She continued to stare at the door, unable to move. Callie had just told Arizona she loved her, and it was all wrong. It wasn't the right place, nor the right way... but nothing seemed to be right lately. How could it be right that Arizona couldn't remember her past? How could it be right that Arizona was dying..? Callie sighed. It maybe not have been the best way for Arizona to hear of her feelings, but was a fact that she loved her with all she had.

Callie needed to find her. She needed to explain Arizona what had happened. Callie needed to talk with Arizona and try to fix the things. But she wouldn't apologize for her everything. She couldn't. She couldn't apologize for something she didn't regret. She didn't regret asking about Arizona's tests. And of course, she didn't regret declaring her love for the woman.

Callie realized she was crying, but she couldn't pinpoint when the tears had begun. She instinctively brushed them away. All she could see in her mind was Arizona's face... the anger, the fear, the confusion... She had dreamed so many times about telling Arizona she loved her again, and in none of those dreams did things turn out like they had today.

Callie rushed to the door. In her hurry to find Arizona she hit someone who on the other side.

"Watch out!, Dr. Torres."

Callie looked up to see Adam's face, but she said nothing. She didn't want to waste time with him. She decided to keep walking, but Adam had goaded her.

"I would think your parents would have taught you better to than to bump someone and not apologize." Adam said, mocking her.

"Not now, Adam." Callie's tone was cold and full of rage.

"Are you happy now?" Adam continued. Callie abruptly stopped.

"What?"

"I asked you if you're happy now... I mean with all have happened to Arizona..."

Callie turned toward him instantly. "I swear you'll pay for this, Adam."

"Come on, Dr. Torres! Don't play dumb with me... I know you very well. You're happy that she's lost her job. That's what you wanted."

Callie stared at him, incredulous. "What the hell are you talking about?"

"I warned you, remember? I told you to stay away from her, but you didn't listen..."

"Bastard..." An intense battle raged inside Callie. She wanted to hit him, but she knew he was waiting for her to do just that. He wanted Callie to lose her patience, but she wouldn't give him that satisfaction.

"Don't blame me. It's all on you. You enjoy seeing her suffer. I didn't forget why she gave up her grant. It was all for you. And for what? For nothing..."

"Don't you dare - "

"And now, this job... You know why? Because you can't accept she is better than you. You need to feel powerful...

Callie smiled. "You can't you take it, can you? You can't stand that she choose me. She is with me. Have you heard? With ME. Stay away from her or you'll regret it."

"Actually, what I've heard is that she is really upset with you... maybe this is your chance to do the right thing... " Adam was speaking calmly emphasizing every single word. "All you give her is pain... every time she's with you she suffers. If you really love her, just go. Now that your contract is ending, go back to Seattle and let her be happy..."

"She'll be happy. We'll both be happy, Adam. And you... You better take care because I'll do everything I can to make you pay."

"She'll choose me, Dr. Torres."

"Seriously? Do you really think that Arizona would be with you after what you did to her?"

"I did what's best for her. I know she'll see that eventually.."

"You're sick, Adam... you deserve to lose your license..." Callie was furious. She couldn't understand how could a person like him could be a psychiatrist. How could he be Arizona's doctor? She hated to think about the past few years, knowing that she wasn't with Arizona and he was.

"Dr. Boyd, Nicholson's mother is asking for you." A third voice interrupted.

"Thank you, Grace. I'll be right there. Dr. Torres and I are finished here. Aren't we?" Adam said to Callie with a fake smile.

Callie approached him and she whispered. "We don't... I swear this isn't over, you'll pay for you did."

Adam sighed. "It's a shame. You didn't understand anything .. Poor, Arizona..."

As she heard Arizona´s name, and she noticed the underlying threat in his tone, she started to lose control "What the hell - "

"Dr. Torres, is there a problem here?" Dr. Sanders's voice was serious.

"No, sir." Callie knew it wasn't the right time for her confront Sanders, so he kept her thoughts to herself.

"Are you sure?" Callie nodded with a forced smile. "Ok. I was looking you, actually. We need to finish our earlier conversation. You do remember, don't you?"

Of course she remembered. Two days ago the chief told her that her contract would be over within fifteen days. She knew that, but she wasn't prepared to leave Arizona. She needed to convince Arizona to go with her, but she knew Arizona wouldn't want to leave right now. She was torn because she had promised Arizona she wouldn't ask her to come to Seattle right now, but she hated the thought of leaving her behind.

