Now how to play this chapter out in a way to correspond with the earlier chapters? I love Touka as a character and how the brief end to the anime went about but I just can't get myself to see Ken with anyone else but Hide with how the first 2 seasons went about.

The real reason behind the idea of dying hair. Feels out of place now. Can't deny that Juuzou looks great with black hair though.

Hide's alternate hooded attire idea came from Amazon. Going by altered anime style.

Ken finally mustered up the question of Hide going to Anteiku for some coffee and was relieved to hear he'd accept. Only thing tugging at his brain was 'Would it be better to dye my hair black and buy an eye patch?' so he'd feel more human than ghoul. Ken followed Hide into the shop spotting the blue violet haired waitress(since Touka's hair went from looking blue in regular tokyo ghoul to looking purple in RE) from his old life. Didn't seem like she noticed him or Hide, currently clad a black bunny rabbit musical notes musician shirt, a turquoise slim fit lightweight zipper hoodie, skinny dark gray flex stretch twill and rinse denim pants and black air running shoes/basketball sneakers as they sat down at a table.

"I'm sorry for springing so much on you. Everything just rolled off my tongue and I thought you'd take it the wrong way. If you prefer to see my human self again, I'd have to get my hair dyed. I just won't be able to eat anything when we go places due to my 'condition'." says Ken shadow eyed.

"It would benefit toward hiding from my co-workers." says Hide thoughtfully.

"Hide...I mean so we can start over again and we will actually be happy with the idea of becoming more than friends if life presents itself that way." says Ken awkwardly.

"Does having white hair weird you out that much?" wonders Hide.

"Not really. White hair kinda sounds awesome. Being a ghoul doesn't sound half bad either when there's nothing separating our bond. It does make me feel like a heartless killer though. Not that I am...its just the way I react when I sense I am in danger...I guess is how I'd put it. I'd be a heartless killer to those who see me as one." says Ken.

"Ken Kaneki, the heartless stir crazy half ghoul who fights on instinct, fetching his best bud while staying in the darkness. Unseen to the naked eye unless its whoever you focus on. Sounds foreboding if you're into horror." says Hide.

"I have to wonder how life would be if I let my ghoul instincts take over by eating random humans as it slowly changed my body. Morphing it into the body you see in front of you. The human in me feeling super weird and repulsed but as the days go on the ghoul side slowly makes me crazy...going into hiding every time I hear footsteps." says Ken saddening.

"If we were to meet under different circumstances, how do you think it'd play out?" wonders Hide noticing his friend Touka.

"On instinct, I'd...I...would leave the house through my bedroom window to check on you day or night while weighing the option of letting you see me for what I became. Last thing I want is for us to be enemies." mumbles Ken.

"Yet I was one step ahead of you. Letting you open up before I got the chance to say anything. Fair enough though. Worries really do get the best of people and certain ghouls." says Hide chuckling at the last part.

"The problem with this...no, no, I uhh...I didn't know what to expect from the you Yuki and Yuno created. Its mortifying thinking there's a Hide who would kill ghouls with a vengeance due to what happened with Rize. One look at me and you'd wanna back away and flee from shock or worse injure me while I want nothing more than to hug you without having to use my kagune to take the weapons from you." says Ken shaky eyes looking at the table.

"Nah, if I never knew of your ghoulification, you would track me down to my place and lean over me as I moved around in my sleep like a creeper. I'd be confused by the shadow in the room as I blink awake from the rustling in the room then stare wide eyed seeing your white haired smiling face. You'd give me a heart attack for sure seeing your tentacles come out of your back. Half asleep minds can't tell one ghoul from another especially when startled to death. I'd be in disbelief putting the pieces together in my mind toward your seemingly dead disappearance turned ghoul form. Not knowing my own friends face would just mean I'd have to deal with the idea of my brother turning into a ghoul. At first I will be in denial like anyone else would. Making new memories feels so much better than me trying to kill you or ignore you while you tell me your oddball reasoning." says Hide.

