New Chapter.
April 30th.
Gilbert Residence.
Cherith grunted a bit from where she sat in front of her vanity that early afternoon as she finally got her shiny curls into a suitable hairstyle.
On a normal day, it wouldn't have been much trouble for her to do so, nor would she be in such a mood, but as John had been buried just the day before, her mood was still tainted with that of sorrow and sadness.
It didn't help that she was SUPPOSED to be happy. At least for today, her prom.
Her gown was a glittering silver.
Strapless with double ruffles at the chest, but the ruffles faced upwards in an appealing manner.
It was long sleeved ending in a finger loop.
Tight from under the bust to her waistline and then falling to the floor in a fitted but sort of loose way, a long slit going from her upper thigh to the end on her left leg, completing the look with a pair of silver dainty wrap heels.
She decided on no necklaces, but went for long dangly silver earrings and a beautiful silver forehead piece that glittered in the right light.
All in all, she looked like an actual queen to behold.
For her make up, she'd gone with the glittering type as well as shiny rhinestones around her eyes.
To be honest, she wasn't too sure about the prom but… better to get your mind off the things plaguing you, at least for a while.
At the moment, Vampire 2.0 and his brother were MIA.
Everything seemed to be quiet… like everyone was trying to move on.
Elena, with her propensity for trying to act all mature and pretend everything was better so as not to worry people, was doing so again.
Presently, she was trying to convince Jeremy to follow her to the screening of 'Gone With The Wind' at the Town Square the following day along with Caroline.
Cherith could understand why. Jeremy wasn't too good with dealing with grief. Well, Elena too… so she was trying to bottle it all up by pretending everything was alright with her.
As for Cherith, well… let's just say she was coping better than expected.
Oh it hurt that John died, but… death really wasn't the end though, was it?
She sighed, fiddling with her silver pouch, thinking about her own issues.
The Scarlet Witch.
That title was a damn burden, no lie about it.
She'd also been playing on the thought of telling her siblings the truth. Not the whole truth though, just about being the Scarlet Witch and what it meant.
Things were changing.
After graduation she was moving across the pond. Also, before that asshole scrambled with her mind, he had called her the Scarlet Witch.
It was better she told them before some stranger did, trying to sow discord between the three siblings.
Today was not the time though… maybe after things calmed down a bit… or she could just think more on it the next day… after she slept in of course.
Perks of having prom to go for.
"Cherry? You done?"
Jenna knocked on her door before opening it and walking in.
"Your ride will be here so—oh my God…"
Her jaw dropped and Cherith grinned as she got to her feet, doing a small twirl even with her dress dragging a bit on the ground.
"Oh… Cherry, you…"
Cherith gave a small smirk.
"I take it I look absolutely fabulous?"
She joked but Jenna teared up a bit.
"You look… absolutely amazing… like the night sky in human form…"
Cherith's smile softened a bit.
"Come now Jenna… this isn't my wedding…"
But she moved to hug her aunt.
"Enjoy the white dress while it lasts though… I don't know about weddings and icky stuff like that."
Jenna stepped back, blinking tears away as a small scoff escaped her lips.
"Oh, that's what they always say. But leave the whole spinster thing to me. I'm the cool aunt after all. Now come on… let's get you down and off."
Cherith nods, grabbing her pouch and holding hands with Jenna as they walk out the door.
"Where're Jeremy and Elena?"
Jenna smiled.
"Just down."
As they walked towards the stairs though, Cherith stops in slight surprise, seeing the grinning faces and faces of awe waiting down and staring up at her.
Elena, Jeremy, Caroline and Bonnie.
"Oh wow… you look amazing Cherry!"
Bonnie gushed as the grill walked down the stairs and Caroline squealed.
"You are definitely winning Prom Queen! Trust me on that… if you don't… I'll deal with the winner."
Caroline promised as Cherith got down, hugging her and the red head snorts.
"Of course you will."
She exchanges high fives with the mocha skinned beauty before turning to Jeremy who had a camera around his neck.
"Who'd have thought you cleaned up well Gilbert."
