Callie went back and forth down the hall, waiting for someone to come out and give her an answer to what was happening with Arizona.

They had taken her out of the room while they were examining the blonde because her nerves only caused discomfort in the doctors who were trying to help her girlfriend.

Arizona had arrived at the hospital with very compromised vital signs, which implied that they had to act quickly and without interruptions, their concern was to stabilize the patient and they could not bear the interruptions of Callie who was desperate to see her girlfriend in that state but it only generated more chaos

"Torres" heard the voice of his friend approaching quickly. Mark took her in his arms and hugged her tightly, at that moment Callie fell apart,

"Mark, Arizona, she ..." she managed to say before bursting into tears as Mark hugged her tightly.

Shhh, calm down ..." Mark kissed her head and let her cry for a few minutes to vent.

"What happened?" he asked in dismay

"I don't know ... I got home and Sofia was crying, she was in the bathroom trying to control the bleeding, she was losing blood from her nose and while she was waiting for the paramedics she collapsed" when she said the last word again the crying invaded her "Arizona collapsed in front of me and I couldn't do anything Mark, nothing ... "

Mark sighed, he knew there would be nothing he could do to make her friend feel better, but he had to try. "Everything will be fine, calm down" he knew that that phrase lacked truth, he could not assure it, but in those moments, faith, the hope that everything will improve and everything would remain as a bitter memory is the only thing that allows those who must wait for answers to remain firm ... "I'm here for whatever you need"

"Sofia, please when your shift is over, look for Sofia, I had to bring her, I couldn't communicate with Lexi and she is very upset," she explained anguished

"Lexy's cell phone broke at night, but I can ask Thomas the neighbor to let him know and I'll stay with you" Mark did not want to leave his friend alone at a time like this, and he was also very worried about Arizona, after all these years he had a special bond

Callie thought about it for a few seconds "No, I'd rather you look for her, she needs her dad, she cried because she didn't want to leave Arizona but she couldn't bring her up here"

"Are you sure? because I can… "Mark tried to persuade her but he couldn't.

"I'm sure, go, I'll be fine, seriously." Callie smiled weakly to try to encourage him.

The minutes passed by feeling like hours, anxiety and anguish gnawing at her inside until finally the door opened and some of the doctors who were treating Arizona left the room.

"How is she? Derek, tell me what's going on? " Callie asked frantically without even letting them finish leaving to pounce on them.

Derek took a deep breath, taking a second to tackle the situation as best he could. "At the moment she is stabilize, but we must make an urgent decision"

"I already sent for Altman" Bailey commented to Derek who nodded.

Callie looked at Derek waiting for him to continue with his story but he remained speechless "Derek, what the hell should we decide?" she asked anguished

"Sorry, we need Altman to arrive" he answered calmly before the stunned look of the orthopedic surgeon

"Can you explain to me why the hell we are losing time if you tell me that urgent decisions have to be made? Tell me what is happening with Arizona and what are the alternatives that we should evaluate, Teddy can find out later" Callie began to lose patience

"Torres, Robbins suffered a ruptured aneurysm and ..."

"What? And what the hell are you doing standing here Derek? Take her to the operating room now! " Being a surgeon, she knew perfectly what that condition implied and the risk of death that it presented, mainly for Arizona.

"Here I am, what happened?" asked Teddy as she came running down the hall "I came as soon as I received the message, sorry but I was in a complex surgery"

"Altman, I was telling Torres that Robbins is in critical condition, we must intervene urgently, the rupture of the aneurysm is very risky for her, but it also presents us with the opportunity to try to remove at least a large part of the tumor, but you must decide now" Shepherd's tone was serious and worrying. "Also I must clarify that it is something very risky too ... it can cause irreversible damage ..." before continuing he sighed "or death"

"Just go and stop bleeding once in a damn time, we're not going to risk it." Just hearing the possible danger made it impossible for Callie to even consider taking a chance, regardless of the possible benefits.

Derek looked at Teddy "Altman?" he asked looking at the cardiovascular surgeon under Callie's stunned gaze.

"Let's do it" she replied, closing her eyes, she knew that it was a great responsibility that was being asked of her.

"What? Arizona is my girlfriend, I'll be the one to decide, and I'm sorry Teddy, I know you're her best friend but the decision is mine and I'm not going to put her life at risk any more than it already is "declared Callie furious looking at her friend

Teddy looked down, Callie still hadn't found out. "Sorry Torres, Altman has the last word," said Bailey. "Shepherd, you heard, go save her." she said looking at the neurosurgeon

"Someone explain to me what is happening here ! She is the friend, I am her girlfriend! " Callie was starting to get frustrated

"She has the power to decide, Robbins gave her that right," Bailey explained.

