sighed about his own. I don't know how I'd have a new move. Law was quiet before he said, "You can teleport objects, right? Without going with them?" Luffy nodded. "What about trying that with people? Maybe it's possible. I mean, I just switched minds and bodies, it wouldn't be so crazy for you."

It was a good idea, and he nodded. But he'd need volunteers. He went to Zoro and asked if he'd help him. Zoro was reluctant at first, but then agreed, wanting to help Luffy. So, Luffy sent Zoro to the other side of the clearing. He appeared there and got sick in the bushes. But it worked! Now, he didn't have to be limited to one person to disappear with.

Luffy tried with Law, who ended up fine out of it. Luffy brought Zoro a bottle of water and a paper towel. Thank you. I won't ask for you to do it again. "Thanks. I'm glad it worked out and I didn't die." Luffy gasped. I'd never do that if I thought it was dangerous! "I know. But it would have been unknown. Just like Law switching Franky and Hancock. That was hilarious!" Zoro said, no longer feeling or acting sick. It seemed to last less time than him manually bringing somebody with him.

"What?! It was you?!" Hancock roared. She ran over and Law dodged her kicks trying to turn him to stone, then ducking from the stone arrows. Luffy watched the one sided fight with a blank look, even if he was amused by all of this. Shanks came over and broke up the fight. "But he switched my soul with that's!" she roared, pointing to Franky.

"It's not like I liked having watermelons on my chest! How the hell do you even walk?!" Kid burst into laughter while Yonji cackled as well. Hancock's face was a deep red in embarrassment and anger. She stormed into the house. Luffy thought the teasing might have gone too far. Law looked uncomfortable.

Shanks said, "For now, no more personality swaps, okay?" Law nodded.

By the end of the day Luffy had helped Law with his quirk than his own. There just wast much to improve. And he wasn't allowed to see how far he could teleport as he couldn't leave the camp grounds alone. And anybody who went with him would be sick and useless in an emergency. So, he was very limited in what he could do there.
