Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
The Beginning of Destiny
Disclaimer: I don't own Yugioh, its spin-offs, or its games, just the main character and the extras I throw in.
This takes place before the episode A Spirit Summoned
Sorry for taking so long to update, just been preoccupied with life lately, or to put it simply, wither I like it or not, being an adult meaning trying to maintain a living. Anyway, with all the changes being made to the game lately, especially when a new Yugioh series comes out, right now is making me question wither it's worth sinking a bunch of money into new cards just to catch up and keep up, with all the new rules and card type that keep coming out. Don't get me wrong, I can adapt and keep up, but the question would be more like would I want to since the game feels more complicated when compared to about 20 years ago when people were being introduced to Yugi and his friends. And with the playing field about to get crowded, right now feels like the word simple is starting to fade away when trying to describe the game itself.
Sorry if the duel turns out weak, it's hard to come up with original ideas for decks while trying to remember what cards were available during the first season of GX. Plus, I haven't the played the game for a long time, that I barely remember all the cards in the game, as well as collected any cards, making me a bit behind on the times. And to tell the truth, the last series I've watched was 5Ds and stopped when Zexal started, mainly because the anime was starting to lose its touch, and the Arc V one makes it seem like the anime is straying from whatever path that started with Yugi.
Oh, and before I forget, I'm going to use deck recipes from the third tier characters, the ones that were thrown in with no real purpose then be background and make it where the island at least looks more lifelike, somewhat, along with a structure deck, and maybe a recipe I created, that or wing it a bit.
It was now the day of the challenge, which usually just includes a small crowd, mainly a faculty member or two to oversee the battle, the challenger and challenged, and a friend or two to watch the whole thing. But this time, thanks to the now exposed ex-academy queen, the room was full, mainly to put pressure on Aeris so that she would be too nervous, and too scared, to put up a fight against the only person still putting up with her, although that is about to change.
Right now, the ones closest to Aeris were far from pleased at this, at least the smart half, because when it came to dueling, that it should be done with honor and respect from both sides. This was just overkill on Seika's part, considering she blames Aeris for being stupid enough to trust her with the bad trade, which led to her boyfriend exposing her. While knowing that the girl has been working on a new deck, thanks to Will's help, along with finding the strength from within, with a full room, she's hoping Aeris would become too nervous to focus on even her own deck.
"Wow, for something that is supposed to be a small thing, this place is packed." Jaden said.
"Yeah, I know, for something simple as a challenge, this is way too much." Syrus said.
"It's because of Seika that things are like this," Alexis said, with a sigh, "She still can't let it go that somebody like Will had the nerve to humiliate her in a duel in front of so many people, but also the fact that he had an even bigger nerve to have her pay for something she did, even though she herself believes that she is never wrong."
"And now she is hoping to get her revenge on Will by going after his girlfriend." Bastion said, "Also, even though Aeris has gotten her deck the way she wants it, Seika is hoping that she would start to doubt herself."
"Wow, that's just crazy." Jaden said.
"Yeah, no kidding," Chumley said, "taking your anger on other people is just not 'licious."
"Indeed," Zane said, hanging out with the group, trying to be more of a big brother then the top academy student, after his chat with Will when he asked what was more important, trying to make yourself out as a strong duelist or staying close to your own family, "Before the match, Will came to Chancellor Sheppard's office and had the courage to tell him about how he believes that Seika needs to be removed from the academy after the duel, especially when she cracks, because he was afraid what were to happen after the duel, and she takes things a little too far, especially outside of duels. While the Chancellor wants to believe in the best in people, even was willing to give her another slap on the wrist, I stepped in, and we both told him the things that Crowler probably never told him, along with things we've observed, especially how far she goes to make me her King of the Academy, and now, he has to see for himself what she is capable of, before making a decision of that caliber."
"Wait, Will actually believes that this Seika would go that far?" Jaden asked, while his friend never gives anybody a reason to doubt him, unless you're a jerk trying to take him out in anyway, but this, was too much.
"Actually, he would be right on the money." Alexis said, getting their attention, "When I told Professor Fontaine about Will defeating Seika, she had a concerned look on her face and told me about the things she heard and seen that Seika would do to anybody who stands up to her, and told me to warn Will to keep his guard up."