"It's not like that, we signed the papers a long time ago and Arizona left me in charge, so please go do your job now!" her voice shook from the mixture of feelings of terror of losing her love and the fury of having to be explaining details in decisive moments

"She revoked them a couple of weeks ago, I'm sorry ..." Teddy declared almost shyly, she knew what Callie should be going through and deep down he felt responsible for that.

"It can't be ..." Callie couldn't believe her ears. "She wouldn't do that to me ... There must be a mistake ..."

"Torres, there isn't, I was there. Altman makes the decisions, and we already listen to her "

"Teddy, please, stop this before it's too late, I beg you ..." Callie pleaded between sobs, anger invaded her at what was happening, it should not be Teddy who would decide on the future of her girlfriend, but if she should plead to change the decision before the surgery began she would. "I beg you…"

"I'm sorry Callie, it's what she wanted" Teddy's eyes were full of tears, she knew that she could be the culprit for ending the life of her friend, but she had promised it "she made me promise that ..."

Teddy couldn't complete the sentence because Callie interrupted, she didn't need or want to keep listening. "Bailey, please don't allow it ..."

"Sorry Torres, you know the rules"

Callie looked at them for a second as if her eyes could glare at her "go to hell!" she yelled and walked away quickly, she couldn't stay there for another minute, she felt like she was drowning, she wanted to scream, wanted to cry, she wanted to be able to stop the procedure by which the life of the person she loved and dreamed by her side forever was in danger... "

· "Callie, listen ..." Teddy tried to follow the brunette but Bailey stopped her.

· Leave her, she needs some time alone ... "

"I knew this would happen ..." Teddy muttered

"Robbins too, but she knew what she was doing, if she chose you it's because she trusted you would make the decision she wanted, don't torment yourself, whatever happens, it's what she would have wanted.

"Are you sure?" she asked in a broken voice. It no longer mattered how many times they told her she did or did not do the right thing, she would know in a few hours, only one result would have been the right thing, any other alternative would make it the worst mistake of her life and she would never forgive herself

In the silence of the chapel, only her sobs were heard. It had been a couple of hours now and she was panicking to move, she did not want to face reality, she was terrified just thinking that there was a possibility of losing the love of her life and that she had not been able to avoid it.

The initial surgery was complicated and had great risks, but now those risks had multiplied and her word was worthless, Arizona did not trust her to decide on her health and that tormented her. With her eyes closed she prayed over and over again asking for a miracle, she no longer knew how many prayers she had uttered, she only knew that if there was a place where she could hide from the world it was there ...

She looked at her watch and the hours seemed not to advance, the surgery was very complex and she knew it would take several hours, but she didn't have the strength to wait in the room and much less wanted to witness it.

She didn't want her last memory to be seeing her on that gurney while they racked her brain ... but neither did that image of Arizona fading before her eyes that repeatedly appeared in her mind ...

"Please God, don't let anything happen to her, please ..." Tears rolled down her cheeks and seemed to never run out. A mix of emotions ran through her, on the one hand the pain of knowing that Arizona was fighting between life and death and on the other the anger of feeling displaced by her …

"Callie, let me explain" she heard Teddy's voice

"This is no place to talk, nor am I interested in talking to you." she coldly replied without even looking at her

Teddy sighed, and decided to give it a few more moments. "They're still operating on her, Derek ..."

"I have an intern who keeps me up to date, I don't need your details" she interrupted. After a few seconds Callie turned violently and glared at Teddy "If something happens Arizona ..." her voice cracked "if something happens to her, it is your responsibility and I hope you can live with that, because for my part you can be sure I'm not going to forgive you" she broke into a disconsolate cry, she knew she was surely being unfair to Teddy, but the pain she felt was so great that it burned her soul.

"Why did she do it? tell me why?" Callie asked almost pleading

Teddy smiled bitterly "She didn't want you to suffer ..."

"Yes of course…. she did very well so" She mockingly replied

"She did not want to put you in this position, which I assure you is horrible, she loves you and wanted to avoid being in my place, because I have news for you, it is horrible…. she just wanted to protect you, she couldn't even think that you were going to blame yourself if this happened and a decision had to be made, she wanted to take this weight off your shoulders ...

"Upset!? Upset? I am furious, furious with both of you, with you for risking your friend's life as if you didn't care, and with her for leaving such an important decision in your hands, I thought I was worth a little more in her life than this." She stood to leave the place, she was already getting worked up.

