I just managed to condense a huge amount of the book into one chapter. From the wedding in BD3 to Bella's awakening in BD19-20 ^-^
Dearest Cousin
It was wonderful to see you at the ball, even if Bella and Edward didn't attend alongside you. I trust that there was no trouble when you arrived back home?
Renesmee darling, I miss you already, how you managed to light up the ballroom just by stepping into it. It is obviously the Swan genes in you, eh?
Love from your favourite cousin, Lucian
13th August
The crowd erupted into applause as the newly-wed couple shared a kiss, looking enraptured with one another, oblivious to their surroundings.
Lucian stands near the front of the crowd next to Charlie, eyes glazed, unseeing.
A giggle. "Lucian, you don't understand, I love him!" She throws her arms out dramatically, skin sparkling like diamonds in the sunlight. She was a beautiful creature, flawlessly structured right down to the very tips of her manicured fingers, almost too perfect. He felt blinded by her, the woman who now inhibited his cousin's body, filling it so right yet so, so wrong he couldn't help but stare helplessly.
"-cian?"
" Then make me! Make me understand why you're so-you're so...enamoured with him!" He shouted at the girl who wouldn't stop twirling, eyes glistening with fantasies.
"Luce?"
" Becauseee-" The word was dragged out teasingly, as if the woman knew that he was dying to know the answer.
"Hey-"
"He." Red eyes flashed dangerously.
" Are you-"
" Is."
"-okay-"
" Mine."
" Lucian?" He drew in a deep breath as he felt his lungs burn from lack of oxygen, swivelling his head quickly to look at Charlie.
" Yeah, I'm good, it's just getting to me, y'know?" He smiled at Charlie, eyes watering slightly from the pain throbbing in his head. The vision had been sudden and confusing, filled with flashes and jaggedly put together scenes.
" I know, I never thought that I'd see the day when my little girl got married. Bella just never seemed the type to want to settle down, but now..." He gestured with his hands, and Lucian nodded along.
" Now, she's found someone that she wants to become a family with."
" Yeah." He looked uncomfortable as he stared Edward down, and Lucian couldn't help but agree.
While Edward and Bella went off to the Isle of Esme to cause problems, Lucian sat at his desk and pulled forward a blank notebook.
He needed to have a plan of what he was going to do. What he wanted to keep the same, and what he wanted to change. There were too many variables to keep in his head, and he wasn't sure if he'd even remember all of them enough to write them down.
Idea 1- Prewarn the kings about Bella's impending pregnancy
Pro's-
No attempt at fighting. Probably
Con's-
Possibly no Renesmee.
Misinterpretation of it being an immortal child.
Lose the trust of the Cullen's
He stared down at the con's with a deep scowl, before crossing out the plan altogether.
Idea 2- Tell the king's about the birth of Renesmee before Irina
Pro's-
Again, no fighting.
Saves Irina's life.
Con's-
Could deem Renesmee a threat, and still come to Forks. (Might not be a bad thing)
Lose the trust of the Cullen's
Idea 3- Let it play out how it did originally
Pro's-
Knowing the outcome.
Con's-
Presence could change the outcome drastically.
Lose the trust of the King's
There was also the option of telling the King's after Irina had told them. Aro would have been able to see Renesmee through her memories, and with his word, it might make the King's back off. It wasn't as solid a plan as he'd like, but it was something at least. He noted it down.
Idea 4- Tell the King's just after Irina does
Pro's-
They will see Renesmee through memories, as well as have my word
Possibly won't lose the trust of the Cullens
Possibly will save me the trust of the Kings
Con's
Irina may die
Lose the trust of everyone.
Setting down his pen, he placed his head in his hands and sighed. There didn't seem to be a way in which he could have everything. Renesmee, the trust of everyone, saving Irina. He wanted to be able to have it all.
