Chapter 15

Friday came in a blink of an eye and my date was waiting below my house 20 minutes before the actual meeting time. I chuckled at his flustered pacing side to side in front of my house fence, occasionally reaching for the doorbell and then yanking his hand away just a millimetre before he actually touched it. I stretched on my black stockings that came all the way up my hips. I made sure to be extra careful when pulling it on, trying not to cause a rip because those things were as fragile as plastic wraps.

I never wore stockings before, but it was a date, and rather, I have never been on a date, so might as well dress to fit in the social standards of dates. Pulling up my short blood-red skirt, I tied a small golden chain onto my neck, the golden apple pendant glittered on my collarbone, contrasting perfectly with my white fuzzy sweater that sipped off of my shoulders.

The overall look was clean and seductive but also innocent. Walking towards my front door, I pulled on thick high heel boots and clomped them around the tiled front door before calling out a goodbye to my brother who was upstairs. I opened the door to reveal a wide-eyed Kyotani who was just about the knock on the front door.

"Wow-Sayu, you look-"

I giggled as his mouth gaped open and close before coughing away furiously to the side.

"Thank you, you look dashing too," I said, not exactly looking at what he was wearing. His oversized jacket covered most of his average build along with his neatly brushed hair that reflected the sun because of the overuse of gel. His eyes lowered to the ground bashfully, shifting on both of his feet.

"Let's go?" I nodded towards the direction of the gate before Kyotani beamed stiffly, guiding me towards the school.

"So Kyotani," I started as we walked past the countless stalls, the merry mood in the air as noises of chatterings and laughs filled my ears along with the scent of cooked food. Grilled squid to be exact. Actually, the air was filled with all sorts of smells, the sizzling smoked bacon along with the fresh green onions on top of the takoyaki just rows down from the stand we were standing in line for.

The crepe stand blew off fresh vanilla and a chocolaty whiff as I sniffed it, gulping down the drool that was going to appear any time soon if I didn't get my hands on one.

"Do you have any siblings?" I asked, trying to take my mind off of the smell of scandalizing bananas.

"Oh no, I'm the only child." Kyotani shifted his weight onto one leg before stepping forwards as the line moved. "That's why I'm a bit jealous of your brother."

"My brother?" I tiled my head at his response. "Why him?"

"Well, he's smart and handsome, not to mention...he has a sister like you." He shook his shoulders before glancing at me with shifty eyes full of nervousness.

Well, yeah, and this sister is going to backstab him with a Death Note.

"Don't even talk about how smart he is." I frowned, grumbling as Kyotani's eyebrows raised up. "You don't even know how stuck up he is."

"He's stuck up?" Kyotani scratched his head. "But I heard he was the role model for students?"

"Oh, you don't know," I smirked before walking forwards again. "He has a goddamn God complex."

"Isn't that normal though? I mean, if I could, I would want to rule over the world too." Kyotani shrugged as he followed me, sniffing the air.

Oh yeah, but I doubt you'll do something like saving the world from criminals and turning completely brain dead when his rival disappears.

"Let's not talk about him anyways," I brushed it off before craning my head to squint at the menu that was 6 pairs of customers away. "What would you do if you ruled over the world?"

"Me?" He paused before uttering out, "world peace, I guess?"

It took all my facial muscles to not cringe and spit in his face.

"Wow," I forced the ball of disgust down my throat. "That's such a," I mentally started to hyperventilate. "Honorable wish! Ah, now it makes me feel like such a bad person!"

I physically took the chance to smack my face before twitching my eye under my hand.

"Really?" Kyotani laughed sheepishly and shook his head. "What would you do if you ruled?"

"Hm…" I tapped my finger upon my lips, staring at the sky and begging for this date to end. "I dunno, maybe become a food gourmet. I'm quite selfish, you know?

"Really? I never took you for a foodie." He glanced at me, "you could try for that occupation without having to rule the world, you know?"

"I do, but my parents would never have allowed it." I shrugged as we reached the crepe menu, pulling out our wallets.

"Ah, police dad, right?" Kyotani turned to me after ordering a pecan chocolate crepe. I took the chocolate banana before whispering to the cook to put an extra helping of chocolate.

"You never knew before you asked me out on a date?" I raised my eyebrows in amusement. "And here I thought you were so brave to date the daughter of the chief."

Kyotani laughed coyly after we took our crepes and leaned closer to me.

"Your dad won't arrest me for crushing on his daughter, right?" He smiled innocently before leaning back.

I giggled, taking a bite out of the crepe before chewing its gooey goodness. The flavours filled my mouth as I took another bite, scruffing it down my throat. It was sweet enough to make you addicted, but not enough to make you turn away because the sweet was too strong.

