Diana was in her quarters lying in her bed for almost half an hour now. She was staring aimlessly at the ceiling reminiscing memories from her childhood. When her mother, Queen Hypolyta, used to read her wonderful fairy tales about man's world. She closed her eyes with her lips forming a smile as she tried to remember her mother's wonderful stories

It was already late and I couldn't sleep of some reason, I wanted to train more and more. I slowly got off of my bed and tiptoed to the window trying to sneak out when all of a sudden the door slowly creaked open. It was my mother of all people!

"Diana, What do you think you're doing young lady?"

My mother asked

I looked away while I hid my bracelets in my back.

"I just wanted to breathe in fresh air Mother" I hesitantly uttered

My mother looked in a suspicious manner. There was no way to trick the queen of Themyscira and I knew that for a fact. Nodding her head, she approached me and gently caressed my hair.

"Diana, you have used this excuse many times already, did you really think it would work with your own mother" She deliberately stated with a playful smile on her lips

I knew it! There is just no way to trick my own mother, she's just too wise and smart for any of my devious mischief. I slowly waltz back to my bed while, hoping she won't be that angry. She closed her eyes of disbelief as she shook her head, my mother had always been patient with such a stubborn daughter like me and I am thankful to her for keeping up with me

Mother sat next to me on the bed as she gently pinched my cheeks.

"Do you want a bedtime story, Diana?" she suggested merrily

Would I? Bedtime stories are great!, I get to listen to wonderful stories and tales about princesses, fairies, and romance, oh romance, how I wished I've also

"I would love that mother!" I replied in a very excited manner

She slowly began with her usual "Once upon a time…." as I looked at her very interestingly. I really loved my mother's voice, it sounded so full that every word that she uttered was so clear to hear. I closed my eyes as I imagined the story that she was unfolding.

"Tonight's story is about a kind and caring girl who was abused by her second family but she stayed true and genuine despite of all the hardships life had in store for her. One day, the King announced that a royal ball is about to take place in the castle tonight and every fair maiden in the kingdom is invited. This news made the girl very excited but unfortunately her evil stepmother prevailed. Losing hope of joining the party, She cried and cried all night to her bed when suddenly A fairy-god mother appeared before her!"

"A fairy god-mother?" I asked very curiously

"Yes, a fairy god-mother. She gave the girl all the resources that she needed to be merry for the night.

But unfortunately there's a bad news. When the clock reaches midnight, She goes back to her former self. The girl wasn't discouraged at all since she was already blessed with the Fairy god-mothers' gift towards her and all at once, she setted off for the ball. Upon reaching the castle, she was the most beautiful of them all and the others could tell. The Prince noticed her from a mile as he deliberately approached her. He invited her to a dance as the music starts

They danced and danced gracefully with the girl feeling the moment, It was like a dream come true!

The Prince asked for her name and as she was about to utter, The big clock rung…..

It was already 12 midnight!

Fixated, She immediately rushed towards the escape leaving his prince charming behind confused, she unknowingly left her glass slipper behind as she was escaping. She reached their house with a full smile, this night was truly magical to her indeed.

The next morning, She was awakened with a loud trumpet indicating the royal family's presence. She immediately rushed downstairs where the king and the prince stood still. They tried the glass slipper on ever lady on the kingdom to see who it fits and unfortunately it didn't yet, atleast for now. When the prince saw the girl, he felt something inside. He realized for himself that this….. it was her.

He took the slipper and tried it on the girl and it fitted! He knew it.

The Prince then ordered a grand wedding for them.

And they both lived Happily…"

Ever after, I thought to myself. Giggling to myself, I loved how mother's stories always end in a happy note with the prince and the princess living happily ever after. I wanted to live happily ever after with a prince too..

"Mother, Do you think ill be able to find my prince Charming soon?" I asked

Mother turned to me with a sad look. She caressed my hair as she muttered the words..

"My child, These stories are just… stories. Out there are men who are too shallow to appreciate a girl's worth. Prince Charmings doesn't exist in real life Diana" She slowly muttered

I was heartbroken, I couldn't believe. How is she so sure about men and what they're made of. That couldn't be true right?

