April 26th.
Alaric's Residence.
Klaus Mikaelson in Alaric's body opens the closet containing Alaric's clothes and takes out 2 shirts, a look of distaste on his face.
"Ugh! Who is this guy, Safari Sam?"
He looks between the unimpressive shirts and shook his head, turning.
"Okay, bad, or badder?"
He asked a still tied up Katherine who looked like she'd prefer being anywhere but where she was at the moment.
"The dark colors suit you better."
She mumbled and Klause smiles gracefully.
"Oh, thank you, honey. Okay, pop quiz. I need to be sure I have it all down. I've been avoiding them for over two weeks now as a ploy of 'being heartbroken' or some such utter rubbish."
He grinned amused, turning to Katherine.
"The dagger and white ash are in the Salvatores' possession, correct?"
Katherine nods dejectedly.
"The dagger was used to kill Elijah. You'll find him in the basement of the Salvatore house."
Klaus waves her answer off.
"That dagger definitely needs to stay exactly where it is. The last thing I need to do is resurrect dear Elijah. That guy is a buzzkill."
He rolled his eyes dramatically and Katherine sighed.
"Don't forget you're on the outs with your girlfriend Jenna."
"Right. Elena's aunt. For all the lies about Isobel. Then there's the youngest Gilbert. Cherith. Very peculiar girl, you called her. Stubborn, mouthy and rude. Has fire burning in her, you said?"
He looked down at Katherine who looked away with shifty eyes and nods.
"That's it."
"Hm…"
He didn't believe her one bit.
Crouching down in front of her, he places a hand on her cheek and she cringed, fear in her eyes which made him even more amused.
"Oh… so jumpy. Whatever did I do to you?"
Katherine shuddered, looking him in the eye.
"L-look… I've said all I know. Just… just kill me."
He tilted his head with a smile.
"You see, Katerina. I know you. I know you probably think that. But you know something else, and you're hiding it from me. In fact, there could be some things they are hiding from you as well. Tell me everything."
He compelled her.
"They were trying to see if Bonnie could find a way to kill an Original without a dagger."
She finally forced out and Klaus stands back up again.
"Bonnie the best friend? I thought you said she didn't have her powers anymore."
"She doesn't or didn't. I don't know. You kidnapped me, remember? I'm kinda out of the loop."
"Well, we'll have to get to the bottom of that. What else?"
Katherine tried to struggle for a moment but she lost.
"Cherith Gilbert is a witch!"
Klaus paused at that slight turn of event, turning back to Katherine, a blank face on.
"What. Did you just say?"
Katherine shivered.
"She's a witch. And a very powerful one at that. She uses magic easier and seems to bend the laws of nature that it doesn't seem to affect her. And when she uses her powers, red energy disperses around her. You should fear her."
Klaus looked like he was about to behead Katherine when he turned away, a contemplative look on his face.
Now this was something he hadn't planned for.
"A Gilbert witch, you say? Certainly interesting. And red energy. Do you have any idea why?"
Katherine shrugs helplessly.
"No. And if she does, then she's certainly kept it close to her heart and not told anyone. But I have my suspicions."
"Oh? Do tell Katerina."
"The myth. The one about the Scarlet Witch."
Klaus let's out a startled laugh.
"That old wives' tale? You actually believe that nonsense to be real? Of all the inane things to say… I'm beginning to doubt your brilliance."
"You haven't seen what she's capable of. And I did see a sort of crown grow around her head once. It was an headpiece. And her eyes were crimson. There's also been talks of the Harkness family reemerging once more."
Klaus' eyes sharpen at that though he stays quiet.
This could not be happening!
All his plans could unravel if what Katerina said was through.
If, that is.
He had to see it… or see her for himself. And if push came to shove, then he would ask Maddox for an answer.
"Hmm… it would seem I have to watch her before I make my decisions then."
Katherine swallowed, a slightly defeated look on her face.
"Please, just kill me, Klaus, and be done with it."
The original turned to her with a smile.
"And show you kindness? I've searched for you for over 500 years. Your death is going to last at least half that long."
He takes a single-blade pocketknife from his pocket, opens it, and holds it before Katherine, compelling her.
"I want you to take this knife…And stab yourself."
She slowly moved to take the knife with slow effort and slams it into her thigh and she lets out a pained gasp.
"Good girl. Now, take it out."
She rewards him with a pained look, grasping it tightly and yanking it out with a small gasp and the wound heals up.
Klaus smiles in satisfaction.
"Now while I'm gone, I want you to do that over and over and over again and if you get bored, switch legs."
"Where are you going?"
"I'm gonna go lay eyes on my precious doppelgänger. And see for myself if your rumors about a mythical being have been greatly exaggerated.