"Don't even go there Hide. Just cuz I told you those things doesn't mean you would let me around you. You, who could never get over human me wouldn't care to hang around ghoul me. Ghoul me has a completely different way of life from yours. I can look and act human but I can never be the human from the school days." says Ken.

"Now you're putting yourself in an even more depressing mood." says Hide.

'Don't you know any other coffee shops Hide?' wonders Touka coming toward the table.

"Is it a crime to buy coffee in Ken's honor?" wonders Hide happily.

"Its a crime keeping us from leaving over needing someone to vent too." says Touka unamused readying the notepad and pen.

"No need to put up with me any longer." says Hide.

"Find someone to vent to that doesn't count as the shameful ghoul killers?" wonders Touka.

"Even better!" says Hide grinning.

"You are not going to tell me the teen is miraculously alive." groans Touka annoyed.

"The dead Ken Kaneki came back to me as a ghoul." says Hide winking at Ken.

Ken stared at Touka staying mute. The old Touka would kill him for ditching the ghouls who wanted to be treated as humans but this Touka wouldn't know what his ghoul form looked like. No-one at Anteiku would recognize him as he is now because this was only the second time coming to the shop. To them he was an unknown ghoul and think Hide was joking.

Ken went to say something but couldn't figure out what to say to a Touka who knew nothing about him.

"Cat got your tongue albino?" wonders Touka.

Ken shook his head wanting to shrink away from the ghouls he betrayed.

"Is your head screwed on right Hide? Everyone in Japan saw the news report. There weren't any remains found of the poor teen that hung out with you a few hours prior. For the teen to come into sight unharmed is unbelievable. No, for him to appear unnoticed would be quite the scoop. A shy away kid who buries his head in books wouldn't dare dye his hair if he wanted to be with his best friend again." says Touka calling Hide's bluff.

"Hurts to hear that. I may like you but Kaneki is who needs me the most." says Hide.

"He's dead dumbass. Zombies don't exist. The undead don't walk the earth. That's fucked up." says Touka annoyed.

"Not even if he was sitting across from me at this very moment?" wonders Hide staring at Touka.

"What world are you on if you instantly found your coffee buddy!? Why would he be the teen you're with now?" wonders Touka.

"Still planet earth and even without explanation, I just know the albino would be Kaneki. I know Kaneki more than anyone in Japan." says Hide teasing Touka.

"I have no time for this. I can't keep track of every customer who comes in on a daily basis. You can't recreate the black haired mute by cutting the dyed white hair to make the kid you claim as Kaneki have the same hairstyle." huffs Touka.

"He's not some kid. He's Kaneki yet not. His transformation shouldn't hinder him." says Hide amused.

"Keep telling yourself that and I will choke you to death in front of the staff." says Touka.

"You can try but friends don't kill friends. You can be angry all you want but you will never do anything." says Hide.

"PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE WHY GHOULS CAN'T TRUST HUMANS! ACTING LIKE EVERYTHING IS HUNKY DORY UNTIL YOU TURN ON THE GHOUL YOU CLAIM AS A FRIEND! GHOUL KILLERS AND GHOULS DONT MIX WELL! GOT IT?!" yells Touka.

Hide chuckled at the sight of a pissed off Touka.

"What's so funny about making someone pissed off?" wonders Ken frowning.

"Just buy coffee before I tear your head off for toying with me moron." says Touka frowning.

"A slice of chocolate cake and hot chocolate for me and a black coffee for the white haired Kaneki lookalike." says Hide.

"Don't act like I'm a lookalike in front of people. Its weird." says Ken.

"Touka and the workers of this cafe barely know you to get what I mean toward your ghoulish state. Will be hard convincing them unless I show her the picture of the comparison." says Hide.

"You wouldn't." says Ken glaring at Hide.

"You want food or not Kaneki?" wonders Hide.

"...you can't just ask someone 'How much human flesh can you hand over? Kaneki went from being human to ghoul and he will die without getting something in his stomach!' You'd have to be off your rocker to ask ghouls that. The manager may be more reasonable towards my situation. Not so much the others..." says Ken unamused.