All Callie could do was wait until Arizona was ready. As a result, she asked the chief to renew her contract for another month. Now he was ready to share his decision. She really didn't to have the conversation at that moment, given the timing, but she didn't want to antagonize the Chief. All Callie wanted to do was find Arizona and talk to her. She wanted to explain to her why she acted like she did. Callie needed to apologize to Arizona for blurting out her declaration of love in that way...

However, that would have to wait until after the meeting.

A day that started well quickly became a long and really bad one. After the talk with Sanders Callie tried unsuccessfully to find Arizona.

Callie called her multiple times, but Arizona never answered the phone. Callie picked up Sofia from the daycare and went to Arizona's apartment, but Arizona wasn't there. She and Sofia waited there more than an hour, but Arizona never came.

Callie was worried. She didn't know what to do. The day had passed and she had no idea where Arizona was. She looked for her in the park too, but nothing. Callie even called at Teddy asking for Arizona and told Teddy the events of the day.

Teddy told her that Arizona needed space and Callie should respect that. Even though Teddy tried to calm her down, Callie knew she was equally scared. Despite Teddy's thoughts Callie keep trying, but she couldn't get in touch with Arizona.

A couple hours later Teddy called and told Callie that Arizona was fine. With that Callie felt more serene, though she was angry that Arizona hadn't at least send at her a message.

During dinner Sofia asked for Arizona several times. The little girl was used to see her almost every night and Callie knew that Sofia missed Arizona when she couldn't be with them or when Sofia was at Mark's. In fact, Arizona used to call Sofia and tell her a little story before the little girl's bed time. However, tonight she didn't and Callie was upset about that too, because what happened wasn't Sofia's fault. She hated to see the disappointment on Sofia's face.

However, that wasn't Callie's only frustration. She and Mark argued when she told him that her contract didn't was renewed, but she was considering staying regardless, so she could be there for Arizona. As Mark knew that Callie had a hard day, both agreed to leave that discussion for tomorrow.

Finally, Callie realized she was exhausted. Never was she happier to let fatigue win over her. It was two in the morning and she had passed the last hours tossing and turning in her bed. She was distressed that she had no really news about Arizona. Part of her wanted to run to Arizona's apartment, but she couldn't knowing that it wouldn't be fair to Sofia to drag her out of bed so late. She had to think of her daughter's needs, first and foremost. Her eyes were closing slowly. "Please, be safe..." Callie murmured before she fell asleep.

An annoying noise woke her up. Her first instinct was to check her pager, but she realized the sound was different. She thought that maybe she had been dreaming, but then she heard the noise again. Someone was knocking on the door. She blinked, trying to wake herself up. She just prayed it wasn't Mark on her doorstep, wanting to finish their fight. There was no way she'd agree to leave Arizona behind again, and she wouldn't give up custody of her child.

When Callie opened the door, she was shocked to see Arizona standing in the hall. Her hair was tangled and her eyes were red.

"I - I'm - " Arizona was trying to say something but she couldn't.

Callie sighed, relieved when saw Arizona at her door. But she quickly noticed Arizona's semblance and she was more concerned than before.

"God, Arizona are you ok?" She moved to allow Arizona to come in. "I've been trying to get in touch with you for hours. I swear I sent you a hundred messages and I called you another hundred times and I was so - "

"You didn't keep your word." Arizona said coldly. Callie opened her mouth to reply, but Arizona raised her hand and stopped her. "I was mad. Really, really mad... because you did something that I asked you not to do... and then you just blurted out that you love me and... and I can't -..."

"I'm sorry, Arizona. I'm so sorry." She said in a whisper. Arizona continued to stare at Callie.

"But you did it because you care... I know that... I know from the way you look at me... but - but I wasn't used to that... Don't get me wrong, Teddy cares too, but it's different..." Arizona sighed. "When I met you, I didn't want a relationship because I didn't want your pity and - "

Callie wouldn't allow that Arizona think that she was with her out of pity. "Arizona, I swear never - "

"I know." She claimed. "And that scares me, a lot." Callie frowned, not following what Arizona was trying to say. "I didn't want anything serious with anyone... but you changed my whole world, Callie. I said for years that I didn't want to know anything about my past, but you know what?" Callie remained silent and continued to watch her. "That was a lie... A complete lie..." Arizona laughed nervously. "I didn't want to accept that I was waiting every single day, hoping that someone would come to ask for me... Despite, Teddy I was alone... I feel alone..."