He kisses her on the forehead, basking in her shudder of fear as he walks towards the door and opens it.
"Don't look so glum, Katerina. The fun is just beginning. Again."
As he leaves, Katherine slams the knife into her thigh and she lets out a pained gasp.
Curse him!
Mystic Falls High.
Monday. 26th.
"Who put the freaking decade dance on a Monday, why was it put on a Monday, where can I bash their head in on this wonderful Monday and most importantly, why am I helping you with posters this early on a Monday?"
Cherith grunted as she marched away from her car, meeting Caroline halfway who handed her a small bundle of leaflets and huffed.
"Okay, did you sleep on the wrong side of your bed or what, Miss Grouchy Mcgrouchy pants?"
Cherith huffed, a frown on her face.
"No. I just… I have a pretty weird feeling about today. I don't like it. Not one bit. Makes me want to punch something… or someone."
Her eyes narrowed as she watched Timmy Turner walk by her with a swagger and some girls sigh.
Pitiful.
Caroline snorted, waving her hand over her face.
"Alright. Enough thinking about destruction and… Chaos. Give these to whoever you pass on the way to class, in the hallway, in the toilet even."
Cherith wrinkled her nose at that.
"Ew. Fine boss."
Caroline huffed.
"Come now! Project happiness today! This is your last decade dance in high school! Your prom is also in a few days and I saw your dress! It's amazing! You're gonna be the prom queen no doubt about that! You never did tell me why you chose a white color though."
"It's not white. It's more of a… Silvery glittering color. Also… I don't know… I just feel like… like an end is coming soon."
Cherith frowned slightly, looking down at the leaflets, a disturbed feeling in her chest.
"Feels a bit too much like my end too if I'm being honest."
And it definitely scared her way too much.
Ever since the witches had told her a single word, Darkhold… she had been feeling all sorts of nervous energies seeping into her.
It was probably that, that kept her from trying to know what it was.
That felt like cowardice, yeah, but she wanted to be selfish for herself, of only for a little while.
Maybe once her prom was over and done with she'd finally go searching for what it was.
Darkhold.
"Your end… honestly Cherith Gilbert are you trying to tell me you're thinking of your death or should I recommend you a therapist? Believe me I know a particularly good one. Let's just say after that whole thing with the asshole Damon last year, I truly needed it."
She rolled her eyes and Cherith snorted as they walked through the hallways.
"You probably needed it. He was an ass. Speaking of therapists…"
Mystic Falls High.
Jeremy walks away from Bonnie with an upset look on his face.
The fact that Bonnie might have to die in order to completely harness the powers of all the witches and kill Klaus was something he didn't like to think about.
And the fact that she still wanted to go with it, regardless of that fact upset him a lot.
He knew his sister's life was on the line too but…
He lets out a curse as he walked towards his class.
A flash of ruby red hair made him turn but he didn't spot his sister.
He wasn't even sure he wanted to tell her too.
She might not like about 99.99999% of the world population but she at least liked the company of about 5 people in this world and Bonnie was one of them.
If he went rushing to her, she might want to help out which could also inevitably lead to her own death as well.
Jeremy knew his sister.
He knew she was powerful.
Regardless of how much she tried to downplay it or not focus the attention on her magic.
Subconsciously though, her displays just showed power. Even the little things she did.
But she was inexperienced, just like Bonnie too.
He already had two headaches to deal with in that his sister was about to be sacrificed if nothing was done and his girlfriend was about to probably commit magical suicide.
At least one sister was safe and no one seemed to be after her.
That was good… for now, that is.
Salvatore Boarding House.
"So what's the big occasion?"
Cherith grunted out as she walked into the house, seeing Damon, Stefan, Bonnie, Elena and Alaric already there, looking serious.
"Gee, finally you make it Matilda."
Cherith gave him a look.
"Matilda blew up a TV. Want to get blown up too?"
Bonnie stifled a smile as Damon sighed.
Alaric, or rather yet 'Kalaric' watched the newcomer with a curious look.
She was beautiful yes, in a fiery way and aristocratic features and it wasn't difficult for someone like her to stand out in a room.
Now he was even more curious.
"Now why are we hear and discussing uh… what's his name again? Charisma?"
The Scooby gang minus Kalaric threw an exasperated look at her.
"Charisma?! Now you're joking."
Bonnie have her a look and Cherith immediately became defensive.
"Hey now! I know his name starts with a 'K' sound!"
"We should probably be glad you didn't say that to his face."
"Hmm…"
Alaric idly hummed, his eyes narrowed and Cherith ignored him.
She still felt like punching his face after all.
