Gilbert Residence.
December 6th.
Elena and Stefan are seated on Elena's bed, a box between them as Elena questions her boyfriend.
"Stefan, who was that man from the road? The one I hit with my car?"
Stefan sighed, not knowing the answer.
"I don't know. Do you remember anything about him?"
She shook her head.
"I wish. I never really saw his face. He was wearing a hoodie. All I can remember is that there was these black boots coming towards me."
Stefan nodded before bringing some things out of the box, showing them to Elena.
"I brought some vervain for, um—for you, Jenna and Cherith."
Stefan then brings out a nice leather bracelet.
"And, um, I made this bracelet for Jeremy, few extra ones for friends too."
He hands Elena the bracelet and she takes it and observes it.
"You can put the vervain in jewelry, or you can even put it in food or drink, but as long as it's in you or on you, a vampire cannot control you."
Elena nodded.
Stefan hands Elena a small vial of liquid vervain.
"Wow… so much to remember"
She mumbled, slightly confused and Stefan nodded sympathetically at her as she picked up a dried up vervain.
"I know, but there's another vampire in town. So until we find out who it is and what he wants, we have to be careful."
Elena nodded understandingly.
"It's okay. This could give me the chance to get something nice for Cherith."
Stefan gave her a small smile.
"She's still not talking to you?"
Elena sighed, a feeling of guilt settling in her heart.
"Yeah. She avoided me all through yesterday. Our fight… it wasn't, pretty…"
Stefan brushed his hand softly on her cheek.
"It's okay. I'm sure she'll come around."
Elena scoffed slightly.
"One thing you should know about my sister, Stefan, is that she knows how to hold a grudge. Always has even just a few months after she was born. And so, this vervain is an opportunity to get her something nice looking at least."
Downstairs, Jeremy is sketching at the dining table when the bell suddenly rang, and he stood up to open the door.
It was the pizza guy.
He smiled at Jeremy, bringing out the pizza from the bag.
"Hey! It's gonna be 22 dollars."
He said and Jeremy nodded, turning up the stairs.
"Elena! The pizza money!"
He then turned back to the pizza guys, waving him in.
"Hey you can come in. Just, put it on the table, she'll be down soon."
With that, Jeremy turned and walked back to his drawing while Elena came down to pay.
"Hi um… keep the change."
She said nicely and he collected the money, looking at her rather creepily as be back walked out.
"Thanks. And uh, you have yourself a goodnight."
Elena smiled at him, closing the door and the pizza guy smirks as he turns, putting his hoodie back on and jogging off.
Cherith sat cross legged in her room, a hand glowing by her side as she levitated a book she was currently reading, a red energy field surrounding it.
It had been over a day since she'd started ignoring her sister.
It wasn't like she was as angry as before anymore, no. It was just that she was pissed at the way her sister had worded her sentence.
Oh, she knew Elena was still reeling from finding out she was adopted, but she really had no filter sometimes.
Yesterday, in order to ignore her, she'd followed Leslie shopping after school for the 50s decade dance and honestly, she didn't want to brag… much, but she knew she was going to rock it!
A knock brought her out of her musings and the floating book fell to the bed.
"Cherith?"
Elena's voice sounded and Cherith quickly covered herself up, pretending to be asleep.
She really wasn't in the mood to talk to her right now.
Also… she wanted her to stew for a bit.
She heard the door quietly creak open and she squeezed her eyes shut as footsteps move towards her.
There was a sigh before Elena finally spoke up.
"I know you're awake Cherry, just please talk to me."
Cherith ignored her, still closing her eyes and Elena sighed.
"Fine. I'll leave you, for now. But we'll have to talk later."
She then dropped something that sounded like a plate by the desk and walked out of the room, closing it and Cherith opened her eyes to see 2 slices of pepperoni pizza and a bottled water by her desk and she slowly sat up, stomach rumbling.
Of course she knew they'd have to talk later… but she would be as petty as she wanted because Elena was doing the same thing to Jenna, anyways.
Her tummy grumbled again and she quickly sat up.
"Yep, food now, worry later."
She grumbled, rushing to grab the plate when her legs got caught in her sheets and she fell to the ground with a slight tumble.
Cherith groaned, staring up at her ceiling, cursing before moving to stand up.
"Wow… my magic didn't even deem it fit to protect me like it had done before. How… nice…"
She gritted out.
December 7th.
Elena walked out of the Grill, heading towards her car when her phone began to ring in her bag.