We continued walking around the fair, laughing and commenting about each other's family and dreams. It was plain sweet, yet this sweetness felt so bland in my mouth. It was like I wasn't satisfied even though he was being such a gentleman. I rolled my neck to take a break from the conversation before bumping into a tall frame of someone.

"Oh, sorry I- Light?" My eyes trailed upon his unwavering ones before his frown turned up and he smiled innocently at my partner.

"Hey Sayu, I never imagined you were here." He said casually. "Who's this?"

I almost snorted at his act, turning to my partner with a bright grin.

Oh, this was going to be fun.

"Light, meet Kyotani. Kyotani, meet my stuck-up brother Light." I gestured between them.

"Stuck up?" Light raised his eyebrows and turned to me with a mocking upturn of his lips. "Who are you calling stuck up?"

"My dear brother, that's who." I purred softly, rising up my tiptoes before whispering furiously, "should I also add possessive? I never thought you had it in you, Light."

Light's eyes darkened before giving me a look of genuine irritation.

I tiptoed higher, planting a big kiss on his cheek before lowering and parted with him, stepping closer to Kyotani. Light's broad shoulders shrugged slightly before flashing both me and Kyotani a light chuckle.

"Looks like my sister is angry at me for messing up your date." He said, eyes flashing sarcastically before turning full-on sympathetic. "But I swear I was just on an errand for mom."

Light raised his arm to reveal two bags filled with groceries.

Oh yeah? Well, our school grounds don't have a shopping market, so I doubt you'd curve an extra block to come here and get some grilled squid.

"Oh, no, don't worry, actually I should be the one to apologize for taking up her time today." Kyotani shook his head and placed his hand on my shoulder, tapping me apologetically.

I gave him an overly dazzling smile and leaned my head onto his shoulder before shooting my brother a 'shoo shoo' motion with my hand. Surprisingly, Light's eyes softened for a quick second as he shrugged, saying goodbye to the both of us before turning away towards the school exit.

Well, that was unexpected.

I turned towards Kyotani who was also looking at me with a puzzled expression. Well, no matter, it was time to end my date anyways. Pulling on Kyotani's arm, I leaned over to his ear and whispered.

"You will go home three hours later, safe and sound. Tomorrow when your friends ask you about this date, you'll tell them that you weren't interested because you realized all you wanted was for us to be friends. One month later, you will start showing signs of depression. The following week after that month, you will start taking a route under the bridge across town." I paused momentarily in my speech to catch my breath.

I can't let him act too quickly after our so-called date. It would bring too many questions and too much suspicion onto me.

My mind flashed quickly before narrowing my eyes to continue my orders.

"On January the 28th, 5 pm, you will torture yourself by slitting open your stomach and taking out your intestines. Then, you will sew your stomach up and walk home with the intestines in your backpack." I let him go and watched his face go blank before snapping back to his natural expression.

"I have to go, Kyotani!" I waved before taking a few steps forward. "See you at school tomorrow!"

Kyotani waved cheerfully before disappearing into the crowd.

I stepped into my house as my mom came to greet me hurriedly, telling me that my friends were upstairs in my room. I nodded, thanking her as she gave me a tray of tea to take up.

I closed the door behind me, watching all the girls look at me with wiggling eyebrows.

"So," Isame casually pulled up as I sat down on the floor, glancing at the snack in the middle of my room. "How was the date?"

"Fine." I sighed tiredly. "He was the perfect boyfriend material."

They went silent and exchanged glances from my simple sentence, all of them giving each other knowing looks before one of them spoke up.

"But?" Tsubame took a cup from the tray, sipping it before turning to look at me.

"But he was too boring for my tastes." I finished, taking a cup for myself before Miyara groaned in exasperation.

"I told you he wasn't good enough for this girl!" Miyara threw her hands into the air before smacking herself in the face. "With a brother like that, your standards would be higher than any girl out there!"

"You guys all saw my brother?" I said slowly as they all nodded.

"Gosh damn he had long eyelashes," Aoiko complained.

"And long fingers, perfect for fixing electronics." Tsubame nodded.

"I liked his butt." Miyara pointed out as we all gasped in unison.

"Mia!" I hissed. "Do not, ogle at my brother's butt!"

"That was so creepy!" Isame scrunched up her face before turning towards me. I seethed, glaring at Miyara before wrinkling my nose to imagine Light's butt. I never noticed that his butt was attractive.

"Anyhow," I cleared my throat before turning to Miyara with a lower voice. "Mia, can you go to the bridge across town on January 28th? 5 pm?"

Miyara's eyes flashed blank before nodding stiffly.

