Chapter 1:
A Mega Announcement
My name is Brendan Seaview, but you probably know that. Why? Well, it could be something to do with the fact that I am the Champion of the Hoenn region, and have been since I was 12. I'm 24 now, but it still feels like yesterday since I beat Steven Stone and brought his reign to an end.
If you don't know me as that then you might just know me as someone who almost has all the Ribbons he needs to be a Contest Champion. I'm one away (all I need is the Master Beauty Ribbon), but of course new competitors come along.
But we'll get to that soon enough. The Hoenn region. It's an amazing place filled with every kind of environment imaginable. It has a dense rainforest, an active volcano and more caves than you could shake a stick at. I moved here a couple years ago, and the day I moved was the day I started my journey.
With my partner Mudkip, who was supplied to me by Professor Birch, we travelled around and collected the Badges. Mudkip is a Swampert now.
Swampert (ラグラージ)
#009 (Hoenn)
Water/Ground Type
Mud Fish Pokémon
4'11" (1.5 m)
180.6 lbs (81.9 kg)
Swampert predicts storms by sensing subtle differences in the sounds of waves and tidal wings with its fins. If a storm is approaching, it piles up boulders to protect itself.
Mudkip -Lv 16- Marshtomp -Lv 36- Swampert
Shiftry I caught as a Seedot. It was one of my first Pokémon. I caught it on Route 104.
Shiftry (ダーテング)
#024 (Hoenn)
Grass/Dark Type
Wicked Pokémon
4'03" (1.3 m)
131.4 lbs (59.6 kg)
Shiftry is a mysterious Pokémon that is said to live atop towering trees dating back over a thousand years. It creates terrific windstorms with the fans it holds.
Seedot -Lv 14- Nuzleaf -Leaf Stone- Shiftry
Seviper I caught on Route 110, just before a Contest.
Seviper (ハブネーク)
#129 (Hoenn)
Poison Type
Fang Snake Pokémon
8'10" (2.7 m)
115.7 lbs (52.5 kg)
Seviper's swordlike tail serves two purposes – it slashes foes and douses them with secreted poison. This Pokémon will not give up its long-running blood feud with Zangoose.
Seviper has no known evolutions.
Machamp is the only one on my main team whose species family wasn't originally discovered in Hoenn. I caught it at the descent from Mt. Chimney as a Machop.
Machamp (カイリキー)
#077 (Hoenn)
Fighting Type
Superpower Pokémon
5'03" (1.6 m)
286.6 lbs (130 kg)
Machamp has the power to hurl anything aside. However, trying to do any work requiring care and dexterity causes its arms to get tangled. This Pokémon tends to leap into action before it thinks.
Machop -Lv 28- Machoke -Trade- Machamp
Armaldo was revived from a Claw Fossil at the desert on Route 111 as an Anorith.
Armaldo (アーマルド)
#141 (Hoenn)
Rock/Bug Type
Plate Pokémon
4'11" (1.5 m)
150.4 lbs (68.2 kg)
Armaldo's tough armor makes all attacks bounce off. This Pokémon's two enormous claws can be freely extended or contracted. They have the power to punch right through a steel slab.
Anorith -Lv 40- Armaldo
Revived from a Claw Fossil.
Finally, the newest member of my team is Dusknoir. I traded my Dusclops with one of Elite Four member Phoebe's Dusclops holding a Reaper Cloth to evolve it. This evolution was originally discovered in the Sinnoh region. I know I said Machamp was the only species not originally discovered in Hoenn, but it didn't have a link to any other evolutionary lines discovered in the region. Technically, Dusknoir was discovered in the Sinnoh region.
Dusknoir (ヨノワール)
#155 (Hoenn)
Ghost Type
Gripper Pokémon
7'03" (2.2 m)
235 lbs (106.6 kg)
The antenna on its head captures radio waves from the world of spirts that command it to take people there.
Duskull -Lv 37- Dusclops -Trade with Reaper Cloth- Dusknoir
I have other Pokémon to, but those are the ones I tend to use. Well, plus Latios.
Latios
#206 (Hoenn)
Dragon/Psychic Type
Eon Pokémon
6'07" (2 m)
132.3 lbs (60 kg)
Latios has the ability to make its foe see an image of what it has seen or imagines in its head. This Pokémon is intelligent and understands human speech.
Legendary Pokémon
Other than Dustox, Mightyena, Relicanth and Swellow on the backburner, that's the Pokémon I use. Anyway, it's been a few years since I went on my journey. But a visit from a certain someone would lead me into a new one…

The Mega Adventures of Pokémon the Journey: ORAS
Based on the works by Game Freak.
Location: Littleroot Town
It had been an exhausting day beforehand. Was in a battle with some green hair dude with a Reshiram. It was a tough one, but I pulled through. I had been doing battle after battle, and I needed some time off. So the League let me have it. I wanted to spend some time in Littleroot Town, the place where I moved to.