This was when Crowler walked up to the dueling field and took his place as the referee, "Okay, let's get this challenge duel that was issued yesterday," Crowler said, Before starting introductions of the duelists, "First up is the person who issued the challenge, Scarlet Kasai," He said, just as a girl with fiery red hair, which obviously matches her namesake, walked out of the tunnel, with Seika as her moral support, or in most people's cases, her boss keeping a tight leash on the help, "And the challenger, the one who has been given the challenge, Aeris Strife." Out walked Aeris, who looked a little nervous, yet was feeling calmer because Will is walking right by her side.
Just before Aeris walked up the steps, Will stopped her to give her a good luck kiss on the cheek, and whispered into her ear "You'll get the rest after the duel," He said, causing her to blush, thinking about getting the rest of that kiss (If you're thinking something M-rated, your minds are too deep in the gutter), "Just do your best and win or lose, just remember that at least you gave it your all to the very end."
Giving him a thankful nod, with a small grin, despite the fact that a small blush was on her cheeks, and it didn't help that her dorm mates were giving out, an mixture of cat calls and aww's can be heard, and she is pretty sure that the ones that do have boyfriends, either on or off the island, are a bit envious at the fact that hers isn't afraid to show his love to her, she got into position. She checked her duel disk to make sure it was fit securely, but comfortably enough for her, before putting her deck into the slot, then looked up towards her opponent, while finding it hard not to notice Seika with a smirk on her face, like she has already won this.
"What's the matter, don't believe she can win?" Seika asked, trying to build mistrust between the two.
"Oh, I believe she could win," Will said, and Aeris knew he meant it considering the warm feeling she felt in her heart, "Yet this is her duel and only she can put in the effort towards the win. Like I said, win or lose, as long as she gives it her all, and fights with honor, I'll always be proud of her."
Deciding to put an end to this battle of words, Crowler, even though he somewhat agreed to some of the things the Ra boy said, "Are both duelists ready?" He asked, getting a nod from both, "Then commence the duel."
Being the one to be challenged, Aeris drew the first card of the duel, and after looking at it, along with the rest of her hand, "I play Spirt of the Harp in defense position and place two cards onto the field." She said, finishing the first turn of the duel.
Scarlet drew a card and placed it into her hand, before pulling out the monster of her choice, "I play Blazing Inpachi in attack position." She said, in a monotone voice.
Over in the stands, with the crew everybody was a bit mesmerized at a battle between a Pyro deck, which are used to cause all kinds of damage, against a Fairy deck that mainly focuses on life recovery and receiving minimal damage to the person using it. It also shows who is better accustomed with their deck and which one is still getting used to theirs, which is why, no matter how well Aeris seems to be putting up a fight, she seems to be struggling a bit with herself.
"Wow, Aeris is dueling better then you Syrus, and she is just using the deck she just finished." Jaden said, showing why tact is his weakest point.
While feeling a little hurt at that statement, especially his pride as a duelist, "I know Jay, although it looks like Aeris is struggling with herself more than her deck." Syrus said, "Is she really that nervous about being in front of so many people?"
"That's part of the reason," Alexis said, being the second person to know the redhead the most, although it's mainly from being from the same dorm, "I think most of it is just her being afraid of failing Will if she were to lose, despite how many times Will has told her otherwise. And Seika adding pressure by throwing insults isn't helping much."
"And what about her opponent, what do you know about her?" Bastion asked.
"Right now, Scarlet is Seika's lieutenant, and last loyal follower of Seika's, since the rest of her group abandoned her when Seika's popularity crashed and burned, mainly thinking more about their reputations then hers." Alexis explained, "Although loyal is putting it mildly, because even Scarlet has a code of honor, and from the looks of things, she might end up leaving Seika because of how far things are going. Other than that, everything else is through rumors, and I try not to pay too much attention to those."
Seeing his friend just standing there with his arms crossed, "Why isn't Will lending his support to Aeris?" Syrus said, "Shouldn't he at least be trying to cheer her on?" Syrus asked.
"He is lending her support," Zane said, getting Syrus's attention, "He is supporting her by having her face her demons on her own, while only lending his support when he feels she is on her last leg." He then looked down at his little brother with a small smile, "You see Syrus, just because Will intends to be with her through thick and thin, doesn't necessarily mean he'll be there for her all the time, so he is giving her a chance to fight her own battles with her own strength."
"So what you're saying is that Will is giving her his brand tough love?" Syrus asked.
"Exactly so," Bastion answered, "You know how Will is when it comes to his friends, while he can be kind, he isn't afraid to lay down the law, especially if it's to help his friends overcome any obstacles under their own power."