"Look. Parents are strange with names okay?? These are the end times!"
She rolled her eyes, asking someone to carry on the original conversation and Elena sighed, speaking up.
"Okay, so even if we run into him at the dance, what's our plan of attack?"
Bonnie stepped forward, a focused look on her face.
"Me. I'm the plan of attack. He has no idea how much power I can channel."
Cherith cut in.
"Orrr… I could just kill him."
She lit up a hand, wriggling it and Kalaric immediately focused on it, a slight widening of his eyes and it was gone.
Damon gives her a look.
"We know you're powerful Morgana… Even I can attest to that."
He winced, slightly remembering the number of times he had been her personal chew toy.
"But we want this plan to go without ANY risks."
Cherith shrugs.
"Easy."
Elena gives her a look.
"Cherry—"
"Yes, yes, 'it's too dangerous', 'you're too young', 'you are too gorgeous to die'. Don't bother."
Elena opened her mouth but Stefan beat her to it, a look in his eyes.
"He's one of the oldest Vampires in history Cherith. No one is doubting your power. But are you sure you can take him on?"
Bonnie stepped in again.
"I have the power to channel over a hundred witches."
"You still couldn't take me on though, no offense."
Cherith shrugged and Kalaric's eyebrow went up in surprise.
Bonnie have her a slightly offended look.
"I obviously wasn't using the whole thing. It was practice. I can definitely do this. The witches agreed that it needed to be done. They guaranteed it. Can you guarantee you'd be able to do the same?"
Cherith opened her mouth for a second and closes it.
Internally, she knew what she was capable of. She knew she had powers unimaginable.
But… she knew just how unstable she was.
What if she needed to unleash a lot of magic and she ended up… destroying everything??
With how unstable her magic could be, she wasn't so sure she wanted to make such a heavy mistake.
Kalaric watched closely.
Damon clapped.
"Great! It's settled then. You can't do sh—"
Cherith idly raises a lit hand and levitates Damon, throwing him around in a circle about six times and dropping him back on the floor, leaving him green for a moment as he groaned and Stefan and even Kalaric covered smiles of amusement.
He then speaks up, ignoring Damon's groans of discomfort.
"You all know this isn't going to be as easy as you're all imagining. I mean, this Klaus is the biggest, baddest vampire around."
Damon stands straight, a hand on his chest and his face in a universal 'I just tasted shit' look.
"Alaric has a point. I mean, what if he…"
He rushes at Bonnie but she throws him on the other side of the room with her powers, without even an incantation or a blink.
Even Cherith was impressed.
Where had that been when they had been practicing?
She was probably right about not needing to overdue it during that time anyways.
She claps at Bonnie who threw her a small smile and Stefan nods.
"Well, I was impressed."
"It doesn't matter if he's an Original. I can take down anyone who comes at me. I can kill him, Elena. I know I can."
Cherith nods and goes to stand next to the mocha skinned girl.
"Don't worry Bonita. I've got your back in this. Any funny business from him and I'll turn him into a frog or something."
She winks and Kalaric watches the two of the heatedly.
They would be a thorn in his plans, no doubt about that.
Everyone ignored Damon's pained groans from where he laid.
Meanwhile, Cherith checked her watch and sighed.
"Great! It seems we're done with it all. Now I've got to go. I have an appointment with a therapist."
She starts to walk towards the door, ignoring Elena and Bonnie's surprised look.
"Therapist appointment? Since when?"
Her sister asked concerned and the redhead waved her off.
"Heh… my urge to destroy things is getting out of hands. I should probably talk it out with one. Hm, seems like you were right Bon-Bon!"
She throws a grin at the other witch who gave her an unsure look.
"Um, why does it feel like setting you loose on an innocent soul?"
She mumbled and Damon huffed as he stood up.
"It's probably a good thing. All those anger issues will go somewhere else rather than Innocents like me, am I right Alaric?"
He turned but saw he was gone.
"Uh, Ric?... When did he go?"
Alaric's Residence.
"Ah, it seems like you were right, Katerina. The Bennett witch is all juiced up and aiming to kill.
"Oh, That's terrible."
Katherine said sarcastically.
Oh how she just wanted to die.
All morning she'd been stabbing a knife into her leg repeatedly and her tormenter didn't so much as look at her when he got back from wherever he had gone.
Klaus turns to Maddox who is in the kitchen, a serious look on his face.
"We're gonna have to do something about them both, Maddox. The witch is a problem on her own, but if the other one is indeed what I suspect…"
He opens a drawer, a disturbed look on his face as he searched through a drawer of clothes, rolling his eyes at the number of weapons beneath it, from crossbows to wooden bullets and automatics.
