Oops, I Did It Again – Chapter 48

The Rizzoli family home in Revere was sold 'as is' just under market value. Jane wasn't happy about that, but the home was in need of repairs and with the pending divorce of her parents it was one less thing her parents had to worry about.

They used whatever money was left to pay off all of their debts so that both of them were walking away from the marriage debt free. After the debts were settled there was less than twenty thousand dollars left and it was split evenly between her parents.

Their divorce would be official in under a month as they were approaching 120 days of officially being separated and had met all the requirements for a non-contested divorce.

Jane and Maura made plans to sneak away for another weekend with Kate and Rick. Kate had called and invited them to come to New York City two weeks after they had met. Maura checked with her parents to make sure they could use the family's apartment at the Four Seasons in the city.

When they arrived, Jane was fascinated to learn that the 82-story Four Seasons tower actually had 157 apartments in the building. The building had 24 floors dedicated to the hotel's 161 guests rooms and 28 suites. The Isles family had a penthouse apartment. Maura loved staying there whenever she went to New York City. Jane loved the apartment and told Maura after she had given her the tour, "I can handle staying here."

"That's good love, because this is where I normally stay when I come to New York City and I would love for you to love it also, it makes coming to the city a little nicer." Maura said as she leaned in to kiss Jane once they had moved their suitcases inside the bedroom.

Kate and Rick met them at the restaurant precisely at 8 PM. They had a nice dinner and chatted. At 10 PM they left to go to Rick's bar, the Old Haunt. Jane was impressed that Rick had his own bar.

Rick told her how the bar was once a blacksmith shop and later a brothel. It became a bar during prohibition. He told her how he used to sit in the bar and write his novels. He shared that he wrote most of his first novel there and only stopped going to the bar when his daughter, Alexis, was born. He said all the great writers drank there.

"I purchased the bar after the owner died. It has sentimental value to me and I wanted for all of us to have a place to hang out so now this is where we hang out after hours. It helps that it is only eight minutes from the precinct." Rick told them as he gave them a tour of the place.

They sat down and had a few drinks. As they were saying their goodnights to each other Kate asked if they would like to join them for brunch in the morning around 10 AM. They agreed and each left for their residence.

On the cab ride back to their apartment Jane told Maura, "I like them. I'm glad we came to spend the weekend. It's so cool that Rick owns a bar."

"Yes, and the history of the bar is so interesting. I liked when he showed us the secret entrance to the bar."

Kate called them in the morning, "Okay, Jane, don't laugh at the name of the place we are meeting at."

"Kate, now I am curious, what kind of place are you exposing us to?" Jane asked.

"The place is called Pig & Butter, located at 134 Ludlow St. It is near Katz's Delicatessen. We have eaten there before and it is really good. I think Castle took me there because of the name. He thought it was funny. You know because they refer to us as pigs and all." Kate explained.

"I hate that nickname. Five Oh is so much better." Jane stated.

"I know right. They open at 9:30 AM, so how about we meet there at 10 AM." Kate asked Jane.

"We can do that. We will see you there at 10 AM."

"Castle said he will cook dinner for us tonight. At brunch we can talk about the menu, as I don't know if you are allergic to any food and such."

"Sounds great Kate."

They arrived a couple of minutes early and Kate and Castle were in the cab right behind them. They walked into the restaurant together. Rick found a table and they all looked over the menu. Kate and Maura decided to start with Mimosas and Castle and Jane ordered 'The Hound of Music' IPA.

Their drinks were delivered and then the waiter took their food orders. Kate ordered 'The Conductor' as she loved their chicken and cornbread. Maura decided she would try the 'Crème Anglaise French Toast.' Castle and Jane had similar tastes and ordered 'The Hylton Beef Burger' and a side of 'Pig & Butter Bacon' and 'Parmesan Truffle Fries' to share.

They were half way through eating their food when Kate saw a friend of hers. "Kate, how are you?" Her friend said as she approached the table. Kate stood up to greet her properly and introduced her to Jane and Maura.

