A/N: Hi, everyone! This is my first fiction in the justice league department so I hope I did an ok job! As you can see the inspiration for this story is the Injustice movie. Instead of making Superman accidentally kill Lois why not make Wonder woman accidentally kill Batman? If you are wonderbat fans then I am sorry for breaking your hearts.
Thank you in advance for reading and supporting this story, I hope you enjoy! Please leave a review when done!

New York City was, surprisingly, calm for the last few months. Although it is uncommon not to receive attacks from mad, lunatic villains in a few weeks but months? It's almost impossible to believe it. The citizens welcomed it with open arms, happy not to deal with them running around going crazy on them and destroying their city. And that made Diana Wayne skeptical of their behavior.
Something was nagging in the back of her mind, but she paid no heed to it and tried to have a relaxing day for once. She wasn't that skeptical before, but after years of living with her husband has made her a little paranoidーbut in a good way. I guess you can say he rubbed off on her.
She was busy doing paperwork, her eyes set on the ink-printed paper until she briefly glanced at the rings that sat on her left ring finger.
Both rings are beautifulーthe engagement ring comprises a blue sapphire with two small diamonds on its side that sits on an elegantly carved platinum band. The wedding band is a simple platinum ring. On the inner walls of the rings, they wrote an engraved message only meant for the couple's eyes.
Looking at the rings admiringly, she recollected all the hardships the pair had to endure to be where they are today. Even after two years of marriage, she was still head over heels for Bruce. She had to chuckle as she remembered how she first arrived here and caught the attention of the dark knight. When she wasn't looking, he would constantly watch her, search for her background-origin, you name it. His paranoia got the best of him. But in the end, he trusted and considered her a respective colleague. What he doesn't know, at first, is that he also caught the Amazonian warrior's attention as well.
She wanted to know who this mysterious and dark figure was. It wasn't out of romantic interest. She just wanted to know her teammate on a professional level. And after a year of fighting and learning from each other, their feelings started to grow. Both knew about this feeling, of course. And as a result, Batman tried to push the princess away at arm's length. But she wasn't having any of his nonsense and kept pursuing him. But after the incident in Paris and knowing about his identity, things have been difficult for the two.
If they'd come closer, he'd push her away. If they were taking a step too far, he'd avoid her like a plague for a few days before coming back like everything was normal.
It was a tiring and exhausting dance for both to continue but he was persistent.
But the Amazon princess was just as persistent as he is.
After three years, the two finally admitted their love for each other (Diana forcing Bruce to take her on a date) the rest, as they say, is history.
A year of dating was one of her happiest years, and when he proposed to her in Paris, she was ecstatic. When the paparazzi caught a picture of her left hand wearing a ring on her fourth finger, the whole nation went crazy about it. The tabloids and media were having a field day when they got the scoop and did everything they could to at least get a photo of the couple.
Of course, their friends and family knew about the engagement first. They were either celebrating winning big or were in a foul mood for losing bets. The two weren't surprised. Bruce already knew and told her about it.
Diana had been angry about it, but in the end, she had to roll her eyes at her friend's antiques. All were enthusiastic about the wedding, especially Alfred, their number one supporter. Who very much witnessed the very minute he saw the spark between the two heroes.
But the least enthusiastic of the bunch was her mother.
When her daughter told her that she was engaged to a man, Hippolyta had been against it. Saying he has tainted her daughter and he doesn't deserve her heart. It ended in an argument between the mother and daughter until Bruce stepped in, making a bargain with the queen. Diana was upset with them as Bruce readily agreed to the trial her mother had proposed to give her consent to their marriage.
A mere mortal man would've died on the first trial alone. But Bruce is not just a normal human.
On the first trial, he has to take on obstacles and courses. In the second trial, he has to face Themyscira's most skillful warriors. That includes Artemis, Menalippe, Antiope, and Hippolyta in a face to face combat. With a weapon in hand and head held high, he fought each of them and wonーbut not without a few bruises to gain from his fight. Finally, the only person standing in his way to victory was the queen.
When the battle between Bruce and the queen began, it was intense. Everyone in the coliseum sat on the edge of their seats, their eyes following the movement of their blades trying to strike each other.
Bruce was quick and agile, but Hippolyta was ready, although she was surprised by his actions. Sparks popped out when their blades collided. Both moved so quickly and fluidly that all had begun a difficult time catching up with their movements.