He really was the cliché vampire hunter.
Maddox walks out and hands a glass of bourbon to Klaus.
"All I could find. Guy likes his bourbon. Found an hidden stash of them."
"Huh, I knew there was something about him I liked. Anyway, back to our dilemma. There's a high school dance and I'm gonna need you to take out witch bitch. Also, what can I do about the other one?"
"The Bennett witch you say? Well, as for her, you just have to find a way to provoke her. Having that amount of power, she won't be able to channel it all. It'll kill her. As for you, I'll just have to use a spell to protect you in this weak body."
Klaus nods.
"Good. The other one though, did you see her?"
Maddox nods.
"I did spot her after the description you gave me. She's new and inexperienced, to say the least."
A smile appeared on his face.
"Who'd have thought… of all the places she'd ever be… the Scarlet Witch was always in Mystic Falls."
Klaus was not amused though.
Katherine's eyes widened.
So, she had been right after all.
"This is not a good thing, Maddox. And stop smiling Katerina."
He narrows his eyes at her and the smirk wipes off her face as she looks away.
Klaus then turns back to the warlock.
"Tell me. What can I do? I can't have her running around freely when my plans are almost all set into motion. Can I kill her?"
Maddox almost looks horrified at that.
"That, would be a death wish. The Scarlet Witch is said to be a nexus being. Killing, or trying to kill something like that is like asking for the destruction of our world. Also. You can't kill her."
He said point blank to the original who looked unimpressed.
"So what can we do? Because I can' put one witch out of commission and leave the powerful one roaming about."
Maddox nods.
"Well it's sort of an… easy, solution."
"Oh?"
"Well, we can't kill her. But, we can more or less, scramble her brain. Without her knowing, of course."
"How?"
"There's this brotherhood. I don't know if you've ever heard about them. They go by many names over different time periods. The Chthonic Brotherhood, Cult of the Darkhold… some others."
Klaus' eyes shone as he recognized one.
"Yes. Those cult assholes that dedicate their lives to a god of chaos and every full moon, sacrifice someone in reverence to him."
Maddox snorts.
"That's one way to describe them nicely. They're one the most darkly aligned witches and warlocks ever who believe the Scarlet Witch is the key to fulfilling a prophecy, granted that it's a bad idea."
A contemplative look appears on Katherine's face.
So she was indeed the Scarlet Witch.
She had been going on guess work here so as to turn Klaus' attention towards another person.
That little 16 year old was the actual Scarlet Witch. A myth her mother used to tell when she was younger. That was her.
Cherith Gilbert.
Information like this could give her an high ground… if she ever found a way to get out of here though.
"Do you mean to say we should pass the message to the Brotherhood?"
Klaus asked, a look on his face and Maddox's eyes widened as he immediately shook his head.
"That would be a death sentence for us all. We need her unable to stop the ritual, but if the brotherhood catch sight of her existence, the world would never be the same. It's why they are looked down on by the rest of us witches and warlocks. They and those despicable Harknesses."
He wrinkled his nose before turning to Klaus.
"We just have to find a way to make her mind… jumbled up, at least for the duration of the ritual and after it, you should probably get out of town since you would have ineffectively killed her sister."
Klaus smirks, remembering the redhead.
He wouldn't lie and say he wasn't curious about her.
Oh he was, and he was also very wary.
Back when he was still human, he remembered stories his mother would say about the being.
Granted he was never one to believe such nonsense, Kol on the other hand, had been very intrigued by such a story.
And here she was, existing.
"Shame."
He smirked.
"Could have used someone like her on my side."
Meanwhile…
"So Janine—"
"It's Maria."
"That's what I said."
Cherith waved her off and Maria rolled her eyes.
"Anyways, I'm telling you I don't have any case of depression. I just feel down sometimes! There's nothing off about it, everyone goes through it everyday!"
Cherith tried to convince the woman as she laid haphazardly on a double sofa while Maria, the therapist looked at her unamused.
She sighed, giving the redhead a frustrated look, having the urge to yank at her own hair.
"Do you perhaps think of death occasionally?"
Cherith shrugged, her mind going through a number of scenarios.
"Yeah."
"Have you ever purposefully given yourself an injury"
"Maybe just once, or twice. Pain makes us human you know?"
"Is your mind a dark place and have you perhaps tried to end it all?"
Cherith snorts as she sits up with a smile.
"Oh Janine, you have no idea. This mind… would definitely not recommend it to anyone else."
Maria sighed, looking down at her board and back at her patient.
"It seems like you'd downplayed it earlier before."
Cherith frowned.
"What?"