He mocked playfully and Cherith rolled her eyes grinning.
"Please. Everyone knows I'm the fashionista of this group."
Jenna and Caroline huffed and then Elena grinned at her sister.
"You look beautiful, Cherry."
Cherith smirked.
"Thanks sis."
"Let's take some pictures! This is too good to pass off!"
Jenna motioned to Jeremy and as Cherith posed by the door, she felt warm deep down, at her friends and family around her.
It might be something simple, but with all the craziness that had been happening, well, this seemed normal for them all.
She took a couple of pictures, solo, with her siblings, with Jenna, and then Bonnie and Caroline.
And then a loud honk sounded from outside.
Jenna opened the door and peeped through.
"Looks like your ride is here."
Caroline gave her a grim look.
"Now, you better bring home the crown lest I be mad."
Cherith rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, yeah. I'll see you guys later. Don't stay up too late kids."
Cherith ignored the mumbles coming from then and instead focused on their 'byes', 'enjoy yourselves' or the 'don't become a raging drunk' from Jeremy, which she of course ignored.
Walking out, she saw the white limo waiting for her with the driver already by the door, and as he opened it, she saw Leslie waving madly at her from the inside, a big grin on her face.
Oh yeah.
She and Leslie, as well as Chad who was Leslie's date had decided to rent a limo together for the prom night.
"Hey Les."
Leslie beamed as the redhead climbed in.
"Cherry! Wow, you look amazing!!"
Cherry grinned, the two hugging each other and the 18 year old whispering.
"I'm sorry about your uncle."
Cherith smiled, though it was a bit strained.
"It's fine. I just want to have fun and get this night over with anyways. Hey Chad."
Chad smiled from his seat where he was pouring them a glass of golden colored sparkly champagne.
"Hey Cherith. Good to see you here. You just might win Prom Queen I have to say."
Leslie nods.
"I know right?!"
Chad was dressed in a black smooth 3 piece suit, his brown slightly long hair well styled, and Leslie wore and cream colored silk halter necked dress that was fitted before moving to a mermaid flare from her thighs to the ground.
"So are we to be expecting anything crazy at the dance?"
Cherith idly asked Leslie as she graciously accepted a glass from Chad and took a sip.
Leslie shrugged.
"I dunno. Why ask me?"
Cherith rewarded her with a wry look.
"Hm. Maybe because you're part of the committee? Gee, I wonder why I even asked."
She chuckled as Leslie playfully hit her shoulder and Chad then spoke up.
"I mean, it is our Prom. Anything can go right or wrong."
Mystic Falls High.
Prom Dance.
And that was sort of true.
It hadn't even been up to thirty minutes when they arrived that she witnessed a fight between two girls fighting over a guy ho had 'promised' to take each, only for him to arrive with another date entirely.
"You bastard!!"
One shrieked, only to be held back by her friends but the other girl wasn't inclined to let it go, especially with the boy and his date giving them smug looks, and as a server passed her with glasses of a red drink, she grabbed two, splashing it on them and eliciting gasps from those gathered around.
The boy's date let out a shriek as her pink gown ended up getting stained on the chest area and her face now wet with some parts of her hair.
"Next time, better be wary of who you're trying to play. Stupid idiot."
The girl who had splashed them sneered and walked away, Cherith doing the same too.
She honestly didn't want to be here anymore. She'd rather prefer to lay on her bed sulking or reading novels like she used to before vampires came into her life as well as threats of evil cultists.
All around, everyone seemed to be having fun, moving to the beat of the songs, laughing with friends or taking prom photos at the booth, which Leslie had already forced her into the moment they stepped foot in the building.
She walked towards the food table, giving fake smiles to those who greeted her or complimented her outfit.
There was no denying she was a vision in silver, and on a normal day she'd have been moving her smug ass all around so people bowed before her holiness, but… meh!
She wasn't in the mood.
She grabbed a strawberry, dipping it into the chocolate fountain and taking a big bite.
They hadn't spared on everything.
The food was great, decorations were better than expected, the DJ was doing great and she heard there would be a rather talented local band playing later on.