"But mother…" I replied hesitantly

Mother kissed my forehead goodnight as she stood up

"Goodnight Diana" She uttered as she left

I slowly wrapped myself in the fur blanket as I closed my eyes carefully. Oh how I wished I can meet my prince charming soon..

Diana opened her eyes as someone was knocking on her door.

"Diana…Its me."

It was a man's voice. A voice that a made Diana very happy for some reason. She already knew who it was from the tone of his voice alone.

"come in" Diana replied in a very sweet tone

The door didn't even fidget even slightly and there was no response whatsoever. Diana was patiently waiting but there was no answer even after she invited him in. Suddenly the voice spoke…

"You're not naked, are you?"

"whatever do you mean by that?" Diana replied in a very teasing tone

"The last time we had this scenario, I ended up seeing something I really shouldn't have seen."

"Oh stop squabbling Bruce and just come in" Diana stated in a slightly vexed tone

The door slightly moved with Batman entering holding a cup of barley tea. He placed it on her table as he sat next to Diana

"How was the mission Diana?" he asked very sincerely

Diana sat upright leaning her back on the headboard part of the bed

"Quite tiring actually, My body is still sore after a long day" She replied

"I see" he replied in a monotonous manner

An awkward silence engulfed between them as Diana was just staring at the concerned Dark Knight. She formed a mischievous smile on her lips

"Anyways, I made you a barley tea which is good for relaxing muscles. It's still hot so I recommend drinking it as soon as possible" Bruce stated while pointing at the cup of barley tea that she placed in her desk

Diana leaned in closer to him as he was in his usual Batman "professional" move. She wanted none of that.

"Can't you atleast take your helm off when you're in my room? I really can't take you seriously when you're concerned in your whole Batman persona" Diana playfully said

He turns to her leaning closer and closer. This was obviously gonna turn bad at any moment if this escalated. He decided to avoid it before they end up doing something that they would really regret

"Anyways, that's all. Have a good rest Diana" Bruce stated as he stood up tried to leave

"Bruce wait..?" Diana uttered in a sad tone

Bruce turned around hesitantly

"What's wrong ?" he asked

Diana was fidgeting her hands nonchalantly, She obviously wanted to say something but was too shy to speak up

"Diana?" Bruce asked again

"Im…. having trouble sleeping Bruce" Diana murmured softly in a very shy manner

Bruce smiled and shook his head. He took off his helm and decided to sit with her on the bed

"alright princess, how can I help?" Bruce stated

Diana turned to see The Dark Knight unmasked with his handsome and brooding face exposed to her. It made her very jumpy and excited for some reason.

"When I was a child, my mother used to read me bedtime stories to help me fall asleep" Bruce stated sincerely

Diana's eye gleamed and she turned to him

"That's it! Bruce tell me a bedtime story"

"Arent you too old for that Princess?" He jokingly uttered with a slight chuckle

"Oh come onnnn. Pleassseeeee" Diana pleaded like a little girl

Bruce couldn't help but chuckle upon seeing this version of the Amazon princess. She's acting like a child

"Alright, but you have to drink your milk first," Bruce jokingly stated

Diana turned to the Barley tea that he placed on the table

"Well, we have our milk right here" Diana uttered playfully

"woah, were seriously doing this?"

"of course we are" Diana replied

Patiently waiting for the story, Diana took a sip of the barley tea and felt relieved all of a sudden. It was like her body was soothed of the hard day that she had.

"Wow, this is truly magical Bruce" She stated in a very amazed tone

Bruce thought up of a great idea to distract her

"Of course, that is made up of….."

"The story please!" Diana interrupted with a sly grin on her face

Bruce realizing there's no talking his way out of this decided to just comply.

"So umm, Once upon a time.." He began

Diana was very interested on the story that she was leaning on her hands as he was starting

"So yeah umm, once upon a time there was a princess. She was very beautiful, and strong, and intelligent. She had everything basically"

Diana was listening to Bruce's story with admiration. She didn't know Bruce was an excellent Storyteller.

"She always wanted to explore the world so she left her kingdom and set out for an adventure on the world. Her Mother the queen wasn't very pleased but that didn't stop her."