"You're not only depressive with a small case of anxiety, but you're quite possibly also suicidal."
Cherith's eyes bulged out.
"What??"
Gilbert Residence.
Few hours later.
Cherith huffed as she changed into her outfit.
She was not suicidal okay??
She was just… she just had a lot on her mind and Janine could never understand!
Her whole life was a shit show and torrent of emotions!
It wasn't her fault she was some kind of a ticking time bomb!
For the 60s decade dance, she was wearing a black, white and red thigh length kilt skirt, white fluffy turtleneck sweater and white almost knee length heeled boots with shoelace.
She didn't even know why she was going to the stupid thing.
Oh yeah, that vampire fellow would be there. Also, Caroline had threatened to stick to her for a week if she didn't make it, and Cherith hated hovering people.
With a small sigh, she yanked her small brown purse and walked out, ignoring the small noise coming from Jeremy's room. He was probably waiting for Bonnie or whatever.
Mystic Falls High.
The school was slightly filled up as Cherith packed her car at one of the empty places.
She also idly cussed and asshole who double packed.
Cherith might be unapologetic, but she knew when not to be an ass.
Music sounded through the school and out into the grounds and people dressed in 60s outfits laughed and eagerly entered the building while some loitered about.
She was one of them.
She really wasn't in the mood for parties and celebrations if she was being honest.
Now, if only she could just catch the bitch vampire and it'll be over in the blink of an eye.
Probably just set him on fire—oh yeah, he was one of the harder to kill types.
Well dang!
If only her magic was still more unstable like the time those tomb Vampires were attacking and she turned them to dust.
How had she even done that?
Did she need to go crazy again??
How to though…maybe if someone damaged Pietro—
"Urgh!"
She grunted, stumbling a bit as someone basically rammed past her shoulders rather painfully and immediately, she crouched into herself as she seemed to go cold all over and she seemed to see dark spots for a moment and she held onto her head.
"Pardon me."
A male voice cut in and she blinked away some tears to see a guy with brown hair and blue eyes backing away with a smirk and walking off.
"What the—"
She hissed slightly as she rested against a wall, trying to get herself together.
Her magic seemed to rage beneath her skin for a moment and then, it was just, gone.
She let out a small sigh, grabbing at her hair for a moment, a look of confusion on her face and staring down at her hand.
Just then, a drop of blood fell on it and she immediately pressed a hand to her nose and immediately felt wetness.
What the hell??
"Hey babe!"
She heard someone walking over to her but ignored them as she quickly put her head up with a shaky breath.
Something was wrong.
"Cherry? You okay?"
That voice.
She turned to see a concerned Leslie whose eyes widened as she saw Cherith's hand and nose.
"What the fuck?! Are you okay??"
She dug into her bag for something.
"Yeah, I guess… Some, asshole just… ran into me! Thanks."
She took the handkerchief from Leslie and pressed it to her nose, finally looking ahead.
"That looks like it hurts. Maybe you should just head to the hospital?"
Cherith snorted before a frown appeared on her face.
"Actually… no. It doesn't hurt. At."
Cherith removed the white hanky now filled with red blotches from her nose and cleaning her hand.
"I'd give you back but well…"
Leslie nodded.
"You don't give back items that have something like blood to people Cherry. Now, come on, let's get you to the bathroom. Wash your nose. You sure it doesn't hurt?"
Cherith waved her concerns off.
"Yes. Not at all."
But even still, Cherith's own concern couldn't just be swept under the rugs.
Something was wrong.
Maddox watched as the girl was led off by her friend, a satisfied look on his face.
While he hadn't wanted to hurt the Scarlet Witch at all, he was under oath to Klaus Mikaelson and he couldn't break it.
He pressed his phone to his ears.
"Yes. It's done. Now it's your turn Klaus."
He cut the call, one last look at the school and he turned away.
The Scarlet Witch in Mystic Falls.
He'd be lying if he said he wasn't fan-boying internally.
But circumstances seemed to be against him in this scenario and he was sort of against her.
Ah well… perhaps after the ritual.
Maybe he'd even throw her a bone and tell her about the assholes who have dedicated all their lives to finding her and using her to release their god.
Cherith moved to the punch bowl as Leslie went to say hi to her cheerleader friends.
Pouring herself a cup, she took a sip and grimaced in distaste.
It was okay at least.
"Aren't you a little too late to be drinking that?"
She turned to see Alaric staring down at her with an amused look and she rolled her eyes.
"What are you, my daddy?"
Alaric chuckled.
"I'm an adult though, and I could take it from your hand."
"And then you watch as your hand breaks into many pieces."
She gave him a dry smile, gulping the whole cup in front of him and pouring herself another and he scoffed.