The queen managed to slash deep into Bruce's left ankle, making him stumble and slowing his movements. He regained his footing but the wound wouldn't slow him down, yet.
Diana tried to hide her fisted palms after witnessing her love get injured. Donnaーher sister took notice of this and tried to comfort her. "Diana, it's ok. He's going to be ok. He can handle anything." Capturing one of her fisted palms in her hand, her other went to her back to soothe her worried sister.
Diana relaxed a little with a resigned sigh. "I know. But I can't handle seeing Bruce get hurt. Especially my mother."
"I know. But Bruce is doing this for both of your sakes."
"And that's the problem. We're supposed toー" Diana was about to argue but was interrupted by the crowd's roar. The sisters quickly turned to look at the two combatants.
Bruce was on his back as he hit the ground. Hippolyta stood over him with her sword at hand and pointed at his neck. Cocking a brow, she questioned him. "Do you yield, mortal?" Followed by digging the tip of her blade, penetrating his skin. A small trail of blood came flowing out of the wound.
Diana couldn't read Bruce's stony expression. She barely caught his answer as he declared it throughout the air. He looked into her mother's eyes defiantly, his gaze holding a growing flame within them. "I'll never stop fighting for her."
Call it dishonorable or dirty, but using trickery or the surroundings around you is the best chance of survival. So, taking advantage of the sand beneath him, he discreetly fisted a bunch of them in his empty hand and threw them at the queen's eyes.
With the queen momentarily blinded, he quickly stood up, gritting his teeth as he leaned heavily on his right foot. When he lunged, she barely caught his sword with her own. She was slowly losing her footing as he kept coming at her. It gave Bruce an advantage as he dodged her incoming attack and landed a drop-spinning kick to her legs, making her stumble on her back.
The queen's eyes are focused on the tip of his sword aimed at her face. Her sword was in Bruce's other hand. "Do you yield?" Bruce questioned her raspily, his throat dry from the lack of water and chest rapidly heaving up and down from the lack of air in his lungs.
Both were exhausted, bloodied, and dirty. Hippolyta took a moment to study him. She may not say it aloud but she admits he is one of the best fighters she has ever faced. Bruce may be broody and stubborn but he has a warrior's heart. He is a person with a strong sense of justice. The way he looks at her daughter with such tenderness, such passion. You can see the love behind the gestures.
When Diana talks about him, her eyes light up like he is her whole world. She can see how strong the couple's bond is. And if she denies them that support, they are still getting married without her blessing or consent.
Hippolyta may not like him, but she respects him nonetheless.
"Answer my question, first and then you will receive yours." She started, staring at him in the eyes. "If I agree to this marriage, to whom will she wed? The man or the bat?"
He didn't answer at first but after a few seconds of thinking in his mind, he gave her one.
"Neither. The man and the bat are a part of a mask I created to protect the real me. I've hidden it behind those masks for so long that I can't even remember the time when I genuinely smiled. But when Diana came into my life, she somehow brought the old me back.."
"She somehow made this broken man whole again. I know your daughter can handle herself, but sometimes I cannot help but worry for her safety. When she goes out to defend the people from enemies, I always think of the worst outcomes. That's why I got paranoid about those around me. I've experienced many losses, but if she died? God forbid I might end up killing someone."
He took a breath, then looked at Diana as he said his final piece. "Before all this, I swore to myself I would never fall for anyone, putting my mission first before all else. I hold many regrets in my life, but the one thing I'll never regret is meeting and falling in love with your daughter. I swear that I will always love her, only her. And I will protect her till the day I die."
Diana was in tears after she heard Bruce's speech. Donna was crying as well. The whole coliseum was silent with bated breathーwaiting to see if the queen would surrender.
Bruce noticed the queen's eyes held no anger or embarrassment. They held pride and newfound respect.
"I concede. You have proven yourself to be worthy of my daughter's heart. And," She offered his hand towards him, hoisting him up on his feet. "You have earned my respect as a warrior."
Still clasping his hand, she gave him an overly sweet smile. "But hurt my daughter in any way and I will send an army of Amazon warriors through your front door."
"Don't worry your majesty. I don't want to be the reason for your daughter's pain." He chuckled breathlessly.
Grabbing his wrist, she raised it high up in the air. "Your victor, Bruce Wayne!" The crowd cheered at the news. He may not see it, but the Amazons' eyes held newfound respect for the man.