"This is my friend Olivia Benson." Kate said as they chatted briefly and then the waiter brought over Olivia's to go order. "Olivia, this is Jane Rizzoli and Dr. Maura Isles from Boston."

"Captain Benson, your order is ready for you. I hope you enjoy it as always." The waiter said as he passed Olivia her to go order.

"Olivia, I know your order is to go. Do you have time to join us?" Kate said as Castle pulled up an extra chair, working on not taking 'no' for an answer.

"Actually, I do, I normally get my order to go because I know it is hard to get a seat in here sometimes. I am on duty but I can open up my bag and sit and eat with you and your friends." Olivia stated as she sat down in the chair that Castle had offered her.

"Olivia, Jane is a homicide detective and her wife, Maura is the Chief Medical Examiner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. They are here visiting for the weekend."

"Olivia is the Captain in charge of the Manhattan SVU. Although we live in the same city are paths don't cross that often, so it is a pleasure to see her today. Olivia why don't you and Noah come over for dinner tonight. Rick is cooking."

"That sounds great. We can do that. Noah loves the two of you."

Once the waiter saw that Olivia was seated, he brought over an ice tea and a plate for Olivia. They spent the next half hour talking and finishing their meal.

Frost was planning the bachelorette party for Jane. Although he felt funny with it being called that because all the guys were coming to Jane's party and the ladies were going to Maura's. They were having the parties on the same night. Susie was planning Maura's bachelorette party. Maura felt she didn't need one.

Actually, she was a little nervous about the idea because she had never been to a bachelorette party before. When she spoke to Susie about it, Susie told her, "Don't be ridiculous Maura, you are having a bachelorette party and that is all there is to it." Maura didn't argue, she just 'rolled with it' as Jane would say.

When Susie contacted Kate about the party, she was still sitting at the restaurant and asked Susie what she had planned and Kate said, "Why don't we have the party here in New York City."

Everyone at the table looked at Kate. Kate put her index finger up to ask them to wait. Then she continued talking, "Everybody can come up for the weekend. Jane and Maura love New York City." They both shook their heads agreeing with Kate.

"If you like the idea, I can convince my husband to fork over some money to spring for hotel rooms and airfare for everyone to fly to New York. He loves Jane and Maura." Rick was shaking his head 'yes.' He didn't know why he was renting hotel rooms and paying for airfare but if Kate thought it was a great idea, then he was game.

Susie was surprised by the offer. "That sounds like a great idea Kate, thank you." They hung up the phone and everyone just looked at Kate.

"That was Maura's friend Susie. She is working on your bachelorette party and wanted me to 'save the date' and I just told her we could have it here in New York City. She liked that idea."

"Oh, I can't wait until Jane's person calls me, if he or she calls me." Castle added. "I have some ideas."

"Wait, I'm confused, aren't you married already?" Olivia asked.

"Yes, we are married but our family doesn't know it, so they are planning the wedding for us. We had a secret wedding as we didn't want to wait." Jane explained. Olivia nodded in understanding.

When Susie got off of the phone with Kate, she called Angela. "Angela, I just spoke with Jane and Maura's new friend, Kate, and she suggested that we have the bachelorette party in New York City. She said her husband will cover the cost of the airfare and hotel rooms to bring everyone to New York. What do you think? I love the idea and I think that Jane and Maura would love the idea also."

Angela asked, "Can I call you right back so I can get Constance and the three of us can chat about this? You know what, can you meet me at the Guest House and we can just chat in person? I will locate Constance and we can go from there."

"I can be there in an hour." Susie replied.

"Okay, that will give me time to locate Constance. See you in an hour."

Once Susie arrived, Angela facetimed Constance and the three ladies sat and discussed moving the party to New York City. They all agreed that New York City would be a great location for the party.

Susie called Frost to get his take and put him on speaker so they could all talk. Susie explained to Frost what Kate had said and he agreed. Frost said, "I think that is great of Jane and Maura's friends to do this. I only see one problem."