"You could obviously do better than that piss, love."
Cherith rolled her eyes before she paused, the cup on her lips.
Love?
What the fuck?!
As she turned to him though, the music stopped and a girl walked up the stage towards the microphone.
"Thanks for being here, everybody! We have a special shout-out tonight."
Cherith turns to the stage.
"This is for Elena. From Klaus."
A song starts playing and by Cherith's side, Alaric smiles with a pleased look.
A scoff comes from his side.
"What is he, twelve?"
He blinked, turning to her.
"Excuse me?"
Cherith ignored him, focusing on her drink.
"He's obviously acting like a child. What is this, a game of hide and seek?"
She then mimicked a 5 year old evil mastermind's voice.
"Ooh, what can I, an evil mastermind do to put my enemies at less ease?? Oh! I have the best idea!"
She turns to him with a blank look.
"Ask for a dance at a teenage party. Ugh! He makes me sick. I need to meet this asshole fast."
She looks away from him, throwing her cup way carelessly and it lands on a girl's head and she threw an offended look at the uncaring Cherith.
Alaric though, looked at her with a surprised look, while fighting a pout down.
He turned away from her with a small strain of his head vein and watched as Damon walked over to him.
"Hey Ric. Cherry Berry."
Cherry ignored him.
"Special dedication, huh? This guy's a little twisted."
Alaric smiled with a nod but Damon rewards him with a blank look.
"I'm not impressed."
"Wow… we actually agree on something."
Cherith sarcastically said and Damon ignored her, looking around while Alaric stared at both with a look of disappointment.
Looking around, Cherith sighed as she took in the party.
She remembered the times she used to be overly happy to hang out with her friend and party and drink and just about have fun.
But now, everything just seemed so different.
She couldn't even stomach the thought of having fun, it was becoming increasingly alarming to her and she didn't like it one bit!
She was becoming way too jaded and she wasn't even 18 yet!
"Hey Cherith! Want to dance?"
She got startled out of her mind as she saw a blonde haired green eyed boy from her class, one of the nicer one might she add, dressed rather nicely and a smile on his face.
Ah what the heck, she was just complaining about being stuck in the real world, might as well revert back to her age for a while.
And thanks to the two cups she'd already had, it probably helped her loosen up too.
She grinned.
"Well, why not?!"
She put her hand in his as he laughed, dragging her over to his group of friends as a catchy song started to play.
Cherith spotted Leslie not too far away, and surprise, surprise, she was dancing with Chad who looked just as relaxed.
Cute.
Anyways, Cherith decided to just let loose a bit. The Boogeyman wasn't going anywhere for the time being anyways.
And just in her line of sight, was her sister too, perfectly safe, even if she was dancing with the asswipe named Damon.
It had been a little less than 30 minutes when Cherith heard someone call out her name and she turned away from her dancing partner to see Stefan with a worried look on his face.
"Hey Cherith, can I talk to you for a moment?"
"Fine."
She turned to the group, giving them a small wave and went with the younger Salvatore.
"Alright spill. Is the Boogeyman dead?"
Stefan shook his head.
"No. It's Bonnie."
"Is she dead?"
Stefan sighed, though there was a slight upturn of his lips.
"No one is dead, Cherith. But she might be tonight."
Cherith frowned.
"Wait, what?"
"The power she needs to channel all the magic of the witches and destroy Klaus… it could kill her."
Cherith's mouth dropped slightly at that.
The mocha skinned beauty had looked so confident in her shell that she could take on an original only to be planning a suicide mission.
Well guess who's the suicidal one now, Janine!
"Where is she?"
Stefan's head suddenly snapped up.
"She's outside with Elena. Listen, I have to go, I think something's going on."
And he rushed off, leaving Cherith to idly wonder if running out of town was a much more better option than staying and going crazy.
Ah well… the things you did for family.
As she walked out, she saw Bonnie talking rather heatedly with Elena who looked like she was on the verge of tears.
Cherith sighed, walking over to them.
"Ah, my sister the crybaby."
The two best friends turn to her and Elena spoke up.
"She could die, Cherith. The magic…"
Cherith nods.
"Yeah, I heard it all, loud and clear."
"Then you can see—"
"But! You all must have forgotten that I did promise to help out Bon-Bon too."
She tapped the other witch's shoulder, a wry smile on her face.
"It's okay. I'll protect my sidekick."
Bonnie threw her a look as Elena let out a shaky laugh.
"Sidekick?? Why I ought to—"
The door Cherith had just come out from slammed open.
"There you guys are!"
Alaric ran over, an urgent look on his face.
"What's wrong Ric?"
He turned to Elena.