31st August
" I can't believe this." Lucian put on his best, shocked expression as he stared down at his cousin, whose stomach was obviously rounded even though it had only been a couple of weeks at most since conception. " You got pregnant? Before me?"
They were alone in the Cullens' living room, the vampires either having gone out to hunt, or they were giving them the slightest modicum of privacy by going elsewhere in the house. It wasn't as if they couldn't hear every slight intake of breath of theirs or anything.
" You are a man, that is an impossible-"
" Unbelievable! The nerve!" Bella sighed, looking away from his as she cradled her stomach gently, staring down at it in awe. She couldn't believe that there was actually a baby forming inside of her. A baby of Edward and her. She smiled contently, brushing over the ever-growing swell in satisfaction. If only the rest could love her son as much as she did. Even Lucian seemed to be more accepting of it, and wasn't that a surprise for her. He'd welcomed her back with open arms, not seeming to care in the slightest that her stomach was rapidly swelling with a vampire's child. Bella had a suspicion that he had seen it in one of those visions of his, although he had yet to confirm it, only giving her a secretive smirk when she'd asked.
Lucian watched her smile, his own slightly tugging at the corner of his lips. He couldn't believe that it was already nearly the end of the story. After Renesmee was born, he knew that everything would change.
Whether the changes he would make would cause good or destruction, well, he'd find out soon enough.
For now, though, he wanted to bask in the strange amicable relationship he and Bella had at the moment, drawn from them both wishing the child in her womb to grow and live. Both for similar reasons of watching their family grow.
10th September- The birth of Renesmee
He bit into his thumb anxiously as the wails rang through the house, each one more full of pain and anxiety than the last. He could do nothing about the situation, for some reason pushed out of the room that his cousin was in, even if the other vampires got to say.
It didn't make any sense, but he let it happen, grudgingly at least.
The sudden silence was deafening, and it made him wince in horror. He shakily made his way closer to the room but backed away at the last moment. He needed to wait. He wasn't needed in there. Everything had to play out how it did, otherwise, he had no idea if Bella would survive this ordeal or not.
Lucian settled himself down on the sofa once more, ducked his head in his hands, and prayed to every deity he knew that Bella would be alright. His foot began to tap on the floor, the rhythmic sound relaxing something within his slightly.
A little while later, Rosalie came into the room, a little bundle cradled gently in her arms. She was cooing down at it, and it made Lucian lunge forward with a start. Rosalie's head shot up, as if she hadn't known that he was there. He watched as her arms tightened around the bundle, ever so slightly turning her body and the baby away from him.
" Renesmee," Lucian whispered reverently, a hand reaching out. He watched the bundle with keen eyes, desperately trying to capture a glimpse of her face. His hand flinched away as Rosalie turned her back on him, heading over to the sofas instead. He observed her intently as she began to coo over his cousin, and felt jealousy rear its ugly head within him, burning him up from the inside and clouding his mind with rage. His magic thrashed in its confines.
A tree deep in the woods began to twist in on itself, splintering and cracking, its leaves turning a muddy brown colour and crumbling to the ground in piles of dust. It began to blacken, the tips of its branches first, then the trunk, all the way down into its roots and the soil they were buried within.
Lucian breathed deeply, calming himself, before turning his back to stalk out of the house. "Look after my baby cousin for me, won't you, Rosalie. It wouldn't do for her to get hurt before her mother wakes up to take over the job." With a smile and a wave, he snapped his fingers and popped away.
The smile dropped, and a section of the woods warped and twisted grotesquely.
11th September
Lucian stared down at the child in his arms with fondness, the rapidly growing baby cooing softly up at him in delight as the orbs of light danced around the room. He had somehow managed to steal away Renesmee without any of the others hovering around her for a moment and decided to spend a little time with his newest cousin.
His family was so very small, after all.
After arriving back at the house the next day, after his momentary lapse in control, he was greeted by the sight of the Cullens surrounding his newborn cousin, staring down at her in wonder. Notably, Edward was missing, although Lucian could hazard a guess as to where he was.