With a small sigh, she took a sip of her drink, trying to eat and drink away her slightly morose feelings away.
If she'd known, perhaps she'd have demanded someone take her just so she wouldn't feel as lonely as she currently was… which was stupid, seeing as she was sort of an introverted being who preferred to keep to herself rather than waste time on social niceties.
Suddenly, the music stopped, and one of the female prom committee members walked on stage with a small card in her hand, dressed in a Cinderella style strapless pink gown.
"Alright! Good evening seniors!"
She screamed into the mic and students cheered happily, making the girl smile smugly.
"As you all know, my name is Blair Fell and it's a little late but like, welcome to senior prom!"
Cherith wrinkled her nose at the girl. So like her sister, Tara.
But where Tara was 100% bimbo with no brain, Blair was more half and half whose main goal in life was to become a reality TV star, her role models being the Kardashian sisters.
Honestly, their cousin Tina was probably the normal one amongst them… then again… she also had her own issues too.
"Before we begin voting for out Prom Queen and King, we just wanted to remember someone who should be with us today."
Her mood became morose.
"Timmy Turner was a great football player and a charismatic guy like, you know?"
Cherith raised an eyebrow.
"So, in the spirit of remembrance, it is only natural for us to hold a one minute silence for poor Timmy."
People nodded or mumbled in agreement as all noise died down for said minute.
She did hear the occasional mutters here and there and she rolled her eyes.
Asking a bunch of teenagers to quiet it up for a minute… that was like taking away their 'freedom of speech'.
"Okay then! Now that that's over, and may Timmy rest in perfect peace… voting for the prom queen and begins from now till 9! So whenever you're free, don't forget to head over to the booth and do your thing! The Prom court members will be given their sashes so you know who you're voting for. Have a wonderful evening!"
She beamed, walking off as the music starts over again.
"Hey Cherith."
The redhead turned to a fellow classmate who was on the prom committee with Leslie.
Her name was Vera and she was a friendly one on the school's swim team.
"Hey Vera."
"So here's you sash."
She grinned and without further ado, placed the sash around a slightly startled Cherith.
"Uhh…"
Cherith looked down at it. It was a silvery white color with black on all edges and the words 'Prom Court' written on it in style.
"Thanks?"
Vera beamed.
"You're welcome! See you later and good luck!"
She bounced off and Cherith sighed, ignoring the people giving her looks of appreciation here and there.
She almost wanted to do something crazy but decided against it.
She brought her drink to her lips only to pause as she saw it was empty.
She sighed.
"Ahh… I need a drink."
She walked off.
"So, she says 'how dare you, my ass is perfectly natural!' and I say 'Oh you're not fooling anyone with that ass. It looks like 5 different lumps of tofu wedged on opposite sides of your asscrack!'"
The people around her burst out into laughter.
"Oh my God! You're so freaking funny! But serves Tina Fell right!"
One girl said and Cherith smiled smugly, a slightly buzzed feeling under her skin.
Okay, she might have drank quite a lot so as to feel the buzz, mainly because it seemed like alcohol was slowly loosing it's intensity on her.
Ah well, the more the merrier then!
Music played in the background and she slowly moved to it, feeling a bit better though she put it to the tingly feeling.
She wasn't drunk, thankfully… just more tipsy which was making her sort of a conversationalist.
It had been a little past an hour since she'd been entertaining herself with the occasional drinks of so and she decided it wasn't too bad.
"Be right back. I have to go pee."
She told the group surrounding her and they nodded as they continued to joke amongst themselves.
She walked out the double doors, past a couple of fellow seniors and even a teacher before quietly entering the girls bathroom and standing in front of a mirror.
Okay, she still looked shiny and eye-catching which was good.
Lord knows what would have happened if half her make up was gone.
Mind you, she'd already taken quite a lot of pictures anyways, so she didn't really care.
"uhn… fuck! Ah!"
Cherith blinked startled as she heard moans and grunts coming from the stall furthest from her.
"Oh fuck, Tara!"
Cherith snorts quietly.
Of course it's the bimbo Tara.