"It's Jeremy."
"What?"
"Klaus. He has Jeremy. We have to go! Now!"
Cherith wasted no time running behind Alaric at the mention of her brother, the other two girls right behind her as they ran back into the school and through an hallway.
As they ran though, Cherith couldn't shake the awful feeling in her chest.
Where were they going?
Where was Alaric leading them and how did he know where to take them?
"Something's not right."
She heard Elena mumble and immediately came to a stop, startling the other two into doing the same and Alaric came to a stop as well.
"We're almost there you guys. Come on."
Cherith immediately huffed, folding her arms.
"Bold of you to assume we will follow you around asshole. What the hell is going on?"
Elena and Bonnie frowned, looking from the redhead to their history teacher who had a small smile growing across his face.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oh you do. There's something very different about you Alaric. Fess up."
"Have you been compelled?"
Elena asked him and he scoffed.
"Not at all love, try again."
Cherith's eyes narrowed.
"Alaric, the asshole that he is, never says 'love'. You said that earlier this evening. And you're also saying you haven't been compelled either."
He grinned.
"Such an honor being in your presence. A practical myth at that. I'd always thought you to be a child's fairytale. But then again, we have my doppelganger around after 500 years. What are the odds?"
Elena let out a small gasp from where she was.
"Klaus…"
He smiles broadly.
"Surprise!"
"How are you in…"
Bonnie glared as she stared at him.
"In this hunter's body? Easy. Possession."
Cherith huffed.
"He probably looks fugly too."
Klaus in Alaric's body sighed.
"You're a little too young to have such a runny mouth."
Cherith gave him a blank smile.
"Well why don't you go running to mummy about it?"
He let out a scoff under his breath.
"So much like Kol…"
He then looked up again, rewarding Elena with a smile.
"Don't worry. You're not on my hit list tonight."
He then turns to Cherith and Bonnie.
"You two, on the other hand… well…"
He grinned disturbing and Cherith lit up her hands while Bonnie moved into a fighting stance.
"I don't think so ass."
She let out a blast towards him and he tumbled to the ground, smoke rising from his slightly torn up shirt and his skin slightly red.
All in all, he was still able to stand even as he grunted a bit.
"Wow… I mean, I should have expected it from you."
Cherith frowned as she suddenly felt chill in her very bones and she shuddered into herself, startling the other two.
"Cherry??"
Elena held onto her sister and Klaus grinned.
"Ahh… there it is."
Cherith glared at him.
"There what is? What did you do to me—Ah!"
She fell to her knees, holding her head as blood leaked through her nose.
"I knew I would be able to take you on without any catastrophes, and so, I had a little help from someone."
The picture of a young man with brown hair and blue eyes who ran into her earlier filtered through her mind.
"What did you do to her?"
Bonnie glared, standing up straight and the air picking up around them as Elena worriedly looked at her sister who held her head as if in pain.
"Easy. She was my main trouble. Being the Scarlet Witch and all."
Elena looked up and exchanged a look with Bonnie.
"Scarlet Witch?"
Klaus was blank faced for a minute before he grinned.
"You didn't know?..."
Cherith let out a groan as she felt her brains practically turning to mush in her head, struggling to her feet with Elena's help.
"All this time, you had no idea your acclaimed sister was one of the most powerful beings in the universe. How delightful."
Cherith huffed breathily.
"What did you… Do to me?"
Now, her eyes were glowing a crimson red and her fingers spilled red mist.
She couldn't control herself.
"You should probably run for safety love. Wouldn't want to destroy the school would you, chaos?"
Cherith stumbled back, looking at the other two.
"I… I have to go."
Blood poured from her nose and Elena stepped forward to help but Cherith shook her head.
"No!"
She slammed a hand on a locker and Elena and Bonnie watched as the blue painted locker seemed to rust before their eyes.
"I can't… I have to go."
She threw one last hateful look at the original and stumbled out the school.
Elena turned to Klaus who watched, amused.
"Now… you next."
He turned to Bonnie who grunted, the air picking up even more as anger clouded her mind.
She had a bone to pick.
Cherith stumbled out of the school and into the forest behind it, stumbling through it as fast as she could as blood ran down her nose and past her lips, some dripping against her white wooly sweater.
She needed to get as far away to heal herself.
But did she still know how?
It felt like last year again and she was new to her powers. Her brain felt so messed up it was unreal.
Her leg got caught on a root and she stumbled to the ground with a gasp.
Scrambling to her knees, she held at her head again, forcing her hands to light up.
"Heal. Heal. Heal. Heal. Heal. Heal."