While thinking this through, Chumley's voice got his attention, "Uh-oh, looks like Aeris is about to give in." He said, getting Syrus to look towards the field.
And indeed, Aeris looked like she wants to throw in the towel, because her opponent summoned Infernal Flame Emperor, a level 9 monster with plenty of bunch, and doing a number on her deck, and her life points, which are down to 500, while Scarlet kept hers from dropping when they reached 2500. And Seika was really dwindling her down to her final nerve. She came into this duel, feeling confident, but after making a couple of rookie mistakes that knocked her confidence down a bit, her focus became more of putting up a fight to win, until, that flaming beast came onto the field. While her boyfriend told her to trust in her deck, right now she was having trouble listening to it.
Just as she was about to collapse, a voice snapped her out of her funk, "Aeris, breathe, focus," Will yelled out, getting her attention, "Remember, just because the odds seem against you, doesn't mean you can't turn them in your favor. Just believe in yourself and your deck, and you can turn this around, just ignore the poison out of Seika's mouth and focus on the duelist in front of you."
Seika wasn't pleased at this, "Shut up you annoying brat, this isn't your duel and you risk getting her disqualified by talking to her." She yelled out, only to receive a cold look to her response, showing her that he isn't bowing down to her anytime soon.
"Shut up yourself, you're not one to talk since that rule would apply to your." Will shot back, "Right now after this, your quest for revenge is going to be the final price you have to pay here, so sit back, and watch the duel come to a head."
Aeris couldn't help but smile at how Will after feeling the spark in her comes back to life as a shining light. Taking a few deep breaths, she looked at her hand, which contained three cards, and one of them can prove useful if she had the luck of the draw on her side, especially with her field bare, and her opponent only has the monster. "I play Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands" when said monster appeared, "And when he is summoned, I can bring out a ritual spell or monster from my deck to my hand, so I choose to bring out Shinato's Ark to my hand," After doing said action, "I then play Card of Sanctity, which causes us to draw until we both have six cards in our hands," when that was complete, before placing a monster onto the field, "I summon Watapon onto the field . . ." She started to explain, only to be interrupted.
This was when Seika threw a fit, showing how badly she lost it with her impatience, "Hey, you can't just place a monster onto the field like that, especially since you already summoned one!" She yelled out.
This was when Will stepped in, "Unless that monster has an ability that makes it an exception to the rule," He explained, "Which when it comes to Watapon, if it's drawn out of the deck other than the regular approach, it can be special summoned."
This caused Seika to shake, because she got the feeling that her plan was about to blow up in her face with this turn.
Aeris gave a nod of thanks towards Will, smile included, before her face went back to serious when looking at her opponent. "Now then, I play Block Attack to change your monster into defense, " after sending that card to the graveyard, she pulls out another card, "Now I play Shinato's Ark, to ritual summon Shinato, King of a Higher Plane on to the field." After sending three monsters to the graveyard, and bringing in a really tall angel onto the field. (If anybody remembers Noah from the original series, try to remember his deck monster)
Not knowing when to shut up, "Ha, what good would that do since Scarlet won't receive any damage to her life point with her monster in defense position." Seika said, thinking that she still had her revenge in the bag.
"Unless Shinato has an ability that can do more damage." Will said, shutting her up.
This time it was Scarlet who asked, getting tired of her now ex-leader's stupidity, "And what ability would that be?"
Aeris was more than glad to answer. "When Shinato defeats a monster that is in defense position, that monster's attack points get taken out of my opponents life points." She said, causing Seika to go wide eye, and demanding Scarlet to do something, even though it would be nothing, "Now Shinato, finished her off." She ordered. After the monster secured her the victory, Aeris had enough strength to get her deck back together and placed back into her deck box, only to faint into Will's arms just when the last of her strength left her completely.
Well, after about a couple of years, here is the latest chapter. What I said earlier, about how I was going to do the decks, I take it back, it's easier said than done. Right now, to tell the truth, I'm a bit rusty, but also stressed a bit, because while I can still remember how to play the game, but playing the video game, that is where most of the stress comes from, especially when you're partnering up with somebody, dear god, your partners are absolute idiots, and the worse one of them all is Dorothy, since she has over 70 cards, and most of the time she draws out level 5 monsters, meaning that you have to pick up the slack most of the time. Anyway, thanks for waiting, and please bear with me while I try to rebuild everything, and trying to get back to the groove of things, especially trying to remember what the series was like by watching it on hulu. Anyway, Read and Review, and hope you all had a nice Easter.
