Chapter 11: Moving In

After the night before, Amy was exhausted.

She had finally made up her mind and it was officially a moving day.

After calling Sonic, he wanted her to move in right away, which indicated that all Amy had to worry about was bringing herself (to which Sonic had arranged for her, no problem) back to his home to begin the process of her training.

She had called Rouge and told her of the move, that she was only bringing her clothes and that if she could look after her furniture, she would be grateful. "Why are you asking her to do that? Not like you're going back to that dump," he said coldly.

Amy glared at him. He decided to accompany the driver upon her pick-up, and Amy was already regretting her decision of going along with it. "Because it's still my apartment and stop changing your story! You said I was only going to be there for a few months and that was it!" she yelled.

"Sonic, can you please be a little more nice to her? After all, she's doing you the favor," said Rouge over speakerphone.

Sonic rolled his eyes once more, "Ugh, fine. I just don't get how you'd still want to live there anyway–"

"Why are you talking so much shit, it's literally YOUR apartment complex! You own them!"

"I don't own them; my family owns them. Which is one of the many properties you're going to be learning about, so get to learning, servant."

Amy's eyes widened with surprise and rage. Servant!?

"Hey! We never agreed on the name-calling! You know what my name is!"

"You have to graduate to receive your name! While in training, your name is servant and nothing else!"

"Rouge, are you hearing this!? This man is completely crazy!"

"Enough, you guys!" shouted Rouge from the phone. Both Sonic and Amy looked away from each other in shame. Rouge was scary when she was mad.

"Look: you guys have an arrangement, and Sonic, we see you make the rules. But at the same time, you cannot seriously consider that as part of 'training'? Especially when it's just a few courses in etiquette–"

"Actually, Rouge: it is. Amy needs to realize that this thing here isn't a joke. We're up against some scary people that will literally tear her to shreds, so I need to desensitize her to this!"

"Sonic… they're your parents for God's sake."

"That's besides the point! The point is that this is boot camp for Amy! She needs to be able to take it as it comes in order for this to come off without a hitch!"

He turned to her and pointed his index finger to her, a look of unmovable determination dawned on his face, "You have to play a seriously perfect person. If they figure out all this is fake, I'll be cut off and life as you know it will be a living hell! You think right now is bad? Just you wait, it'll get thousands times worse if you don't play along. Now are you in? Or are you in?"

Amy fell silent; she was at a loss for words, and although this arrangement would only be over the course of these few months, it was going to be a challenge. She nodded, "I'm in. But only to get my heels back, only to get my life back, and nothing else!"

Sonic smirked at her, "Alright! That's the spirit! We're gonna get along just fine–"

"I have certain conditions for you too, though!" interrupted Amy, her fierce gaze piercing right through him. He began to sweat. He was never quieted down like that before.

"I need you to promise me that you're not going to do anything creepy while I'm there. After all, this is only until I'm done impressing your folks! After all this, I'm moving on and away from this giant mess! Are we clear?"

"Crystal. See, was that so hard? This is all I was asking you for. I was just hoping for a chance like this."

Rouge sighed over the speakerphone, and after saying her goodbyes, Amy put her phone away and realized after looking out the window for the first time since the beginning of the car ride, she saw Sonic's manor in front of her. It was only the start of her new hell, and she needed to be ready for it.

Shadow had been staring at the screen of his phone for more than an hour.

He couldn't get Amy out of his mind, and how he found it strange for her to not be there when he visited her home days ago. He knew he was probably overreacting, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that something was going on.

Since their breakup, he and Amy hadn't been able to find a good moment to check in on each other. They were never the type to break up and get back together so frequently (this being their first major breakup) and he still didn't know how to feel about it.

I just don't think it's normal of her to just disappear without saying anything, hell– even to me. There has to be something up. I would text her, but…

Shadow looked at his phone once more, his eyes lingered on the screen as he bit his lip, preventing his intrusive thought to come through.

Would it even be okay to text her? What if she's moved on? What if she's doing just fine without me? What if I'm just thinking too much into it and I'm just being that needy ex-boyfriend that's regretting his decisions and is now thinking of a fall back? She doesn't deserve the indecisions… I should just leave her alone–

But it was within that moment, that his eyes widened in thought; he knew.

He knew where she was.

He quickly rose from his seat and grabbed his jacket. He knew exactly where she was.

Besides him, there was only one other person that knew exactly where she was too, and he was just on the other side of town, behind those tall iron gates. He got into his car and drove off, cursing under his breath as he proceeded his ten minute journey to Sonic's manor.