"Watch from above the bridge, if there is anyone loitering around, you will act natural, as if pondering over something. You will not scream or call or help. You will only watch and record everything on a camera. Bring the sim card to me the next day at school. Leave after there is no movement." I finished whispering and turned to the other three.

"Aoiko, start talking with Tsubame about your upcoming anticipation for your new school, loudly," I said in deliberate English, pointing to the wall that separated my room and Light's.

"Over there."

Both girls who somehow understood nodded before shifting to the wall and raising their volume. I raised my eyebrows for a split second, wondering if I should teach them French so that it would be easier to command them in public. I shook my head immediately.

Not now.

Just focus on the task at hand.

"Isame," I called out quietly, snapping her attention towards me. "Go to my bag and take out the duotang labelled 'Extra paper for AP class."

She immediately stood up and walked towards my bag, rummaging through it.

"Miyara you will go to Light's room and knock on his door, asking him if you could borrow his notes from 8th grade. Do whatever you have to, stall time for 10 minutes before returning here." I gestured to the door before she murmured a 'yes' and exited my room.

Isame had returned with the duotang in hand. I fished out a red pen from my pocket and handed it to her before checking the volume of Aoiko and Tsubame's chattering.

"Take out one of the papers, write my brother's name while picturing his face. Afterwards, write the exact words, 'will physically be unable to write his younger sister's name on any death note pages, and will be unable to order anyone to kill her. Cause of death: Original lifespan.'"

Robotically, Isame slipped out a sheet of paper from the duotang, sitting down before hunching over and pressing the ink onto the paper. Everything was prevented perfectly. Thin walls proved no threat with all the talking, Miyara's distraction almost guaranteed prevention from him knocking on my door.

Everything would work.

This was it.

This will happen.

And then he will never be able to write my name in the Death Note.

My lips curled up viciously before eyeing Isame's every letter seeping deeply like blood into the paper. Each hand stroke made my grin wider, colouring my vision with red with victory.

It felt good.

Really, really good.

Suddenly, a shiver crawled up my spine so eerily that I almost gagged in fear. It was so cold that it caused my legs to go numb as my toes clenched from the killing intent. Instantly, my eyes snapped into saucer-wide realization.

"Don't go revealing it to Light, shinigami." I murmured gravely as colour seeped from my face each passing second. "I will show you a better show than my brother could ever do in his entire lifespan."

I could almost picture his glowing red orbs in the dark as the shadows from his spiky shoulders shook with amusement, throwing his head back and cackling at this little game that was going on.

The damn Shinigami could pass through walls.

It had ended smoothly.

Both the farewell party and Light's fate, all sealed, just pass the thin walls of the Yagami's household. All of the girls dispersed sadly, sniffing and hugging Aoiko for the last time before she headed into her father's car, flying away to the other side of the world the next morning.

My lashes fluttered in the cool breeze as I continued to watch the silhouette of Aoiko's car disappearing from the neighbour. Instantly, my mind wandered to the duotang, having 20 of the pages taken out had made the who thing lighter. At least in my mind.

"Keep them hidden with your life." My words echoed in my memories. "After my signal, you will use it."

My expression kept its grim jaw clenched as I turned back to my front door, walking in with a quiet slam behind me. Even if Ryuk did tell Light...his name was already written. It was unchangeable.

I had also kept the duotang with me at all times, making sure that a move like Light's ending would never occur to me. Yes, it was risky to carry the Death Note on my person, yet none of the surveillance things had happened yet, nor did L dare to enter the house before that with my dad on his team.

I ducked my head down and headed straight for my room, shifting my eyes from side to side before coming face to face with Light. For a moment there, I felt the hairs on my back stand, waiting for him to kill me with just a flick of his wrist.

No, I thought darkly.

He can't kill me anymore.

"Light," I greeted before stepping up the last couple of stairs to stand right in front of him, noticing the sleeves on his forearms pushed up to his elbows.

"Your blonde friend seemed pretty fond of my butt back here." His voice was blank without emotion although his words meant to tease. I furrowed up my eyebrows without meeting his eyes. Was he angry? Disgusted? Flattered?

Hell, I'd be flattered if someone complimented me that bluntly!

It was a split second before Light's fingers twisted my chin up so that his eyes were penetrating the depth of my soul with unhidden coldness.

Crap. Did he find out about his name on the Death Note?

I almost yelped in self-defence before his lips crashed onto mine, rendering me breathless sending jolts of tingling sensations down my neck. Blinking rapidly I heard the voices of our parents in the kitchen, talking about as the sound of clinking plates rang into my head in panic.

Wait, wait, they're right down there!

My hands instantly flew to Light's broad chest before he changed the position of his mouth, unrestrained in movement despite our literal blood-related parents downstairs.