A sudden force almost knocked him off his feet. If it weren't for Hippolyta quickly steadying him and the person wrapped in his arms, they would've landed on the ground.
Realizing it was Diana who tackled him, he held her tighter and buried his face in her hair.
Diana was crying on his bare chest. She wasn't sure if it was happy or angry tears, but she neither cared about that as Bruce alone will forever be the holder of her heart.
After a bit of an argument and days of healing, the couple was married on the shores of Themyscira. It was a private and beautiful moment between friends and family, and when they returned to Gotham, they held another wedding.
This wedding was a cover for their aliases; Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince. The couple also decided if they should also announce a marriage between Wonder woman and the dark knight. It ended in discussions between the two and the other founders that lasted for a few months.
In the end, they decided to make it go public. To the surprise of the couple, there were a lot of people who supported the two heroes. Although some were upset that the man of steel and the Amazon princess did not end up togetherーmuch to Diana's amusement and Bruce's jealousy—they were still delighted by the results. The people of Gotham cheered. Not only do they have the Bat clan to protect their city, but they also have the Amazon princess.
After years of fighting alongside each other, you could see how much influence they had on each other. Their fighting styles were now mixed, making it into a new form of fighting all on its own. Diana got better at sneaking and hiding thanks to Bruce and Bruce has learned new workout techniques from Diana to add to his training regimen.
Diana had traded her one-piece bathing suit for a more functional, subdued, and flexible one. Sporting a dark red top and dark blue tights. Her accessories were traded for a silver palette and were now thinner and smaller. Beneath her bracelets are dark blue armbands. The stars on her outfit are limited to four. She also tied her hair into a ponytail rather than having it lose. Lastly, she added a sword to her equipment, leaving the lasso as the only thing that hadn't changed.
She never thought she'd wear such dark colors, but it fit her, and the new outfit covers more skin.
When she first showed up in her new suit, she received some mixed reactions. Don't get her wrong, the new outfit was more comfortable than the last one and she was happy with the change, seeing as the previous one was a little inappropriate.
If they don't like it then that's their problem. She's the one wearing the outfit, not them.
Batman was a bit more subdued, but if you observed his outfit more closely, you see some of the changes. The knuckles on his gauntlets and the sole of his boots are heavier and are in a dark shade of silver. His utility belt got recolored, turning it into a more subdued gold and having more pouches in them and his suit got turned into an all-black outfit, making it easier for him to hide in the shadows.
There were a lot of gadgets strapped to his suit Diana doesn't even know how many of them are in there.
All of those happy moments have some downside to them. There were times the couple was a little reckless during their missions. When they married, they knew the risks and responsibilities that would come with them and it led to some arguments.
The couple wouldn't look at or acknowledge each other in the hallways or the manor for days. When both got partnered into a mission, they would only give nods to each other in greeting. But that doesn't mean they don't look out for each other on the battlefield.
They'll always reconcile and come back to each other in the end. No matter how stubborn the two may be. The two can't stand to be apart for that long.
Lost in her thoughts, she listened to the television that was placed on her wall.
"... in other newsーHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Diana tensed in her seat as she heard the chilling laugh. The image of Joker cackling madly was shown on TV. "Oh, America, have I missed you! Did you miss me though? Probably not, but who could blame you?! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Unaware of crushing her armrests with her hands, she continued to listen to the broadcast.
"Anyway, I have a wonderful surprise to show you and I cannot wait for all of you to witness it!"
The nation currently has all of its eyes trained on any technological devices, ears focused on the Joker's words. "But of course, I can't do all of this alone, now can I?"
"I would like to invite our very dear princess, Wonder Woman, to accept my invitation to this little game. Of course, once you accept, there's no way of backing out once it's started. We're wasting precious time here so let me cut this short."
"All you have to do is go to the docks, take down hundreds of my goons, and rescue poor innocent children before the timer runs out! Simple enough? Good! Oh! I almost forgot," He leaned toward the camera and whispered. "You have to do this alone. If I see one of your little league friends, then it's game over! HA! I hope you'll enjoy the little surprise I left you with. Now!..."
A timer replaced the screen. "53 minutes left on the clock! It was supposed to be an hour but… eh! Everyone knows that I don't play fair. So, if I were you, I better get to it! HAHAHAHAHA! See you then, Wondy!"
Note: By the way, when Bruce met Diana he was 31 at the time, and currently in the story he is 37.