"With that attitude, you won't see things for what they are." says Hide.

"Stop talking about ghouls around the other customers. Talk about it when there are no customers around." says Touka.

"But Kaneki is to bashful to talk to Yoshimura. Imagining him freaking out and bunching words together while talking fast sounds entertaining though." says Hide.

"Morons like you make me skeptical." growls Touka walking away.

Ken turned his head blushing in embarrassment.

"You literally had a frazzled mind trying to tell your case to Yoshimura?" wonders Hide laughing.

"Whatya want a human turned ghoul to say right off the bat to willing ghouls? My mind was in a frantic haze and this place felt like a safe haven until...you get the idea." mumbles Ken annoyed.

"Would be nice to know how your kagune would react to me. Would you let them wrap around me, keeping me at your side at night as we sleep? Does it think on its own? It does know what goes on in your head right? So you can imagine the possibilities." says Hide thoughtfully.

"Don't change the subject! Kagune link with torture and bloodshed so I dunno how I can use them without it being battle related. I've never tried that way of looking at it." says Ken wide eyed.

"Are they like a warm blanket that cocoons humans or a pillow for the riled up ghouls to ease the mind?" wonders Hide.

"She is right to ask you where your brain ends up. It wanders endlessly without a pinpoint mark to stick to." says Ken.

"How else can you lighten the mood for a ghoul?" wonders Hide staring at Ken.

"You can't." mutters Ken.

"Course I can. It is you after all. And I hate seeing sorrow forever etched on your face." says Hide frowning.

"The only way you of all people would talk about tentacles is..." says Ken stunned.

"Is what Kaneki?" wonders Hide as the air around them tenses up.

"Either you've never been bothered by ghouls or it was due to me turning into one. I dont know how long you were infatuated with ghouls and the way you are talking...oh god no. Nope. Nope. Nope. Being brothers comes before being boyfriends. Toooo sudden for my brain to comprehend. Does this mean you...YOU ARE SECRETLY A PERVERT, ARENT YOU!?" says Ken wanting the thoughts out of his head.

Hide went quiet.

"You...you...you uhhhh yeeaaahhhhh...you just basically said 'As long as it is Kaneki, our bond will grow even better now that Kaneki's life flipped around.' to the point my scarred mind would be even more scarred between you and Juuzou spouting on and on about how great it would be for me and you to be a thing! Agreeing with Juuzou to us STARTING mind you...to become lovers...I dont wanna get into that mindset. Making things even more awkward would blow my self esteem even further than it already has thinking up ways to talk to you without it getting weirder by the second. And by the way...JUUZOU HANGING AROUND DOESNT AND WILL NEVER HELP AT ALL!" says Ken shaky eyed trying to smile.

"I meant in a bodyguard type of protection not that fucked up crap. Ghoul tentacles do give off that vibe though." says Hide jolting back.

"I have to stay skeptical at all times. You may think one thing but once its out of your mouth you cant undo whats been said." says Ken scooching his seat back.

"Smooooth." grumbles Touka arriving at the table.

"Chatting is not going so well. My 'ghoul' buddy as you put him down as just got the wrong idea when I asked about that Kagune thing ghouls do." says Hide glancing at Touka.

"No shit sherlock. Humans dont go around asking to be wrapped by kagune or get thrilled by the thought. Especially ghoul killers who ask ghouls to many questions to get an idea of how they go about things. You, dipshit, are both to eager for a new Kaneki to be in your life and the investigator in you will yap up a storm until you tell your co-workers. You've been hanging around the crazy kid way to much these past few months. SO of course the teen is gonna think you went in a direction THATS NOT MEANT TO BE MENTIONED! KEEP THOUGHTS LIKE THAT IN A DIFFERENT ROOM! A LOCKED ROOM IF I DRAG YOU BOTH TO SUCH A ROOM!" says Touka handing Ken his coffee and Hide his cake slice and hot chocolate.

Ken and Hide stared at Touka without another word, watching Touka head back to the bar to chat with Koma.