Cherith idly played with the idea of waiting for them to finish their little… shindig, and smirk as they walked out, trying to act all inconspicuous, but decided against it.
After all, it wasn't like Tara's dealings weren't already well known.
Rolling her eyes, Cherith entered a stall, eyes glittering in amusement as the stall door made a noise and the moans and grunts paused.
An involuntary snicker escaped her lips.
"Oh, don't stop on my accord… by all means… carry on."
Cherith laughed silently as she walked back out, washing her hands.
She heard the boy let out a small curse and she walked out after drying her hands.
Oh… it was wonderful making things awkward.
Now… should she or should she not cause some anonymous mild panic at her prom…
Choices… choices…
"And now, the moment we've all been waiting for… the crowning of our Prom Queen and King!"
The host shouts out and excited chatter fills the room in bounds as the music dies down a bit.
Cherith rolls her eyes, secretly hoping it gets done fast so she could find a way to sneak out and leave.
Leslie and Chad had been sort of MIA from her sight for a while now. Probably having too much fun, which was good in her opinion as she could get the limo driver to take her home before Leslie noticed.
"For our Prom King! We have…"
He drew it out for a few seconds before looking down at the paper with a grin.
"Jason Lockwood-Hamilton!"
The hall busted into cheers and claps as the black haired guy who looked a bit like Tyler himself walked up the stage.
Tyler's cousin. He also had a brother named Jeffrey who was a junior and had been Caroline's Miss Mystic Falls' date.
Member of the school's football team, generally liked and actually wasn't a asshole like his cousin.
Cherith clapped politely while trying not to look bored. And by clapped politely, she clapped twice and dropped her hands, eagerly waiting for the Prom Queen to be announced so she could sneak off while they were dancing or whatever.
Jason was soon crowned, his Prom court sash removed and replaced with that of the Prom King.
"Alright then! As for our Prom Queen! We have…"
Cherith stretched, preparing to leave.
"Cherith Gilbert!"
Cherith's eyes bulged out in slight surprise as the hall erupted into loud applause as the stage light focused on her and she looked like a deer caught in headlights for a second.
Ah fuck!
She wanted to go home!!
"Come on up Cherith, and receive your crown!"
The host grinned, beckoning her over and Cherith gritted her teeth so as not to appear angry.
Faking a smile, she walked towards the stage, ignoring the loud sob of one Blair Fell or the glare of another senior she didn't really care about.
As she walked up the stage, a girl helped her remove her sash, replacing it with the Prom Queen sash and placing a nicely done crown on her head.
Huh… she thought it'd me made of paper or plastic or something… it actually wasn't that bad.
"Great! Awesome! Two good-looking people! It's time for them to dance!"
Cherith stifled a grin and Jason turned to her with an easy going grin. He was actually one of the very good looking guys in town, which wasn't surprising seeing as he had Lockwood blood.
"Don't worry. I don't bite."
"Hm…"
She placed her hand in his as he led her back down and the crowd moved away as they slow danced.
It was a bit awkward, the whole school watching you, even as the members of the prom court, and then the senior committee joined.
Thankfully Jason wasn't difficult to talk too, he was laid back and respectful.
Whoever his girlfriend or future wife is, she hit the jackpot.
Then again… he carried the untriggered werewolf bloodline so…
Meh!
No one was perfect anyways!
As the rest of the crowd joined in, Cherith excused herself from him, quickly moving from the dance floor, feigning a slight headache for whoever tried to ask her for a dance and giving fake smiles to those who congratulated her.
From afar, Leslie threw her a huge wave and a happy grin while Chad gave her two thumbs up and she smiled back at them, before sneakily leaving the hall.
May 1st.
Cherith groans and she rolls around in bed that morning before slowly sitting up.
Finally.
Prom was over and done with.
And graduation was probably going to be the end of the month.
Also not forgetting their seniors trip in two weeks.
At least she'd have a week to herself far from the madness that was Mystic Falls.
Also, not to forget she had to do a little shopping as she was probably leaving for the UK in a month or so.
And making plans for a one way ticket as well… she'd have to tell Jenna to help her with that.