Whilst I now have my own place in Mauville City now (which has since been done up big time), I just wanted to see Mum. She still has my room intact.
"Brendan!" Mum yelled. "May is here!"
I got up. May is my best friend; we met when I arrived in Hoenn. She is the daughter of Professor Birch, the Professor of Hoenn who studies Pokémon in their natural habitat.
I rushed downstairs. "Hey Champ!" said May. "Dad wants to see us at the Lab! Wally is there to!"
Wally is my second-best friend. He journeyed separately from us. But it wasn't easy; he has breathing difficulties which made it a bit harder for him. But he pulled through, and he's a strong Trainer.
Oh yeah, I also have a younger sister named Kiri. She's 12 years old and travelling the world. She uses a Meganium, Metagross and Wobbufett. I supplied those with her at a young age when they were still in their first forms.
Location: Professor Birch Lab
Me and May walked through the lab to see the Professor.
"Hi Dad!" May said. "What have you got for us today?"
Professor Birch grinned. "I have… a task."
"Hold up!" Wally ran up to us just in time. "Sorry I'm late. I had a breathing attack and I needed to lay down for a bit. Dad agreed to drive me."
"Are you okay to do this?" Professor Birch asked. "It's a big task. If it's too much-"
"No," Wally said. "I've been on a quest before. I can take on anything in small doses."
Professor Birch nodded. "Well, in that case, I would like you to meet our guest."
From round the corner came a man in a white lab coat with a blue undershirt.
"Is that…" Wally asked.
"Oui!" he said. "Je m'appelle Professor Augustine Sycamore. I am a Scientist from the Kalos region who studies an amazing phenomenon."
"What?" May asked. "We've seen all kinds of amazing phenomenon in Hoenn."
Professor Sycamore got out a book and turned the pages to a symbol that looked a bit like a DNA strand.
"Is that…" Wally asked. "Mega Evolution?"
"You know your stuff!" the Professor said. "Oui, I have come all the way from Kalos to find the three of you. Me and Professor Birch were good friends back in the day, and when I heard 12 years ago that he helped you on your journeys, I was thrilled! So now, I wanted to find you and give you… these." In the Professor's hand, he held three stones. One was blue with an orange strand inside. "Brendan, this is the Swampertite. It can Mega Evolve Swampert."
"No way!" I shouted. "Thank you- I mean, gracias? Is that what they say in Kalos?"
The Professor grinned. "Good effort. Next, May." He held out a green orb with a pink strand inside. "This is the Sceptilite. It can Mega Evolve Sceptile."
"Wow," May said. "If only I knew what that meant."
"And for Wally, I present you…" The Professor handed Wally a pink ball with a green and pink strand inside. "The Galladeite! It can Mega Evolve your Gallade! May I see it?"
"Sure," Wally said. "Come on out!" Wally sent out a Pokémon with a white bottom half and a blue top half. It had blades on its elbows.
Gallade (エルレイド)
#032 (Hoenn)
Psychic/Fighting Type
Blade Pokémon
5'03" (1.6 m)
114.6 lbs (52 kg)
A master of courtesy and swordsmanship, it fights using extended swords on its elbows.
Ralts -Lv 20- Kirlia -Dawn Stone (Male only)- Gallade
"Hey, the one my Pokédex is registering is green," I said. "Is it a Shiny?"
"Yep!" Wally said. "I couldn't believe my eyes when I discovered the different looking Ralts. And now I get to Mega Evolve it!"
"Not quite yet," Professor Sycamore said.
"Oh yeah," May asked. "What is Mega Evolution?"
"It's a magnificent transformation that select Pokémon can go through which heightens their strength and can even change their Type and Ability. It's not permanent though. Once a battle is over, they revert back to their original state."
"Amazing!" I said. "And we can do it now?"
"No," Professor Birch said. "You need a Key Stone first and an unbreakable bond, something which you guys undoubtedly have with your Pokémon."
"Then let's find a Key Stone!" Wally said. "But… where do we start?"
"I think I know," I replied. "Professor, thank you again. We're going to find a Key Stone now. And I believe I may have a good idea of where it might be…"
Location: Dewford Town
"Here we are," I said. "Thanks again Skeeter."
"No problem," said the man on the boat. "I'm here to continue Mr. Briney's legacy for you. He was a great man. I'll pick you up tomorrow and take you to Slateport. Good luck in your Contest tomorrow Brendan."
With that, he started the motorboat and skimmed across the sea.
"So, why Dewford Town?" Wally asked.
"Granite Cave," I said. "I could be wrong, but I believe we may just find someone who will know a thing or two about stones."
Location: Granite Cave
This was a place that brought back memories. After I had won the Knuckle Badge from Brawly, I came here for some training and a delivery.