She rummaged through it, picking and pressing it to her ear as she got to her car.
"Hello?"
"Hello Elena."
"Hey, who's this?"
She asked, slightly confused.
"You hit me with your car. Is that a new one?"
He mocked and Elena stopped, getting scared as she slowly turned around and spotted a hooded figure a few feet away from her.
She gasped slightly, quickly entering her car as he began walking towards her.
"You, got away from me. You won't next time."
Elena locked her door, quickly putting on the ignition and zooming off as the vampire smirked.
That night, Cherith sits by her desk, typing away at a project she was working on when a knock on her door was heard.
"It's open."
She called out and Elena walks in, though she doesn't notice as her back was to the door.
"Cherith, hey…"
Elena began and Cherith groaned, still typing away.
"You're not welcome in this room, Elena."
"We still need to talk. I'm really sorry for the things I said to you that night. I didn't mean any of them. I was just… really hurt, that I had this huge secret being kept from me. And you're right. I guess I turned my anger on Jenna since she's the only one who can practically tell me the truth and she didn't."
She sighed, sitting at the edge of Cherith's bed and Cherith stopped typing, turning to her sister.
"Will you at least talk to her? She already feels bad enough as it is."
She gestured to Elena who nodded.
"Yeah, I'll… we'll talk tomorrow."
Cherith gave her a look and Elena stifled a smile.
"Promise."
Cherith grinned, standing up and moving to sit next to her sister.
"Great. Then I guess I can find it in the goodness of my heart to… let you off."
Elena chuckled, pressing a hand to her chest and trying to look respectful.
"Wow… I am, truly honored, your Grace."
Cherith waved her off with a scoff and Elena suddenly brought out a silver charm bracelet with only one charm on it which was a fat looking star.
"Hey, I got this for you. I wanted you to have it."
Cherith looked down at the bracelet, taking it from her sister's hand and staring at it.
"What's with the gift, not that I don't like it mind you… are you trying to bribe me into forgiving you?"
She gasped dramatically and Elena scoffed.
"Like you wouldn't see through that. I just, wanted to get you something. It's been a while."
Cherith nodded, feeling warmth spread across her chest.
"Gee, thanks Elena. It's pretty neat."
"Yeah. And you can add your own charms later on. I got you the star charm as the first one."
Cherith smirked.
"Totally understandable. I am a star, after all."
Elena shook her head, before turning to her sister rather seriously.
"Promise me you won't take it off."
Cherith frowned, looking at her sister weirdly.
"Why wouldn't I? I mean, it's cute and all, but I'm not about to wear it for the rest of my life."
Elena opened her mouth to protest bit Cherith beat her to it.
"Nothing you say will change my mind, Lennie."
Elena sighed, before nodding.
"Fine, but at least could you wear it for the next couple of weeks or something?... It'd… I'd be happy if you did that."
Cherith stared at her sister, now that she looked closely, she was slightly shaken up.
"What's with you and your sentimentality? Are you dying?"
She joked and Elena playfully hit her.
"But really though… you look rather shaken up."
Elena waves her concern off as she stood up.
"Nothing really, just… had a weird encounter while heading home. It's nothing. Goodnight."
She said, walking out and Cherith shrugged, standing up and sitting back down by her desk, the bracelet in her hand which she fiddled with before clasping it around her right wrist, a small smile on her face.
December 8th.
Afternoon.
Jenna gets ready to leave, dressed up in a cute '50s outfit, cleaning up the living room when Elena walks in the room and to the kitchen.
"I spoke to the insurance company, by the way. The car's totaled. You can keep using mine for now."
She said, turning to Elena who looked at her before turning back, not really sure what to say but remembering that she'd promised Cherith to try and work things out with Jenna.
"So you're uh, coming to the dance?"
She asked, looking at her aunt all dressed and dolled up.
Jenna smiled, walking over to Elena and resting against the back of a sofa, a slightly giddy look on her face which she tried to cover up.
"Yes I am. Alaric asked me to help chaperone."
Elena, not looking at her, picks up an apple and is about to take a bite, when she suddenly turns around and looks rather accusingly at Jenna, not able to keep herself from talking anymore.
"Why didn't you tell me, Jenna?"
Jenna looked slightly startled by this sudden change of topic, before sighing softly, looking morose.
"Your mom, was gonna do it eventually. I never thought I'd have to."
"If my mom were here right now and I asked, she'd tell me the truth."
Jenna looked away, not sure where to start but having to do so anyways.