And also getting her car shipped a week or so before she leaves too.
Heck, she had no idea how her family's manor was at the moment!
She'd probably have to get home makeovers, no matter if she stays there for a month. It was her family home, she couldn't let it fall into disarray anyways.
Standing up, she left her room, heading down the stairs, into the living room.
As she passed, she saw a slightly ruffled blanket on the 3 seat sofa and a fluffy pillow.
With a frown, she walked into the kitchen, spotting Jenna already there, dressed for the day but typing away on her laptop with a mug of half drank coffee in it.
"Hey Jenna!"
Jenna looked up with a smile.
"Hey you! I mean… Prom Queen."
She winked and Cherith shook her head as she sat on one of the island stools next to her aunt.
"How did you even find out?"
"Well… I woke up pretty early and checked your room to be sure you were back. Spotted the crown and sash. Also, I've gotten quite a lot of congratulatory messages from some people, which is just weird but… eh! Let's just say your name is on the lips of many Mystic Falls people."
Cherith groaned slightly, moving towards the coffee machine with a mug and pouring herself some.
"Whatever. Not like I can use it to take control of the world or something."
Jenna sighed.
"Please tell me you have no mastermind agenda, what with your magic and all."
Cherith smirked, putting on an innocent face.
"Why aunty, do you think I'd ever?"
"Yes."
Jenna deadpanned and Cherith huffed, taking a sip.
"Anyways, did you sleep on the couch or something?"
Jenna shook her head.
"No. That was just Alaric."
Cherith blinked.
"Alaric? Why?"
"Well, I decided to let him stay, what with his home being hijacked by some Vampire-werewolf hybrid."
Cherith smiled slyly.
"Well that's awfully nice of you… or perhaps you're getting sweet on him again?"
Jenna frowned, shaking her head firmly.
"Definitely not. That's a closed road, thank you very much…"
Jenna sighed, looking away from her screen.
"With everything that's happened… I can't bring myself to stay with him. But he's still a friend though, no matter what happened between us both. And… he's Elena's sort of, stepfather…"
She made a face before looking at Cherith.
"In a way, he's sort of family to her. And Jeremy really likes and respects him. He's become a sort of father figure to him. At this time… with everything that's happened… he's sort of managed to stay alive and keep me alive unknowingly too. It'll kind of be harsh to turn my back on him, you know?"
Cherith thought on what her aunt had said.
Well, she wasn't wrong anyways.
Which brought her to the thought of telling Elena, Jeremy and Jenna about her Scarlet Witch title and most of the things it entailed.
She looked back at Jenna.
"Hey Jens, will you be free today?"
Jenna looked at her wristwatch.
"No, not really. I need to head back to college cause I'm pretty sure my supervisor wants to wring me by the neck. But I'm just a call away so no worries. And Ric will be here too. He's a vampire hunter… better protection than I am capable."
She wryly added to herself as Cherith decided she'd tell her some other time.
As for her siblings though… well, she needed to tell them pronto. Their ability to stumble into situations was just alarming. It would be better if she was the one telling them the truth rather than hearing it from another mouth.
And Cherith had a sort of long day ahead of her anyways.
She needed to know more about those black cloaked people and whatever 'Darkhold' meant.
Filling her mug with more coffee, she lit her hand, twisting it and levitating the half filled cookie jar towards herself, walking out while Jenna shook her head amused.
"Am I surprised you're using your… powers, for mundane things?... No. Not at all."
Cherith grinned as she walked off.
At least Jenna was getting comfortable around her and her magic.
As for vampires and the lot though, well… they can go suck it.
Speaking of… Jenna did mention her dream of wanting to live in Hawaii though…
Hmm… choices, choices…
Cherith looked through the giant tome as she munched on a cookie, going through the chapters and stopping at one.
'Cult of The Darkhold'.
Ah yes, the people in cloaks as Jeremy had put it.
She turned to the number.
The Cult of The Darkhold are a sinister group of witches and wizards who have bound their very life force into chaos and their god, Chthon.
The Cult's main goal is to ensure Chthon gains a foothold on this world once more.