"Are you really expecting Key Stones to just turn up in a cave?" May asked.
"No," I said. "I'm not saying we'll find Key Stones. I'm saying we MIGHT find someone who knows about them."
We walked onwards, when suddenly a Pokémon appeared. It was a Makuhita.
Makuhita (マクノシタ)
#049 (Hoenn)
Fighting Type
Guts Pokémon
3'03" (1 m)
190.5 lbs (86.4 kg)
Makuhita has a tireless spirit- it will never give up hope. It eats a lot of food, gets plenty of sleep, and it trains very rigorously. By living that way, this Pokémon packs its body with energy.
"Seviper, go!" I shouted, sending out my Poison Type. "Use Poison Jab!" Seviper jabbed Makuhita with its sharp tail, knocking it out instantly.
"You're so strong!" May said.
"It was only Level 10," I said. "Okay, follow me." As we continued walking, I saw a hooded figure in the distance. I would make out some short black hair, but that was it before the figure ran off.
We went to the end of the cave to a large mural on the walls. My hopes were true. There was a silver-haired man looking at the mural with a torch. I cleared my throat, and he looked round.
"Hello Steven," I said.
"Brendan? Hello. What are you doing here? With friends nonetheless."
"We want to ask you about these," we said, holding up our Mega Stones.
"Fascinating," Steven said. "Keys to unlocking Mega Evolution. I never thought I would see these."
"I know," Wally said. "But we're missing a piece of the puzzle. Key Stones. You wouldn't know where to find them?"
Steven looked at us. "I do, but I would like to show you something first." He shined his torch up at the mural again. They depicted the legendary clash between Kyogre, the Pokémon of the seas and Groudon, the Pokémon of the land. However, they looked a lot more menacing than before. "There has been a discovery. Brendan. When you first fought Kyogre and Groudon all those years ago, it was only a fraction of their power. When they fought, they had a much more primitive form. A Primal form specifically. We call it Primal Reversion, which could have a link to Mega Evolution." Steven shone the torch up again to the drawing of Rayquaza. It also looked a lot more sinister. "I'm sure you know the story a bit more to. Rayquaza was the one who quelled the fight between Kyogre and Groudon. But due to the catastrophic power, Rayquaza couldn't silence them. So, as a last resort, it Mega Evolved to stop them. But without a Key Stone or a human to activate it, we don't know how this could have happened. Which is why…" Steven got out a box. "I would like you to find out." He opened the box to reveal three…
"Key Stones?" the three of us shouted together.
"Yes. Professor Birch and Professor Sycamore told me about this little research task of yours, so I kept these for you. You all deserve them. I've also supplied then with these." Steven put two Key Stones in a white bracelet. "And for you Wally, a present from your father." He put the final one in a wooden pendant.
Each of us received our gifts and put them on. "Thank you," I said on behalf of everyone else, who were still in shock.
"And one more thing, for Brendan and May specifically." In the box, he opened a compartment to reveal two more Mega Stones. Both were purple, with one having a blue strand inside and another having a red strand. "These are the Latiosite and Latiasite."
"Wow," me and May said, picking them up.
"I don't believe it," I said. "We can Mega Evolve our Legendary!"
"And this leads us onto the final gift." Steven got out two wooden flutes. "Have your Legendary Pokémon hold this and play it. You'll find out what can happen. Okay, I should get back to research. Thank you so much for visiting."
Location: Dewford Town
That night, the three of us looked out to sea.
"I don't believe it," I said. "We can Mega Evolve our Pokémon."
"I know," May said. "Including Latios and Latias."
"Hey!" Wally said. "Let's try Mega Evolving now!"
"Great idea!" I said. "Swampert, go!"
"You're up Gallade!"
"Sceptile, come out!" May sent out her partner.
Sceptile (ジュカイン)
#003 (Hoenn)

Sceptile has seeds growing on its back. They are said to be bursting with nutrients that revitalize trees. This Pokémon raises the trees in a forest with loving care.
Treecko -Lv 16 Grovyle -Lv 36 Sceptile
"Let's do it," I said. "When our hearts become one…" I pushed the Key Stone, and May and Brendan did the same. "Beyond evolution…"
"MEGA EVOLVE!" we all shouted. Energy started surrounding our Pokémon. Then, after a burst, they all looked different! Swampert looked far more muscular, and its cheek fins were longer.
Mega Swampert (メガラグラージ)

Finally, Gallade had gained an almost cloak-like appendage on its back. Its blades were even sharper.
Mega Gallade (メガエルレイド)
#032 (Hoenn)
Psychic/Fighting Type
Blade Pokémon
5'03" (1.6 m)
124.3 lbs (56.4 kg)

"This isn't happening!" May said.
"It is!" Wally shouted.
"Okay everyone," I said. "Onwards to new adventure!"
