Lucian makes some startling discoveries and has a mental breakdown, to sum it up.
Dearest Cousin
A couple of our stupid laws? Your 'mate' went against a member of our guard because he didn't want to report the current status of your coven.
Which are two pretty damn big laws, if you asked me.
Carlisle would be ashamed of you, I know Jasper is.
But you're too stuck in that pretty little self-absorbed head of yours to notice other people's feelings, aren't you?
After all these centuries, you're still no different than you were as a child.

" I'm not staying in the car." Bella retorted to Edward. Lucian had asked to come with them that morning, so he was crammed in the back of the car, listening as they talked cryptically toward one another. He wasn't sure if he regretted the decision, but he couldn't exactly back out now.
Edward and Bella got out of the car, walking hand in hand towards Jacob. Lucian followed leisurely behind, but swerved towards the entrance doors at the last second, sitting down on a nearby wall.
Pulling out his notebook, he sighed, tapping the pen irritably against it as he watched the scene unfold.
"Sorry, I don't have any leeches on my speed dial."
Lucian scribbled out his first attempt, scowling. That wasn't right. That didn't do justice to what he had seen.
"Warned? What are you talking about?"
Green eyes flashed ominously, the sound of fluttering wings filling the air.
"You didn't tell her anything at all, did you? Is that why you took her away? So she wouldn't know that —?"
The voice that came from its mouth was eerily beautiful, yet the worst thing he had ever heard. Rows of sharp teeth glinted as the maw of the enchanting humanoid figure opened-
"Do you really think hurting her is better than protecting her?"
Lucian muffled his scream into the pillow as he came to, breath ragged, eyes swivelling about the room in fear. He could still feel the vines twining around his ankles, hear that terrifyingly sweet whisper of-
'What was that?' Lucian thought to himself, staring down at his drawing. The figure was shadowed, the only recognisable features being a pair of horns- antlers, more like, a mouth full of rows of sharp teeth, and glowing green eyes.
" So it is true? Half-breed, you are indeed a brave one, coming to this land whilst still not yet fully grown. How foolish. Such a young little-" The words were indecipherable to his ears, in a foreign tongue so ancient that shivers ran down his spine, but he got an impression of what it was saying.
"Okay, get to class, Move along, Mr Crowley."
"Sprite."
" Sooo, where'd you run off to last month?" One of the guys from Lucian's class, a Kyle or something, asked him, draping an arm around his shoulders as if they were close friends. " You haven't said anything about it, kind of weird that you just disappeared like that."
" I was in Italy." He responded shortly, speeding up to try and avoid the annoyance.
" Italy... That's cool dude Er, why?" Kyle, he looked like a Kyle, didn't take the hint, matching his pace as Lucian rolled his eyes in annoyance.
" Does it matter?" Lucian snorted, shrugging the boys' arm off his shoulders and making his way to the table occupied by his cousin and the two Cullen's, sitting himself down next to Alice. " Hello, how are we all today?" He received silence. " No?" He grinned sharply. " Well, my day has been fabulous. Caius finally figured out how to text, although it takes forever for one to come in, and now he keeps on doing it every five minutes. It's sweet but annoying. I can't wait until he learns how to send pictures."
He received a glare from Edward and an indulgent smile from Alice. Bella seemed to not be paying any attention.
" And Marcus also learned how to, but he keeps on sending me pictures of books that I might-"
" Are you okay, Luce?" Came Bella's sudden question. Lucian sent her a confused look.
" What?" He asked, looking around to see if there was a problem. No. None whatsoever.
" Are you okay? I- I heard from Edward that Victoria had been in Forks. Did she come near you and Charlie?"
Oh.
Lucian felt his heart warm slightly, relief filling him. Sure, he knew in canon that she hadn't known Victoria had come to Forks, but to see that Bella actually cared for their safety? It was the best thing Lucian had found out in the past few weeks.
Well, the second-best thing.
Because finding out that Caius could paint masterpieces was a hard feat to beat. (He'd painted Lucian one hundred times more attractive than he thought he himself was, a soft green glow surrounding him. Apparently, that's what he looked like to said vampire.)
" No, she didn't. I'd warded the house the day you'd left anyway, so if she'd of come near it, she wouldn't have been able to enter." He reassured his cousin, who relaxed her tense posture slightly, offering him a timid smile.
It was progress, at least.
" Good, I'm... I'm glad."
They shared a mutual grin, and he allowed himself to hope, just for one moment, that their relationship could be a close one in the future to come.

"Thanks, Rosalie. It's nice to understand . . . to know you better."
"I apologize for being such a monster." She grinned. "I'll try to behave myself from now on."
Bella grinned back at her before the pair turned to Lucian, who had stayed respectfully quiet for the duration of the story.
" And what about you, witch-boy? Got an exciting backstory to tell us?" Rosalie looked better after having finished her story, now turning her sights on him.
" Hmm... well, if you call watching the death of your parents and ripping a newborn vampire to shreds exciting, then yeah, I do."
" How- how did you do that?" Was Bella's hesitant whisper after a few stunned seconds of silence.
" Well, it helped that I was filled to the brim with adrenaline. A newborn had broken into our house one evening and drunk my father dry before my mother could protect him. Went straight for him, he was probably injured in some way. My mother, she tried her best to defend me after that because it aimed for me next, but... she wasn't a defensive witch, and soon was caught too. She'd drained herself of magic to the point of collapse by them, standing in front of me out of sheer stubbornness. Then, I was the only one left. Little, feeble, human me." He grinned self-deprecatingly, eyes slightly glazed as they remembered what was possibly the worst night of both of his lives. "I reacted on instinct, pinned the-the thing to the wall with bits of bannister that had broken in the previous fight, held it there with all my strength. I-I don't know how, but I managed to stab it-"
" You're lying. Vampires can't be stabbed, let alone a newborn held to the wall with a measly human's strength." Rosalie interrupted, glaring at him harshly, thinking that he was making it all up to sound better.