The Cult has been in existence for thousands of years and will continue to be in existence for thousands more till they find a way to achieve their goal.
They are the protectors of Chthon's most important book, the Darkhold (See next Chapter), which holds the spell to access the chaos god's dimension.
But in order for them to achieve this, the Chaosborn is needed.
The Scarlet Witch has been said to be a fabled lie spoken by drunks and the mad, but the brotherhood believe she exists, expected to rule by the Chaos god's side, or submit to the rule.
The Scarlet Witch is the key to the ritual but no one knows how, only the Cult does.
The Cult continues to search for the being, never stopping, never giving up, for it is their very life goal.
No one knows who the members are specifically as they work in the shadows, but speculations have been made for centuries.
Some have been said to run into the Cult a couple of times and leave with their lives miraculously.
And a sentence has been said to involve them on all accounts. A sentence, that once said out, seems to cause a shift in the air and magic of the individual. Some say this is an answer to knowing what the Cult is all about, the answer to whether the Cult's beliefs were true or not, but no one knows if it is true.
'Videam chaos in veritate!'
Cherith paused as she read the chapter with a frown.
The Scarlet Witch was needed in a ritual?? That was why they wanted her??
Oh fuck!!
Of course she was a huge deal.
And eww… rule by his side?... Like a… a child bride??
Ew no!
She had nothing against older guys no… but… one who needed her in a ritual and was probably a bad guy?
Yeah no. She hated bad guys.
End of story.
Cherith idly remembered the story she heard back in Amherst. The story of Chthon… of how he'd lived all those years ago… of how he and some of his brothers had consumed each other to be powerful, right until Gaia's son whipped their butt.
What was his name again?
Um… it sounded like Autumn or something…
Atum?...
Probably.
If that story was real… how the hell was she supposed to stop something like that?!? She wasn't a god!! No matter how many people told her that!
In fact… this Chthon person was the real chaos god!! The original chaos himself! While Cherith she just… she's just borrowing or tapping out of his control…
"Wow… how nice."
She faked a smile before turning the next page to the new Chapter.
Darkhold.
The Darkhold is a tome reportedly written by the elder god Chthon billions of years ago, containing all of his magical knowledge which serves as one of his touchstones in our world, before he fled the Earthly plane.
It is said to not be written in human language. But Chthon imbued the parchments with sentient energy so any being capable of using magic would be able to see the book in a language they can comprehend.
It has been said that any mortal who reads the book is corrupted by the darkness that is Chthon's magic, but at the same time, some can resist being corrupted or mentally dominated by the book if their will and magical strength is strong.
The book has been said to be keep getting lost and found for thousands of years though some believe it is in the possession of the Cult of The Darkhold, though no proof has been found.
The book contains millions and billions of spells of all kinds and that is why it has been coveted by all, especially recently, for over a thousand years by vampire hunters, as the book has been said to have spells capable of destroying all vampires and probably werewolves as well. It Is even said to contain a spell that can help a werewolf retain it's human consciousness during transformation.
Cherith's jaw dropped at the last paragraph.
A spell to destroy vampires and even werewolves???
Oh how people would love to get their hands on it!
But…
Cherith frowned.
If vampire 2.0 and his hybrid brother were the first vampires… how did Chthon know to create a spell to destroy them over billions of years ago??
It was a little confusing, but then again, there could be answers too.
Maybe there are or used to be beings out there that we're vampires and got exterminated billions or millions of years ago, before the creation of this new ones.
Maybe the type of vampires she knew were just new kinds… it was possible… human evolution occasionally happened when something huge threw us off the path we used to take.
It's possible… heck, old empires told us stories of old kinds of technologies or even how they used to be more advanced than the world currently was.
It was possible that a lot of things… creatures… beings… everything, used to be real, at least until something happened.
As for werewolves, well… it seems they've always been in existence for thousands and thousands of years.
A lot of things she didn't know and yet… this cult seemed to hold answers to questions even she had.
To search them out would be like a death wish, something she wasn't really interested in at the moment.
She went back to the previous chapter, reading the words again.