"What is that young man?" Constance asked.

"I don't know New York City. How am I supposed to plan things for Jane and the guys when I don't know the city?" Frost stated.

"I think you might have to involve their friend Rick Castle as he knows New York City and where the guys might be comfortable." Constance stated and Susie and Angela nodded in agreement. Frost was okay with that and would contact Jane to get Rick's contact information.

Frost contacted Rick later that night and Rick told him of several things they should do. Frost was excited. He liked what Rick was telling him. Rick said he would make the arrangements the next day and they would be all set.

The weekend of the party, everyone was leaving Boston early in the morning on Saturday. Castle had arranged a car service so that nobody would have to drive to the airport and worry about parking. Upon arrival in New York, he had a car service take them to the Four Seasons.

They started the party weekend off by meeting for an early brunch in one of the meeting rooms of the hotel. Castle had the brunch catered. He let Frost and Susie speak to everyone and gave them itineraries so that everyone knew when they were to be throughout the weekend.

The group would be in New York City just one night and after brunch they were going on a tour of the Statue of Liberty and then the 911 Memorial. At 6 PM Jane's group had a 45-minute high-energy cardio boxing session and Maura's group had a manicure and pedicure appointment at the hotel.

During the boxing session, Jane hit the punching bag so hard and the trainer didn't have a proper hold on it and it knocked him on his butt. They all laughed including the trainer who had misinterpreted Jane's strength. He thought she wouldn't be able to hit the bag that hard. He would never do that again.

When Jane's group left to go to their boxing adventure, Maura's group met in one of the meeting rooms for mani-pedis. Castle had one of the local salon's bring their employees to the hotel and set up in one of the meeting rooms. It was after their salon hours and they called in all of their employees so that all of the guests could receive their mani-pedis at the same time.

At 7:30 PM Jane's group had an axe throwing appointment. Jane was so excited about axe throwing. She had wanted to do this and she loved it. Frost came in first place beating Jane by only two points. He loved that he beat Jane because Jane always beat him at everything. Frankie came in third place followed by Tommy.

Tommy had a little mishap and released one axe too early and it flew back into the crowd and almost hit Jane in the process. "Tommy, do you know how mad Maura would've been at you if you had actually hit me with that axe?" Jane asked his youngest brother.

"Yes, Maura wouldn't have liked it all. She probably would've cussed at me and we all know that she doesn't cuss." Tommy said as Jane smiled. Jane knew that Maura did cuss but only when they were making love. Maura could cuss like a sailor then.

Jane always thought it was adorable how Maura would swear when they were making love. The prim and proper Dr. Isles swearing, that was something that she wouldn't ever share with her family. Although her Ma had probably heard them a time or two when she 'needed something' from the kitchen in the main house and helped herself.

Korsak and Arthur only threw one axe. They knew they were not up to competing with the others. Cavanaugh hung in there and completed all of the throws. He came in last place but he was pleased with himself for keeping up with the younger party goers.

Jane told Frost, "We are going to have to do this again. I need a chance to beat you."

Frost replied, "Jane, you are so competitive. You don't like losing at all."

"You knew that already so when we get back to Boston, we will have to find a place to have a rematch."

"You're on partner." Frost told Jane.

The ladies went on to a wine tasting event next. Then they were off to a surprise location. Susie didn't even know what the location was. Castle had told her that the ladies would like it and she just agreed to go with the plan. Jane's group was also headed to a surprise location. Only Kate and Castle knew the location.

The bus limos arrived at the surprise location at the same time. They arrived at 'The Old Haunt.' Jane was so happy when she saw Maura. She loved sharing with Maura and she had missed out on the activities that Jane had completed. Then Jane realized that Maura wouldn't have wanted to box or throw axes but she would have liked to watch Jane.

Castle had closed the bar for a private party. It was time for both groups to drink and let loose. Everyone was mingling and enjoying themselves. Castle had offered strippers but Susie and Frost had turned him down. They discussed it and didn't think it was appropriate. They both had respect for Jane and Maura and didn't think they would enjoy that with their family and friends present.