Arizona's eyes were bathed in tears. Callie's heart ached watching Arizona's pain. "Arizona... "

"Please, let me finish..." she gave Callie a weak smile. When Callie nodded, Arizona continued. "I've waited for so long that I knew that no one would ever come looking for me.. Not a mom... or dad... not a brother or sister... That meant that it was just me... Me and Teddy. I wasn't ready for that, I wanted to know about my past, but I was too stubborn to say it loud and too cowardly to accept that I have been afraid to give anyone a chance ..."

"Arizona, you aren't a coward at all..." Callie said affectionately.

"Yes, I am, Callie... but the day you and Sofia showed up in my life... " Arizona smiled remembering the first time she met Sofia. "And I don't trust people, Callie. I don't trust people, but I started trusting you, I did and you.."

"I screwed up" Callie asserted with guilty voice.

"You were my girlfriend for what? Two months? And you told me that you're in love with me... "

Callie knew that that was bothering Arizona. "Can we... can we just forget that I said that..?"

"I was so mad when you said it.. And I was so frightened of my feelings... I've known you for a short time and I just didn't care about my past anymore... I felt happy, I was happy... for the first time in years I was feeling that I was complete... You and Sofia made me happy... " Arizona closed her eyes and breathed deeply. "I shouldn't have run yesterday... I know... I'm an adult woman, who was scared that her girlfriend told her that she loved her."

"I'm sorry that I did it too soon for you, really... Arizona, please, just let the things be as they were... please... I don't want you all stressed over this. I'll wait all the time you need. I promise you." Callie closed her eyes.

"I'm sorry. I can't."

"What? Arizona, please..." Callie almost begged.

"I can't because when I left the hospital all I could think was about you and Sofia... I can't because I hated myself when I remembered your face when I turned back... Yesterday I was stupid. Time doesn't matter, not really."

"Time... Arizona what...? Callie was lost in Arizona speech.

The months we've known each other are enough for me to know that I want you to be happy... and surely I can't make you as happy as you deserve... I'm sure that I'm not enough for you... I'm sick, but you already know that... and I'm selfish because I've let you be worried... but since last night I've tried to call you, but my cell phone is broken because it fell and I couldn't fix it because I don't how to fix a cellphone... or anything... and then it was late and I thought that you were sleeping... and I was upset because I did everything wrong and I - " Arizona was rambling now.

"Arizona, please, calm down..." Callie's voice was full of concern.

"I know you were worried and I'm sorry, really, Callie, I didn't want you to be worried about me."

"Honey, it's ok. Yes I was scared and worried but right now, I know you're fine. And I'm really thankful for that. Ok?

"No... because I'm a mess, Callie. I can't do anything right..."

"Arizona, baby, really - "

"Say it, say it again." Arizona was looking into Callie's eyes.

"Baby...?" Callie said hesitantly.

"No, not that... what you said yesterday..."

"Arizona, - "

"Say it. Please... I need to hear it again... at least you don't feel the same as I - "

"I love you." Callie said with tender loving tone.

Arizona closed her eyes as she was trying to hear it... to feel it... After two seconds she saw the woman in front of her. Suddenly didn't exist nothing else in her world. "I love you too, Callie." Arizona held Callie's face and kissed her passionately.

Callie's eyes remained closed. She had waited so long for to hear those words from Arizona's mouth that she was afraid that it was a dream. "This isn't a dream, right?" Callie asked lovingly.

"No. But I'm starting to think that you're my dream came true... I'm sorry I've reacted in a bad way..."

"Shh, never mind... You're doing great now. Besides, it was my fault... I'm sorry too..."

Arizona smiled and they hugged. Callie felt Arizona's weight over her and she separated herself rapidly. "Arizona, are you alright?" She asked worried. She looked Arizona and noticed the bags. "You look exhausted... Are you feeling well?"

"I'm fine... I'm just a little tired because I couldn't sleep... I needed to come here early... Actually I'm sorry, I woke you up at six in the morning on Saturday..."

"I love that you did it, but I'm taking you at bed. You need rest, we can sleep together for a few hours, ok? I've missed you"

"Will you hold me?"

"The whole time, sweetie. I will never let you go..."

Callie gave Arizona a change of clothes and both were in bed.

"Callie?" Arizona said quietly, before she started to drift off to sleep.

"Mmm?"

"I love you..."

A huge smile adorned the Callie's face. She was over the moon. She knew that they'd have to discuss several things, but right now, she was happy and she wouldn't let anything ruin the moment for her. "I love you too, Arizona, I love you, so so much..." She wasn't sure if Arizona heard it, but it didn't matter. Tomorrow she'd tell her all day, and now that she knew Arizona shared her feelings, nothing made her happier.
