Seriously…

I could never know what is going on with that man's mind at all

Perhaps I'm just over thinking stuff, or I'm really conflicted with how he had been referring to me recently

I don't really get it at all; I'm getting all worked up over a "nickname"

And the fact that he is the only person who refers me in such a "nickname"

I let this thing get over me with Hera only knows how many days had it been since it had been running through my mind

That man is just perplexed to the fullest, being my partner and all…

Well, he is my partner

And a close friend

So why am I getting all crazy about such thing?

It bothers me so much how such a mere call gets on my nerves

Perhaps I should ask him about it.

It was a busy afternoon in a village of Stockholm, Sweden as Diana was sitting by herself near a bench. Alongside with her partner Batman, they just finished dealing with a certain swarm of nanotech bees that had been causing such ruckus in the place as of lately

Diana heaved out a sigh with something running rampant on her mind. Batman was out to investigate some further clues that might lead them to the perpetrator of the certain incident, and so she sat alone

Her mind was filled of possible conclusions and answers that she made up herself. She never really asked him about it specifically which led her to be worked up about it

"By the Goddess, I just can't understand him at all. Why of all things must he refer to me in such a manner?"

Diana closed her eyes, to ease her mind from all the deep thinking. She reminisced all those times that Bruce had called her—

"Sorry about that, princess"

A certain voice caught Diana out of nowhere. She opened her eyes and saw Batman holding two nice popsicles in both of his hands

Diana gulped upon the sight of such delicious looking things that he is holding. She then gave Bruce a look of reassurance which Bruce nodded in return

"Which flavor would you like?"

"Anything will do, Bruce" she responded with a sweet smile

"Hah, the last time we were in this scenario, I picked up a flavor which you didn't really enjoy which caused you to be in a bad mood the whole day" He uttered

Diana blushed slightly upon hearing this notion. She then cleared her throat to change the subject which brings back such an embarrassing memory

Batman sat next to her and gave her the vanilla flavored Popsicle. He had known her quite well to know about her preference on such iced delicacies

Diana eagerly took the Popsicle without hesitation with a warm smile on her face

"Good Boy, you really know me well, Bruce"

"Anything for you, princess" he responded sarcastically

Upon hearing him say this, thoughts from earlier returned and haunted Diana once again. She had decided earlier that she will ask him about it and now is the perfect time

"Bruce, why do you call me princess"? She asked curiously

Batman took a bite of his Popsicle before turning to Diana

"Why, is something wrong with it?" he asked

"No it's just, I'm curious on why you refer to me in such way. I was wondering if you were doing it on purpose…"

"Who knows…" Bruce responded as he took another bite of his popsicle

A sudden rush of irk came unto Diana upon hearing this. Her suspicions were true after all

"So you are doing it on purpose!" She grunted in anger

Batman slowly looked at her and noticed that she was now furious with her eyebrows furrowed together. Her eyes were as if she was about to smack some sense into him

He wasn't intimidated though, not the very least. He had been in so many situations like this with Diana and he always finds a way to neutralize the raging Amazon

"It's just a nickname, Diana" he responded

"Yeah, A nickname of belittlement is all that is" She retorted in a furious tone

Batman heaved out a sigh upon hearing this

"Diana…" he muttered slowly

"It's not a form of belittlement…"

This somehow caught Diana's interest. His claim suddenly caused an interest inside of her that instantly fueled into curiosity.

"Then what is it then?" she asked with an anticipating look on her eyes with a big pout on her lips

Bruce was hesitating somehow, especially with the way she is looking at him. It would be a bit awkward if she found out the real reason behind it.

But with the way she is staring at him right now, it is hard for Bruce to look away and escape

And so he cleared his throat as he faced her

"Diana..." He slowly uttered

"It is a form of endearment."

Diana was speechless upon hearing that, her mind was blank and her mouth was draped open

"En..dearment?" she repeated

Bruce nodded in response as he looked away

"You mean…"

"Yes." Bruce responded

A sudden thumps of Diana's heart caught her by surprise. She never expected this to be the real reason and so she was literally tongue-tied

"Bruce refers to me as princess because of endearment" Diana thought to herself

"Does that mean… Bruce likes me"

A rush of warmth came over to her face upon thinking of such a possibility.

"Well if you don't like if you don't like it then—"

"NO!"

Diana immediately interrupted with determination in her eyes. Bruce was caught aback with this however being stunned on the spot

"I mean I don't mind if you'd call me that…" she slowly muttered

"But I thought you hated it"

"No I didn't say that" she responded

"Yes you did."

"I didn't" Diana responded, her voice a little bit higher now

"I'd be called anything by you if it meant endearment actually…"

"What was that?" he asked

"Nothing." she responded sharply

Bruce heaved out a sigh upon hearing this. There's no point arguing with a literal childish Amazon. And so he gave her a smile as he uttered

"Alright princess, if that's what you want"

Diana giggled upon hearing this. There's just something with how he pronounces it that makes her all giddy up inside

"Say it again" she asked

"Say what?"

"You know what I mean!" Diana retorted with a pout on her lips

Bruce scratched his head with the notion

"princess?"

Again, Diana let out a giggle that was a combination of happiness and excitement from within

"Again!" she asked with enthusiasm

And so their whole afternoon was filled of an exchange of childish banter between the two of them. It was definitely a great day for Diana for now she finally knows what Bruce nickname for her really meant

She never expected endearment to be the real reason but it made her really happy, only shows how her partner cares about her despite his cold upbringing

All that she knows is she didn't mind being referred to as a nickname by him and this is coming from an Amazon raised in an island with no men. This only shows how much effect Bruce had over her over their time of being together as close friends