I sighed almost immediately.

Gosh, I craved him.

The sounds disappeared almost instantly as his lips moved against mine, desperately capturing everything I had to offer. I felt his hands slip off my flushed face and trail downwards to my hips to hold me in place as if scared that I would move away. At first, I was scared of his movement, flinching every time as our breathing synced but then it just suddenly disappeared, fluttering away from my mind and into my chest.

Play the game. Entrance him, entice him to want more.

My finger padded gently against his shirt as they snaked their way to meet each other around his neck, pulling me closer towards him. Our scents mingling together as we parted once, trying to catch our breaths. My eyes flickered to his hypnotic ones, licking my lips to savour his sweet taste.

Instantly his eyes darkened again before launching forwards and making my toes curl. He groaned when I pushed back, aggressively biting down on my soft plumps as I shuddered from the taste of my own blood. He bit harder, trying to tear my flesh apart as I moaned and clenched harder onto his build. Blood seeped in between his teeth and dribbled down my chin before he furiously licked the taste as if claiming it to be exclusively his. My heart squeezed and unclenched by his actions, beating rapidly in my chest.

Oh. My mind twitched at the information.

He was jealous.

Nipping back at him numbly, my hands travelled up his neck and grasped his silky hair before pushing his head down, returning the forceful gesture. He grunted animalistically before hoisting me up with his hands on my butt as my leg slithered down between his thighs.

"Light! Sayu! Dinner!"

Ripping his mouth away from mine his furious snarl filled my ears before instantly thrusting his expression into a tight frown. I too glared daggers at the direction of the voice before loosening my arms around his neck and balancing my weight back onto my feet.

"Coming!" Light's calm voice deadpanned out as we stared at each other, both panting furiously for a moment before both parting away respectfully into our own rooms to get changed.

We were both playing a very dangerous game.

I touched my bruised bottom lip gingerly as I stared hard at the small round mirror on my desk.

Both of us wanted to shackle the other with this blinding desire and bend it to our advantage.

My mouth frowned as I sucked the now swollen part, mind spinning a hundred miles per hour. The surprised meeting at the fair, including his sudden departure shortly after I told him to leave...then the kiss.

He wasn't jealous.

No, he was trying to make me think that he was jealous. He was deliberately forcing me to believe that he was craving my attention. He was the first that initialled the kiss, of course! Not to mention that he deliberately stopped by my school fair to set the whole damn thing up!

He gave me a reason to believe that he was jealous of my little date there, then acted accordingly to his plan, behaving so much more aggressively than the last time. He caught me off guard by kissing directly at the same time our parents were downstairs to distract me to forget his deliberate meeting at the fair.

I balled up my fists, feeling my ice-cold fingertips digging at my wary, hot palms.

How did he do it?

I whispered viciously into my mind.

How was he so good at hiding his intentions even when doing something that could disgust himself to the point of death?

He is truly a genius.

The voice inside me whispered in breathless awe.

Genius he was, but that was extremely terrifying and dangerous.

He can do anything, bear anything if he thought it was useful to him.

I agreed silently, pacing towards my makeup drawer for any signs of a lip balm to cover the bruise.

What a marvellous character they've created.

The voice spoke out almost lovingly.

But you have gained the upper hand, my girl.

I twisted the cap of the cherry lipstick and smeared it elegantly to fill the shape of my plump lips.

He is now playing the game that heartless women have the advantage in.

As long as I don't fall.

As long as you don't fall.

Author's note:

Whoot! I placed a lot of symbolism in this chapter!

Can you recognize them all?

Let me give you guys a hint: Golden apple pendant, blood-red skirt, blood in between teeth and just every mention of blood, LOL.

Annnnd DRUMROLL!

Golden Apple: Adam and Eve's sin.

Blood red skirt: A more modern symbolization to Virgin Mary in the Handmaids' tale. A symbol of power, menstrual blood, and future *cough* action between the siblings.

Blood in between teeth: Literally swallowing of the blood that runs through both of their veins, indicating sin. Also for the fact that it's seeping in between, meaning that it really shouldn't be going through.

Well, aside from the fact that both of them are using each other despite everything, it might be pretty gore-ish if you think about it.

But well, with a male protagonist like Light, none of the relationships he has can be normal.

I know I said that I'll tackle the problem of incest in one of my past chapters, but with how it's turning out, they're actually using this to keep each other in check. Also, mind that it's not really mental incest since I mean, OC is not really Sayu. :D

Also, Sayu is using her body to trap Light. She does not care for the so-called 'virginity.'

Hope you enjoyed this chapter!

Comments are desperately needed!