"Your dad was about to leave the office one night when this girl showed up. She was sixteen, a runaway, and about to give birth."
She began and Elena was suddenly hooked on the story, walking slowly to Elena.
"He delivered her baby, and he gave her a place to stay, but a few days later, she disappeared."
Elena frowned but Jenna smiled softly.
"And there you were. Your parents were trying so hard to have a baby. I-it just wasn't happening. All Miranda ever wanted was to be a mom."
"Well, why were my parents' names on the birth certificate?"
Elena suddenly asked, still confused about that part of the story and Jenna scoffed lightly.
Your dad was a doctor, Elena. He took care of it. They didn't wanna lose you, so they kept it quiet, told as few people as possible, but if anyone ever wanted proof, they had documentation."
"What else do you know about her? The girl?"
"Just her name. Isobel."
She told her and Elena nodded slowly, trying to wrap her head around everything she'd heard.
Upstairs in the bathroom, Cherith glossed her lips slightly before looking herself in the mirror.
"Yep. I look good."
"Stop talking to yourself and let's go if you want to follow me."
Jenna said as she walked past the bathroom and Cherith rolled her eyes smiling.
It was the 50s decade dance today and she was dressed in a pink 50s poodles skirt she'd seen on sale when shopping with Leslie and a white polo shirt tucked into the skirt and black and white sneakers, a black magic belt on her waist and a pink scarf tied around her neck, her hair in a high pony with the ends curled.
Grabbing her small bag, Cherith walked out of the bathroom and jogging down the stairs where her aunt waited.
Jenna grinned once she spotted her niece, letting out a low whistle.
"Wow, look at you"
Cherith smirked, twirling around.
"I know… I look good."
Jenna smirked as the walked out.
"It's a good thing you're seemingly not interested in dating. I don't think I can chase off boys from you, especially now that you'd be heading to college in no time."
Cherith chuckled as the two head outside, walking towards the bus stop.
"So how's your boyfriend?"
"Cherith, he isn't my boyfriend."
"Okayyy… whatever you say."
She said back disbelievingly and Jenna scoffed.
"Cheeky brat."
That evening, Elena gets ready to head out as well, drying her hair while waiting for Stefan to get over.
The Gilbert compass sat on her bed, moving although she was the only one in the house.
She walked back into her room, opening her wardrobe and taking out a pink and black scarf when she heard a sound and frowned, walking to her door.
"Hey Jenna?... Cherith?... Jeremy?"
But no one answered.
She then heard the ticking of the compass and moved to grab it, her heart suddenly quickening as she realized a vampire was near.
She quickly grabbed at her phone, ringing Stefan's phone as she rushed out of her room.
"Stefan's phone, how may I help you?"
Damon picked.
"Where is he?"
She rushed out, running down the stairs in a panic.
"Oh he's on his way to you. Forgot his phone."
Elena sighed, relief flooding through her as she realized she must have been overthinking it.
"Oh… thank God. This compass was spinning. Stefan must be here."
She said, closing it up, not noticing that right above her on the ceiling, the strange vampire held onto the walls.
"Thank you."
She said to Damon.
"You're welcome."
As soon as she cut the call, he jumped down, grabbing her harshly and she screamed out. He was about to bite into her neck when Stefan zoomed in.
"ELENA!!!"
He shouted and blurred over, throwing the vampire away from her as she fell on the ground and the vampire growled, blurring away, Stefan watching him go.
Elena stood up shakily, rushing to hug Stefan tightly, shaking right to her bones as she stared at the front door with fear.
"How did he get in?"
Damon asked as he got to the Gilbert Residence that evening and Elena sighed, still shaken.
"He was invited in."
"He posed as a pizza delivery guy last night."
Stefan elaborated and Damon raised his eyebrow, slightly impressed.
"Well, he gets points for that. Did he say what he wanted though?"
Elena shook her head.
"He was more interested in trying to sink his, fangs, into my neck."
She said, rubbing at her neck, looking disturbed and Stefan turned to Damon.
"And you have no idea who he is?"
"No."
Stefan looked at his brother, unconvinced and Damon rolled his eyes, sitting down.
"Oh don't look it me like that McFussy pants. I did tell you we had company, did I not?"
"You mean there's more than one?"
Elena asked, suddenly fearing for her life and Damon shrugged.
"We don't know for sure yet."
"Damon… he was invited in."
Stefan said, looking him in the eye to portray the seriousness of the situation and Damon nods.