'Videam chaos in veritate!'
Those words… she felt she could get some sort of answers from it, especially since it was said to be answer to whether what the Cult believed in was true or not.
And Cherith really wanted to know.
To know whether she truly had something to fear for or not.
Glancing at her phone, she saw it was still morning, and so she put her plan into motion.
Somewhere quiet she could cast.
Woods…
Cherith flies through the woods, tome in her hand, idly wondering if perhaps she should have told someone where she was headed.
…
…
...
Nah!
As she passed through a slightly still alive part of the woods, she spotted two male figures and stopped in the air.
One with blonde hair and a rather annoying smirk and the other, a familiar person.
The two looked up in that moment and the blonde smirked at her.
"Well! If it isn't the Scarlet Witch. I thought you'd be more injured."
Cherith's eyes narrowed as she realized just who he was.
Damn!
It's not fair that he was good-looking!!!
And an accent too like vampire 2.0!
Wait, did she have a thing for accents?
Too bad this one was a psychopath. She hated psychopaths.
Cherith floated down, a fake smile on her face, looking at the man who had tried to kill Elena and had caused the death of John.
"Ah, and you must be the Krampus' bastard child fellow I've been hearing all about."
A look of amusement appeared in Elijah's eyes before he gave her a nod.
"Hello Miss Gilbert."
She gave him an unamused look.
"Please dude. You are so not in my good graces right now."
Elijah nodded understandingly and she turned back to Klaus.
"So you're the one that went after my sister?"
She glared at him and he smiled.
"Oh? You're not even concerned about your paramour that I killed?"
Cherith rolled her eyes.
"Oh, you mean Timmy Turner?... Ahh… you thought you did something there hm?"
Klaus frowned confused.
"He's my classmate, nothing else, you stupid banshee. What the fuck are you still doing in town anyways?? Haven't you done enough already??"
Klaus glared at her before tilting his head a bit.
"You're a peculiar little thing, Scarlet Witch. From what I've heard, you're more the punch first ask questions later type. I'd have thought you'd try to exact revenge on me for your sister's death."
His eyes narrowed a bit and Cherith huffed.
"I would, but I have more important issues to deal with than you at the moment."
Klaus smiles.
"Oh yes. The Brotherhood."
Cherith's eyes immediately narrowed and the hairs on her neck raised.
"How do you know about them?"
"Brother—"
Elijah tried to cut in but Klaus raised a hand.
"No, Elijah. Let me. I might not know a lot about them, seeing as they don't like my kind, but I do know they are dangerous. Especially to you, if they find out you exist."
Cherith rolls her eyes with a sigh, moving to walk past them.
"You have no information for me, ergo you're useless."
Klaus' eyes narrowed in anger as he turned to stare at her, fists tightened.
"Excuse me?"
Cherith turns back, a glare on her face too.
"What, are you deaf? Must be getting on in years now."
Klaus gritted his teeth.
"I should kill you where you stand, you sweet summer child."
"Not if I kill you first!"
She threw back at him and when it looked like Klaus was actually contemplating killing her, Elijah stepped in.
"Children, children… now is not the time."
He spoke in a slightly humorous tone and Klaus turns to his brother with a glare but ended up ignored as Elijah focused on the redhead.
"Miss Gilbert, if I do find out anything about the brotherhood, you have my word that I would get in touch. Call it a favor for going back on my words concerning my brother, and also for causing Elena's… death."
Cherith gave him a small glance before looking back at the petulant Klaus and she shrugged.
"Whatever… and as for you…"
She looked at Klaus with a smirk.
"I hope we never meet again, dickwad."
She turns to walk away as Klaus glared.
"You are but a brat. And you deserve to—"
But she had walked off, and Klaus subconsciously stomps his feet on the ground like a 3 year old as Elijah stares amusedly at his brother.
"Just like Kol! It's no wonder I ache to stab her when I've only just spoken with her for the first time in my body!"
He ranted and Elijah nodded.
"Indeed."
Elijah did wonder what would happen if the two met though, and a concerned look appeared on his face.