" That's the thing, I did manage to stab it, and I did manage to hold it still! I ripped its arms off, then its head. Set it on fire... next thing I know, my house had been levelled due to a magical outburst."
" That still doesn't answer how-"
" I told you, I don't know! Maybe I reinforced it with my rising witchy powers, any guess you make is as good as mine. All I know is that I ripped that vampire to pieces with my bare hands before I had become a witch."
" You-" Rosalie started, staring at him in a new light. " You probably weren't, aren't fully human. Was your father a supernatural?"
Lucian stared at her, flabbergasted.
" Um, not that I know of, no. He didn't seem supernatural to me, I just assumed that he was an ordinary human."
" If what I've heard is true, that a male witch can only unlock their latent powers by killing someone, then there is no way that you should have been able to kill that vampire before you got your powers, not without being something else, something more supernatural."
Lucian looked down at his hands in thought, biting his lip unconsciously. His eyes widened minutely as he recalled the conversation he and Caius had days before his departure.
" Caius! It's- It's beautiful, I love it!"
" I'm glad you do, my darling."
" But, what's with the green surrounding me?"
" Hm? Oh, you didn't know?"
" Didn't know what?"
" You glow, Lucian. A bright green, like wisps surrounding you. I thought that it was a protection that you'd placed upon yourself, but it seems as though my assumptions were wrong."
" Rosalie, am I glowing green to you?" Lucian asked, motioning to himself with his hand. Rosalie eyed him strangely, before nodding.
" What?" Bella asked, eyeing him intently- as if she could spot the glow he was referring to.
" Well, yeah. It's a protection spell, isn't it? Mind, I've never been in the presence of a witch before so I wouldn't know."
" No, It's not. I haven't got a single protective spell on me. This... this green glow much be something to do with me... me being something else."
Rosalie looked wide-eyed at him, something akin to fear, fear of the unknown, dawning in her eyes.
" But what kind of Supernatural creature glows green? I admit I don't know all that many creatures yet, but I can hazard a guess that it must be something mostly unheard of." Rosalie nodded along, admitting that she neither knew of a creature that glowed green.
His mind vaguely flashed back to the vision he'd had not too long ago, eyebrows furrowing.
Green eyes flashed ominously-
Could that monster possibly be what he partially was? It was odd that he'd had such a vision only a while before discovering that he possibly wasn't entirely human.
He filed that thought to the back of his brain, not all that keen on revealing something so personal to those who he didn't fully trust.
" I'll do some research on it later, there must be something about such a creature in one of my books that I haven't had a chance to read yet."
" Wait, if your dad was a supernatural, that means that my dad is too. Which means I must be supernatural!" Bella looked giddy at her realisation, and Lucian felt almost sorry for ruining that.
But he liked to be the special one in the situation, so remorse wasn't anywhere to be seen in his tone.
He shook his head at her, causing Bella to frown. " No, that may not be the case, as our dad's had different mother's, as you know. It could have been from my paternal grandmother's side of the family."
Besides, Bella had been all human in the series, so there was no way she wasn't now.
" Does Bella glow, Rosalie?"
" No, she doesn't. If she did, one of us would have pointed it out by now."
Bella frowned, obviously upset that she didn't have another tie to the supernatural world that could solidify her stay there. "That sucks. Lucian gets all the cool stuff! Why can't I have a mystical supernatural relative?"
" Because yours decided not to fuck the supernatural. Well, grandfather did, but it seems that he regretted it after, if him having another wife is any evidence."
" It's not fair." She groaned out, eyes zapping to his form as he stood suddenly, rigid. " Lucian-"
" My parent's literally died because of the supernatural, suck it up." Lucian hissed out cooly, storming out of the room, ignoring Bella's spluttered apologies.
He rushed out into the forest, shivering slightly as the temperature dropped when his guard surrounded him, each of the deathly silent and seething silently.
He hoped they wouldn't try anything with Bella, no matter how much she had annoyed him with her selfish comments.
How dare she! Bemoaning the fact that she didn't have supernatural blood when all it had caused for Lucian's direct family was pain and suffering!
His father, who apparently now might have also been a supernatural creature, mauled to death before his very eyes by a vampire.
His mother, who drained herself to exhaustion trying to protect him with her last breaths, she too had her throat ripped out when she grew too weak to defend.
His grandmother, dying from a heart attack as her magic went haywire throughout her frail body, causing immense pain for her in her last moments.
And finally, his grandfather, his grandmother's human mate who had died agonisingly slow from a broken heart, body shutting down on itself more and more every day.
His family, each dead due to one supernatural reason or another. She should be lucky that the only connection she had with them was an obsessed 'mate', his bleeding heart of a family and a dimension-hopping cousin who was apparently in no way, shape or form a human!
Lucian didn't know whether to scream or cry as the weight of the situation came crashing down on his shoulders. He didn't want this! He had never wanted this!
He'd already lived a life before this one, so why did he of all people have to do it all again, this time with even more threats to his sanity!
It really wasn't fair.
Honestly, this story needed some more plot, so here it is! I always love to make my character's just that much more special :) I can't wait until I reach the end of canon, since that's when I can get more creative.
Already starting chapter 9, but I can't tell you when it'll be finished. I have no idea what it will be about, but I hope to include some more flashbacks with the kings :)
I actually post faster on Ao3 than here, since something always goes wrong with how it saves on this site. So, if you want to read the chapter a few days before it's posted here, go to my Ao3 account (It's the same as this one.)