Diana noticed that the princess awfully resembled her in any way. This made her even more interested of Bruce's story

"She was accompanied with a knight in her journey. The knight was very dependable and trustworthy and he did everything just to protect the princess even though he knows for himself that the princess is strong enough to defend for herself"

Diana was intrigued upon hearing the next parts.

She smiled discreetly as she thought to herself

"A knight huh.."

"In their journey they've had trouble in the way but they faced it… together, and so they stood strong against all odds"

Diana definitely definitely liked where this story is going

"Eventually, the knight felt something different towards her, something unexplainable and new. He realized for himself that he was falling in love to the princess.

Diana was enjoying every single moment in that story. She knew for herself who Bruce was pertaining to with the knight.

"But unfortunately, the knight knew all along that they just weren't made for each other. She was a Princess and he was just a….. knight.

"Oh come on!" Diana yelled out of nowhere

Bruce was surprised upon seeing the Diana still awake

"I thought you were already asleep" he uttered

"No! I didn't like how the story went, change it!" Diana argued

"But why?... It's just a story" Bruce replied coherently

"But…" She mumbled

"You'd like the ending of the story, trust me" Bruce stated with a smile

"Alright….." Diana uttered hesitantly

She took a sip of the barley tea as she was patiently waiting for the continuation

"So one day, the princess met a handsome Prince who had everything a woman could ever want. She went with him and they both lived happily ever after. The end."

Diana was definitely not satisfied with the story as she glared at her storyteller. That wasn't the ending that she wanted at all. Bruce turned to her and was visibly confused

"what's wrong? Didn't you like the story?"

"Not. Even. A. bit."

"But why, isn't that how most fairy tales end. The princess and the Prince charming getting together at the end?"

Diana got irked of what he said. She clenched her fist as she glared at him even more

"No! that's not the story that I wanted to hear. I didn't like how the story ended, I despise it." Diana argued angrily

"Well then how would you like to end it?"

"The Princess and the Knight ending up together" She playfully replied

Bruce shook his head of disbelief,

"You know damn well that's now how most stories would end, The Princess and the Prince Charming ending up would be the most realistic one" he stated in a very convincing manner

Diana got even more irritated hearing how unreasonable he sounded when suddenly a thought came to her..

"Well Bruce, It doesn't have to be realistic.." She uttered

"what do you mean?" he replied

"In fairy tales, anything is possible. And that applies for this case as well" she stated in a very convincing manner as well

"b-but…"

Diana turned to look at him as he was trying to think up of an excuse to give

"Bruce… please." She pleaded sincerely

Bruce gave in. Might as well give the princess what she wanted. This is just a fantasy anyways.

"Fine.." he replied

Diana was happy upon hearing that. She quickly furrowed herself back inside her blanket once again, patiently waiting for the happy ending she so wanted. She closed her eyes with a smile forming on her lips

Bruce carried on with the story

"So one day, the knight gathered up all his courage to tell the princess how he felt. Despite knowing how dangerous it is to have someone as her to be with someone like him who was filled with darkness …. Despair…misery and… sadness.

Diana was worried for a moment there, Bruce was get too personal with the story.

"Despite of all that, the thought of living alongside the lady that he loved the most is the best thing that he could ever have in life. And so… he told her how he felt."

Diana's worries came through. The Knight had courage to tell the princess how he felt despite of all the things that were holding him back…. That was very sincere and admirable to her.

"and then to his surprise, It turned out the princess loved him back as well. He was definitely the happiest man on earth at that moment" Bruce continued

Diana was definitely happy listening to him, it felt very genuine and sincere. She was feeling more and more comfortable now

"So both of them lived together despite of all the troubles and tragedies that may come their way. Together, they'll be strong. And they both lived.."

"Happily ever after.." Diana thought to herself before falling into a deep slumber with a genuine smile on her face

Bruce turned to her as he noticed his princess was already asleep. He felt happy inside knowing atleast in the fantasies,…

They were together.

Bruce kissed her forehead and whispered something on her ears

"Goodnight Princess…"

He stood up and left her room, leaving her Amazon princess in her most peaceful slumber,