"Then we go get him, tonight. You up for it?"
He asks Elena and she nods.
"What do I have to do?"
"Let your boyfriend take you to the dance. We'll see who shows up"
But Stefan didn't seem to like that decision as he shook his head disagreeing.
"That's a bad idea."
Damon gives him a look.
"In case you've forgotten, baby bro, this house is no longer safe. For anyone who lives in it. And I don't know about the two of you, but the littlest Gilbert is adorable when pissed. So, it's worth a shot."
He added and Elena nods.
"I'll do it."
Stefan though, was still anxious, as if he expected that something would go wrong somewhere but Elena grabs his hand in an assuring way.
"It's okay Stefan. I'll be fine. I'll be with the two of you. I'll be safe."
Stefan nods slowly before looking up at Damon who only shrugs.
Mystic Falls High.
50s Decade Dance.
Cherith walked around, smiling as she spotted Leslie on the dance floor, dancing with a cute African American senior and she actually seemed to be having fun.
Which was a good thing as Cherith didn't think she could take another rant about Chad Davis anymore.
She spotted Caroline and Bonnie on the dance floor as well and Jenna walking on the other end, probably searching Alaric out.
Just as she moved to sit down, she saw Elena walk in with Stefan, Damon by their side and Cherith rolled her eyes at him.
The creep.
Cherith waved some girls she was acquainted with in her senior year as they passed and complimented her outfit.
After the song ended, Leslie must have spotted her as she came towards her and dragged her over to the dance floor, her dancing partner waving at Cherith and Cherith snickered as she joined them to dance to the new song playing, bringing moves she read about online to the dance floor.
Cherith finally excused herself after a while, heading to the snack table her brother was manning.
Her eyebrow raised though, when she saw him talking to a girl who handed him some white foam cups and their conversation cut short as she walked to them.
"Hey Jemmie, give me the good stuff."
She said as she reached him and Jeremy scoffed, giving her a look.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Cherry but there is no good stuff."
Cherith scoffed, crossing her arms.
"You do know who you're talking to, right? I'm a senior, and I know the seniors planned something other than this… lame ass pink drink."
She waved at the bowl of punch in his front and Anna stared at her, amused but not saying anything yet.
Jeremy though, sighed, shaking his head.
"Not gonna happen sis, I don't need Jenna coming at me for feeding you booze on a school night."
Cherith glared at him.
"Okay, first of all, it's just gonna be a cup. Second, I hope for your sake, dearest brother, that you haven't forgotten who the diabolical one in our family is."
She threatened him and Jeremy paused what he was doing, contemplating on whether or not to invoke problem on himself when he sighed, sneaking under the table when no chaperone was looking and pouring her a drink, handing it to a smirking Cherith.
"Good answer."
Just then, Anna chuckled, a grin of amusement growing on her face, the two siblings turning to her.
"Wow, Jeremy, you didn't tell me you had such a badass sister!"
Jeremy scoffed as Cherith looked at Anna curiously.
"Badass isn't the word I'd use. Rather snotty and a pain in the ass."
Cherith scoffed, turning to her offending brother, flaunting her imaginary hair over her shoulders.
"You always were the loser anyways."
Anna chuckled.
"Hi. I'm Anna, by the way. Pleasure to meet you."
She said, holding her hand out for a shake and Cherith stared at it, before sighing.
She seemed okay anyways, even if she was a stranger.
"Pleasure. I'm Cherith."
She answered back, shaking Anna's hand.
In that moment, a cold feeling seemed to emanate from Anna's hand… like emptiness and Cherith shook slightly, a frown appearing on her face as she looked from the hand back to Anna's face.
Anna though, immediately she shook Cherith's hand, felt a rather electrifying feeling go through her, making her have goosebumps all over her body.
The feeling felt familiar, like she'd felt it before and rather recently.
It made Anna even more curious about the girl before her now more than ever.
Cherith quickly removes her hand, noticing a rather huge and unattractive looking ring on her hand and gestured to it.
"Cool ring. Not my style but… everyone can't have taste like me."
She said dryly, still trying to shake off the dark feeling and Jeremy sighed, turning to a still curious Anna apologetically.
"Sorry… she has no filter."
Anna waved him off.
"No arm done."
"Well!"
Cherith sighed out, turning to her brother.
"That's that. I'll see you later. Have fun being a loser"
She turned to Anna once more, hiding her frown and giving her a two fingered salute before walking off, leaving Anna staring at her puzzled, wondering what exactly she found… odd but intriguing about the girl.