She kept repeating to herself as the air picked up around her and suddenly, she shrunk into herself, looking into the night sky and letting out a silent scream, and she fell to the ground, unconscious.
The End.
Pfffttttt!
Cherith opens her eyes only to find herself in a beautiful landscape.
If the garden of Eden were real, it would surely be this.
The grass was a luscious green, beautiful healthy trees scattered about and holding fruits of all kinds and flower bushes here and there.
The sky was a beautiful bright blue and birds chirped here and there.
It was peaceful.
"You really do look like me, it's insane."
Cherith jumped startled as she turned to see someone just a few feet away from her and an amused smile on her face.
The person did look almost like her, just a few years older but definitely in their twenties.
Same pale skin, petite stature, amethyst eyes, nose, strong cheekbones. Oh different was probably the shape of their eyes, Cherith was slightly taller, and Cherith had ruby red hair, unlike the woman who had blonde, almost platinum, hair.
Cherith's eyes watered as her heart beat against her chest.
"I've been waiting."
The lady said with a grin and Cherith's lips shook a bit.
"Mum?..."
Hi guys!
So, new chapter here!!
One major weakness of the Scarlet Witch in the comics is mental illness(not as bad as it sounds but she went through a lot and her mind is...) and apart from that, she's one of the most powerful beings.
I obviously didn't make her mentally ill, rather yet, Maddox did that for her. Cherith on a norms fights internally with herself so that helps with the plot point. I need her own storyline to start moving forward after all.
I also wanted to add the whole therapy bit cause Cherith obviously needs it! I just decided to make it with more humor.
Please guys!! if your mind is a dark place, seek help. If you can't talk to people, try writing in your diary, or doing things that you can find even a little relief in, if it's music, dancing until exhaustion, anything. It helps me most times.
Don't let anyone tell you how to cope. Sometimes, the way you cope is the only thing keeping you alive, so long as it's not a bad thing of course.
P.s. After the whole Ritual, we'll start moving faster cause I want to end the fic before it gets too long, lol. Also, there are some fics I'm interested in writing.
I'm rather curious how you all think she'll meet her 'anchor/pairing'. Will it be a crazy situation or what? Lol.
I have no idea why I made her prom dress a Silvery color, or why I chose that particular dress. It's beautiful but not as ambiguous as I'd have imagined Cherith to wear but as you might have noticed, her monologues have changed and she's more or less a lot jaded with life now.
Also, if you all must know, Klaus is a hot bastard yes, but since he isn't our ship, I'm putting up his relationship with Cherith as absolutely cat and mouse, tom and Jerry, more of 'you're an annoyance', and more 'I'm more badass than you', 'you old fossil', stuff. Lol.
Her similarities to Kol is probably worrying to Klaus, lmao!
Probably why he doesn't feel bad about scrambling her mind too, he after all did dagger his siblings so.
I think it's time the Scooby gang found out about Cherith too.
Kalaric. What a ship name!
Lmao! After I wrote that, a disturbing thought filtered into my mind as I imagined a love story between Alaric and Klaus.
Am I the first to imagine this or has someone thought about it before?
I can't just imagine them together, even if someone writes a great story about it.
Then again, they're multiple stories about Voldemort and Harry Potter so…
But still!
It's like writing a story about Thanos and Loki or something like that.
My inspiration for this story actually began with the end of it, if you can actually believe it!
What would happen at the end got me writing the story.
It's not really a happy ending but it's not sad too.
Most fanfic will lead you to and they lived happily ever after, I want to keep the readers imagining, lol.
Oh yes!
I've had a female Harry Potter and DC fic on my head ever since I watched the latest suicide squad! What would happen with a preteen female HP on the squad looking for a way to lessen her jail time. I have it all planned out too. I have even written the first chapter and I'm just wondering if I should post it or not.
Only problem I have is that like the MC universe, DC has a lot of different timelines too and I have no idea which one to focus on. If I focus on the movie suicide squad, them it means the joker killed robin and batman went after them for revenge but only caught Harley Quinn which is why she was sent to prison, and I'mnot sure that's the timeline I want in case I continue expanding on it. If I use the young justice timeline too then it's also way too vast for me to actively bother with if I'm to be honest.
So it's still on my mind at the moment. I'll probably just create my own crazy timeline, lol. But it depends on if anyone's interested in it or not.
P.s. If you're interested on who I based my OC appearance on, you should check out Angelina Michelle. With some mix with Elizabeth Olsen.
she has this strong bone features and pale skin like I imagined. just a more younger looking version.
Her face also has a lot of attitude with it that I imagine Cherith to always have as she's described as having a resting bitch face, lol.
All the characters for TVD are obviously older looking than their age so of course I had to make her lie that too.