They had greeted him absentmindedly, staring at the baby cradled in their midst, until he had sauntered forward with his arms held out.
" And may I have a hold with the newest addition of my family? It's only fair, you know."
They had looked hesitant, looking between each other with wary expressions. Rosalie looked the most reluctant to give up the baby in her clutches, and Jacob who was nearby took a step forward, as if he was debating whether to snatch her up and run or not.
" Lucian, that may not be the wisest decision. She's half-vampire you see, and-"
" And she nibbles a bit, yes yes, I know, you act like I haven't already seen months into her life already. And by the way, she will be the sweetest little one, obviously taking after us Swan's, of course." He grinned, snapping his fingers impatiently. Renesmee was reluctantly placed in his arms, and from then on, had barely left them, even a day later.
She looked so tiny placed in his arms, but he knew that even as seconds passed, she was getting ever bigger, and soon he wouldn't be able to cradle her like this. He didn't want to let her go, or to let her grow, that ugly feeling rearing in his chest again before he squashed it harshly.
It seemed to be getting harder to control his thoughts and reactions by the day.
13th September- Bella's 19th birthday
Bella's eyes shot open, and he jumped back, heart beating harshly in his chest. " Fucking hell!" He breathed deeply, smiling deeply in the direction of a worried looking Carlisle. " No worries, I can hop out of here at any time." He didn't look mollified in the slightest but said nothing. He still backed up, close to the door, the others moving slightly to cover him. Lucian felt thankful for them as he watched Bella launch herself in the air, landing in a crouch and surveying the room like the deadliest predator.
But she was, very dangerous, even to the strongest in the room she would be a struggle to take down. But, Lucian had trust, trust that it would go as it had in the books, even with his added beating heart and tantalizing scent.
He tilted his head to the side as he watched her stare at Edward, enthralled by him. On second thought, Lucian felt as though it would be best for him to leave. With a glance at Carlisle, he teleported away in the blink of an eye, reappearing at the edge of his range for safety measures.
Lucian could almost feel the panic his guard must be feeling at his sudden departure, but no more than a minute later, and they were near him again, hovering in the trees and surveying the area for any threats.
" My prince, a forewarning would be nice." Mykola's soothing baritone held a faint trace of disapproval in its tone, so very like a scolding fathers, which made Lucian look up to him with a grin.
" I didn't want to attract any attention to myself with her in the state she was in. It would have been unnecessary, and dangerous." He explained, getting an understanding nod in return.
" My apologies for not thinking that you had done so without reason, my prince. I should not have assumed."
"S'alright." He waved his hand flippantly. "Besides, I have something that needs my attention anyway."
" And what is that, master?"
He smirked up at him mischievously. " I think... that I have made my mind up of what to do. Who wants to listen in while I try and explain the current situation to my darling mates? Or better yet, let's book a flight now, I can tell them when we are nearing the city, then they can read my mind and come to their own conclusions with the evidence." He cackled at their expressions, beginning the walk back to his house. " Oh, I am going to adore seeing their faces! And the rest of the guard! God, Felix is going to flip his lid, he's always going on about how he'd loved to of had a daughter of his own, he's going to be so jealous!"
His loyal guard followed him, matching expressions of glee and horror marring their picturesque faces.
Who's ready to see Lucians past and actual personality?! He's growing more unstable as the days pass, so it won't be long now. He literally just threw his plans out of the window and went 'I don't care for the consequences, I'm doing this.'
If it seems a little weirdly laid out and all that, it's because I wrote this in the midst of daydreaming about Lucian in the future, so I wasn't the most focused.
Please point out any mistakes, anything you want me to add or clarify, and your ideas! The more ideas I have, the quicker I'll probably update. Chapter 12 will probably be out soon since today was when I was supposed to post it. Chapter 13 might be on schedule (Posted on the 15th) by that's a strong maybe.