It could go two ways. Their similar sense of humor making them fast friends, or her hatred for his family and Kol's psychopathic and sociopathic tendencies as well as love for killing anything that so much as blinked his way, also not forgetting his hatred for anything related to a doppelganger, which could lead to them butting heads and causing the total annihilation of a lot of living things, himself probably included.
That is if she doesn't kill him first though… she was the Scarlet Witch.
"Oh dear…"
He said to himself.
Cherith sighed as she sat down disgruntled.
That handsome accented bastard was the guy who sacrificed Elena on the alter??
Geez!!!
Why was it always the beautiful ones?!
She huffed as she angrily opened the tome.
"It's probably the universe saying I should be on my own. Not that I even mind, I'm gorgeous enough by myself. No one deserves this sexy ass."
She finally got to the chapter and read through with her fingers as she finally got to the line she needed.
'Videam chaos in veritate!'
The sun shone brightly as noon passed and Cherith crossed her legs, taking a deep breath in and out and focusing on herself.
And then, she spoke.
"Videam chaos in veritate!"
She spoke strongly into the winds, and at first, nothing seemed to happen.
It was quiet… he frowned, though her eyes were still closed, and as she opened her mouth to repeat the words, she heard a whisper of sorts.
It was like a whisper in the winds, as the breeze blew, the sun suddenly going darker, like an eclipse was picking up as well as the breeze, the trees blowing heavily and the dead leaves and sand scattering about.
A slightly startled look appeared on Cherith's face as she opened her eyes to the situation around her, pressing her back against the tree behind her and blocking her eyes from the gradually violent wind.
As she places a hand on the tree root behind her, she removes it as her hand seemed to sink and she sees her palm had rot and tree dirt on it.
A look of disgust and surprise appears on her face as she scrambles to her feet, turning to look at the tree that rapidly began to shrink and rot.
The skies darker and grey, and the area…
The air seemed… cold and sinister…
"What the…"
She let out a small shout as reality seemed to twist and churn and she stumbled as the ground seemed to move beneath her feet.
And suddenly… she felt like something was watching her.
Looking up in the skies, she gulped in fear as she saw two slanted eyes shapes that we're crimson in color.
'FASCINATING…'
The voice seemed to say inside her mind and she grabbed at her head, wishing everything would go back to normal.
'HOW WONDERFUL…MY HERALD…'
Gathering chaos inside her, building up and lighting up her very skin, she let out a small shout as it exploded out of her, banishing the darkness from around her, and she falls to the ground in relief, as a cold chuckle faded from her mind.
"What the fuck was that…"
She wheezed out, looking around to find everything was normal… the sun was shining, the trees were healthy…
It had almost been like… like she'd imagined it all.
H—
She looked at the tome on the floor, specifically the spell…
Cherith shook a bit.
He was real… definitely real.
The Chaos god.
Chthon.
And if she didn't know any better… she had just alerted herself to him… all the way from another dimension.
"Well shit…"
Another chapter!!
Our dear unapologetic Prom Queen but she's still a teenager no matter how mature she is and mistakes will always happen.
I mean… who in their right mind tried out a spell they aren't too sure of??
Then again… she's weirdly odd and her psychiatrist did say she was mildly suicidal so.
Did you catch the part about the Darkhold containing spells that could destroy vampires and werewolves??
Oddly enough it is MCU canon.
The question is how it'll play out in the future, what with the brotherhood's hatred of the vampire species… hmm…
I couldn't resist and I had to make her and Klaus officially meet, lol.
Like I said, Klaus does act like a glorified spoilt toddler with very good English most of the time and it is easy to spot when someone is annoying him… except when he's amused of course.
And I did say their relationship is going to be passive aggressive, seeing as he tried to kill her sister and really, no matter how much we try to deny it… he's a bad guy. And Cherith lives for frustrating and destroying his type… lol.
I think we can understand her frustration with him being gorgeous though... it's not fair.
As for Chthon's surprise appearance... no. I won't say a thing, lol.
P.S Videam chaos in veritate!--Let me see chaos in truth!
Hope you guys comment what you think!!
Thank you!!
