Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
The Beginning of Destiny
Disclaimer: I don't own Yugioh, its spin-offs, or its games, just the main character and the extras I throw in.
This chapter serves to finish what was started in the last one, with the same episodes as part of the focus. The duel well be the same as it was in the episodes, so you're better off watching it online somewhere if you want to see it.
By the way, if anybody ever played Legacy of the Duelist, any version, what did you think? For me, I got the Link Evolution one for the Switch, and I'm not too thrilled about it. Even though you get to play somewhat similar decks used in the anime, it takes me more than one try to win one duel that feels like it's stuck in really hard mode.

It was the day of the duel-off, and people are in a buzz. A battle between intelligence and instinct, it should really be a sight to see. Even though there are those hoping that Jaden loses badly, since they believe that the boy should not be representing Duel Academy in anyway.
Will is on the path leading to the main building, when he encountered the so called 'new' kid, Gerard at the crossroad. While Jaden introduced him, saying that the man is a new student, Will noticed the guy's reaction during the conversation. Even the shock look when Jaden brought up his nickname, Will had a sneaking suspicion on the guy's true intentions on this island.
When he was just within an earshot, "Maybe you should have done your research before going undercover at an academy like this." Will said, while walking pass.
"Yeah, no kidding." Gerard said, before realizing what was said. Looking at who it was that said that, "How long have you known?"
"Since our meeting yesterday, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one to notice." Will said. "Most of the academy just don't care, especially since you stole the jacket belonging to what a lot of residents would consider the bottom of the barrel."
"So what are you going to do, report me to your Chancellor?" Gerard asked, condescendingly.
"I already did, so chances are, he might be keeping an eye out on you." Will said, before walking away.
Standing there for barely a second, Gerard shook his head, "No way a kid could have that much influence on this island." He said, before continuing his track towards the main building. Having to recover when some kids in blue came running pass him, one of them deciding to do a body check in the process.
Once he reached the top of the hill, Gerard was surprised to see the same kids knocked out to the ground, while Will was just dusting himself off like it was nothing. "Well, looks like I'm going to have a chat with Sheppard before I go to class." Will said to himself, before continuing towards his destination. Sparing the older man a brief glance.
Not sure what he was looking at, Gerard decided to keep going towards wherever his destination is.

Just when the bell for the first class was about to ring, Will stepped into the door, being a bit later than his usual time. Crowler, who is keeping an eye on the attendance, could not hide the smirk on his face. One of the nice things about the PDAs that get passed out to everybody their first day was that they automatically marked a student as present, shaving quite a few minutes when compared to doing roll call by hand. And a real relief, considering how many students can fill up one room at the academy.
"Well, Mr. Walker," Crowler said, in a really condescending tone, still refusing to believe the truth, "You were almost late for class, what could be the cause of that, hmm?"
Will, who just kept walking towards his seat, only said "You should be getting a message any minute now from the Chancellor's office." When he took his seat next to Bastion, placing his hands in front of his face.
Crowler gave a slight snort, and was about to say something snooty, when his computer gave off a small ping. When he opened it, a look of shock appeared on his face. "What is the meaning of this Mr. Rawelk?" He shouted out in a rage, before turning towards his target.
"To put it simply, some Obelisk students decided that they are willing to defy Seto Kaiba's orders towards me and tried to force me to give up my spot." Will said, with a small shrug, "Don't know what you told them, but chances are, you are going to be paying for it, either or."
Now while Crowler gave off a slight growl at this, he was also sweating up a storm. He always thought his students would follow his orders, but now he has to explain why they didn't heed his warnings.
"Okay class, let us get on with today's lesson." Crowler said, wanting to get the day over with.
Although at the moment, everybody is just more focused on the upcoming duel that is coming up real soon.
{Yu-Gi-Oh}
It was now time for the duel, and surprisingly enough, the stadium was about half full. Since it wasn't considered a requirement to attend, a lot of students decided to go do their own thing. Some even believing it might be waste of time because they already 'know' the outcome of the duel. All they have to do is hear it through the grapevine.
At the moment, things started of pleasantly, both sides riling each other up. Then things got intense when Bastion did some serious damage to Jaden's deck by playing the trap card Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell. By preventing Jaden from using Polymerization, one of his best known weapons, Bastion is forcing the boy to make due without it.
While most of the gang were sending Jaden their best wishes, Will is just watching the whole thing with a keen eye. Although a few thoughts were running through his mind, one of them being 'Why do I get the feeling that Jaden missed a key detail?' He asked himself, although he already knew the answer.
Once the duel came to a close, Will stood up, just as some of his friends ran off to congratulate Jaden, Will noticed Alexis talking to Gerard. Sensing nothing of malice, he decided to let things be while walking up to the group, who was now on the duel field, while Crowler looked like he was about explode at any moment.
"Nice duel you two." Will said, as he walked up the steps. Getting a thank you from the two. "You two definitely went past your comfort zones during this duel, while pushing the other to adapt to surprising situations." When both of them gave off big grins, "Although Bastion, you were starting to sound a bit like Chazz the moment you played that trap card."
"How so?" Bastion asked in shock, because somebody would say that to him, "Just because I started to demand Jaden to forfeit after . . . oh." He started to ask, before recalling his words to Jaden, and realized that he got too far ahead of himself. He really thought that going after Polymerization would be all won and done, unfortunately that blew up in his face.
"While research is okay, even in a duel, but as you just observed, it never hurts to be flexible when something out of the blue happens." Will said, getting a nod from his dorm mate. Turning to Jaden, "Well, nice work on showing everybody that you're not a one trick pony."
"Thanks man." Jaden said with a big grin, not realizing that he was just also insulted.
"But I'm curious on one thing though." Will said, getting his attention, "You did remember that you have other ways to fuse, right?"
While Bastion was shocked to hear that Jaden had other ways to bring out fusion monster, Jaden was surprised for another reason. "Wait, you mean I still could have fused my monsters?" He asked out loud, both hands on his head.
Everybody nearby had their jaws on the ground at that question. Having no clue on how to respond to such stupidity.