Teddy seemed annoyed with the words of her friend's girlfriend "You think so? What are you not worth to her? Look, I understand that you are afraid because what may happen to Arizona, I understand that you are suffering, but that woman loves you and you are the most important thing for her, for that reason a couple of days ago we changed roles and she put me back in the same position ... again I'm the one who carries the blame ... Do you know what it feels like? Because I do! I suffered from it for years ! And I knew that this is what she wanted because we talked about it, when Derek asked her that there was a possibility that the case would get complicated and that it would be necessary to intervene, she decided to try everything, everything necessary to be able to be with you without seeing your worried face every morning…. She wants to live a full life with you and Sofia without feeling that she is a burden to you ... "Teddy's eyes were filled with tears, not only did the pain of knowing that her friend was in the operating room, but that Callie blaming her if something happened was too much, because she already blamed herself , if something happened it would be her fault.

Callie looked at her for a few seconds, opened her mouth as if to say something but then closed it and left the place without saying a word.

Callie was observing the people around her, the waiting room was full, being always on the other side of the door she had not noticed the anguish that one feels when waiting for the doctor to come out to give the report …

That feeling of feeling that time never advances ... of hearing the disconsolate cries of those who receive bad news and internally begging not to go through the same thing ...

As the memories begin to parade through the mind and we wonder over and over again if that was the last time we would have done that ... or if it was the last smile we saw drawn on her face, or the last laugh we heard, the last kiss that we gave ...

Her heart stopped when she watched Derek approach, stopped abruptly to wait for him.

From the other side of the room, Teddy rushed to join Callie since he had given her the distance that the brunette needed so as not to bother her, to be able to listen to the words of the surgeon who had had her friend's life in her for more than 8 hours.

"How is she? Derek! How is Arizona ? " Callie asked hysterically trying to read his features and know what had happened

"Torres, Altman" he said looking at both women, who he knew were very dismayed by the situation. "Robbins is stable, she ..."

"What the hell does stable mean, I want details, I know the medical terms perfectly, don't beat around the bush with me" she ordered in a bad way.

Shepherd raised his eyebrow showing that the tone he was using bothered him, but he would let it pass because he understood what she was experiencing. "It means that we have removed a large part of the tumor, we have not been able to advance further because the risk was too much and we had a couple of complications" Callie emitted a sob but let him continue with the explanation. "I think we have a possibility of later encapsulating what remains of the rest of the tumor through chemotherapy, but it is something that we will have to analyze later ... the prognosis for now is reserved, but I think we can say that the operation was a success, for now We just have to wait… "he smiled shyly at his colleagues, who did not hide their tears

Thank you very much Derek "replied Teddy who had lifted a great weight off his shoulders.

Callie rushed him and hugged him tightly, although the crying did not allow her to utter words he knew it was her way of saying thank you ...

"May I come by to see her," Callie asked anxiously a little calmer.

"In a few minutes, when they take her to the room, you can stay with her, okay?"

Callie just nodded and continued to dry her tears, if she was going to go to the room with Arizona she had to compose herself.

Callie was sitting next to the bed of her girlfriend who was asleep due to the anesthesia from the surgery.

The sound of the machines connected to her echoed in her ears, but she couldn't help looking at them continuously to check that all was well.

She had contacted Mark to let him know that the surgery had ended and to be able to speak with Sofia, she knew that her daughter was shocked by the situation. Despite her attempts to calm her down, Sofia insisted on going to visit the blonde, she only agreed to calm down when Callie hinted that Arizona would not like that behavior when she found out when she woke up from the nap that she needed to recover….

Arizona looked so fragile in that bed, but at the same time she seemed to be immersed in a placid dream. She did not want anything other than to end this whole nightmare ... with one inert hand she held her girlfriend's, and with the other she gently caressed her cheeks.

Anguish won over her again, a lump formed in her throat and she could no longer hold back the tears. "I love you" she whispered sweetly. "I love you very, very much Arizona, but why did you do this to me ...?" she asked in a broken voice. "I can't live without you, I'm so scared…"another sob leaves her mouth.

"I'm sorry" was heard in an almost imperceptible tone and Callie froze. She watched her girlfriend to see if it was her imagination or Arizona was reacting.

"Arizona? baby?" She asked in a shaky but excited voice. The blonde had her eyes closed, it had been a product of her imagination, she wondered but Arizona began to open her mouth again as if she were trying to speak.

"Easy, don't push yourself, I'll call Derek, everything will be fine," instructed the brunette, she knew that Arizona was wanting to talk even though she kept her eyes closed. When she was going to get away from the bed she felt Arizona's hand try to hold her tighter.

"Calliope ..." she murmured hoarsely due to the dryness of his throat.

"What's wrong? Does your head hurt? I already called the nurse to let Derek know, they must be arriving and… "

Arizona swallowed trying to speak but was clear the effort she was doing and Callie approached her lips to try to hear what she wanted to say to her.

"Will you marry me?" The question vanished into thin air and took Callie by surprise. Arizona was still with her eyes closed and although her tone of voice was very low she was sure of what she had heard.

A huge smile spread across her face, but she never made the answer because Arizona was asleep again.