Jeremy noticed her gaze and chuckled.
"I know… my sister's a weird one. You can say it out loud."
Anna turned back to him, feigning a laugh.
"No, really… weird isn't exactly how I'd put it."
She smiled mysteriously before an important topic came to the forefront of her mind.
His ancestor's journal.
"What do you want with Elena?"
Stefan asked the vampire now known as Noah as he knelt in an empty classroom with Elena, Stefan and Damon gathered, a broken wooden mop stick in his body as he groans in pain.
"She looks like Katherine."
He grits out and the other 3 stare in shock at the mention of that name. Damon the most affected.
"You knew Katherine?"
Noah smirks at them, breathing heavily.
"Oh… you thought you were the only ones ."
"Tell me how to get in the tomb."
Damon crouched in front of him and Noah sneers at him.
"Never."
Damon looks at Stefan, who grabs the stick impaled in Noah's body and turns it, pushing it in.
"The grimoire."
"Well where is it?"
Noah struggled in pain, not wanting to answer and Stefan repeated his previous attack.
"Check the journal. The journal."
He groaned out in severe pain.
"Jonathan's journal. Jonathan Gilbert's journal."
Damon stood back up straight, crossing his arm.
"Who else is working with you?"
He threatened and Noah looked up at them, a small smirk on his face.
"You're gonna have to kill me then."
He said, and Stefan and Damon gave each other an imperceptible nod, not noticing Anna watching everything unfold.
She ran off though, when she heard a sound and Alaric walked towards their destination.
Stefan yanked out the mop stick on his chest and immediately stabbed in in his heart and he fell to the ground, greying out and unmoving.
Elena gasped, turning to Stefan.
"But… how are we gonna find the others now."
She said, looking worried and Damon turned to her, shaking his head.
"He had to die."
"But…"
"Elena... He's been invited in."
He stressed out to her and she sighed, suddenly realizing that it was true and this was the less dangerous solution.
They then heard a noise and looked up to see someone pass by the class and Stefan turned to Damon.
"Go. I'll take care of this."
Damon nodded, heading out and towards the figure seen to be Alaric.
Mystic Grill.
Later that night, Ben Mckittrick walked out the door of the Grill, locking it and heading home.
It was quiet on the street and he was being watched by Anna when she blurs over to him, intent on scaring him when he turns and shouts, holding her against a wall, both their vampiric features out.
"Don't sneak up on me."
He chided her.
"You love it."
She smirked, pushing him off of her playfully.
"Where's Noah?"
He asked, curious and she sighed, rolling her eyes at the reminder of the idiot.
"His obsession got the best of him. And so did the Salvatore brothers."
"They killed him?"
He asked, slightly surprised and she nodded.
"Tortured and staked."
"You don't seem too upset."
She scoffed.
" I warned him, Ben, and he was just gonna screw everything up anyway. Let's be honest, he wasn't exactly an asset."
She finished, shrugging before turning to him with an excited grin.
"So… How'd you do?"
"Oh the witch is totally crushing on me."
He smirked.
"What about you? Did you get the journal?"
Anna sighed, shaking her head.
"No. But I know where it is an I can get it."
She smirked and the two kiss, turning to walk off.
"Say, what do you know about Cherith Gilbert?"
She asked Ben, a curious smile on her beautiful face.
Hey guys!
So yes, we're slowly getting somewhere with her powers and graduation will be in a few months.
Don't worry, there's a lot of crazy thing 'Cherith based'.
Also, thank you jigga51. Took your advice, especially the one about removing it from the Marvel side.
And yes, the Scarlet Witch isn't born, she is forged.
Spoilers, Cherith is... basically forged in a way. There's a story behind it and we'll be getting into it.
She definitely won't be Mary Sue, cause if she is she'd suddenly become super powerful and that's just not possible especially when she doesn't even understand what she is yet and what she's capable of.
About the chapters, yes I'll slowly stop following the episodes much soon, it's just that I needed everyone to know part of the timeline as she gains her powers as well and what's going on with who and some slight changes that are happening, like Elena giving Cherith the charm bracelet. It had vervain in it and if I hadn't put the scene earlier about Stefan giving it to Elena, everyone would have probably thought it was just a gift.
She won't just fully come into her powers, but yes she'll be destructive in a way. Lol, what 15/16 year old wouldn't be with pent up frustration, anger and anxiousness!
Hope you all keep reading!
Adios!!
Much love!!