Olivia Benson had found out about the party and decided to crash. She didn't tell Kate that she had overheard her making plans with the bar staff while Castle was arranging some of the other things that they would be doing while the group was here.

Kate was not surprised to get the text from Olivia saying that she was at the front door of the bar and would like to be let in. "Come on Kate, you know Jane and Maura wouldn't mind. We have been chatting via e-mail and Skype since we met. You have been in on some of the Skype sessions so you know that we are all friends now."

"I know, I will be right there. Hold tight." Kate said as she made her way to the front door to let Olivia and her best friend, Alex Chabot, in. Alex and Olivia liked to go out and have fun. Lots of people thought that they were a couple as they were always together.

Olivia found Jane and Maura and introduced Alex to them. They chatted a little while before Rick announced, after everyone had a few drinks, that karaoke was the new theme of the evening. Kate didn't know that Castle had bought a karaoke machine for the bar, she was just as surprised as everyone else when Rick wheeled out the Karaoke machine.

Jane told Maura, "No way are you getting me to sing."

Maura replied, "But it would be fun to sing a song to each other Jane." Olivia and Alex just laughed.

"Why are you two laughing?" Jane asked.

"Jane, you know if Maura wanted you to sing you would get up there and sing for her." Jane lowered her head, she knew Olivia was right.

Jane raised her head and said, "Yes, I would do almost anything for her. I love her so much."

Castle said, "You know what, Kate and I will start the karaoke party off. Come on dear, let's show them how this is done." Castle reached for his wife's hand and escorted her up on stage as the music started to play. He had selected 'Shallow' by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. They sang the song as if they had been doing karaoke together for years. Everyone clapped when the song was over.

Castle then stepped down off the stage with Kate and walked up to Maura and said, "I have selected a song I think would be appropriate for you to sing to Jane. Come with me." Maura was shy and didn't want to go up on stage. "I will stay up on stage with you. Please?" Castle fluttered his eyes as he tried to convince her to accompany him on the stage.

She finally went with him and the song he selected began, 'Thinking Out Loud' by Ed Sheeran. She was a little off key but followed along. She had heard the song before and by the time the song was over she was getting into it. She was only looking at Jane and Jane had such a huge smile.

Jane met her half way when the song was over and they kissed very passionately. People were whistling at them and they heard several 'get a room' comments before Castle latched onto Jane and said, "Your turn my dear."

"Oh, hell no Castle. I can't do that." Jane pleaded with him as he tried to drag her up to the stage.

"Yes, you can, your lovely bride just did it and she didn't want to do it either. I have a perfect song picked out for you. You will love the reaction on her face as you sing to her, trust me." Castle said as he dragged Jane onto the stage. Everyone was encouraging her to 'go for it.'

Jane sang 'Perfect' by ed Sheeran. Maura loved it. She had tears coming down her face as she swayed to the song. Jane knew the words and she took the microphone with her as she made her way to Maura and sang to her. She held Maura's hand and swayed with her.

During breaks in the song, she placed small kisses on her lips. She escorted Maura back onto the stage as it was getting difficult to concentrate on the song and Maura at the same time.

Jane continued swaying with Maura when the song ended. They were lip locked when Frankie and Nina decided they would be brave and sing a song together. They sang 'All of Me' by John Legend.

Everyone was enjoying the karaoke and several people were gathered around the song books to select songs to sing. Castle was happy. He had hoped that the machine would be a success, even if it was only brought out for this one night. The looks on Jane and Maura's faces when they sang to each other was well worth the price of the karaoke machine.

The evening ended about 2 AM. They still had another day of activities before the group headed back to Boston. The next morning, which it was already, was full of activities. Maura's group went to a spa and enjoyed yoga, meditation and a massage.

Jane's group headed to a steam room and then they all had a meal together before they headed to the airport for their trip back to Boston. Their luggage was already in the car. A fun weekend was had by all, but they were all exhausted by the time the plane landed in Boston.
